Munchkins in Camden

Stopped in for a light lunch after visiting the British museum. We ordered onion rings and the fish and chips to share. The service was the best we've had while in London, the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The lettuce that was garnish for the onion round was fresh and crisp and made a great salad. The fish was cooked perfectly, so crispy, and had flavor. The chips were hot and some of the best we've had in London. We would return if in London again.

Watered down beer and shoe leather meat that I may have to sick up cos my stomach is aching now. Knew it was a tourist trap but let myself be suckered in anyway lmfao learn from my mistake. Lovely service tho.

We had an excellent meal here, delicious steak and kidney pie and the rush and chips are also delicious. Not five stars because it is a bit dingy. Black deposits at the toilet sink, sticky floor, chairs and well, a bit of everything. I would clean everything nicely with a few buckets of soapy water for a few evenings and then the 5 stars would fly in.

Munchkins restaurant is across the street from the British Museum. The line for the museum was extremely long and not moving so we decided to visit Munchkins for a morning tea and were very pleasantly surprised by their scones. The best we had eaten in London. The next time we are in London, we will definitely visit Munchkins again.

So this is the racists who gave me food which tasted as if it had come out of the garbage. I was ill for days. They took unbridgeable to the color of my skin. So sad.

Nipped in for a quick tea after the British Museum, knew we were being ripped off £40 for a tea, coffee, 5 chicken wings on iceberg, mozzarella, avocado and half a tomato on iceberg..... really don't bother 🤣🤣🤣 Starbucks is 3 doors down

Had lunch here, got the Shepard’s pie. Food was mid tbh. Service was good though, quickly got me a table, brought me my drink and food quickly. Place was clean, workers were actively cleaning up and seem to take pride in the place. Don’t know what the theme was suppose to be though.

We visited for breakfast around 10 am. on Sunday. The restaurant was empty at this point. We ordered coffee and browsed the menu. Full English breakfast was £15.95 each, so we decided to skip the food. The staff were friendly, and the coffee was OK. But £11 for 2 cups of coffee is really cheeky. OK, it is across the road from the British Museum, but to charge high-end restaurant prices in what is essentially a cafe is just gouging tourists.

Stopped for a cup of tea at this little cafe. They were setting up for a large group for afternoon tea. For a proper afternoon tea, you expect something like photo #1. What these folks got was photo #2. Supermarket baked goods and cold cuts sandwiches on white bread. I actually laughed when I first saw the plates and grabbed a pic just before they arrived. Dessert was a frozen drumstick ice cream.

Little bit expensive though the workers were so kind. I think this is the most kind restaurant in London.

I don't recommend it to anyone. The prices are inappropriately high considering what you get on the plate. Fish and chips without any fuss, lots of breading. We received a set of Heinz sauces for the dishes, but there was definitely no Heinz ketchup in the ketchup bottle. At the very end of the card there is information about a 12.5% ​​service charge, which, considering the prices from the menu, gives only one impression: never come back.

Tourist trap near the Museum. Prices even for London are extortionate, £4.50 for a can of ice tea and no ice in the glass. Chicken burger isn't a chicken burger but just grilled chicken bits on some limp lettuce and a bun. Overcharged us for drinks by £10 and had to complain.

Bad and expensive food...but what is unfortunate is the dirtiness of the establishment...and that is what cannot be tolerated in a restaurant. Hair in the food, cooking oil on the floor, disgusting bathrooms and stained cutlery... I wish I was exaggerating but I already have diarrhea. Don't come.

Touristy spot to grab a bite to eat. The food and service were both very good. The place was filled with tour groups that were a little loud, which made it difficult to have a family conversation.

1 star it’s way too high, we ordered English breakfast and what we got was an egg , a bit of cold beans and cold toast with warm ish sausage. No black pudding, no mushrooms, no tomatoes. My partner was still eating when the waiter came around and took her plate away assuming she finished eating . The price was ridiculously high for what we get , it was not an English breakfast, you would eat better in the Iceland shop , don’t fall for this “restaurant” as it is a scam food

This has been my favourite hole-in-the-wall spot for years, but sadly my latest visit left a lot to be desired. I don't know if the place is under new management or whether there's been a rent increase, but a nearly 50% price hike for cream tea seems excessive, especially when the food quality seems to have dropped considerably. The scones and even my fellow guest's croissant were all microwave heated(!!) and while the extra butter and berries/grapes were a nice "aesthetic" touch, they just don't really belong with the clotted cream and jam. I don't know why my teapot had a teabag in a loose leaf strainer, but I wouldn't have minded that if the tea had at least been a tad stronger. The music seemed to be tailored to attract people in their early 20s, who were underrepresented amongst the clientele, so not really a good fit for the crowd. Our waiter was very pleasant and prompt, but seemed intent on pushing us through the whole experience as quickly as possible (perhaps that was also the intention behind the music choice). I hope some changes can be made to the preparation of food in particular, so that I can continue to enjoy what has previously been a very relaxed and pleasant dining spot.

The service has been normal until it was time to pay. On the bill, all the items were indicated as “PLU1”, creating confusion when identifying which dish it was. Also, it was not clear that there were additional items, such as potatoes, and the prices for these were exorbitant. The worst of all is that at the end of the bill, 12,500% taxes were applied, when the normal rate in London is 5%. Furthermore, this percentage was not reported at any time; It was only written at the end of the menu on the back, so the customer wouldn't see it. When we complained, the waiter didn't seem surprised. These bad experiences, along with other similar reviews, indicate that this was not the first or last time someone complained. In short, this restaurant seems to use a nasty and unethical ruse aimed at tourists.

Is the best restaurant very good price

Other than location (near the National Museum) it was mid. Prices are VERY high relative to quality of food. We got two orders of eggs and fries, one jacket potato and 3 waters: 57 pounds. A basic water bottle was 4 pounds! Skip unless you don’t care about such things.

Full opening : the window says a large portion of breaded fish and chips £13.90. We went in and ordered a large portion of Fish&chips and I paid £24.69 for it (including £2.74 service charge) and we didn't drink. Deceptive, overpriced opening. The washroom/toilet is disgusting and dirty. Do not choose this place, there is a cozy and realistically priced restaurant around the corner.

Run away from this place. It was our mistake, it was empty and we wanted to try… big mistake. Two burgers with fries (you must pay the fries separately) and two Coke Zero 60 pounds (73 usd). Crazy… low quality. Seems scam. The guy who served was very friendly, he is an employee, it’s not his fault of course.

Expensive and not very good. Well the chips were ok but the lasagne was awful. They sneak in a 12.5% "service charge". Unsurprisingly it es almost empty when I was there on a friday evening, I should have known but i was tired.

This is a cool little spot with great food and no pretense. The afternoon tea is as good as anyone else’s but at 1/3 the cost. The dinner entrees were also very good. Highly recommended.

We ordered several dishes, and were pleased with all of them. The desserts were good, too. The service was able average. If you want some good quality traditional English fare, this is a good choice.

It's basically thawed Costco food. Even the sauce and water is Kirkland. Of course, at a price of gold.

London's best Englisch food? It means London's worst Englisch food. Weithin 5 mins after ordering everything was served. No taste, ready-made sauce, absolutely overprized for everything. If you are hungry, go ahead and avoid this! 1 Star for meal are 2 top much!

Really bad English breakfast , for the price in the menu I had big expectations , I receive a poor breakfast , 1 sausage cuted in half , white bread bad toasted 1 egg, Beens,and a small portion of ham for £23 pounds I feel cheated.

Way too expesive! Food was average, but def not worth this price. And they took 12,5% for a tip! Overall we paid for 2 person average lunch 70+ pounds!

Extensive menu but nothing to highlight about the food. It is close to the British Museum but the hygiene is fair and the food not too good. Fast attention

We popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprises we didn't have the main meal as we just wanted a quick bite. We were pleased with what we got. I had hexsalmon amd cream cheese sandwich and my husband had the blt. More than enough and was really nice.

You shouldn't come here for high tea. I got almost nothing for what I paid (29£). Both pieces of cake were frozen and also of very poor quality. The scones were small and the tea too strong. The staff was friendly.

Expensive and bad food. The XL fish and chips were very small and greasy, and tasted like frozen. We ate it the day before somewhere else and it was double the size for 5 pounds less. The hamburger, 2 slices of bread, with the meat, an egg and 2 pieces of lettuce from a bag. Very expensive for a poorly prepared and fatal meal, I do not recommend it at all.

Popped in for a drink. Didn’t order food. Ordered a cappuccino and a bottle of beer. Was given a complimentary bowl of chips. The chips were decent. However total cost was £14. I didn’t know this till afterwards as my husband paid. Personally I’d have challenged this price. Staff friendly but poor English, so difficult to u sweat and. I needed to loo before we left. I walked in and walked straight out again. Blood on the loo seat and in the loo pan. Now I know this could have happened minutes after the loo was checked but Christ, never in my 58 years have I seen that in a loo. I told a member of staff it needing to be cleaned and we left. It’s an odd place. Claims to be British but on the TV was some god awful South American music. I’d avoid people. The fact there are no responses to the complaints, says it all.

Fast service at weekday lunchtime. It wasn’t busy. I had the fish and chips, influenced by the “best fish and chips” sign out front. It was fine but not the best tasting or value. I found the batter crisp but doughy in some places. It was expensive for the location and quality at over $30 for the “medium” portion and a coke.

The Fish and chips taste amazing

Location was close to our hotel. We were hungry and fancied something substantial. We were charged 12.5% service charge! The food was average to say the least- we asked for a medium rare steak which was well done- the waiter didn’t even ask how we wanted it done and it was pretty clear he wasn’t going to relay our wishes to the chef. We were totally ripped off! Manager would clearly rather rip off the few customers that go in, rather than get good reviews! There was no one else in- we should’ve realised! Feel totally naive! Were charged £11.95 for a bottle of beer and £12.95 for a glass of wine!!!! I never review anything but have made a point of doing so- you have spoiled our weekend- shocking! Shameful! Do not make the same mistake!

Save yourself time, money, and your stomach by avoiding this place. The fish and chips not only came out very bland but extremely undercooked. It also tasted like it was stored in a fridge for way too long. They don’t mention it but the 11 pound fish and chips is NOT the same fish used in the 17 pound fish and chips. I asked for clarification and was told it was a “cheaper fish.” After being served, 4/4 fishes served were undercooked, we sent 3 back in and kept one. You don’t have to think much to guess who got sick and unloaded their stomach into a bin a block down… also the beers are very high priced.
