We were not disappointed from being greeted by our waitress for the evening "Andrea" who was delightful throughout our meal to the food which did not disappoint I can just say that the icing on the cake was when my husband was serenaded by 3 lovely waitresses with a cake singing happy birthday ...5 stars for service, ambiance and value for money

The place feels more like a cocktail bar than a restaurant, a feeling reinforced by the seating - I felt like I was sitting on a rather lumpy sofa. The people next to us were having an early afternoon tea. Food was ok but a bit ordinary. Try the pies, which were good. With so much competition around in this area this place needs to decide what it wants to be.

We had a meal here Good Friday and have to say for the price the worst meal I have ever had out in a restaurant. Also very busy and extremely noisy. Certainly would not recommend. We had Shepherds pie with a teaspoonful of insipid cabbage which would have disgraced a school dinner.

There is no question that the staff took care of us. For my party of 6, nothing was too much trouble and multiple wait staff were so very helpful without being intrusive. Chatty, noisy, friendly, elegant kind of place and clearly popular (though I like quieter restaurants myself, but that is a personal choice). As for food, hm. Very good, is my feeling. No heights of excellence; I guess it was a bit over-hyped in the comments here. My sister loved the bone-in shepherd's pie; me and my mum were pleased with our sea bass - crispy and delicious with a faint taste of aniseed, though underseasoned. Dad happy with his ale pie. My side of kale ('winter veg') was lovely and fresh though I was deeply unimpressed with the 'sauteed' potatoes, which in my experience should be crispy and wonderful - and just sat there, vaguely grey-brown. Given that you pay separately for sides, I wasn't ecstatic. Oh, my starter of king prawns was TOUGH as all hell, and the scallop shell it was served in appeared to leak all over the table. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. But again, not excellent. BEAUTIFUL crockery, water jugs, glasses. Everything looks great. Prices are really reasonable. So much to recommend it - again, staff, you were so lovely - but not sure I'd go back for the food...

Until recently I'd never been to Scoff and Banter, but as it's so close to Donmar Warehouse, I thought I'd try it for a pre-theatre meal. I was impressed - very good meal, the most charming, attentive, helpful service I've experienced for a long time, and good ambience and atmosphere. Have already paid it a return visit and had the same positive views. A cut above many of its rivals in the same price range.

We arrived nearly 2 hours late due to road closures in London but this was not a problem and we was not rushed in any way. I really wanted to give this restaurant four or five stars, but I just couldn't.Plus points:- It's in a great location, in the Seven Dials area (near Covent Garden)- The decor of the restaurant is warm, soft, inviting and cozy- You can hear yourself speak, which is a rarity in restaurants these days!- The service was very goodNegative points:- The food. It just wasn't great. In such lovely surroundings and with great service, I really expected more. But my chicken just didn't taste great. There weren't a lot of gluten free options. There also weren't a lot of veggie options, although my friend loved their veggie pie - about the only thing she could eat!

The house restaurant of the Radisson Blu hotel in the bustling West End-Covent Garden neighborhood, Scoff and Banter offers a contemporary take on the eccentric (to Americans and others) English traditional menu. "Bubble and Squeak," Shepherd's Pie, Cumberland Pie, and other pub food specialties are presented with seriousness and some flair. The location is great--around the corner from a pack of West End theaters--and the room comfortable and spacious. If it feels a bit generic, like an up market hotel in any major city in the world, so be it. The prices are moderate and the service just fine.

We went in for a quick meal before Romeo and Juliet. Didn't expect much since it was in a hotel but it looked better than other choices. It was a great surprise how delicious it was! I had the two course special: celeric soup and Cheddar Spinach Turnovers. The soup was interesting but I didn't love it. The turnovers were terrific! Flakey with mashed potatoes and spinach stuffed inside. My husband had the pork sliders off the regular menu and he also enjoyed them. It was a real shame that we had to rush-it would have been so nice to savor it. Plan to go before a show and leave enough time to enjoy your meal. Probably it's a good idea to tell them you have to make a show-it took quite a while, though I'm sure the quality of the food required the time.

We walked up from Trafalgar and it started to drizzle. The street cafes were suddenly all full. As we turned into Leicester square the heaven 's opened and we dashed into the first covered place round the corner. It was opposite the Theatre Ticket booth so we expected it to be another very busy spot but we were lucky and found a corner table with a view of the park area, and out of the rain! I went inside to find the Ladies room and discovered it to be a Radisson Blue hotel which we had experienced in Stanstead airport. Very nice inside with huge open windows, but we were happy to be outside. We tried the fish and chips, and a vegetarian pie. Both were excellent. I am finding the UK very good for vegetarians these days, and comments were that the fish and chips were the best yet.

For dessert my wife had the Eton mess and I had the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream and caramel sauce. It was to die for. Absolute bes dessert I have ever had. The service here was very good and the fish dishes and artisan bread we had were nice but the onion soup we both had was pretty bland and needed some white wine and cheese to give it more flavour. it was also served in a tin mug which was odd for a supposedly upmarket restaurant. The Eton mess was just ice cream with a few pieces of broken meringue on top, doused in very sweet raspberry sauce and the ice cream was also drowned in the same very very sweet sauce. The food we sampled did not justify the prices charged.

We were a table of two each time we entered. We signed on for the breakfast "special" through the hotel Radisson where the restaurant resides. I would say the staff try their best but the cooks cannot cook eggs to suit at all. Every morning we attended for breakfast (4 days) we saw waiter staff running egg dishes back to the kitchen as I needed to happen with mine. On one occasion I ordered eggs over easy/light, they came to me well done. On another, I ordered an omelette lightly fried, it arrived from brown and over done (at least for me), there was a second and third attempt to correct, but each time it came back deep brown. I mentioned that the cook/s do not seem to know how to cook eggs, the staff just looked at me with an expression that said, yes, you are right. The staff did not need to affirm anything for me, I witnessed it over and over. We also had a dinner, which was not half bad. I gave the review only 3 as the seating is horrible, you are placed on top of another table (right beside) you cannot and I mean cannot leave your seat for the buffet or any or reason without knocking the other table or spilling your coffee and theirs all over. You are often placed right beside the computer system and where the waiter staff chat, awful. Also, the decor needs updating and the seats need to be refinished because if you sit on a bench and for a party of two someone must sit on a bench seat...it is so deflated as the foam has compressed into a paper thin wafer. You are literally sitting on a board in a hole and can hardly reach the table. The staff will bring you a large back cushion that will rise you up but once again, try and leave your seat, good luck. I suppose if you are full of spirits you will not notice or care. I would give 4 stars to staff and 2 to the restaurant so I must give a 3 overall. I will not return. Just so that everyone knows why we ate breakfast there so many times if we were not satisfied...when you arrive you are tired and often frustrated as the hotel made so many mistakes with our account, no room ready, etc that you sign on for a special price for the breakfast and once you sign on you must take it or you pay anyway, there is no negotiation to try to get out of that...we tried...even that was messed up by the hotel, as they has us down for only one breakfast, yet we were a party of two and we signed for both people. We ate dinner there due to a credit from our travel agent due to a mix up...so we had many opportunities to review the restaurant, over and over again.

Following a successful evening with work colleagues in April, I thought it would be great to take the family for a lunch to Scoff & Banter Covent Garden yesterday. The food was indeed very good yet the ordering of the wine and staff behaviour thereafter left me a very unhappy customer. The wine list is short yet has some good quality wines on them. The first wine I ordered was in stock but had just been delivered hence was not cooled hence I had to make a second choice - a bottle of Chablis by Bouchard & Fils. Yet when the waiter arrived it was a completely different wine that the waiter would have simply served without making me aware of it. As I recognised the mistake immediately, I was told that the wine in question was not in stock but I could have a discount on the bottle which quite frankly would have been the realistic value of the bottle. Hence I ordered the 3rd alternative.Making the maitre d' aware of the situation I was then greeted with a hostile attitude to the subject which truly put another angle to the poor experience yesterday! If you vary your wine list then I think it would be appropriate to advertise it accordingly on the wine list - it is simply a case of up-dating a page of A4 paper according to Trading Standards. Once a customer is being misled, one would expect a friendly and professional customer service attitude from the person in charge hence I would strongly suggest that Eva receives some additional customer service training! Yet I shall not come back to check it out and hope that other customers won't have the same experience!

Buzzing atmosphere on a Friday evening. Our server Andrea an extremely pleasant lady and nothing too much trouble for her and another young lady whose name I didn't note unfortunately. It is in an area where you are going to pay a bit of a premium, but the premises are quite classy and the prices are not outrageous. The cuisine is English. We all had and enjoyed the whitebait starter which came with quite a spicy sauce. Mains were mainly pies which again went down very well. As has been noted sides have to be paid separately, I think most if not all were £3 and the portions are generous. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was pronounced "delicious". A cup cake with candle and scattered berry fruits accompanied by a staff chorus of Happy Birthday for the birthday celebrant in our party was a nice touch. A most enjoyable evening overall.

Stayed at the Radisson Blu on 30th April 2016 and ate dinner here at Scoff & Banter and wanted to let you all know what a great restaurant this really was. Now I'm not saying that it was cheap neither was it tremendously expensive for a restaurant in the middle of London but I have to say that the food was fabulous. Both myself and my husband had the rib eye steak which I can honestly say was probably the nicest steak I have ever tried....yum yum !I had my steak with Sauté potatoes with caramelised shallots with winter greens, caraway butter and a red wine gravy - my husband had the steak with polenta chips and some of my winter greens and also had the red wine gravy. The steaks were cooked to perfection :-)Couldn't fit desert in sadly but made the most of the cocktails, I had Russian rocks which was delish :-) They weren't cheap at £9.00 per go but nice for a treat and truly scrummy. The staff were great and very helpful - We would deffo recommend :-)

At first we thought this place was amazing. The service was great, friendly attentive but not over the top. Our cocktails came quickly and they were incredible. The starters we had (salmon fish cake and prawn cocktail) were delicious. But then the mains ruined our experience, to say we won't be going back. The steak pie was great (£12 for a single pie no side) but the side of chips and gravey were both tasteless. The steak was basic not what you would expect for £18 and that is literally just the steak you have to pay extra for sides, paying separately for parsnips and separately for carrot mash and another price for the tasteless peppercorn sause. Both mains left a greasy residue in our mouths. For how much choice there is of other restaurants in the area this was overall disappointing, especially for the price.

We booked this restaurant for our sons 18th birthday . Nice table and pleasant staff. Wonderful cocktails. Menu is quite small all vegetables are extra cost but good portion. Nice starters, main course was nice but slightly overdone especially the fish and the chicken. Didn't have desserts as too full. Overall a nice lunch and lovely attentive staff.

The service was good though could have been a bit more tentative given it wasn't very busy. The food was delicious and fairly priced for lunch. Would come back

I visited with a friend on a Friday evening as neither of us have been to the chain before. We booked but the restaurant emptied out once the pre-theatre crowd had moved onto their shows. The decor is really cosy and the seats are so comfy. The toilets are also very clean and flashy! The food is what I've knocked a point off for - the classic pub-grub style dishes are somewhat limited. My pork sliders were fine and my friend enjoyed the shepherd's pie but it wasn't anything to write home about and not a venue to bring any foodies! However, for the central location the price point is very reasonable. The staff and drinks really make this place. The service was spot on - reminiscent of a high-end restaurant more than a mini-chain. When we mentioned we wanted to move to the bar area for cocktails after dinner, a table was found in the bar and reserved, our drinks orders taken in the restaurant and there waiting for us at our new table in the bar - excellent!Overall it's a great location for a pre-theatre bite or a cosy catch up with a friend where the location, service and drinks are more important than the food.

I tend to immediately ding a restaurant a few points for originality if it's a chain, but the crew at Scoff & Banter seems to have figured out a good formula, so there's no sense penalizing them for making it convenient with multiple locations. The fish was perfectly prepared, and I'm kicking myself for NOT ordering the sticky pudding with sea salt caramel ice cream. My friend had it and offered a bite - and it was delicious!

We had drinks in there before going to the Cambridge theatre to see Matilda and breakfast the next morning as the Scoffe and Banter is part of the Raddison Blue where we stayed. Very nice place to meet up and the Breakfast was one of the best we have had in hotel.

Scoff and Banter is a bar/restaurant located within Radisson Blu Edwardian Mercer Street Covent Garden, very convenient for the West end within walking distance of many of the places we visited including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden (5minute walk). The bar and restaurant staff were all most attentive and courteous always greeting us with a smile. Ben the bar manager greeted us and shook hands when we arrived, nothing was too much trouble to him which was so much appreciated, this was our second stay at the hotel. There is a varied menu for breakfast, with a plentiful amount of food served, similarly the lunch menu, plus sandwich light meals also available, the sandwiches were so large we shared on the second day, as they were served with chips and side salad, very filling.! Overall the bar/restaurant was of a very high standard, which was very much appreciated by us both.

Walking by this restaurant before going to the theatre and tried it by chance. Friendly service, finding us a table quickly on a busy evening. The food was delicious and served promptly, in fact it was the best meat pie I have had for a long time, beautiful pastry and tasty filling with well cooked vegetables. Altogether very satisfying!

Took my mum on Easter Sunday and we had the 3 course set menu plus a choice of cocktail or prosecco (booked through open table). The restaurant is lovely, busy but not too busy or loud, very relaxing in fact. Food was good, especially the sea bream I had and cocktails were yummy too. Service was pretty much spot on, attentive and very polite. Would definitely recommend for a drink or food. Afternoon tea looked lovely too that some people were having! Thank you!

Expensive (£37.99 for adults and £17.99 for children) for what we paid. Perhaps a bit more variety for the children would have helped. Seven and nine year olds tend not to eat bland sandwiches these days!

Chose Scoff & Banter from Open Table, just looking for something informal for an early pre-theatre dinner. Went for the 3 course special at £25.50 per person including fizz or a cocktail. Nice atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. Food probably would have been better from the A la Carte menu rather than the special deal, and not sure how the bill ended up at £68, but after a very complicated explanation of deductions and adjustments from the waiter, it was time to leave and go to the theatre so it wasn't questioned further. Anyway, it was OK but there are better places around Covent Garden.

This is a pleasant restaurant with good food but nothing particularly special. When we arrived, the member of staff wanted to seat is in the bar rather than the restaurant where we had booked (one of us is in a wheelchair). She did not know there was a ramp available. The service was attentive and the food good, but surely not the best British food ever, as their website suggests. The banquette seating was uncomfortable as I could not actually teach the table from the sofa! I don't think I will be back.

Booked a post theatre meal online, having never used Scoff and Banter before, however have passed the Leicester Square restaurant which always looks busy and welcoming. The online booking offered three courses and a glass of Prosecco or Cocktail for £25, which we opted for. The food was all beautifully cooked, and presented, and the staff really attentive and helpful and smiley :-)Overall a really pleasant dining experienceThe only point I would make is Scoff and Banter is tucked away in the back of the Radisson Blu Hotel and proved quite hard to find. Perhaps this should be made clearer on the website

Overall the food was good and the staff were pleasant. The only negative was really the time it took to get anything to eat or drink. We had booked for 7pm and not an issue waiting 10 mins to be seated however it then took a further 20 mins before our drinks order which meant we also ordered our food and then another 15 mins before our drinks came ( 2 bottles of wine and 1 beer no time consuming cocktails ) 40-45 mins before a drink I feel is poor. Please note the restaurant wasn't busy there were plenty of free tables so cannot offer that as an excuse.

We visited Scoff and Banter, Covent Garden in November to enjoy the Matilda afternoon tea. We were spending the day in London to celebrate my sons 4th birthday. I am a big afternoon tea lover and therefore my son chose for his birthday treat to have his first afternoon tea and was very excited about it. I chose Scoff and Banter as it seemed from the website to be tailored to children and we liked the idea of receiving the Matilda book which we could then read on the train journey home. We arrived at 13.40 and was sat down at our table fairly promptly which was booked for 13.45, the afternoon tea started well with the lady that showed us to our table getting a cushion for my son so that he could sit more comfortably at the table. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and we had been waiting about 10 minutes with no waiter appearing, no menus, we thought this was strange but didn’t like to complain until another couple came in and were immediately seated, menus given and drink orders taken. We then called a member of staff to ask about menus, we were given menus (although with no apology) and ordered our drinks. Two tables arrived after us and fairly quickly received their drinks. We were still waiting and again had to call over a member of staff and ask about our drinks, by this point we had been seated for 35 minutes. We asked how much longer our food would be, we were told a few minutes. The afternoon tea finally arrived at 14.30, 50 minutes after we arrived. Eating out with children can be difficult enough without a 50 minute wait, luckily we had an activity book which amused my son for some of the time. There was not once any apology from the staff and if anything they look confused that we seemed annoyed. The afternoon tea tasted okay although the sandwiches were slightly stale and after sitting there so long we hurried our food in order to get on with the rest of our day. We asked for the bill and I refused to pay the service charge which had been included. At this point I was waiting for the Matilda book which had been advertised but the staff didn’t mention it so I asked. The waitress gave a mumbled response about it being finished, I asked her to repeat as I didn’t understand and she gave me a piece of paper to write my address and said a book would be posted to us. Based on the service received I would be very surprised if we do receive the book and am left feeling very confused as to why we didn’t receive one on the day. I am so upset that part of my sons birthday day out was spoilt by this experience and the terrible service by the staff and certainly not what I would expect from an afternoon tea which appeared to be targetted towards children. We will definitely not return to any Scoff and Banter restaurant in the future.

Hubby and I stumbled across this restaurant within the Radisson Blu hotel after our visit to the National Portrait Gallery on a Saturday afternoon. Spent a nice leisurely couple of hours enjoying a lovely meal and a couple of glasses of wine. The food was quite tasty and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Ambience was adequate...relatively quiet even though there was a baby shower and afternoon tea being served. We do recommend a visit and would go back should our travels bring us to London again.

Stopped in for a light lunch after visiting the British museum. We ordered onion rings and the fish and chips to share. The service was the best we've had while in London, the food was hot, fresh, and delicious. The lettuce that was garnish for the onion round was fresh and crisp and made a great salad. The fish was cooked perfectly, so crispy, and had flavor. The chips were hot and some of the best we've had in London. We would return if in London again.

Chaotic serving area though staff were doing a fair job. Wanted to order some of the nice looking cake but it was displayed unprotected just inches from the faces of queuing customers so wasn't going to take the risk with COVID and colds about!

After a long day traveling, The Royal George was our first stop in London. So glad we did. Friendly Scottish banter, Ged and Sam couldn’t do enough for me and my family. If you are in the area, be sure to pay this place a visit. You won’t be disappointed We’ll be back 👍
