Lovely pub located by the canal. We had lunch when visiting some friends who have a canal boat and were assisting them with the locks. I have been to the Shroppie Fly some years earlier when visiting them, and as it was the height of summer the pub car park was full. So despite some negative reviews, I found parking a lot easier and Mike kindly allowed us to park our car overnight having asked and made ourselves known.

Having booked for lunch with friends from Wirral,North Wales and Cheshire we were astounded when we arrived to find the pub closed. No one bothered to call and tell us,how rude.We left a mobile contact number. We were even more annoyed when a lady passing by told us that it had been shut for about a week! People like this give the trade a bad name and do not deserve custom.

I joined my wife & in-laws for a beautiful late lunch here one rainy day in July. Whilst we originally opted for the canal side seating, the beautiful English weather had other plans! We dashed inside for shelter and found a table plenty big enough for the 6 of us, we could even squeeze a wheelchair in. Whilst the majority of our party opted for the scampi, I was daring enough to switch it up and order ham, egg & chips, I have absolutely no regrets. My brother in-law ordered pie and it looked delicious, everyone left happy, quenched and full! The food is proper home cooked comfort food, you won’t be disappointed. Dale was an absolute superstar from the day of our visit to recently helping me with a dreaded parking ticket, he has been amazing! We can’t wait to come back, I might have to order one of everything!

This is a lovely traditional canal side Inn. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a good menu that offers dishes for diets including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The service was excellent and the food was very nicely presented and of a really good quality. Very reasonable prices as well. A wonderful location next to the canal with nice walks from the front door and lovely Audlem just yards away. Good free car park as well. Free wi-if. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely return.

I have visited this pub for food and drink for many years and always enjoyed it. However I wont be coming again or recommending anyone to visit. I visited at the end of May in the evening, unaware that there was now a need to register at the bar. Granted there were signs outside but I was on a night out with friends so we were chatting and didn't look. The staff would be aware that I wasn't local so why did they not say to register my registration.?It would only take a second to do this. The manager should have briefed them to do so. I went again the following week unaware of the change at the carpark. I subsequently received two fines I paid the first one and emailed Brittannia as I was going on holiday to ask about the 2nd fine. and could pay it whist I was away. They assured me there wasn't any further fines. I returned from holiday to have a. Inflated fine of £100 as I exceeded the 14 day period to pay £60. I spoke to someone at the Shroppie Fly who responded that its happening all the time! As i had paid cash there was nothing I could do. There were numerous other reviews with a,similar experience and I have to wonder if the manager is getting a cut in these fines. I'm a member of the U3a walking group and have informed them of my experience .. They responded that they will use one of the other pubs in Audlem for lunches in the future .

After reading some bad reviews we almost didn’t come here but it’s in such a good spot I thought we would give it a go, we didn’t book, was met by the landlord who said he could sort us a table. Nice guy who was run off his feet as well as was very sunny so outside was full! Food didn’t take that long and was good, I had the tomahawk too which they said might take a while. Good beers and very good New Zealand wine which my wife loves. Kids food was good. Left car in carpark and had a great walk along the canal afterwards. 3 beers, 2 large wines, kids drinks, 2 adult starters and mains and 2 kids meals was £100. Quite happy with that. Will return

After an hour's wait for food, a polite enquiry by my brother-in law was met with a tirade of abuse bluster and excuses from the owner. After delivering one of our family group's meal to the wrong table, we were told that was our fault ( still trying to work that one out) The meals were served in dribs and drabs, and an hour later we were still Waiting for 8 ciabatta's . We were told they were short staffed in the kitchen, didn't realise ciabbatas were haute cuisine, surely they didn't need that amount of prepping! We were a family group of 12, plus 3 very well behaved and patient children, they should have been served first, but chips and chicken nuggets were beyond the kitchens remit. Upon leaving the premises, I mentioned to the owner, maybe he ought to try brushing up his customer relation skills, not arguing with the customer especially if they are right, and that an apology would have sufficed. I was met with another tirade of abuse, won't be darkening his doors again. If you look out of the pub window, you won't see a herd of wilderbeest roaming majestically across the plain, nor the hanging gardens of Babylon, or a Torbay sea view, but narrowboats moored against a beautiful picture postcard setting, Audlem is a lovely village, and a pleasant family gathering was spoiled by a very rude, inept man.As for running a hostelry, I wouldn't trust him to run a bath!

Wow what can I say, we have just returned home from a family lunch at the Shroppie Fly and I wish we had gone somewhere else. On arrival the pub was quiet and we were seated with no problem. We ordered and paid for our food and then waited and waited we had young children with us and after a 40 minute wait we enquired as to where the food was, to be told it depends on what you have ordered and how busy it is in the kitchen, at no point when ordering where we told there would be a wait on food. The food then started to come out in dribs and drabs. Many of the orders were ciabattas and to have to wait for over an hour and 15 mins for this and then another 10 mins for the chips to arrive was totally unacceptable. We asked to speak to the manager well what can I say about a very rude man with a terrible attirude challenging us on not booking a table, how busy his pub was, how he would have got more staff if he knew who who was visiting. My advice to anyone going here is think twice because once you have paid, this guy has your money and isn’t really bothered what experience/service you receive. The only saving grace was the polite young lady who waited on our table and understood our frustration at the poor service we received, and the food when it did arrived was decent x

This is a good place to come for good beer and good food hence the four stars. Our waitress/table server was a certain 5*. The setting, canal side by a lock in the sunshine is a perfect 5*. Take no notice of the reviews written...

We visited twice whilst on a narrowboat holiday - once for drinks and then for dinner. We felt safe with all the cover measures in place and enjoyed the traditional pub food including the chicken pie and chips. It's a great place to watch all the boats going up/down the Audlem flight.

Food and beer could not be faulted. Friendly and attentive service in a beautiful location. Felt safe and well spaced tables.

We're fairly new to Audlem and this gem of a pub has become our local. It's situated on a lock & it's lovely watching the narrow boats go by. The staff are very friendly, attentive and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband loves the beer there and thinks the cellar is well kept. Whilst the menu is limited (difficult times for the hospitality sector), it's well cooked with fresh ingredients. It's a great place for dog owners if you don't mind your pooch being spoiled rotten, We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I found this pub whilst being on a family holiday nearby. Great friendly service and amazing food at good value for money. I would definitely visit this pub again if I was in the area.

It is good to see this pub continue to do well and the new owners have done a brilliant job in turning it round despite the pandemic. Food was delicious and prices are reasonable. Well done to you all.

I moved near to Audlem about a year ago on my narrowboat. I have started using the pub on my own for awhile now. Normally sit reading my book enjoying a few beers which as a real ale drinker is always spot on. Lucy and the other staff are very friendly and have made me feel very welcome. I have not eaten there but earwigging other people who have I have never heard any complaints and it always looks scrummy. The staff are attentive and work very hard in keeping customers happy. Would highly recommend to anyone to pop in for a pint. Thanks to all the staff Jon

What a great pub , welcomed by Paula , 40 + of us descended on her and her team for a pre wedding drink , which turned into everyone ordering food , the poor guy in the kitchen was run ragged , the food was good the drinks were reasonable for Knutsford . Thanks a lot you were all brilliant !

Cheap beer but that's about it. Only pub I know where you have to queue in an orderly line to get to the bar! Can't comment on the food

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.
