Full of “people” swearing and ignoring there out of control kids running around pestering everyone. Never ever again, terrible!

Met for family Sunday dinner. Booked a week in advance for 12 of us. Nice people. Although seemed inexperienced which is fine everyone has to start somewhere. Long wait for order to be taken, had starters ideally toddler meal should have been brought when ordered with the starters. The toddler meal was forgotten and came when everyone else had finished! Extremely long wait between starter and main. Adult meals brought out first kids waiting getting narky! The food was ok, gammon way too salty. Only one dessert option!!! Part of meal payment was given and staff presumed no desserts were going to be ordered and so came over asking if we were ready to settle the payment. Can partly understand this but it did make us feel we had to leave. I do think the place would benefit from a few experienced staff to lead the way then it would be a cracking place.

I cannot believe the drop in food quality at this pub. Undercooked veg, really stringy, chewy, and grissly lamb. Small portions. Chips still ok but so not anything we have had there before. Even the smaller Yorkshire pudding was tasteless. Absolutely waste of money. My partner had mince and onion pie He said it was very dry. Will not be going back anytime soon.

I went to one of the Christmas party nights. For £30 the food was average. I could not cut into The stuffing as it was that hard!The Eton mess was sloppy mess and I complained to a member of staff who just said sorry and offered an alternative. The singer was ok but a bit full on . Shouting at us to come and dance. There was a group of people below us who were vaping inside?! Didn't stop for a mince pies and coffee and made a quick getaway. It was not a nice experience at all.

The Shoulder of Mutton had been recommended to us for food and so we tried it this tea time to see if it lived up to expectations. The pub is a large modern open-plan pub and now serves food from 4.30pm most days. The barmaid was friendly and the chef came out himself to take our order. My mum had fish and chips and I had veggie lasagna with a salad. The place was quiet and food didn't take long to arrive (but not too quick either!). The fish was a good size and had a beautiful crispy batter, the fish itself was perfectly cooked and not dry, flaking under the fork. The hand made chips were tasty,as were the mushy peas. The lasagna was not over facing and drowning in cheese, served with a fresh and crunchy salad. I declined the chips, but did try a few of my mums! Overall I think the place offers good pub grub at very reasonable prices and we will definitely return to try other dishes. Several regulars were drinking next to the open fire, but there was a welcoming atmosphere and we were greeted by a friendly dog, which is always a nice surprise and gives a homely feel that a village pub benefits from, I think. I think the standard of food was exactly appropriate to the Shoulder, so don't go if you are looking for fine dining or gastro, it's a relaxing meal not an ordeal. Good for families and perhaps older couples who want something familiar - but try not to worry about the lively music!! Give it a try if you haven't already, I hope they keep up the good work and go from strength to strength, adding variety to their offer as they become established.

We heard this place had recently been refurbished.. well other than the new outside area and painted front they certainly need to do something with the inside. the women's toilet were filthy and smell of urine and I'm told the same for the men's. The tables are sticky and glasses stick to it, buffets look like they are stained and seats are torn.. not a place we will be going back to.

I popped in here to have a lovely relaxed Sunday lunch and that is exactly what I had. Food was delicious and a fair sized portion for a large carvery meat plate with all the trimmings. The food here just gets better everytime and I can only see it improving each and every time. Friendly atmosphere and polite staff. I would recommend this pub for food and drinks. I shall be returning in the not so distant future.

We originally were headed to the Bottomley’s arms but after driving past the Shoulder of Mutton on my way home from work daily I suggested we go there instead. What a mistake. We walked in and it was clear the pub was booked for a party. We wandered aimlessly for around 2 minutes before having to approach the bar and ask if we could have a table. Very awkward. We sat on a table with a sticky menu and a staff member approached us to ask for our order. We asked for a food menu to be told they don’t do food despite the sign outside reading ‘pub and restaurant’ and the bar area signage staying ‘Eat’. The staff member suggested we go to Bottomley’s arms. The difference in the experience was indescribable. Within 2 minutes, despite how busy they were, we were seated, given menus and drinks orders taken. I highly recommend avoiding this pub unless you are a regular. The staff are unwelcoming and unfriendly and the atmosphere is diabolical. Go to the Bottomley’s arms just down the road where nothing is too much trouble!!

Ok we have used this pub on numerous occaisions and have never been disapointed it is basic home made pub ffod at great prices and the food service is great. My but in the title comes because it is a local village pub and it has many regulars. On occaisions they take over the bar area and it is not appreciated if you ask one of the "buffit sitters" as i call them to move so you can order drinks or better you struggle to pick up the glasses once you have actually got your drinks. Lunch times are easier, but of course evenings can be problem and weekends even worse. Still we will visit again.

Popped in for a quick beer. .ordered 1 n half pints of snake bite ( yes half lager half cider ) was charged £7.55.. mm £5.00 a pint ehh Was told the till wouldn't add up a half, so we we're charged for a pint. I DON'T THINK SO.. got our half and done one... miserable pub and service

We booked the pub to shoot a short film over the weekend. Confirmed for both days 9-12. Saturday was great we filmed half our footage and were happy. We cleared up and asked if we could help do anything else to help( as they had a hog roast for 200 people that evening),we were told no thanks. Today we got to the pub at 9am as agreed , we knocked on the door,rang the bell, rang them (went straight to their answer machine) we waited till 9.30, nobody answered the door,no message or phone call was recieved. (The landlady lives above the pub,windows upstairs were open,cars were there) This has caused all the film footage we shot yesterday to be useless now,therefore we are going to have set another date to shoot the film in a different pub.Time and money have been wasted due to not been able to shoot today. (I apologise if some unforseeable event happened that caused us not to use the pub) all i can gather is i am very annoyed due to the inconsiderate and rude nature seen today.No explanation.no apology.Nothing.

Been driving past this place for over 4 years. As i wasn't alone this time on business, but had been out with my fiancee we pulled in just for a drink. Landlady was very very friendly as was the locals inside. A really nice place which I will be calling to again, next time try the food.

This place is/was a regular lunch time venue for us as it is close to our office and the food is usually great and very reasonable, however not on this visit. We called in for lunch on 10th July, due to the weather my colleague and I fancied a salad. Unfortunately this was not possible as “they haven’t started using the summer menu yet! My colleague decided on salmon for her main, this was offered with new potatoes and either seasonal veg or a side salad (odd as we were told we couldn’t have salad as a main!). We asked if a boiled egg could be added to the side salad and were happy to pay extra. Unfortunately our request was declined. I opted for a seafood on a sizzling platter, served with rice and naan. This turned out to be more like a fish curry, served on a skillet. Mainly white fish (frozen) and a few prawns. Very bland and not what I wanted on such a hot day. In fairness they deducted 50% of the price of my main as they could see that I had eaten very little. This is the first time that we have not been satisfied and have eaten here many times so it won’t stop us visiting again as hopefully this was a one off. Hopefully the summer menu will be launched before autumn/winter sets in.

A decent is pub, but don’t expect it to be like big city pubs, it is a small village pub that gets the job done

started off a bit of a real ale trail here with some mates the beer was spot on and the lady behind the bar was freindly and knew what she was doing i'd deffinately go back

Just reading through reviews going back to the one in january 2018 the lady from bedford can i point out we do not do food or do we have a ball pool maybe your visit was to another shoulder of mutton !!!

For a reputedly family pub, it is a disgrace. Kicked a 12 year old out who was sat talking with 5 adults in an empty pub. Bar staff comments - there the rules, go somewhere else if you don’tlike it.ill call me manager down who backed up the same uneducated decision. The pub trade is dying and with people like this facing customers i can see why.

My two small children were hungry and tired and intermittently crying. As a parent this is embarrassing at the best of times but we didn’t know the area and we were glad to see that food was available. Being a ‘family friendly’ restaurant I hoped there would be a slight tolerance to this. Instead I had the LANDLADY looking at us from the other side of the pub in utter disgust. The menus had dried sticky food on them and the waitress flicked off dried food off of a plate in front of me before giving it to me for a pizza we had ordered. The children’s play area toilet had drink bottles, balls from the ball pool and other nasty stuff in the toilet from at least the day before. The landlady snapped at us not to go in there as she was still cleaning it. How can you keep kids out of a children’s play area? Just don’t open up to the public until your ready.

What a lovely atmosphere after going out for a meal we stopped off at the Shoulder of Mutton the staff were very helpful in helping to choose my friends drink as this was her first time in an English pub. Will definitely call again

This venue is always changing hands but never seems to improve.The sta\ff are neither welcoming nor helpful, when I mentioned a dirty sticky table I was given a cloth!!!!!! i will not be returning.

Excellent quiz,let down by the state of bottles/glasses behind the bar. The majority were covered in dust. Poor bar keeping.

Yet another excellent addition yo the place. Now serving authentic Thai food on an evening cooked by Thai ppl. The foods excellent. Excellent value for money. Can be eaten inner or taken away. Highly recommended place to visit.

Such a shame management put non starter ideas above regulars of this Sunday night popular weekly event. If you want to feel valued as a customer don't come to this pub.

Lovely home cooked meal, the meat was full of flavour, sourced locally straight from the farm, portions large enough for a hearty appetite. Will definitely come here again having eaten here once :-)

Llamado aquí mi marido y mi nieta pareció jardín sería una buena idea. Entramos en el pub y vacío preguntó si estaban haciendo comida que fuimos y volvimos 20 minutos más tarde y dijo que eran. Pedí 2 bocadillos calientes de carne y un menú...

Fue tomada por día de madre de mis hijos, pero era muy decepcionados cuando llegamos allí y nos dijeron cosas ya han desaparecido del menú. Tenía algunas graciosas degustación hongos y sobresaliente era muy salada y mal cocida.

Had two meals here now Valentines day and Christmas Day...food lovely tasty and value for money...portions sizes fill my hubby. Decor up to date and mine hosts very welcoming.Hope they stick with it as I know they have plans for various evenings ie..quizes live bands etc.

Under new management . Food great just had homemade steak and ale pie and very full and happy . Tasty meals local produce . Newly decorated getting busier .

What an improvement. Was a great the. Became a dive. But now filly refinished and the food is excellent once again.

New owners, menu and decor have made such a difference to this place. Have eaten there twice recently and always received a warm welcome. Food is delicious and menu well thought out...much nicer than a chain pub with 2 for 1 offers. Would benefit from a wine list but I would definitely recommend this and will return.

- Prawn cocktail on a plate??? On top of that the smallest of frozen prawns with a coloured flavoured mayonnaise. All presented as if it had been thrown onto the plate. Small portion.- Beef Sunday dinner. Burnt and what looked like a frozen Yorkshire pudding, two small pieces of beef which was probably cooked without any extra flavours. Very expensive to say the least for £7.95.- mixed mash indoor kids "play area" hence why two stars as the kids enjoyed theirselves.

Greeted by a waitress with her midriff out! A bit unprofessional in my opinion. We were the only people in the restaurant until a couple came in about half an hour later. Their order was promptly taken so I asked if one of the 3 waitresses stood doing nothing could take ours. I was told WE had to order at the bar! The prawn cocktail came without salmon. When I questioned it I was told I had only said prawn cocktail. I also only said chicken for the main but I expected it to come as stated in the menu! The choice of potatoes was apparently chips! We had to ask for the wine we had ordered. The food was ok when it eventually came. Basic pub food, but at restaurant prices. It certainly was not restaurant service. I don't know how they would cope if it was busy.

Called in for a evening of drinks with a few friends. Fairly busy but not packed by any stretch. Took 40 minutes to get served by the rude staff, who seemed to be serving the locals first, rather than trying to look after potential new customers. Ridiculous.

Just a joke ... Went Friday evening looking forward to a meal as the menu looks fab online ! I asked the bar staff how to order food to e told there would be a delay as a few people had just ordered !! Ok fine although the pub looked empty to me , went to bar after buying drinks to be told they were no longer serving food , the girl behind the bar didn't offer and apology or explanation although they let me but drinks a few mins before when I enquired about food !! The menus were still on the tables and I think that this may have happened to another couple that came in shortly after !! Anyway won't go back , rude staff and badly organized !!!!AVOID

Once again ,another pub getting the basics wrong .Pub itself very run down Going for the 'in vogue' craft beer and real ale .Excellent choice of both .Food menu looked good .Arrived Friday teatime for a well deserved drink after work .Walked in to be greeted by 3 young ladies behind the bar .Stood at the bar waiting to be acknowledged .They all completely ignored me and carried out talking .Silly young giggling girls Not one during the 30mins we spent there moved from behind the bar to either collect glasses,move plates or check the beer garden .Where was the management Where is the supervision What is the point .Close the pub ,do something else that doesn't involve customer service .Went home opened a beer out of my fridge Should have gone straight home from work .

Quite ironic really that I'm writing on here as all the menus tell you if you have a problem to tell somebody not write on trip advisor! Although their didn't seem to be any front of house management? First time trying this place after moving to the area and hoping it would make a nice local! Ordered drinks at 6.45 and enquired about food, was told yes order at the bar but expect a wait as they are very busy. Was only about ten people in so we thought it would be fine, got some drinks and sat down to look at menu. My partner went back to the bar to order food ten minutes later to be told that no food available as they had had to shut the kitchen due to it being too busy?! Would have been nice to have been told this before buying our drinks. How the kitchen couldn't cope with a couple of orders I don't know!! No apology or anything off the bar staff who obviously couldn't care less as long as they were earning their £6 an hour. No wonder we had not heard many good things about this place with this terrible service, and not to be serving food on a Friday evening at 7pm is disgusting.Ended up having a great night anyway by walking 8 minutes down the road to The Bottomley Arms! Great service from staff who couldn't do enough for you, great prices too! And the food was excellent. We are already planning our next visit. So if you are reading this review, do yourself a favour and go there instead! Don't waste your money here.

My daughter took me out for a treat. She had hot roast beef baguette and chips, I had chicken baguette and chips. A really good portion well worth the money.

Arrived around 1pm for a pub lunch as the menu looked really nice. On ordering we was told there would be an extra wait than normal as there had been a rush on orders but as the place didn't seem too busy we said ok. We waited an hour for our food and as there was only one girl serving it came out very slowly and the six of us all ended up eating at different times. By this time we were all very hungry but was very disappointed as the food was very average and not very well made or presented. My bacon on by burger still looked raw and all the fat was still white and another in the group ordered a chicken club sandwich which first came out in a wrap so had to wait longer for them to put it right. Then when it did come out the bread wasn't buttered and looked like it had just been thrown together, my 8 year old daughter could have made a better effort. All in all the food was terrible along with the service. Will not be returning.

You won't like this=I used to go in regular on Sundays to support Mark who runs karaoke,I have been working Sundays for a while and returned last Sunday 29 March, was amazed the state the place was in,tables that stuck to your hands,staples sticking out under chairs to stab hands of the unwary,food brushed of tables on to chairs to soil your clothes,hand dryer in toilet broken.tap on vanity unit bust through surface,window frame held together with one inch of silicone,pipes to flush urinal broken radiator absolutely filthy,My partner says ladies loo the same disgusting,rest of pub carpets stuck up with trodden in food,Anyway put my HUGO BOSS £199.00 jacket on back of chair to find when ready to go a patch 2 inch by one torn out plus a tear lower down created by screws sticking out of next chair, I spoke to the landlord his answer you can have the chair.(this to me an admittance of liability)this place has gone down since LEO left.

Went for birthday drinks Boxing Day night. Snow got really bad, couldn't get a taxi from anywhere due to snow conditions. Bar maid then informed us they was calling last orders at 10.30pm who was very rude to us as we had nowhere to go so we basically were getting pushed out in to freezing conditions. Very unhappy with the service we revived.

We usually eat in the pub further down the road but heads glowing reviews about this place so gave it a go, I had the steak and ale pie, very juicy and tender, my brother had a pizza was very Impressed. Keep it up

Had steak n ale pie, had to send it back because the tiny crust that was on it was burnt underneath, when it came back and I stared to eat it, the meat was very tough, I ate it but to be honest it was awful, my husbands burger was not much better.the place was mucky and had no atmosphere.on paying our bill I told the young lady that it was awful and was not even given an apology.we won't b e going back.I am disgusted.

Came in over the weekend visiting my parents, I heard about the improvement from this place so we gave it a go....very impressed, we all want for the carvery for £6 really good value, we also notice they had a wide range of good selection of drinks and proper cask ales, will be back on my next visit.

We had my brothers 30th surprise party here, the organisation was fantastic, food beautiful and all staff were great! Would definitely go back as the pizzas were yummy! Great price for the whole party and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! The landlord helped with the surprise and organised all my guests! Lovely guy! :) Thank you for having us!

I recently went to the Shoulder of Mutton whilst in the area and I was thoroughly impressed. They had a great selection of craft beer behind the bar, some which I had not had before which allowed me to discover some new favourites! Me and a friend both ordered pizza from the menu, it was the best pizza I have had in a while. Will definitely be visiting again!

took family out for Sunday lunch big mistake/Cold roast potato, cauliflower cheese rock hard, Yorkshire puds doughy, meat uncooked and tasted vile. never again

Disgusting food full stop.! We went there and had the haddock and chips and mushy peas. Unfortunately the fish was meant to be white but was brown and plainly old and the chips had been been warmed up. All in all would not recommend at all!

My partner and I were passing through to Manchester yesterday and were recommended the Shoulder by a friend who lives in the area. We stopped for a light lunch. The pub itself was reasonably busy but there was a good choice of seating available still. We ordered a pizza to share (excellent choice of toppings) and a bowl of chips. As someone who has many bad experiences with pub food not being made fresh on the premises, I was happy to find the pizza was clearly freshly made, didn't wait too long for the meal, and the chips were wonderful. I've noticed some negative reviews on the chips but I thoroughly enjoyed them! (They were more potato wedges than chips and tasted freshly fried). We relaxed with some lattes to finish. Overall the service was good and friendly, the food was all fresh and tasty and we had a great time! Shame we couldn't stay longer!

Went recently on a works night out as original venue let me down. Great food and service really nice atmosphere and music. Highly recommend it .

I attended a staff night out at the Shelf Shoulder of a Mutton recently. The staff were very gracious of the group arriving reasonably late in the night and greeted us with smiles. The selection of ales and bottled drinks were brilliant, all reasonably priced! Everyone attending the night had a great time as the pub has a pool table, a wii console set up and also provided a DJ who was happy to take requests. Overall the staff were extremely polite, friendly and courteous, I would recommend this pub to groups looking for a fun night in a lovely pub.

Me and my friend ordered food at this pub. I ordered Chilli ,rice and Garlic Bread. My friend ordered Ham, Chips and Eggs. When the meals were served it was extremely over cooked, infact it looked like left overs that had been there all day. The rice was like pellets and I asked for it to be changed, I was offered chips with the chilli instead which I said ok. When he took the meal away he dropped the garlic bread on the floor. When it arrived for the second time the chips were that badly burnt they snapped in half and who know s if the garlic bread was changed. I complained and told him I couldn't eat any of this was never offered anything else just said he would knock it of the bill ,I laughed at this and said I wouldn't be paying for it anyway, My friend said her meal she has never seen ham like that before, say no more.We were offered a discount of 25 per cent of the next meal we said if you offered 75 we wouldn't come back. The pub is dirty and needs a good refurb and a good chef if you want your customers to return. Its a shame because it was a really nice pub a few years ago .No wonder your always empty now we know why

We had tea here this evening, we used to come here often but have not been for a while would not go again . The soup was advertised as home made tomatoe and parsley. It was Heinz in a tin. Gaelic mushroom ok but lots of black pepper. Home made chips warmed up .. Sorry don't go .

Where do I start! Hardly anything left on the menu to order, and it was only 5.10pm! What did get served, was extremely late (3 hours from starters to desert) over cooked, un boned fish, extremely tough sirloin and mutton. Hairs in my daughters main course. Food served without the right sauces from the menu (they said they ran out) a total embarrassment, from a poorly run kitchen with a poor quality chef.This is before the bill came, where they tried to charge for all the courses they couldn't serve as they had run out, including drinks we hadn't had, and it wasn't even busy!After showing them the bill, they did remove over £45 for meals we never had.Lesson learned. It looks nice from the outside, the pub is ok, but I would not encourage anyone to eat a meal there unless it's crisps behind the bar!

I went to watch my friends band here years ago and me and the wife were passing and went in for a bite to eat. I think it has been taken over since i last went in. It was good food and reasonably priced

I used to come to this place a lot a few years ago and it was great from the staff to the food to the atmosphere but now it has new owners I was shocked when I returned. The staff were rude and the food took 55 mins to come out and then the order was wrong and the waitress didn't seem to care when she asked if everything was ok she just took the plates and was never to be seem again

Went to the shoulder for the second time while visiting family up north. What can I say but "belting". Fantastic food and fantastic atmosphere. Will be back again !!!!

I booked at the shoulder last minuet for valentines day. The lady on the phone was very helpful and kindly slotted us in even though they where busy.The food was lovely, I had the set 3course valentines meal -��15 and my partner had fish and chips and a pud. Compliments to the chef! Big portions, well presented and perfectly cooked. We felt it was great value for money! We even stayed for some of the d.j. Music.- defiantly improved 100% since the new owners took over.

This venue was used for a reception after a christening, we were very impressed! Lots of local real ales on tap to choose from and the food was excellent! Brilliant choice of hot food and even soup and a roll! Would definitely recommend!

We have visited 'The Shoulder' now on a number of occasions whilst in the area and can highly recommend the food and friendly atmosphere. The tables are always busy with locals and their families and every meal has been well cooked and presented. There is something for everyone on the menu including wonderful freshly made pizzas. The Sunday carvery is as good as any other we have tried - huge portions of beef and turkey with Yorkshire puds and a choice of 5 vegetables and potatoes, The last time we visited I tried a sirloin steak, and this was very tender cooked perfectly to my liking. We had to wait a while for our meal to arrive as there was a large party of locals in that evening - but the wait was well worth it. They said they are just waiting delivery of an Italian coffee machine so will look forward to trying this next time we visit. We'll be back!

While driving from Bradford to Halifax we spotted this pub. Feeling a little peckish we decided to pop in and what an excellent choice that was. The food was excellent, the service was belting and the landlord (Luke I think his name was) was friendly and welcoming.We will defiantly be coming back this Friday for "Corkers & Belters"Thank you Shoulder of Mutton!!!!BRILLIANT!!

Brought my family to two of the shoulder of mutton's fantastic nights. Halloween and Bonfire night. We especially enjoyed the professional fireworks, mulled wine and BBQ, we come most years and it's the best yet! Looking forward to whats on over Christmas and using some of the vouchers we picked up.

We call in here at least once a month for out tea. The food is great, fish and chips top notch. A warm welcome with friendly staff that are very helpful. See you all soon keep up the good work

We normally go to other pubs around the area but heard good reviews about this so thought we'd give it a go.Had to wait 40mins for food which I don't mind if its home cooked and worth the wait. I ordered the sizzling platter (I.e. chicken fajitas) and my partner ordered fish and chipsMy chicken fajitas were served with sour cream which tasted like double cream so I mentioned this to the waitress of which she seemed to snigger at along with other complaints she'd received from tables around us. I was asked what other sauce I wanted so opted for mayo!!! Could have done this at home. The chicken which was served with tomato quarters peppers and onions was mainly liquid and it dribbled out of the wraps of which I had 2 and were served on their own even chiquitos give you 4 or 5Secondly my partners haddock came and looked burnt however the fish was slightly under cooked - indicates that the oil in the fryer hasn't been changed for a while! The plate was swimming in oil and had about 10 chips on his plate!Would we revist? Never!!! Not with better competition within minutes if this pub with same prices and a lot better quality

I booked my sons first birthday party with you, I booked a month before and then I phoned twice the week before to make what food you were going to serve the kids. I was told that they was going to be sandwiches, biscuit, sausage roll, and hot food chips pizza and chicken nuggets and jelly and ice cream. On the 7th sept the day of the party, I couldn't get in to put the decoration up which was put in the diary that I was come in early to do so, then I paid £100 for 2 plates of sandwiches that children couldn't eat because they was in crusty rolls, a plate of biscuit an sausage roll and 2 bowls of crisps and jelly & ice cream. I didn't received any hot food that I was told, staff was really rude. I got £40 back but I still don't think that was good enough. The food that was served wasn't anything like what you would have at a one year old party. Thanks to you and your staff you ruined my son first birthday party. If anyone asks me about your places iam going to tell them the truth how much you have disappointed me and my family and friend. Bad rate 0/10

I went with my family for the Sunday carvery,food didn't look edible it looked like it had been sat there all day. We opted to take a choice from the standard menu which was tasteless and poorly presented with veg from the carvery which had been sat in water and had no flavour. When the waitress asked if everything was ok and i explained I wasn't happy with the meal she just said ok and walked off. I defiantly wouldn't recommend this to any body and I won't be giving it another go.

Absolutely appalled at the food under cooked steak & ale pie it was more like a liquid lunch, fries were raw, mash was more like smash it was horrible experience after waiting over 45 mins for the food to come, also the service off the pub landlord was disgusting explained about to him about the food ect he wasnt bothered no apologies no nothing, would not recommend this pub in any way.

The Monday - Friday BOGOF offer is excellent value for money. The food is not your basic mass produced fare instead it's solid home cooked food with good sized portions. The home made pizzas are also excellent value

This is a great pub if you want some serious drinking at a good price.sadly it is hard to get a seat unless the weather is good in which case you can sit in the beer garden whch id large but sadly shadowed by large surrounding buildings. Would I go....yes when i want a cheap drink on a dry and warm day.Sadly as it's in Bradford centre there is nothing much else to do there once you have seen the fountain and wool exchange ,unless of course you like pound shops

This place used to be local pub rather than a restaurant and it still has that sort of feel. After changing hands a couple of times over the last couple of years the ownership seems to have now settled down. The food is of average quality. I had the chicken as bacon salad - not a particularly complicated dish one might think - and it was a nice enough dish until i reached the bottom and found a centimeter of cooking oil. At least drain the meat before adding to the salad and certainly don't dress it that way!!! The rest of the food was reasonable pub grub although certainly nothing spectacular. I would consider this place for a pint and a pie but probably not a sit-down meal, for which the price does not equate to the quality, sadly.

For our 25th Aniversary we were given a voucher for the Shoulder Of Mutton by a family memeber. We went with our two boys aged 22 & 20. The Sholuder of Mutton as now been re-reervated, and looks great.We decided to go on a wednesday night and what a great menu, I had Gammon with a lovely egg and not like other places also added a Pineapple. The wife had Scampi and what a portion, the boys had Fish & Chips (More like a Whale) with mushy peas. We all enjoyed our meals which tasted yummy. Each night they have special offer of a certain menu 2 for 1 before 6.30pm.On a weekend they also do eat as much as you want Calvery, it sounded mmmmmmmmm.Never been in the Shoulder Of Mutton before but waht a great atmosphre and the service was excellant with a smile and couldnt do enough for usWe will be going back , enjoy

Vsited the Shoulder of Mutton in Shelf for lunch with Family. having visited this pub many times before and not wanting to go too far, "The Shoulder" was an ideal lunchtime venue. How wrong we were... Three of us all ate the same meal, which I have eaten many times before.. Chicken a la creme .. usually very nice .. however the accompanying chips were terrible ... well over cooked and very sparce to say the least. The fourth person in our party had a fillet steak with Diane sauce. It looked really nice when it arrived about 40 minutes(?) after we had ordered - until half way through her meal she spotted the dreaded strand of hair .. which clearly wasn't hers. We complained and we got another steak free of charge but the shine had gone by then. Like I say, i have visited here many times before, and maybe someone was having a bad day, but when you pay over £45.00 for four people for lunch, you would expect better?!
