We have been having our Sunday lunch quite regularly. As our last experience in St tudy changed management and had different ideas What the ship has for us is the vegetarian Wellington, not found anywhere in the local area. What the ship lacks (in the retro pub refurb in inverted comers ) is the friendly welcome and a feeling of a local establishment that leaves it's welcome where it matters hospitality and food.

Went there with our kids. They both had pizzas and chips. One adult size, one children's size. They were both healthy portions that they struggled to finish. Really high quality ingredients clearly home made. For a Monday evening it was pretty full with the bar sporting a number of folk who were clearly locals. A really good atmosphere, good food, reasonably priced. Would happily recommend it.

A great, friendly pub where we had an evening meal. The food choices were extensive. Such an array of choice. The portions were such that we couldn't fit a dessert in. Some people had pizza left, so the staff arranged boxes to be taken home. Brilliant atmosphere, somewhere to park and great value.

Parking was a bit tricky since the restaurant is off a busy road, but we did find a spot in the small side lot because we had an early booking. Food options were limited for me due to a capsicum allergy, so the waitress suggested substituting chicken for a fish dinner, so that was what I did. The chicken was a bit dry, but perfectly acceptable. I did have issues with the odor of cigarette smoke wafting in from somewhere. I can only attribute it to a beer garden in the back of the pub. The waitress was very sweet and accommodating which made the experience pleasant, but I wouldn't write home about it.

We had a great dining experience at the Ship Inn lastnight! I opted for the burger, which was delicious! The little addition of jam was a lovely touch and the burger was cooked to perfection, juicy, and packed with flavor 🤌 My wife went for the steak, and loved every bite! The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed throughout our visit. There was a tiny mix-up with our chips, but the team resolved it quickly and generously offered us an extra portion without hesitation. It’s this kind of service that makes a meal memorable. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back for more!

Absolutely lovely roast dinner. We showed up at 7:45 pm without a booking. They only had the turkey left as a meat option but it was beautiful. Really moist! It is described as wrapped in bacon and with stuffing well we didn’t receive any bacon but that was fine I think the point of mentioning this is to highlight that it will not be dry and it really wasn’t, best turkey I have ever have. The veg was lovely and the roast potatoes great too! And the Yorkshire pudding was huge! They even give you a side jug of gravy as well as gravy on the plate. 10/10! Oh and it was only £14.95! And the staff are fabulous! Thanks for a lovely meal!

My husband ordered Turkey roast, it was really lovely. I ordered the curry, my daughter ordered the meatballs. All meals were delicious. Came in for a Sunday roast and we were the second party through the door. The first was a party of 4 and we were a party of 2. Had to wait 1 hour for our food although it was pleasant when it did come out despite missing the advertised Savoy cabbage and bacon (we didn't raise this at the time as we'd waited so long for our food). Admittedly, we were 30 minutes early for our table so I don't know if that's why service was slow. I understand there was a larger group in the back too. The cost of the roasts is very good (just over £13 if I recall correctly). Parking was a bit of a pain as only a few tight spaces but we did get the last space. I understand we could have walked up the hill from town. I would try somewhere else before coming here again.

Took my wife here last night for her birthday Can’t say we will be returning, We purposely try and go somewhere different each time we go out to support our local businesses, upon arrival we had to specifically ask to be served a drink even though it wasn’t very busy menu was served on a sheet of paper no issue but was wrote to be quite a extravagant selection of food setting hopes high for our meal choices I selected king prawns for starter this was really good setting the bar for a main however partner and her friend chose chorizo and wasn’t overly impressed, Also waitress's was not overly happy to be there or doing there job also having a conversation about our table after we didn’t get a chance to say thank you for the drinks we had been served, Next we ordered another drink and my partners half a glass was taken off the table without asking if she had finished Out came the main and looked pretty good However the triple cooked chips are not triple cooked at all and the burger was so dense I couldn’t even eat the whole thing making it non edible the partners meal was also not great neither was her friend pasta meal Took us nearly 45 mins to get the bill and this only happened because we went upto the bar on our way out £75 pound each it cost us after the bills was split and I believe for what we received this is very over priced for what I would call basic bar food

Had a nice experience at this pub, it’s massive inside, cosy clean and very friendly staff. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my food. I had the Chicken with bacon and hand cut chips, when the chicken came it tasted like it was microwaved, it tasted like pork, super tough and hard to chew. We booked a table for 2 for 6 p.m. When we arrived,we went to the bar and told the person who we were and he then asked if we wanted drinks before he picked up the menus and asked us to follow him to our table. We were told that he or a colleague would come and take our order shortly. Once our order had been taken. We only had a short wait. When the food arrived. We were impressed! We had gone for the set menu of starter, main meal and dessert. The starter was a good sized portion as was the main and dessert. The food was very tasty. The pub has a narrow walkway up to the dining area. It's just wide enough for one person. Once you are in the dining area there is about 8 tables. There was an additional seating area beyond the first dining area and there was a small beer garden. The staff were all very nice and polite. They all seemed very busy and very happy to help. There wasn't a huge wait between being served our food and the plates being cleared. Everything seemed to work really well and the tables were cleared quickly for the next customers. There wasn't a lot of space in the bar area but it was enough for the people wanting to stand and drink at the bar. There are toilets. There is a sign in the first dining room which points to where they are. As nobody in our party used them. I just know there are toilets in the Inn. We were staying at the local Premier Inn and because they couldn't book us in to their restaurant due to a lack of staff. We booked a meal at the Ship Inn. We certainly were glad we did. It certainly was Premier Inn 's loss The directions said that it would take about 10 minutes to walk from the hotel and it was exactly that! The Ship inn is a great eaterie and the staff definitely deserve recognition. A great evening.

Terrible food every single portion of chips was soggy, my hake skin was slimy and the cod from the cod and chips was burnt but undercooked on the inside (clearly have the oil too hot) the cod also left a pool of oil on the plate, not very appealing. We had some charges removed by the waitress but couldn’t help feel out of pocket due to all of it being really quite terrible. There were so many things wrong with the dining experience here that I’d question if there was actually a qualified chef in the kitchen. The manager came over to offer his apology, I felt I had to point out these where basics that are pretty hard to mess up,he clearly didn’t like what I’d said as he then turned and walked off(clearly not a fan of constructive criticism. I will say though the area we were seated in was lovely and had a very nice atmosphere. I did like that they had David Attenborough on the tvs and not sports, I felt this gave a a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a real shame the food was so terrible especially as it was recommended by Friends.Needless to say we will never waste our money here again.

I think the cheese sauce had perhaps split but it was very grainy and very garlicky. Luckily the adult Sunday lunch portions are good enough that she had stuff off our plates and we weren't exactly hard done by! Good selection of ales on tap. Prices for both food and drink were really good. Signed up to the "Kernow Hospitality App" whilst sat in there and received a welcome £5 off the bill. All told, a sharing starter, 2 adult Sunday lunches, a kids meal and 4 drinks for £55 is cracking value these days.

A little gem of a restaurant. We were greeted warmly by staff with a smile, shown to our table and given enough time to settle in before our orders were taken. A Sunday lunch and a sirloin steak with chips and the usual accompaniments was delivered in a good amount of time. Well, where do I start.... I think the steak. I asked for medium rare and boy did they deliver. This was perfectly cooked all the way across. Tasty and succulent with a good quality beef. They chef is talented, no doubt there. Good quality potatoes were used for the chips, Portobello mushrooms, vine cherry tomatoes, and a peppercorn sauce all added to the meal. Along with the pleasant staff was a quaint setting tastefully designed. There's even a log burner for those cosy gatherings. If I was forced to find the most modicum of faults it would be parking, however, this is due to the high standards set, so not a surprise that it was full. There is an option to park on the roadside though so not much of a quibble in fairness. To sum up.... Lovely staff, nice setting, and beautifully cooked food. I would highly recommend this place. I look forward to visiting again.

Dropped off in as it was a CAMRA recommended pub. So disappointed - rude service & unsmiling service at the bar. We felt very unwelcome.

Conveniently situated next to the highway. Plentiful free parking. Super-friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious. Comfortable beds. Nice bathrooms. The biggest downside was awful wi-fi. The free version was poor and the payable 'ultimate' version no better. So much as we saw many pluses, if we have no wi-fi we can't work, so can't really come back.

Went last Xmas Eve as a treat. Was appalled. The sprouts were undercooked, not to be confused with el Dante. Tasteless dinner sadly. No flavour. Not great. You go to these places paying good money expecting a superb experience but sadly not. I need to stay home and cook top food that could be served to any experienced chef and applauded
