Lovely friendly pub in a beautiful spot overlooking the river, conveniently located at the end of the Bissoe Trail, so excellent for cyclists and walkers. Sunday roast was hot and tasty, with great Yorkshires and buttery roasties. Had a pint of Potion No9, which was well kept and good. Will definitely be back.

Arrive at 2.40pm order drinks from most probably the owner who couldn't even say hello and we clearly pick up food menus. As is normal behaviour decide on food over first drink. 3.10pm order food to be told no food after 3pm. Would not recommend, felt staff to be rude and unwelcoming.

What a great pub set in beautiful surroundings. We stayed locally and walked to the pub and we were able to find a table inside for food. The fresh fish dishes were delicious as was my potted pulled pork sandwich - although I would have liked more bread or even two decent slices of granary bread. There was a good selection of beers on tap and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The pub seemed really popular with locals and visitors alike which is always a great sign. Definitely recommend.

Average looking pub, taking advantage of the fact that it is the only pub in the village and charging rip off prices. Only had drinks, didn’t bother with the food. This is Cornwall, not London!

Have just returned from a very disappointing meal at this pub. We were pleased to get a table being a Saturday evening especially as we hadn't booked and were looking forward to a good dinner. However the menu was very limited and uninspiring. We decided to order the potted sandwiches which came with a small undressed salad garnish (no coleslaw), a sourdough roll (not rosemary foccacia) and a couple of butter packs. I had the pulled pork which was mushy and unappetising with apple sauce clearly from a jar and my friend had the crab which was heavily salted and lacking in flavour. We could tell from the presentation of the food that we'd made a mistake. For the price charged £18 and £20 it was very sub standard. I also ordered a glass of merlot which I then had to return due to the bad smell of the glass, think of a dirty tea towel! Our general impression was that the staff were inexperienced including in the kitchen. The standard of our food and the overall experience was not only disappointing but unacceptable! We live locally and would not recommend eating here! People should be able to expect higher standards than this from a nicely located country pub.

As the only pub in the village, I was expecting something really special. The best bit is the setting with views overlooking the river. Service was good, Guinness was cold, but the food so-so. I had a small portion of battered fish, chips & mushy peas for £10 (standard size was £20). The fish, advertised as fresh, not frozen, was hot and tasty, but the lukewarm chips were just frozen string fries which I ate as I was hungry. I opted to take dessert home, £8 for a very small lemon cheesecake (minus mango coulis) that matched the size of the accompanying scoop of raspberry ripple ice cream. The topping was flavourless, the biscuit base claggy, so I gave up halfway. Luckily the ice cream was the saving grace. I'm used to paying London prices; this was on par with them, but the quality just wasn't good enough.

Best feature is the lovely location overlooking a river & surrounding countryside. Opted for small battered fish & chips with mushy peas for £10 (standard size was £20). Fish was lovely, served hot; chips were frozen stringy fries served barely warm. Took dessert home - lemon cheesecake with raspberry ripple ice cream (declined mango coulis) for £8. Flavourless with claggy biscuit base, so most went in the bin & just ate the ice-cream. Service was fine, but food a big let down. I won't be back.

This is the second time we have been here while holidaying in Cornwall. The Old Quay Inn is comfortable, cosy and quaint with a really good atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu may not suit everyone as it is not your usual every day pub food which makes a change , but does include a select range of homemade burgers such as a lamb one and a hulumi one with all the trimmings making it unique. The food was excellent, well cooked, nicely presented and very tasty. The croissant filled with cookie dough and nutella served with ice cream is something I had not seen before. The service was very good with a decent waiting time between courses. We will certainly have this superb little inn on our list to revisit when we are hopefully in cornwall in 2 years time

Wow, ordered two crab sandwiches for just over £20 each. What arrived was a plate containing a pile of salad, a bowl of coleslaw, a toasted bun and a small Kilner jar containing what looked like mayonnaise with chopped spring onion. This I was informed was the "CRAB MEAT". Honestly we both searched our respective Kilner jars and we could not find any crab, in fact you could not even smell crab, just mayonnaise and onion. Then it dawned on us, the crab had run off, just as fast as 3 other customers we had witnessed had. I was given a full refund, but the "chef" was too busy to speak to me. I think they were too embarrassed to hear some constructive criticism...a Crab Meat sandwich needs to contain crab... Be authentic and stop trying to dupe your customers, offer real and quality food, not a facsimile that you are trying to pass off as "trendy".

Went on a Monday which is never a good day, (chefs tend to have Mondays off). But the food was overpriced and barely adequate, fish cakes were unlike any previously experienced, not in a good way. Fish and chips were okay, but cold plate equals cold skinny fries. Desserts were best part of the meal, and tbf we had one free to compensate for the fishcakes. Asked for coke and got diet Pepsi from the tap, such a shame for a pub in such a good location.

Popped in hoping to enjoy a few pints of ale and maybe a bit of lunch. Unfortunately the 'real ale' was a choice of 2 equally horrible citrusy, fruity, gassy (and very expensive) beers. I get that these modern 'craft beers' are the trendy thing but we were hoping a Cornish village pub might offer some decent best bitter. Can't comment on the food as we drank up and left to search for a decent pint elsewhere.

After a lovely walk out with my partner, we decided to check out the old quay Inn. We looked on trip advisor and wasn't sure. But we carried on and got to the old quay Inn to be welcomed by the land lord John and the barman Ollie and Tom, where do I start fantastic people, reviews saying the landlord was rude bla bla bla I tell you now there's not many places where you get a warm welcome from a land lord who sounds like the one and only Alan Partridge 🤣 hilarious chap. We had a fish finger sandwich and mussels and a few ice cold beers again amazing and really enjoyed every bite. Again other reviews saying pricey, when you have beautiful view, amazing food and drinks you pay a little more and its cheaper then most places within a 30mile radius. If you only earn a pittance due to the financial dark hole we are all in, Weatherspoons do a pint for £3.50 and a burger that chef mic cooks (mircowave) if that's the kind of food you want go there. My partner would like to add that the builder who was there doing painting work had a beautiful singing voice and definitely needs not to give up his day job I highly recommend the old quay Inn and will be going back for sure to see the friendly staff and John who is a legend. Keep up the good work guys see you soon Brett & Flick

I had the pleasure of The old Quay Inn being my local pub whilst working locally. The staff are fantastic and knowledgeable about the local beers and food plus recommendations for fishing hotspots. Made me feel very welcome and went out of their way to make sure everything was right. The selection of locally sourced beers and ciders is very good, the food is excellent and locally sourced ingredients where possible, my favorite was the small mussels which allowed room for a pudding! The chilli fries are a meal on their own. Wide selection of kids meals, soft drinks as well. I’ve seen some reviews about it being a bit ‘pricey’ but I believe you pay for quality, if you want a mixed grill for 15 quid then go to the beefeater up the road which overlooks a Premier Inn and the A39, the views from the Old Quay inn overlook the creek. All the food is very, very good I went through most of the menu on my frequent visits and everything is freshly cooked to order and tasty. The terraced garden at the back is quiet and tranquil, a good place to eat and unwind weather permitting. Inside is very relaxing, lots of wood, very pleasant although it was just undergoing a fresh coat of paint on the inside and out for the last 2 weeks I was there. A really big thank you to all the staff as you made my stay a lot more enjoyable.

This pub is situated at one end of the Bissoe cycle trail that takes you from coast to coast - Portreath to Devoran. We were on a family walk utilising the iWalk app & the pub advertised itself as serving food all day. When we arrived we were handed menus & not told there were any issues. We bought drinks & sat down to review the menu. The ONLY vegetarian option was plain chips or cheesy chips. When we enquired, we were met with a sullen uncommunicative & unhelpful response & told there was only the chip menu on offer which cost £10 each plate! We drank our drinks, used their terribly run down loos & left with hungry children! Such a shame given it’s elevated position but with no competition, why would they need to try? Our advice is to eat somewhere ends! If doing the cycle trail, plan to eat at Portreath where there are several choices or the lovely Bon Appetite at twelveheads for a far more friendlier Cornish welcome!

A disappointing family meal . The menu was very limited, basically chips with a type of burger for £15 a throw. The spicy chicken burgers were uninteresting, definately not spicy accompanied by poor quality frozen type fries, no salad trim on the side, generally very unappealing. Having grown up in the village of Devoran and now living nearby, its sometimes nice to drop in for a drink when we go for a family walk in the area. On our last visit I was appalled at the price we were charged. Two pints of Amstel shandy and two half pints of blackcurrant squash came to £17.60! Absolute rip off. £2.50 per half pint of squash!!! The pub would do well to remember not all of its customers come from affluent backgrounds and in fact, the large majority of the County's population earn a pittance. £6.30 per pint of shandy is what you'd expect in a top notch establishment in London. Not a small village pub in Cornwall which can only muster a score of 3 on its Hygiene Rating. Customer service has always been pretty poor to be honest. On one particular visit I walked into the pub during opening hours and the member staff informed me she wasn't sure if they were open. I thought it was strange bearing in mind she worked there and was stood behind the bar. Anyway, we eventually established I could not buy a drink and I subsequently left. Lovely location but with prices like that it's almost become elitist towards the type of customer it's looking to attract. I saddens me to say I won't be going back.

This is an attractive pub both inside and out. Over the years we have dropped in here occasionally when walking along the Old Tram Road. Its in a beautiful spot. Today we came for lunch with Australian family. I had rung in advance as it was half term week and Falmouth was heaving. The woman who answered sounded as if she had been woken up in bed, perhaps this should have alerted us to potential problems. As it was the pub was very quiet. When considering a burger I asked the female waitress what it came with. She pointed out that the menu said it came with all the usual garnishes. It was not specific though and I asked of it came with gherkin which I love. The waitress replied that it did, she was very abrupt and unfriendly in her replies. When the food actually arrived the burgers had no gherkin. I commented on this in a mild way and the waitress said "Well they must have run out then". This was said in way that implied I was being unreasonable and stupid. I said no more but a couple of minutes later she plonked a saucer with a chopped gherkin on it. Hurrah. The food was very mediocre. The person who had the halloumi burger said.the cheese was in a lump and had not been grilled properly. The other person who had the same classic burger as I thought it was mixed with sausage meat. I don 't know but it was not great. Afterwards coffees were ordered, I did not have one but the others said they were awful. My partner who has too much sugar with everything wanted another sachet with his. We were I think being served by the landlord by this point. He went to get more and plonked a big pile of sachets in front of him saying "That will be enough for the rest of your travels". It was the way he said it rather than what he said. Our Australian family commented on how rude he was, and compared his unfriendly manner with how friendly they had found the service in Ireland. My partner said he is "Snarky". So not a very successful lunch, which was a great pity and such a disappoinment when with guests. We felt quite embarrassed

Traditional old pub offering above average food, very friendly service with good food, veg curry was great. Dog friendly place, some outdoor seating out the front. It’s quite a small pub, down a narrow round, small car park.

Unfortunately had to eat outside on a rather chilly day but the beef was cooked to perfection. The vegetables were outstanding particularly the leeks. Service was friendly and efficient and would really love to go back when you can have a meal in the evening....

Dined here on an overcast day in August. Good covid measures in place. Despite a reduced menu there was still plenty of choice. Swift service from friendly staff. Food was very good as was the local ale. If you're looking for a proper Cornish pub,...

Popped in for lunch after following the signs off the main road. Superb welcome and service, lovely pint of Betty Stogs, and good food in a lovely location. What more do you need!

You and your team are all superstars. It was a sign of the times to see you today all masked up under the new regs (you looked far better than me in mine!). There is always a great welcome at the Old Quay Inn doing...

Delightful pub and staff. Were recommended it by a friend and glad we visited! Delicious battered fish and scampi. And one of the best sticky toffee puddings I’ve ever had! Nice outside area too - feels private.

Was gasping for a drink by the time I staggered in here at the end of a coast-to-coast hike in the scorching heat. Sank 4 pints of Guinness in record time, which cured my thirst if not my stagger! They'd run out of other unbottled...

This was by far the best meal we had out during our staycation in Cornwall, even if we had a little difficulty finding somewhere to park!We were struggling to find a table for six in the area, but The Old Quay Inn came up trumps. Between us we dined on Mylor Mussels, Scampi,Steak, Fish Burgers and Chicken Curry. It was all delicious, but a special mention goes to the mussels....divine! It ended our holiday perfectly. We even got a recommendation to cure “mask-ne” which was much appreciated. Well done to you all.

Very standard premier inn, but the door leading from reception to the rooms isn’t a slow close so literally every single person coming or going and the door slams shut. When one is in a hotel the last thing you want to hear all night is a door slamming shut

Nice pub decorated like being on a boat. The waitress was friendly and the food was nice. We booked online through their website for a table for 4 on Sunday as we thought they'd be busy and had to pay £5 pp deposit to be deducted off the bill. When we got home Sunday night and looked at the receipt my partner said they hadn't deducted it.
