Had a really spelndid time at the Mad Hatter's party. A lot of thought and effort had obviously gone into it. Delightful 🙂

Love the staff and the setting and ambience

Poor cask beer selection. Only Arkells on offer. Arrived before 2:00pm to find the kitchen had closed for cooked lunches.

Really nice atmosphere. I love this pub. I will visit again, for sure. Food was wholesome, and generous. Nice selection of drinks.

Homely feel, good people serving good food and reasonably priced...defo return

Six of us lunched at The Ship arriving about 12.30. We’d walked five miles already and were quite hungry. We had a friendly welcome and ordered our 6 lime and sodas. Each drink a little pricey at £1.50 but the food was very reasonable. Our orders came quickly. Three of us had fish and chips at £9.95 per meal, two had scampy and one had omelette, salad and chips. We were all very pleased with our food AND the excellent chips. Portions are very generous indeed. So . . . six walkers went off to do another three miles very happily and very full!!!!

Not advertised but these guys do great food. Unusual collection of furniture but a welcoming greeting and very reasonable priced food.

You can be sure of good food here with a difference the restaraunt is like sitting in someone’s dinning room with fresh flowers and clocks everywhere all having different times. Meals are various home cooked with lots of extras on the plate delicious food.

Use this place a lot. V friendly family run pub. Charming inside with great basic menu - full plates and v reasonably priced. Always made to feel welcome. Can’t recommend it enough if you want a cosy pint and a bite to eat.

This is a great place. Great staff and food quality and portions generous all in a nice friendly and well laid out setting.

A lovely, traditional style pub with an eclectic mix of decor. Real ale is available and the food is good quality and excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and accommodating. There are double, single and twin rooms available with breakfast included in the price. One of my favourite pubs in the area.

Friendly locals, decent landlord and good prices. Didn't try the food, but saw condiments on tables so imagine they do it.

I had the best baguette ever at this pub! Delicious. It’s a traditional olde-worlde pub with friendly owners. Great traditional food. Highly recommend for a no-nonsense pub in the country.

Well we found this place on Trip Advisor Lovely old country pub loadz of character Lots of interesting artifacts and really nice Landlord good home cooked food and plenty of it just 7 miles from us so I can see us becoming regulars Give it a try you will not be disappointed

Era sábado por la tarde y mi novio y yo estuvimos de dirigirse a la piña en Brimpton común (de viejos recuerdos nostálgicos, padre, mi esposa tarde). Por desgracia estaba cerrado y nos topamos bajo el Ship Inn en la colina de Ashford. Afortunadamente * * abierto era, aunque creo que en el momento en que llegamos allí (unos 3. 00) que la habían dejado de servir comida (vimos un par de caminar, consultar, luego salir). De paneles de roble y mesas de roble de olor de considerable recientemente aceitadas. Hay una amplia variedad de objetos interesantes los trenes de madera de hace cien años, cartas que data del siglo XIX, pinturas agradable. Era tranquilo, que nos vino bien. Es una posada con alojamiento con baño privado y un desayuno inglés completo incluido. Me fascinó saber que en la parte posterior de la posada es un sitio de especial interés científico, con caminos que te llevan a través de bosques y praderas hasta el río. Volveremos.

Un salto por una pinta y un plato de patatas fritas después de un paseo. Jolly encargado, muy simpático. Unos cuantos hombres sentados en el bar de olvidarse del mundo de los derechos. Este no es un pub, reformado. Es un precioso y acogedor, 'explosión del pasado". La comida era sencilla, abundante y sin adornos. Teníamos chips de queso, un chip butty y un sandwich de atún con ensalada y patatas fritas. Mucho, caliente y sabrosa, pero no esperes que parece una comida gourmet. Las patatas fritas eran grasa y pesada, pan blanco era fresca, ensalada de lechuga, pepino era iceburg y algunas conservas de maíz. Que todo es parte del encanto. Está cerca de algunos paseos y sin duda volveremos.

We love coming to The Ship, lovely atmosphere, very homely and good hearty meals, with a snooker game afterwards!

Small local traditional pub. Nice range of beers. Very good food. Nice salad, great chips. We stopped in for lunch and it is great value and really nice food. Friendly quiet atmosphere.

A group of twenty odd - we dropped in for a work lunch. Had a Stilton salad which was very nice and a huge portion for about £7. Seemed to cope with the numbers well. Good looking pub.

Always a cask ale from the barrel, food is super good value and lots of it!

Nada ha cambiado aquí en los últimos 20 años o más, amable y sociable, con buen pub pub grub no romper el banco pero le ánimo su apetito. El menú es exactamente el mismo que ha sido siempre; buena variedad de comida y bien presentada con un gran servicio amable.

Estábamos alojados localmente y nuestro alojamiento estaba a cinco minutos a pie. Por lo que pudimos ver del edificio por la noche era un pub sustancial y atractivo.

Este es un pub, lleno de carácter y cargan con los lugareños siempre que vaya. Se puede jugar a los dardos o al billar, o simplemente sentarse y disfrutar de una comida relajante!

Had a business lunch here and ate, we both had a curry and a pint of Seafarers both of which were really nice and a good price too. There is accommodation available here but I've not stayed, staff were great and the service quick.

A fair drive from thatcham but a nice pub friendly with good service enjoyed the eavening and would recomend

Stayed there for a couple of nights. Rooms were fairly priced and decorated. Rooms were cleaned every day and the linens were changed. The TV was old but it was a good size and all digital channels worked. The WIFI was also available, but since the pub really is in the countryside, the speed was a little slow. There was an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. Beers and drinks were reasonably priced, as was the food. Very good value for money. The pub has a good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and treat you like one of the locals.

we have stayed at the ship many times, always had good service andfood,rooms comfortable and clean. best of all is the chicken salad!!!! looking foreward to our next stay in may

Had two meals there. First time was gammon and chips which wasn't too bad, second time was rump steak and chips. The steak was the worst I've ever had and definitely was not fresh from the butcher as the menu suggested. I wouldn't have such an issue if it was priced accordingly but at around £12 I think I have a right to expect a quality piece of meat. I've had a better steak meal for £4.

It's a pleasant little out of the way pub and inn with phenomenal food and great beer on tap. I stay in the Newbury area a fair bit for business, and while it's a bit out of the way, it's well worth the short drive.
