We handling here every now and again because we love sitting by the small canal and watching the wildlife. The food is good value. I really enjoyed the Waldorf salad today which was fresh and tasty along with cheesy garlic bread which was a perfect side.

My friend and I visited here after receiving a recommendation from family. The sun was shining and there were several people sat outside but we opted to go inside. The tables are plentiful but it all felt a bit disjointed with two rooms inside, a covered area on the patio so to speak and then a couple of tables by the canal. We opted for an internal room but spent most of the evening in there alone after other customers left which didn’t really lend itself to a good ambiance. The canal, itself, is green and sludgy. Can’t blame that on the pub but disappointing all the same when you look on a map and expect it to be alongside water but that’s our fault for not checking it out. There was an extensive menu plus specials. I opted for the venison burger and my friend had the pork belly. It does explain on the menu that the food is freshly cooked but we waited between 30-45 minutes for our food which seemed rather long. The food was tasty and plentiful but there was no wow factor for me. It was a pleasant evening, the staff were friendly but not really high on our list to return.

First time visiting here and definitely not the last. Food was incredible, some of the best pub food I have ever eaten. Portions were huge ( never a bad thing! ). Lovely setting right by the canal and a very relaxed atmosphere. Huge car park and plenty of seating inside and outside for a local pub. Staff were very friendly and very attentive, looking forward to visiting again :)

Impromptu visit for pie night, a good decision. Staff friendly and attentive as always. Food was great, I had a special of Prawn Twizzle which was new and really tasty. Two of the group had pie which went down a treat. One had the pork belly OMG it looked good! I has a wagyu burger on the specials .... so nice. Room for pudding and a summer berry at on mess and another had a banoffee waffle. Washed down with a good selection of drinks.. A lovely visit with great food

A lovely family run pub, perfect if you're going for a walk down to the river. Lots of parking on good flat ground. The staff are lovely and they had a good variety of dishes on the menu. I'm also pleased to report that the pies are proper top and bottom pies, none of this slab of puff pastry on top of a stew nonsense here. I had a delicious steak and ale pie. The portions are big (maybe too big, I think they could easily get away with putting less on the plate). The group that I went with thoroughly enjoyed their meal and, as none of them had been before, I heard from several that they will be going back and taking their friends/family with them which is brilliant news. I'm all for supporting the local businesses.

We visited The Ship Inn with family for a birthday Sunday lunch. The location and setting was lovely. A few ordered starters which looked and apparently tasted great. However we waited a long time to then have our mains, which I believe was due to a busy service that day. The roasts were divine, although disappointing that the mains were price at £16.95 each despite online pricing stating £14.50 which we felt was a lot of money for a roast dinner. Unfortunately we ordered cheesecake which was partly frozen and had seemed to ‘curdled’ when it began melting. Staff were lovely however we were just a little disappointed with the pricing and the attention to detail on the desserts.

booked the ship inn for 3 nights to go to the Cotswold's on arrival we were shown to our room and she explained about the breakfast which I need to make clear there is no cooked breakfast here only a continental breakfast for us that was fine plenty of tea and coffee and 2 single beds. We had our first night meal in the pub which was outstanding quality and cooked to perfection the mussels I had were beautiful and the steak melted in your mouth the duck pate was very smooth the pub is of the beaten track and if using a sat nav it will take you pass the entrance but its well sign posted plenty of parking on site and well lit if you come back late. If I was to be critical about this venue there are only a couple of suggestions I would make i.e. a loo brush in the bathroom and maybe a couple of labels on the switches that operate the heated towel rail and the extractor fan rather than spending time finding out what switches do what but overall the owners are very friendly as well as are the staff prices are very reasonable and anything you ask is dealt with the upmost professionalism the décor is fresh after just being renovated room is serviced every day with clean china cutlery and milk would easily come back to this place

After visiting the Ship after the Frampton show last year and having a lovely meal,we decided to visit for something to drink and eat, again today, well I thought this public house had turned the corner and would continue to flourish, (I do so want this place to succeed) I can tell you I am bitterly disappointed, the young staff on today where charming, polite, and overly helpful 10/10, the food was brought out look good, vegetables where tasty and hot, meat was so so, (my wife just had vegetables as she didn't want the nut roast ) but roast potatoes where ROCK hard, so much so that I broke a tooth on one off them,I complained to a senior member of staff, I graciously emphasised that we didn't want anything in return for our complaint, as we do truly want the Ship to be successful, but if they weren't aware of problems how could they improve there standard of meals! She said she would tell and show the evidence to the chef, we never heard from her again so paid our bill at left

Went for a family meal over the easter weekend. The pub on entrace looked good with a modern yet warm and welcoming feel so initial thoughts were that it would be good. The reason for choice was that friends had been to their sister pub and said it was really good. To start we were to only table seated as it was very quite, they only had a small menu on due to the easter weekend with 3x starter choices , 5x mains and a couple of steaks we ordered and after nearly and hour were still waiting! Eventually Tue meals came out all bar one! 10 Mims later that one came out. Two which had ordered beef pie got a burnt rock solid crust with little moisture or juice and struggled to eat it, I had a burger which had been burnt to a crisp and was so hard you could tap a nail in with it and the so called bacon on it. What's more when you pay over £10 for a burger you expect a good portion of chips with it, I counted about 8! I sent mine back and was told another would be out momentarily. 35 Mims later it arrived as everyone else had finished and the kids were out playing, it was Raw! To say the least I didn't touch it. Customer service and attitude of the management sucked absolutely no mention of a reduced bill for the burger , nobody asked about deserts to say the least we wouldn't have had any and it took 20 Mins to get condiments to go with the meal. Some serious problems in this place. To top it all off having had to let the kids out to play as they were so bored waiting we found various piles of dog excrement in the garden a big no no for not just hygine but also with it being in a children's play area. Over all the ship inn could easily have a different name!

Three of us had an excellent Sunday meal, roast beef, lamb and venison. The food was cooked to our taste, the portion size perfect and the service excellent. Well done!!

I took my Mother here for a lunchtime treat and we were not disappointed. We both chose the Sirloin Steak and chose different ways of having it. Both were cooked to perfection and they came with the best chips I have had for a long time....... Proper home cut and cooked chips. Now for desert I chose the Lemon Eton Mess from the specials menu and it was the best and most tasty desert I have had, with a homemade curd to top it off. The service was friendly but professional and I would recommend The Ship to anyone reading this. Please do takeaways just for the Eton Mess and thank you for a lovely lunch!!!

Shame my wife and I took a friend for our second visit to the Ship after a brilliant first time, only to be VERY disappointed. The food was to put it mildly poor, dried out steak and kidney pie with over cooked tasteless veg, my wife's burger was not good good with overcooked and dried out cheese and bacon.A real shame as we had really looked forward to our second visit. The kitchen was obviously under pressure with a 17 party booking in the house, and were found wanting.

We had a lovely meal I had lobster bisque followed by steak with all the trimmings and millionaire cheesecake the ambience was great they had a couple of men singing they were very good, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite they went out of their way for one of our party as he is very fussy will definitely be going back.

We visited a week ago and the pub was very quiet but that did not detract from a good lunch. We had their chicken caesar salad which was hug and a hearty plate of Ham egg and chips. With drinks the bill came to £21 which represented good value. Definitely a place to visit again and lovely setting next to the River Severn

Last time visited “ small Americana “ was 1.95. Then 2.10. Today……2.60. No reason despite costs…..to elevate to this price… There are unfortunately not a lot of “ good coffee shops in Dursley” could do with “Costa” or Coffee1 “ Wake up call……for these stupid prices…..if you want to “ stay open” I’d review all your prices/ ….or you soon will be “ gone” No one wants to fell “ conned” last visit for me!!

Stayed at the Frocester George and ate in the dining room whilst walking the Cotswolds way. My room was lovely- room 12, relatively recently done I think with everything you could want. Spacious room, organic tea and coffee, small fridge with fresh milk in it (yay!!!!) lovely bathroom. The meal was delicious, and the breakfast great, including a wonderful selection of fresh fruit. Would happily return for another stay if I am in the area.

I'm sorry to say, that after reading great reviews and having high expectations of what to expect....the experience was a huge disappointment. 6 of us booked in for Sunday dinner at 2pm,which started well,to be honest....as we were given a choice of the main room or a table set up for 6,in a separate room. We opted for the separate room and took our seats accordingly. After awhile a man came through to take our drinks order and I went 1st....."a o% Guinness please" sorry we don't have that "but I do at my other pub" OK then "could I have an elderflower please" ...."sorry we don't have that" again was the reply OK...."could I have a lime & soda please"....."sorry can't do that due to the trigger on the mixer not working" was the reply. OK...."could I have a lager shandy please"....."sorry can't do that either came the now familiar reply! By this time,it was getting embarrassing in front of the other's waiting to order their drinks and exacerbated,on the point of dehydration....I ordered a tap water.....which along with a gin & flat tonic didn't have ice in. Then.....dinner arrived. I had ordered the 3 meat roast, pork, beef & chicken (£23.50) and my expectations were high....well sadly it wasn't to be. The 3 meat roast consisted of a slice of pork,a slice of beef and a chicken leg plonked on the top...how bizarre! The meal itself was only warm and not piping hot as I would have expected.....after the drinks fiasco,I didn't feel able to complain without drawing attention myself in front of the other members of our party at the table. Finally....the bill came and as well as charging us for £2 for a lime & soda which I couldn't have, an £18 plus service charge had been added to the bill. That was the final insult.....£18 service charge for what exactly?? No drinks of choice and a luke warm meal. I wanted to dispute the service charge but again....I didn't want to draw attention to myself and possibly put my other party members in an embarrassing situation. I would like it refunded to be honest, as another issue I encountered while there....no soap in the soap dispenser despite visiting the toilet at the start of our meal and then again an hour or so later after the meal. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't eat there again or recommend to others to do so either......maybe it was "just a bad day at the office" for the pub on the day of our visit, but then the service shouldn't have been added automatically,if all of the above had been taken in to consideration.

When you book online then go pick up your order in the 20 minutes they said it would take and wait for two other people before you who booked on-line to be served, then your next waiting at counter yet someone who came in 3 minutes after you who's stood behind gets asked his name and served before you isn't good customer service.
