Used to be good, but really let down the last couple of times, fish no longer as fresh and chips really gritty

Honestly worst fish n chips I’ve EVER had in my life! Fish batter soggy, vegetable spring roll burnt and wasn’t what I was expecting, chips stone cold dripping with grease and I honestly believe the curry sauce is going to make me ill! Awful awful place! Customer service was horrendous really rude I will definitely not be coming again and I highly recommend you do not waste your time money and effort on this place. Disgusting!

Excellent quality. Large portions. If you are a coeliac/GF this place is for you.

Really disappointed, fish was soggy and tasteless and Southern fried chicken was 80% bone! Awful! Barely had any spices on it to be classed as southern fried in the first place. Won't be coming again

Excellent fish and chips as usual

A great, local chippy and often quite busy, which says it all in my books. On occasions, the food can be a little more greasy than I'd like, hense a 4 out of 5 stars, but on the whole, I'd still recommend this place. The service is great and the staff are friendly and work really hard to complete your order as quickly as possible. 5 stars for them.

Fish was plentiful but not great quality and not very appealing. Would not go back.

Don't expect to order on line and request ASAP and have to wait an hour at an English takeaway. Terrible service. Then can't get an answer on there phone. So went in to explain to them and get told tough we will have to wait.

Consistently good food. Prices have crept up considerably, but I guess that is true of many businesses that are facing increases in overheads.

Visited this shop for the first time a week ago, the fish,chips and mushy peas were all well cooked, definitely worth a visit. Fast service too.

Best fish and chips for miles. All freshly cooked. One downside, too many chips! My portion was enough for 3 people!

Burgers raw I got cholesterol poisoning from it. Fish still a hook in it.

I had small fish and chips with curry sauce. I like the paper bags. Just suggest looking for an alternative to the polystyrene for the sauce. The fish batter was ‘perfect’ for my tastebuds and the chips were great too. Portion sizes are good. I’ll go back.

Staff seem to be a bit better than they used to be,good size potions if you eat alot

Very good fish and chips, happy to cater for dietary requirements with gluten free options. Staff have been friendly every time I've been in. Mini fish and chips is actually a manageable portion size which is nice to see.

Lovely fish but consistently soggy, uncooked chips EVERY time we go. Going to cook our own chips in future.

OMG they are great. The portions are huge. I had the 3 piece chicken and chips. I got to chose which pieces I wanted and not only were they massive they were juicy tasty and full of flavour. Highly recommended 👌 KFC who !!!

Great fish and chips including Gluten Free batter. In my view the best in Dursley. Good service and telephone ordering ensures minimum waiting time. Fish portion is generous . Parking squally available nearby.

Great food, fast & organised service.

A long wait in the queue. Staff pleasant but we appeared to have a new one who messed our order up a bit which was made right and sorted but the main part sat on the side whilst it was being sorted. This meant by the time we got it back it needed microwaving as it wasn't very hot. The chips were really greasy... Not sure if this was due to the wait? Felt a bit sorry for the new lad as he was trying but that didn't help us in the end. The other staff tried to help and were busy and friendly. Maybe we just got a bad night? Positives were meal deals we're good value and the do coley which is a great fish.

I've picked up a take-away from here twice in the last few months. I chose it because they have a GREAT menu for veggies, including pea fritters AND battered halloumi and do large haddock for OH. First time the food and service was excellent. Only compaint then was that the chips were a bit soft and soggy. Second visit wasn't so good. There was a HUGE long queue, about 20 people in front, that's always a good sign and not their fault of course. While in the queue we were all accosted and bothered by a very drunk or worse local man who was quite intimidating. As a lone female I felt very threatened. No-one seem bothered even though they could see what was going on. Again not their fault but there was no attempt by anyone anywhere to diffuse or assist. When I finally reached the top of the queue of course half my order was special order to be cooked fresh which meant a v long wait after a very very long wait. There needs to be a system where you can pre-order specials before you get to the till to save an even longer wait. No instructions or assistance. The meal the second time was v greasy, the chips were soggy and it wasn't a patch on the quality of the first visit. I would def give them another chance, bc first time was great. But disappointed in whole experience of second visit.

The Great British Takeaway, is a fantastic fish and chip shop. My children agree that it is the best fish and chip shop that they have ever had. The staff work incredibly hard and they are very welcoming and very friendly. I would highly recommend them.

Not all meals are good, best to order early.

Well to say that I traveled a round trip of sixteen miles to try this Fish and Chip shop I must say I was somewhat disappointed. I could not fault the food it really was good and way above average, having said that I had ordered 2 x Cod and chips regular which is what I paid for, only to find having driven back home that all I had was 1 x Cod and chips. To say I was very disappointed is something of an understatement in that as pensioners we were hoping this was going to be a nice treat on a Saturday evening. So not only am I out of pocket but only had half the food we were expecting. My recommendation is you must try harder, albeit your product is good.

Excellent fish and chips, as always

We placed a large order and requested wrapped in newspaper. Staff were lovely and helpful. Fish and chips were great and enjoyed by all. And had a gluten free fish and chips which was just great to have that as an option. Great local chippy and would highly recommend.

Based on previous reviews decided to give this chippy another chance as previous visits had been disappointing. The staff are very friendly - a request for lightly battered fish was not a problem and was delivered in just over 5 minutes. The fish was excellent and the portions were generous. The batter was tasty but not crisp and the chips were a little soft. A decent chippy and definarely the best in the Dursley area.

The service of the staff , the food is fantastic

Great for a bag of good quality traditional British chips on the go. Lovely and hot, and a small size bag here is like large would be elsewhere.

Top chip shop here! They even have fresh chicken delivered every morning by the local butcher to do there southern fried chicken what is really tasty! The flame grilled beer burgers are awesome too! The staff always have a smile & make you feel very welcome. There is now a gluten free menu now. The click & collect is the way to go to avoid the queues as they do get very busy. I would highly recommend this chip shop 👍🏻

Food was great, ruined by the styrofoam they were packaged in. Results in sweaty chips and a damp burger bun. Haven’t been to a chippy that used styrofoam in years, join the 21st century and do a cardboard box or nothing at all.

Have NEVER had a bad chippy tea from here - the fish flakes in lovely crispy batter (tried both cod and haddock and both are delicious!), the chips are consistently fab and the staff there are always friendly. Always hygienic and clean and considering the current situation (COVID19) everything has been managed extremely well. Would definitely recommend as a takeaway go-to!

Easy to order on line and no collection queue. Those just turning up had a distanced queue outside. Fish was good and a large portion both for regular and large size. Chips were disappointing . Prices depends on what you are used to. We found them about the same price as our local chip shops in the South/South East. Discussion on the stars. My wife thought 3 , i thought 4 we agreed to be generous.

Lovely battered fish but chips bit old and chewy, would not recommend going to early in the evening will leave it bit later next time to get fresh cooked chips, very friendly staff and good size portions, and good value for price.

This is a great fish and chip shop, food is always piping hot and fresh. Great selection on the menu. Staff are always polite and friendly. Large cod is massive! My son adores it. I love the paper bags they serve the food in too! Perfect. Also not stingy with salt and vinegar.

Always good food, staff willing to chat and have a laugh when able, very busy at times but good sign that food is good.

Vegetarians be warned: they cook the chips in the same fat as the fish, so nothing here is vegetarian, which is pretty incredible in 2019 when every food outlet in the country has at least one veggie offering. Seems like this place is stuck in the dark ages.

The que was absolutely ridiculous but great food

Like the name says. This is a perfect chippy with the added extras expected of burgers which are cooked to order. Good quality fish that has never disappointed. Worth the wait T busy times as its so popular!

The best local fish and chips for Cam & Dursley. Most evenings there is a que which is a good sign of how popular there products have become.

Great fish and chips on offer here so 5 out of 5 for that. The only downfall was, what I believe was the owner complaining about the staff being late when the place opened its doors. Not something you should discuss with the public and something that you should address with the staff members in question. Would have been a 100% positive experience if it wasn't for this. Good pricing here along with clean and good food throughout. I would suggest also that if someone orders a veggie burger, not to cover it in mayo without enquiring if this is wanted. Just a person bugbear of mine, but other than that, I would recommend eating from this eatery. Loads os choice also.

The service we had last night was poor. The girl serving us was more interested in starting at my partner than actually concentrating on what she was serving us and we ended up with cold undercooked chips that were still hard in the middle. My partner ordered beans, which they microwave that were cold and not been heated up properly. We ended up having to cook food as we could not eat the food we had bought from here.
