Very friendly and welcoming staff and the most delicious lemon drizzle cake.

The Lavender Bakehouse is a lovely place to meet friends and while away an afternoon. Food is good and freshly made (especially the cakes) but a bit on the pricey side for what you get.

Smashing cafe,great food and helpful staff.we will definitely return.It does get very busy and lots of tables booked but staff went out of their way to accommodate us.

My absolute favourite place that I can always depend on having a nice time at. The food is homemade and delicious, and the cakes are lovely too. A real hidden gem and worth the visit! As they have cute shop upstairs and a homely atmosphere

Wow, delicious lunch of toasted sandwiches and salad enjoyed by our family of 5. We have also loved the cream teas here last week. Lovely friendly welcoming atmosphere …. Even of our dog after a walk. Superb!

A beautiful festive afternoon tea, would recommend.

My family and I came this morning hoping to have a nice breakfast together. None of the food was very warm, but the dish my mum ordered included poached eggs, and when they came stone cold she asked for them to be heated up. She also pointed out that her tomatoes were completely raw and was told that they were not supposed to be cooked, despite the menu literally saying ‘roasted vine tomatoes’. We were very disappointed by the service we received after that; the member of staff who brought the plate back over threw it down in front of my mum and walked off without saying anything. I don’t usually write reviews, but as somebody who has worked in customer service I was appalled by this. It was not only immature, but also made my mum feel really uncomfortable for making a very reasonable and presumably quite common request. When we went to pay at the counter, my mum asked for this staff member’s name as she was planning on complaining to the manager about her service. The two members of staff on the till were both very unfriendly towards us. They told us she was ‘out the back’, then backtracked and said they didn’t know who it was, before telling us her name. My mum chose not to complain in the end, however I’ve decided to leave a review because it upset me to see my mum upset when she was excited to treat us to a nice breakfast out, and I don’t feel customers paying a lot of money for your food should be made to feel like this just for making a simple request. An unpleasant experience overall.

Very disappointed. Table booked for a group birthday celebration most of the menu had run out, so reduced to whatever was left.No baguettes, no soup, 3 croissants over microwaved, soggy sough dough sausage sandwich. Altogether very poor offerings. This is unusual but feel this was not good enough for full price charged.I didn't feel I could complain as it wasn't paid for by me and the staff were under pressure .

Fantastic place, eaten in a few times with my nan, often get a take out. Always busy which is great to see. Wide range of things to eat always hard to decide which cake to choose. Staff are friendly and polite even when busy serving they always try to show they have noticed you and not get ignored like a few places.

I arrived here at 10:30, with a shocking hangover. Had eggs Benedict with salmon, extra sausages. The food was exceptional and the waitresses were attentive, pleasant and even asked if I was feeling better. I actually ended up spending 4 hours here having tea, cake and lunch throughout as it was such a lovely experience. Not a bad word to say about it. It does get busy at lunchtime! Keep it up. I’ll be back!

Oh what a lovely find. Went for breakfast before are drive back to Kent. We also was allowed to take our big furry dog into too. I had sausages, eggs on brown toast and it was the best 👌 👍. My husband had eggs benedict with salmon and said it was the best he has had . Also had tea for 2 again delicious. We felt the price was good. Also bought some cake to go and had a look in the gift shop upstairs and brought some cards and Christmas decorations. Would highly recommended a visit.

We came in for lunch and left a little under-whelmed. Two friends ordered sandwiches which were epic and they had no issues with. One friend has the Bakehouse Platter which he said was nice but just felt like a load of random things had been loaded onto a plate. I ordered the Chilli Platter. The amount of chilli on it was very small and there was absolutely no heat or spice. Also, although I don't believe it was advertised as a vegetarian chilli, there seemed to be no meat in it. That was a shame because the staff were incredibly friendly and it's a lovely venue, Oh, but I do challenge the sense of allowing someone to let their baby stand on a surface used for serving food.

Generally a good spot. However things conspired for it to be a really poor experience today. I double checked the wait staff had the correct order, but the one dish still came out wrong - and the replacement had clearly been nuked beyond hell in the microwave. Another customer had a dog which kept barking - be dog friendly, but also ask customers to sit outside if it needs to bark. Food is getting a little lazier over time, and waiting 15 minutes for drinks to turn up is aggravating. Simply, I reckon the place is resting on its laurels

Disappointing food even though It’s a good location and friendly place My shashuka was like a bland flavourless vegetable stew with a limp poached egg on top.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Good selection of food unless you're a vegan! Food was very nice but not cheap.

Great cafe and great food - when it's available! We rocked up at lunchtime and was told the chef was on his/her lunch break so the menu choice was somewhat limited. That said my New York Salt Beef sandwich was pretty lush so I'd still go back - hopefully when the chef isn't on a lunch break 😂 The pic is the view from the car park across the road.

I recently visited the Cafe here with my family and when I asked if there was a disabled toilet was told no,I had to walk up a very steep flight of stairs and when I got to the top I couldn't breathe for quite a while !! I thought it was law in England to have disabled toilets? The food was excellent though the coffee was not great Great Grandma Harvey

Went there on a recommendation from somewhere else we visited close by. Parking was good and managed to get a space even though it was lunchtime. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. Well priced for the portion sizes with lots of choice. The only tiny niggle (which isnt awful) was that the staff didnt have much direction and we had to go to the counter to see what was happening with regards to ordering and then reordering dessert. Not the end of the world (im not lazy so just got up) so it didn't bother me but i think it would bother others. I would still highly recommend this place to others.

OK to decent coffee shop, I didn't try the coffee, I came to have full English breakfast. There are not many parking spaces, so arrive early, you may get blocked in but the staff are aware of this. The breakfast was OK, it was above greasy spoon cafe quality but there was no baked beans, or black pudding. It was OK, the sourdough bread was nice though. The pancakes were good, as was the milkshake. On the first floor there is a shop selling clothes, kids books, toys crafts etc.

I needed somewhere to base myself between work appointments so visited this cafe this morning. It is a lovely friendly place, staff are welcoming and the tea and coffee is great… as for the cherry and almond cake- what can I say? I took some home with me… too delicious!

I’ve called here twice now when out on the motorbike. The cakes are fantastic and you get a good portion and a good latte and I’ve has a good pot of tea there too.

Arrived without booking but they managed to squeeze the 6 of us in. Lovely food on offer. A packed place which says a lot

Fell upon Lavender Bakehouse and am so pleased we did! Excellent and scrummy menu selection whatever the time of day served by lovely friendly staff. Had to return to the area a second time a few days later and highlight of the trip was a return to Lavender Bakehouse. Thoroughly recommend a stop if you're passing.

Lovely place for afternoon tea with lots of cakes and treats to try. The portion sizes for the sandwiches per person was small but due to the amount of scones and sweet treats we weren't able to finish the whole tower. Some of the cakes with jam felt too sweet for my liking but tasty nonetheless. I especially enjoyed the raspberry tartlet and both sweet and savory scones. Cute crockery and very traditional tea party feel. The group loved it and especially enjoyed the aesthetics of the cafe.

I have been coming here for years. Still to this day the best cafe I have ever been too. All fresh and local produce. Great breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Very nice café and polite friendly staff.

We stopped here by chance and it was 10 minutes before closure time. Staff were really friendly and helpful and although they could not get us a seat as they were closing, they offered us to grab something for takeaway. The cake slices were so delicious and moist, you could tell that they were home made. We'll definitely be back for a proper visit. Highly recommend.

Sat outside , service slower than usual , eventually ordered food and drinks , this place never fails on quality .. but today something went very wrong ! I ordered a soup and a sandwich .. soup as good as usual , sandwich also very nice but !! The menu says sandwiches are served with salad and from experience always very good … today half a tomato and a leaf of flat leaf parsley .. I found it very amusing , after asking “ what happened to the salad “ the young lady bought out a little plate of the usual salad … picture to follow .

We arrived with friends for breakfast. We were seated quickly and menus brought to us. Drinks arrived quick. Tea for me and hot chocolate for my partner. My partner had a full English and I had Eggs Benedict. Beautiful food good quality local produce cooked and served to a high standard. Will be back and will defiantly try some cake next time. Lovely surroundings and shop. Helpful happy staff.

Lovely cafe - we visited after a nice walk. Varied menu, tasty food and friendly staff. It was a busy place, clearly very popular. We had jacket potatoes with coronation chicken, one of the special toasted sourdough with pesto and roasted veg (which was huge) and a tart with goats cheese and salads (also quite big!) Didn't try the coffee, we just had cold drinks. The afternoon tea looked good. as did all the cakes on the counter.

The food here is amazing. Not only does it look fantastic it tastes it too. Good size portions. This bakehouse has something for everyone; traditional, more modern and vegan. I would highly recommend visiting this Tearoom. Whilst we were on holiday in Chalford we visited three times as we were local.

Walking along the nearby trail on a cold rainy day, this place popped up like an oasis with tea and cakes in a beautiful setting. We had our wet muddy dog with us, and were graciously invited to come sit inside. As we approached, the clouds parted and the sun came out, so we opted to sit outside. We enjoyed a lunch of assorted deli salads and sandwiches. I was too full to try the cakes but everyone around us seemed very happy with theirs, especially something chocolate that everyone was ordering. I’m not sure if you can book in but do come early as this place seems rather popular especially on weekends.

We have booked a table for lunch. They allow dogs inside the cafe. The staff was very kind and friendly. The food was nice but personally I think the pasta in the salad was redundant as the sourdough bread was big enough for carb.

After a long time wanting to visit, we finally managed to get a parking space and a table. Most of the tables were reserved but the friendly staff quickly organised one for us. Quick with presenting us with our food. Which was very nice. Will visit again.

Passed by last weekend with a respectable-looking and clean (!) small group of walkers. While still gathering in the car park, a lady came out and told us they were fully booked and not to bother to come in. With a sneer. We wound have been happy with a takeaway tea but don’t worry, we won’t be coming back

wow! we had such a great meal here. My kids had the full english breakfast on top of a baked potato and being such fussy eaters, they never finish anything but devoured this. I had such a tasty sourdough toasted sandwich with a chilli jam which was just delicious. Would definitely go back!

Never been before, but will definitely be back. 10 out of 10 for catering for all culinary wants and needs.

The cafe is in an out the way location yet on main road. There were more parking spaces than I expected and the cafe was slightly bigger than I anticipated. Extensive menu and the cakes (particularly the afternoon tea) looked fantastic. The chocolate sponge we had was good. Coffee was ok. What was really odd was the service; it wasn’t particularly warm or friendly. I have a young daughter who’s really well behaved in cafes and restaurants and a member of staff looked visibly annoyed that I had a child with me and acted like she was in the way every time she walked past, it was very odd. The parking signs were aggressively off putting; I understand that you wouldn’t want people to leave their car there whilst they go for a walk before or after their cafe trip (and therefore stop another customer parking) but just explain it nicely ? The red signs strict signs are so unnecessary. It feels like this was once a hidden gem which was become too big. The gift shop upstairs was a nice surprise.

This is an ideal stop off in Chalford close to the Stroud Water canal tow path from Stroud up to Sapperton Tunnel . Excellent coffee, snacks or lunch. Coffee beans also on sale.

I visited here with my sister & dogs for breakfast, while staying in the area. The young girl who served us was very friendly. The food was lovely, good sized portions, flavoursome, excellent poached eggs & the sauce coming separately was a nice touch. The hot drinks were great, enjoyed everything. The dogs were welcome to, makes a change for city dogs !! The place is authentic & all the arty touches around the building are beautiful, even the toilet !! I could of sat in the Bakehouse all day !! We also purchased 2 cakes to come away with, which were divine, moist and a good portion sizes too. A vast assortment of cakes to choose from. I loved this place.

A very nice place to eat in terms of very good food. However, the staff are generally bad mannered and lacking good customer service skills. Not customer-centric and sadly just focussed on getting the job done. This was the third time we have visited over...

Been a Facebook followers for a while but today was first visit. Great place, lovely selection of food, and easy on the pocket. Don't forget to check out the first floor retail area. I'll be back.

We didn't realise we'd need to book a table here, it was full. The girls working there were friendly, but didn't get 'the feels'. We sat outside, where there were some blankets provided, which I thought was a nice touch. Cake and coffee were OK - nothing to write home about, but they were reasonably priced.

I ordered takeaway for 4 - asked for 4 assorted cakes, 2 coffees and a sandwich. My sandwich was lovely and the cakes were brilliant! I heard no complaints about the coffees. The service is really friendly and it's a lovely coffee shop/restaurant, I'd go back again and really recommend it.

Really tasty food and great atmosphere. Friendly staff. In terms of feedback a) the WIFI password is ridiculous and not customer friendly, please just make it easy to type in on a phone! and b) please please let's get away from sachets of condiments. There is no excuse these days, we have a single use crisis packaging and plastic waste disaster on our hands. Surely a family sized squeezy bottle of ketchup and one of Brown sauce on each table and mustard/mayo bottles on request. finally c) would be better to not keep butter in the fridge right up to serving it as its difficult to spread.

This cafe is a really relaxing, friendly place to sit. We popped in on our way along the canal tow path with our little dog for a coffee and found the atmosphere to be warm and inviting. Being so close to Stroud, we thought there might be more options for vegans - if there were we would definitely be back!

Strange attitude to service leaving an unforgettably disappointing 60th birthday celebration for my wife…whose only request on her birthday was to go to this place for afternoon tea. Booked by email 2 days before (which was the only way of booking online). Phoned beforehand to...

Fantastic food, fantastic service, the staff were so friendly and helpful! The establishment is so cute, warm and welcoming! Highly recommend popping in for breakfast or lunch and getting one of their yummy sourdough toasted sandwiches and a hot chocolate from these hard working ladies. Thanks for having our troup of crazy kids!
