Fantastic "proper" pub, which does good food but the focus is firmly on great beer, often with 8 real ales on and a number of keg too. If you like beer, this is a destination pub. Keep up the good work guys, and never forget to have a selection of hoppy pales on too 😄

Very cute pub with lovely sitting areas on the terrace. Heaters are also there to help warm you up. The service is great and the staff members are very attentive. Prices are affordable as well. There is a free parking area just next to the pub which is a plus. I'll be back!

Dropped in here after a hearty hike through the woods and around the golf course with the dog. Ordered pigs in blankets with cranberry and brie on granary - it did not disappoint, decent size and all for £12, option to upgrade to fries for an additional £2. Will definitely be coming here again. Only downside was they only sever food until 3 pm, I was hoping to pay a visit one evening to eat with friends.

This place is a simple country pub and we were so pleasantly surprised by how great the food was! I had ham, egg and chips and all of it was cooked to perfection and the ham with really tender. The burgers were juicy and couldn't fault them. Finally the chicken and stuffing sandwich was lightly toasted and the fillings were delicious. The service was also very quick. Overall couldn't fault it! We will absolutely be back when we come to visit the area soon.

Poor burger, sort of patty you'd expect at a third of the price from a fish and chips shop. Bun was soggy and coleslaw was such a tiny portion it probably wasn't worth serving. Only highlight were the chips, but that's the easy part

19/10/2024:- The menu has altered and our small plates of croquettes and spicy chicken wings, a soup and fries were very nice and other people's lunches looked good too. Along with a beer each we paid a very reasonable £30. Two young barstaff were great and very good at their jobs 🌟

Wonderful place. Visited mid-week lunchtime. We had a pleasant meal at reasonable price. The menu was a bit limited but the meal was served quickly. The choice of beers was very good and it was very fairly priced at £4.20 and £4.40 per pint. The pub was quite busy with people eating at one end and people drinking at the other end. All very respectable and quiet. No music or TV.

Our beers were very good. Mine cost £4.40 and my husband's cost £4.20 so we can't explain a previous review which said they were very expensive. At a pub we visited in south Gloucestershire a few days earlier one of the same beers was £6.00 a pint. I had a pulled lamb doorstep sandwich with fries and a small salad. It was very filling and very tasty.. My husband had the ploughman's which seemed to please him. The service was very good and friendly.

Everything else was great but as we walked away after lunch we wondered why it cost so much. We had 2 sandwiches at 12pound each and 2 pints lager and it cost 39 pound plus. That means the pints were 7 1/2pounds each which seems well over the odds. Any explanation welcomed. We are visitors by the way.

Went there on a last minute whim for Sunday Roast as most other places were booked up. Turned out to be one of the best Sunday Lunches I've had that I can remember. I don't usually order a Sunday roast out as I always think mine is nicer, but this one blew me away! The beef was melt in the mouth, the roast spuds crispy, and the gravey thick. The Sunday menu consisted of 4 roasts (one vegan/veggie) or scampi and chips. Hence why I chose the roast, and I'm so glad I did. £16 each or £9.50 for a small/kids portion. We'll, be back!!

Whilst it's not much to look at from the outside within is an absolute gem. The Old Spot is a fantastic specimen of a classic English country pub and clearly an important part of the local community with lots of regular events going on. We went for Sunday lunch and had a great meal. The food was excellent with good portions & reasonably priced. Staff were friendly & helpful even though it was busy. Whilst we didn't use it there's a lovely looking beer garden out the back which I'd gladly come back & enjoy in future.

A good old town centre pub, don't be misled by the exterior, it's has a neat old-style interior. Not a large array of beers on tap but Otter Brewery at least so I was happy. A good range of dishes available without being over complicated. The fish pie was a success, the chunky chips were deemed "excellent" and the two starters were very good although the bhajis were overcooked and slightly dry. The only blot on the horizon was the soup which though thick and hot was infused with far too much wild garlic. The puds (Sticky toffee and crème brulée) were also of a high standard, so much so that 3 on the table of 5 next to us changed their orders! So 4/5 for food (the soup) and 4/5 for service because it took 45 minutes for the mains to arrive. Now while I appreciate the pub was well attended and this could cause a queue we were not once kept informed as to how long the food might be and therefore became more agitated as the time passed by. In the end I was forced to enquire when the meal was due. Apart from that the staff were friendly and helpful. With coffees it was £100 for the 4 of us. Parking seemed plentiful across from the PH and a nice walk up to and around the golf course with views across to the Severn. Sorry no photos 🙈

We were on holiday near Dursley and The Old Spot had been recommended to us. So, having also read these reviews we wanted to give it a try. I emailed to ask if they allowed dogs, rang 3 times to ask if they were open Monday lunchtimes but hot no reply at all. So, if they can't be bothered, neither can we - there are plenty of good alternatives in the area.

The best pub in the area, easily. Hasn't succumbed to becoming a restaurant that calls itself a pub as, unfortunately, a lot have. The main theme is beer and whatever the wife is drinking. They do food at lunchtime which is good however, its remains good simple pub food and they haven't gone down the road of providing fancy food. Good on them. Ambience is great, service is great, people are friendly, and dogs more than welcome as are muddy walkers. They even have vegan friendly beer if you're that way inclined...

Haven’t eaten here for a while although we drink here regularly so thought we would swing by for a Wedding Anniversary lunch. We weren’t looking for anything too grand but I struck lucky as my favourite roast chicken with stuffing baguette was on the specials. Absolutely lovely with some of the best fries ever and a top dipping sauce (gravy lol). Loved it. My wife had a sandwich too and we shared a lovely treacle tart with ice cream. Great service and my wife is a little fussy so never orders straight from the menu! So quite a simple lunch for us but very well executed and the pub has a lovely, friendly atmosphere topped off with golden Autumn sunlight beaming in and reflecting off the ale pump brass. All made for a lovely afternoon.

Came for a family lunch (10 of us & 2 dogs) unfortunately a bit chilly for those at the end by the door to the beer garden, but we understand its a small pub. Lovely tasty food, but sadly lacking in portion size. The mediterranean bowl (2 of us avoiding gluten) was more like a starter and at £13 not value for money, similar with the pork steak. This was comparing them to the plate fulls that were had with the burgers and fish and chips for £1 & £2 more. The extra chips for £3.50 were a sad small portion too. We did mention it to staff and were brought some extra steamed veg, but it didn't really make up for lack of spicy vegetables in the bowl. Such a shame, as it tasted good. We get together several times a year for lunch and are always looking for good places and this is a bonus as being a short walk away from my fathers house. We may give it a go again and stick to fish and burgers next time, but slightly bigger portions wouldn't go amiss.

It’s a shame because this used to be one of the best pubs in the area for Sunday lunch but we’ve just had one of the worst eating out experiences ever. The service was very poor; the waitress had no idea what draught beers were available and one of our starters only arrived once prompted. The main arrived well over an hour from ordering and we had watched, in increasing disbelief and anger, while everybody else, all of whom had arrived and ordered well after us, received their food before us. When finally our mains did arrive my beef was grisely and the parsnip raw. At least the dog will be happy with the meat. Shant go again.

Room was overheated, unable to cool and directly above a large function room with Xmas party underneath otherwise was a very nice room. Staff very helpful and one even went out of way to drop me at train station when no local taxi or uber could be sourced on a Sunday morning. Semi Rural location and lack of established taxis or uber mean forward planning and booking or travel is essential. Local drivers work until early hours on Sundays leaving no bookable options. Overall a pleasant stay and would return again to this lovely idyllic Mill hotel.
