A marvellous and well-established local pub with all the good things: skittle alley, nooks and crannies on multiple levels, proper beer garden garden with grass and trees, decent beers, friendly service, good food, huge fireplace, and sports on the TVs when needed. Plus it's at the foot of the remarkable Uphill reserve Its popularity means parking can be a challenge but it's absolutely worth the 10-minute drive from Weston.

While in Weston for a week with family and dogs, we were on the look out for dog friendly places to eat locally. We have 3 Rommie rescues (between 2 families) and 2 of them are still recovering from awful experiences in Romania, so when we book places, we hope to get seating that allows us to give them security where they feel safe and will therefore be less reactive to passers by or other dogs. Well when we arrived having asked for a table in a corner, we were blown away by the way the staff had reserved a really great table, away from the hustle and bustle of the bar, allowing our pooches to have a really chilled time. Service was friendly, swift, efficient and on point. We had a vegan in the party and the menu catered for them very well too. The food arrived very quickly, piping hot, was beautifully cooked and tasted lovely. Overall, this was an absolute gem of a find. If we're in the area again, we will definitely revisit this wonderful pub.

We stayed at the Marina campsite over the weekend and called in here early evening Saturday for our meal. Lovely bar staff and great choice of real ales and ciders. Menu choices good BUT £17 for lasagne felt a bit over priced. However, it was LARGE but didn't blow me away. OH had veggie lasagne and he said it was a bit bland and not worth £17. Left feeling a bit disappointed and wish we'd had something else. We're back in Uphill over the New Year period so may try again?

Popped in unplanned after a dog walk and half-expected the ‘leftovers’ at the end of the lunch service as it was after 3pm. But we both had a really good Sunday lunch of 2 meats (from beef, pork, turkey) …..the roast beef was cooked rare and REALLY excellent. And perfectly crispy pork crackling! Served with an extra gravy boat for bonus points! We will definitely be back. Thank you.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch. So nice to have turkey as I don’t eat 4 legged animals! It’s dog friendly too. The only minor criticisms is the waitress didn’t know what meats were available for Sunday roast but I think she was new, and some of the roast potatoes were hard in the middle (not all, and a table opposite us made the same comment). Otherwise it was lovely. Pleasant staff, lots of lovely veg and turkey cooked beautifully. Would definitely recommend.

Gotta say so disappointed with our food. Advertised as topped chips with bbq sauce bacon and cheese and spring onions Food arrive absolutely no sign of bacon or bbq sauce. Had to ask for the bbq sauce to then notice the ham. Said it was advertised as bacon and she said must have ran out. Gutted. Came here purposely for the food we had. Should have been informed before hand the food was not gonna be as ordered. Used to come here just for these. But this has now put me off from coming and ordering these again.

Today, Easter Sunday, we visited The Ship Inn at Weston Super Mare, for mums Birthday. We booked a table in advance, because we didn’t want to be disappointed. We entered and were quickly seated by Abbie, who came across as enthusiastic and friendly, the service was great, but not intrusive. A drinks order was taken and received, then shortly after our order for the meals. We all chose the Sunday roast, which turned out to be a very good decision. There was a good choice of beef, pork, gammon ham, turkey or lamb shank, roast potatoes, boiled and mash, green beans, peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. The desert chosen today was sticky toffee pudding and custard. It just melted in your mouth, one of the best I’ve had. All in all a great meal in a nice atmosphere, served by lovely staff. 10/10. We will definitely return.

Spring may be teasing us that it’s on its way, but an independently owned pub with as much going for it as The Ship Inn in Uphill will always have its place in the community 🍻🍽️🔥 We had: 🩶 Mac n Cheese Bites 🩶 Chicken in a cream and chorizo sauce 🩶 Fish & Chips 🩶 Burger & Chips 🩶 Lasagne 🩶 Kids Nuggets, Beans & Potato Faces 🩶 Lemon Meringue Pie 🩶 Chocolate Fudge Cake Aka, a feast for the five of us! The chips were those slightly curved ones (hard to explain, zoom in!) that we as a family have a thing for, so they were an immediate hit. It can be a worry when you see a big menu but each of us enjoyed what we ordered - nobody had a dud! It was good honest pub grub done well, comfort food to get rid of our never ending colds 🤧 Prices are reasonable (e.g. Cod & Chips £14.95, kids meals from £5.25 for a main) but if you’re keen for an offer, there’s a and a brilliant value mid week lunch deal. It runs Monday to Friday from 12pm to 2.30pm with a range of dishes for £8, including my favourite, scampi 😋 They also have seasonal specials (the spring menu featuring treats such as ox cheeks with creamy leek mash) and this week they’re taking part in British Pie week with a different flavour on offer each day 🥧 Drinks wise it’s a traditional venue with all the usuals, but I was also impressed with the alcohol free selection. Perhaps something to do with the several team members going sober in Feb, raising over £500 for Ovarian Cancer in the process? 🙌🏻 The Old Mout 0% Berries and Cherries I had was very refreshing! There’s a small car park, a beer garden, dogs are welcome, you’ll also find a pool table, darts and skittles plus live music and quizzes too. A true all-rounder! (Review copied from Instagram)

Booked for sunday roast, upon arriving the car park is very small and tight as you drive through an arch way. The service was good and staff were friendly. However, the waitress took our order (beef isn’t cooked well done, cooked rare!) that’s a huge disappointment, turkey had a small joint in it (choking hazard) and pork was quite fatty. Vegetables were quite hard and lacked salt or any seasonings. Roast potatoes were nice and homemade. The stuffing was a bit spicy but tasted nice. The room upstairs feels very cold and I don’t think dogs should be where people dine as it’s unhygienic. The puddings were the best bit of food received! Might come back but definitely won’t be our 1st choice.

I love the Ship Inn for its welcoming atmosphere (kids and dogs friendly, luckily for me and my anarcharchic lot), which is hard to come by when me a my noisy rabble attempt public civilisation 😬. Service was very friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble, even when I discovered a flooding bathroom. Assuming it was one of mine who hadn't realised the taps weren't automatic, I summoned help to sort the flood. I felt no judgement; rare act of kindness!! Mixed thoughts on this pub. The only thing that kept it from 1 star was the Veg that came with the Sunday Roast, it was lovely. Pork was also good but beef was obviously cheap rubbish, tough, tasteless, inedible. The roast potatoes seemed like they'd been reheated from the night before. Mash was grey and gluey probably instant. The menu is laid out in a way that you read right to left (see menu picture, what do you think?) I was made out to be some kind of idiot!........it meaning I ordered 'pie of the day' only for it to be a children's meal.... either way the pie was really poor. 4 chunks of tough chicken in bisto in a dish with a frozen 'puff up in the oven' type chuck on the top topping. Again mash was grey, gluey and inedible like 70's smash. The real ale was nice and the pub itself has a good atmosphere. Waiting/bar staff are pretty efficient but let down by the food quality and chefing skills. Overall a waste of money I won't be going again. On the whole the pub is not suitable for disabled visitors, the toilets are either a long walk around or up and down stairs. Very disappointing Sunday outing.

The Ship is a pub literally at the heart of a village. It has a very small carpark hidden behind the building, with a very tight access down the side. Behind that it an extensive beer garden, and an outside bar to serve you. There's a small amount of parking on the road outside; access through the village is made difficult due to narrow roads and parked vehicles. We were there for a gathering after a funeral, and the pub laid on a rather pleasant range of sandwiches / snacks. It has a good atmosphere, and is the sort of place that attracts you back once you've been a few times.

I would like to make you aware of the terrible treatment I received from this property. My plane landed in the early hours of October 21st. I immediately rang them to inform them of my arrival time. A woman answered (the proprietor) and was absolutely horrible and rude towards me. She angrily told me that they tried to call me 5 times. I was on a plane when they were trying to call me. She basically told me “I’m in bed now so tough luck”. I thought this was a disgusting way to treat me and as a result, my only option was to sleep in my car. When I told her that I expected a full refund, she told me that I am entitled to nothing as I did not give 48 hours notice (how ridiculous when I did want to stay there). She could not be bothered about the fact that it meant I had nowhere to sleep. Utterly vile human and appalling customer service!!!

I visited during the day and was shocked how many dogs of all sizes were allowed in (under tables/screeching/barking/fighting), which is so unhygienic in an establishment where food is being served. What was particularly worrying was the drinking water dispenser, which is free but also doubles as a dog water dispenser where dog bowls used are right next to the human glasses. I emailed and complained to the Manager about their general dog policy and how it affects hygiene standards and possibly people, who are allergic to dogs but after weeks of waiting, still had no reply.
