Terrible service ...... food disgusting... Will not be returning any time soon ....... Definitely a public house to stay clear of. The website is misleading would not recommend it as a venue for youre function. Very disappointed as my daughters wedding reception was held here ..... In a word TERRIBLE

Pulled in for a bite to eat they do food but it is cooked and delivered by a sister pub . It was nice food but served in foil boxes and side plates. Friendly Staff and a few locals. Sad it wasn't a popular pub not sure why not location is great and loads of parking indoor and outdoor tables !!

We Went to the new “sports bar”to play pool and have a game of darts….. you’d expect them to have new Dartboards as it’s just reopened after a refurb and level(ish) pool tables etc but nope! Old battered dartboard, pool table was one sided, beer was flat….also 2 others in the pub. So very empty for a Saturday afternoon, maybe everyone else had the same experience! Can’t see it being open long!

Only popped in for a pint, lovely Country pub, Thatchers on tap and loads of Pool tables for a quick few games.

Went there for a carvery, nothing actually wrong with it but not at all what I expected from the outside, don't think I'd go again.

We choose to have our annual family Christmas dinner at the carpenters tavern due to the room at the back of the pub being big enough to fit us all in, this room was booked at least 2 months prior to our meal this evening! When we arrived we were advised that they doubled booked the room and now we have to sit in a space that wasnt suitable and have to split the group into two!! I have called a number of times to discuss the booking to make sure all was still ok as being a large booking I want to make sure everything was as I asked for I.E having the large room as there were 22 of us.... and not once was I advised that we were no longer in the big room and would be now split!. We were not offered any apologies and they passed the blame to a lady that wasnt ever there.!!. Not the Christmas family meal we had been looking forward to, if we knew we couldn't all sit together as planned we would never have booked the tavern and choose somewhere different. Very disappointed

Come on people this is what you need. it's good it's comfortable, it's food you know that you want.

Went for a Sunday roast, food was fresh and hot, staff very helpful

The lady behind the bar yolga was very friendly and welcoming on my first visit, made me feel welcome I'll definitely be coming back. Very pleasant experience definitely worthy of a tip 🙏

although the food was nice there wasnt much of it, you got to buy things individuals, ie the steak only came with chips and 3 tomatoes, said etc we had to purchase sepertley which then makes it expensive, and the sald wasnt great, they use fancy leaf stuff has 2 slices of cucumber and about 4 tiny cubes of parers no onion it was very poorfor an extra £3.oo

Wish I’d taken a photo of the rump steak and triple cooked chips! The laminated canteen-style menu set my expectations very low, and did little to justify the high prices, but we were very pleasantly surprised. Perfectly cooked quality steak and proper onion rings. £3 for blue cheese sauce (the menu just says “blue cheese”) is a bit steep but overall we were very satisfied. Very friendly staff too!

Food was good and the service was good we'll go again

Went to a function held in the garden, the venue was clean, tidy and friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced and there was ample parking spaces. Nice variety of food and snacks so worth a stop off if passing by.

Friendly bar staff, just stopped for light lunch which we could get at gone 2. Just had jacket potatoes so can’t comment on food other than that but they were good. Plenty of parking and clean toilets.

Passing it often pre-pandemic, I have often thought of visiting this establishment - either it wasn’t open at the time, or on other times, I didn't have time to stop. Today both conditions were conducive and I stopped for a late lunch beer and a bite. It's an old building, much used and looks it and when I entered, was the sole patron. It was slowly to fill up though, as the afternoon progressed with outdoor workee types wanting to secure early and escape the constant all day drizzle. The car park, could do with attention from some of those outdoor types, with an over ordered supply of tarmacadam. Once inside, the young female staff were affable and attentive (being the only customer at the time, anything else would have been questionable) The beer, Butcombe Original, was, in this reviewers opinion, a little short of Cask Marque Accreditation, but worth investing in second pint however. And the Tuna Mayo Salad Murphy* which the two pints washed down, was well presented and prepared - well worth the money. Yes, worth another visit, if I can time it right. (*Sailor speak for potato)

Visited on Sunday afternoon for a birthday meal. Unfortunately they seem un prepared and we had to ask for everything like Cutlery, napkins, sauces, etc. Took the order wrong when asked for Gammon steak meal I got a boiled gammon roast which was not on the menu. Roast was poor and soggy (gravy should be on side not pre poured over the food.) The pub is also sadly run down and needs updating. Plenty of time to of got this sorted. Stick to the Dundry Inn which is same owner but superior in every way.

Awesome pub in an awesome location. Good beer and good cider. Really good sized inside eating area, really good sized garden, good service, and good food, especially for the price. The Sunday carvery especially is great. The landlord is really down to earth, values customers as well as regulars. It's near to a bunch of public footpaths, you could walk from here along to Maes knoll (40 mins), or along to Dundry village (20 mins), or down to Chew Magna (50 mins).

I took my son for the Steak Night and it was amazing. The service was really great, the food was excellent quality, good portions and a really good price. My son said it was the best pub he's every been to! Would 100% recommend.

It's a lovely place to go for a drink and food. The steak was great just as I asked for. Soft music in the back ground. And staff were very nice to. Lovely evening all round. Will call there again.

Meal was really nice had 2 x 18 oz mixed grills & a butterfly chicken burger & kids sausage meal all with drinks overall a bit pricey £72 but what food place isn't nowadays. Service was good and food was served in about 40 mins over all would return for more meals thanks for great visit

My and daughters and partner food was cold and no one came to ask how everything was. It also took a long time to come and we were all very hungry. So disappointed and won't be going back

Went with 3 friends for steak for first visit to this pub. Was made very welcome by staff. Efficient and excellent meal made even more enjoyable by the amazing January offer. Thank you.

Was a long wait but well worth it fantastic food

A little over priced for the quality of the food, but service was nice and it's a nice pub. Steak was a little over cooked, and the gourmet chips also a little over done. I wouldn't order the steak again but would perhaps visit for something else. Good beer on tap and the deserts are nice.

We Just had a great night at the carpenters, the staff were all very friendly, the steak was fantastic and as it was the last Wednesday of the month it was quiz night!

A group of 22 family members met at the pub last evening - we were treated to an excellent meal served by smiling,friendly staff. The steaks were of exceptional quality all grilled to the preference of each individual - better still they were half price!! Everyone of us will be recommending The Carpenters Tavern - best to book on advance - especially if you have a large party. Will be back!!!

Having now concentrated on serving quality meat, sourced locally, the Carpenters Tavern has hit the nail on the head. Other house specials are also well presented and tasty at the right prices. Staff are always really pleasant and helpful and attentive. Look out for special offers like half price meals or bargain starters.

Very quick service, food was OK for a Turkish restaurant the lamb wasn't lamb it was mutton but still very tasty. The waiting staff had missed out an item and the given rice instead of chips but otherwise all good. A note for improvement would be to judge the size of the party and the amount of food ordered and give them enough bread so that they don't need to constantly ask for more.

haven't eaten in here for a very long time ,I knew the new landlord from the dundry legion days.now its advertised as a steakhouse I thought I'll try it ,it never failed ,I had the fillet steak well done but not burnt just with a bit of juice in it !cooked to perfection, added the free sauce of your choice with chips and peas ,perfect, definitely be back and well worth the trip keep up the good work

32 People went for a birthday meal didn't know how good it might be but was told new management all orders took and a bit of a wait not too bad but they sorted all are meals together not one bad meal everybody enjoyed it I will definitely recommend it and will be going again

Went to recent cider fest there over Easter. At £2 a pint and £1 for half couldn't ask for more. Very busy with lots of kids with band and bouncy castle but soon as they finished and let castle down people soon drifted off, but had a really good time and a very nice pub and everyone were very friendly

Booked a table for 12 people and was greeted by friendly staff. Food of all different types were ordered and all came out at the same time . The food was good and there was 12 empty plates. All in all it was a nice ecperience with friendly staff and will definitely eat here again.

Lovely old pub and even on a cold dull winters Sunday the view is lovely. Following tradition we ordered two of the Sunday carvery, one meat and a vegetarian. We decided not to have the soup starter but after waiting along time for the vegetarian meal to arrive my partner decided to get their get their own meal and eat on their own. Finally my vegetarian meal arrived, unfortunately the goats cheese, beetroot filo pasty was cremated by the time it arrived but I was so hungry I cut off the burnt bits and did not make a complaint. After all the carvery was quite cheap and the staff where lovely. Three weeks later we decided to give the place another chance, we arrived to find a price increase, exactly the same vegetarian option and the quality of the Sunday carvery food had gone further down hill. Give this place a wide berth if you enjoy average food, it's really not worth the time and money. Also this establishment does not update its website, so do not bother to look, you don't get a menu or up to date photo of the outside of the place.

Called in for lunch, hubby had gammon, egg and chips, I had sirloin steak. We both enjoyed the food, steak was cooked perfectly, chips crispy haven't had pub chips like that for ages. Staff very friendly.

We visited The Carpenters Inn today for lunch. My husband has Caeolic disease and therefore Totally gluten free. I called ahead to book a table and advised them about the GF and was told that would not be a problem. On arriving we were shown to our table by a very pleasant chap, and ordered 2 carverys and again mentioned the GF - he said that they would prepare his gravy separately which was good. On going to get our food from the hot plate we noticed that the roast potatoes were in a hot plate but mixed with normal stuffing and yorkies, I spoke to the girl who was serving the meat to us that my husband was GF as due to cross contamination the roast potatoes would not be suitable, she just shrugged her shoulders and said nothing. Therefore his meal was minus potatoes, very disappointed. I mentioned the cross contamination to the manager and he said that they normally serve roasties ( directly from the kitchen) separately to customers, this was far too late for my husband as we had finished eating. Sorry for the essay but I do feel very strongly about this as having Caeolic disease is a serious condition and a small thing like mixing roast potatoes with other foods containing wheat is totally avoidable, easy solution, put them in a separate container.

Visited for lunch today, very disappointed. Extremely cold and no fire. Radiators slightly warm. We ate our lunch and didn’t stop for coffee as so cold. Food was ok but not great. Will not be going again.

Been here for a 2nd year for a family reunion. Fantastic restaurant which serves great food. Local cider served here as well. You also get a fantastic view of the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Bristol beyond from the car park. Bristol Airport is not too far away for people who stop by on the way. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Good carpark and lots of tables to choose from. Real ale kept properly. Standard pub fayre with the odd twist, but cooked and presented well like mum did. Lots of staff and all extremely friendly which really does make a difference. A nice find on our travels.
