Absolutely great pub, really nice people and atmosphere, Tom who is always behind the bar, makes you feel welcome! Never had met any of the people in the pub before, but soon had chats and conversations! ...what more can you ask for!!

The landlord is gorgeous and courteous. The locals are friendly. The beer is a good price. They have a pool table, juke box, football. No snobbery. What more do you need in a good old pub?

Don’t expect any frills but you can expect a warm welcome from Tom the landlord. A good choice of beers served at the bar but a few tables and chairs available. Sports TV. A pub that ignores the tat and offers an honest Devonian pub experience.

Well it's like you walked into a Gastro Fine Dinning Establishment for dyslexic Disney characters who are all out of there heads on brasso, never seen cleaner Floors or Windows , it has quite an Eclectic Array of fine Furnishings and Tapestrys , nothing better than Nestling down around the Huge Gothic Open Fireplace with a Goblet of Mead , king Arthur is said to Frequent this Establishment with his 3 legged Pony,called Tripod

One of the most enjoyable Pub in Chudleigh. Tom the host is the most professional Bar person ever known and knows how to run a Pub. This Pub is the most enjoyable Pub to relax than the nearby Pub in Chudleigh. “10”out of “10”

We went to the Ship for a Celebration, Tom, the public an was very friendly, there was a good choice of beverages and bar food/snacks. The atmosphere was good, the juke box had a good choice of music. There.was also a pool table and skittle alley, we had a wonderful night

Great drinkers pub, not foody (unless you want one of Tom's delicious rolls). Friendly faces and a great local crowd. Darts and pool table.

This is a local pub, with Sky and BTsport. i saw no evidence of food being served, apart from nuts and crisps. It is an unpretentious honest "boozer".

Very old pub in the heart of Chudleigh. Friendly. Can play skittles upstairs.

Called in one evening for a quick couple of pints and found it to be well presented. The staff were very friendly, and helpful and there appeared to be a lot of locals present which is always a good sign, in my opinion. I found the pub had a lovely atmosphere and with the offer of good food and drink everyone one seemed to be enjoying themselves, and having a good evening. Would like to visit again when I get the chance.

This is a great traditional pub with the emphasis on beer. It does not sell food so you will be disappointed if you read the reviews that suggest otherwise. The photo is also not of The Ship in Chudleigh so again you may be confused trying to identify it.

Good menu for fast food - non greasy chips! Special offers and special themed evenings. Wide choice of beers. Seating inside and outside, car park at rear.

Ate here several times and always had a good meal. Bar service can be slow. None of us had a phone signal which was great as you didnt hear the constant ringing of phones as you do in most pubs !

Stopped here for a lunchtime snack. Had the lunch deal which was a sandwich, chips and a drink. The sandwich lacked filling and the chips were poor. On the plus side, the beer was good and the staff were friendly.

We had lunch here. The food was well served, helpful staff, menu cheap enough and we didn't have to wait long, but it was pre-prepared food - you know, burgers that come with chargrilled stripes painted onto them and chips that have been cooked from frozen. What struck us most though was what a shame it was that such a historically significant building had been savaged by interior decorators to such an extent. Shame

We had a very decent haddock and chips here, well presented and very tasty. We started with antipasto this was good and fresh but the best thing was the price it didn't take our breath away! as some city prices do

Went on a Saturday night and they were playing 70s & 80s music, lots of people our age (45) great atmosphere with people just enjoying the night (not a paraletic kid in site!)

Had a small birthday celebration at short notice.....food was good...especially the peppercorn sauce.....this was on a Saturday where they have a 1970's style disco....great fun was had by all. The staff in particular were professional, fun and keen to make the party swing

Good beer and great location just near the cathedral and my hotel. Amused by attractive but very drunk student girl who was trying hard all night to fix her less than attractive friend up with a man.

Not a bad little boozer. We didn't eat there as we didn't see anyone else eating. Noisy, lots of groups coming and going. Interior is great! Don't think we'd spend a whole evening there but definitely worth popping in to this very old pub for a pint or two!

Ticks all the boxes for an English pub, where you can be in amongst it or seek out a quiet nook. Even has free wifi.

right in the hart of town but let down by lack lustre décor and tired looking staff, pull your socks up guys the ship used to be a hot spot.

It was a little disconcerting to come into an old pub and discover karaoke but it was clearly a favourite locals pub. The history (Raleigh & Drake) added to the ambiance and really, most of the singing was pretty good.

I went there a few times with my boyfriend, who lives there close to Exeter, and it was my first time in any building with more than 300 years. i loved that place.

Normalerweise folgen wir nie der Pub-, Hotel- oder Restaurant-Empfehlung aus dem Reiseführer, aber beim The Ship Inn war das anders. Bereits beim Vorbeigehen hatten wir Lust hier eine kleine Pause einzulegen. Das haben wir nicht gemacht, sondern unseren Besuch auf das Abendessen verschoben. Es gab eine typische Auswahl an Pubfood. Von deftig bis gesund, von einen Berg Fleisch bis zu vegetarischen Gerichten war alles vertreten. Alles wurde frisch zubereitet und war sehr gut.Die Pubbesucher waren eine angenehme Mischung von jung und alt. Es herrschte eine sehr angenehme Atmosphäre. Auffallend waren die tiefen Decken und die dicken Holzbalken. Alles war dunkel und gediegen. Man fühlte sich fast um Jahrhunderte zurückversetzt. Das Pub befindet sich in einer Seitengasse der Exeter Cathedral.
