If you want to have dinner in Battersea dog home, this is the place to visit. Anyone with any sort of animal allergy, give this place a wide berth. The staff and food are very good, such a shame for the non animal lover

Sunday roast isn't what it comes across as but ok . .

This is the 2nd time I have had Sunday dinner with a large group of my family. The service is second to none, the food is absolutely gorgeous with tender meat, an abundance of fresh veg and gravy then to finish very tasty puds. For a table of 14 the bill with drinks was around £25 each which I feel was well worth it. This is now a firm family favourite! Thank you.

I didn't stay, but went for an evening meal. Lovely location, great atmosphere and the food was delicious. Highly receommended. I will be back!

Booked for my mum’s birthday. Went for a Sunday roast. Table booked for 12.30. Ordered starters and mains and waited. And waited. And waited! Starters came and they were ok. Then we waited. And we waited! And an hour later we got our mains. Was it worth the wait…. NO! Yorkshire's could be used for a brick wall which was the same for the roast potatoes! Definitely not freshly cooked so why such a long wait! Gravy was like water and I suppose that’s a personal choice, I prefer a good thick gravy. Sadly the whole meal was a complete disaster! Would not recommend in any way!

Dare you take the "Rib challenge"? I didn't, I could only afford a Peroni and nursed my bike home as I have no cash till the first of October, bloody poverty

The friendliest establishment, I would definitely recommend a visit! All of the locals and staff were so welcoming and kind, the bartender Callum made me feel so comfortable and had the whole Inn looked after and smiling. The place feels really well ran and the food is amazing! Many thanks to the Ship Inn team!

Very disappointed with the service. We have stayed many times over many years and sadly seen the service go down. The staff obviously have no idea about providing a good service which is contrary to their website which wants to constantly exceed expectations ! If that is their aim perhaps they could __Repair shower fixings that have fallen off the wall before guests arrive instead of the following day __ Replace cups and saucers with fresh ones daily __ Replace milk and drink selections ___When told that the one and only lamp does not work .....replace the bulb rather than state the obvious that it probably needs replacing. ____Replace incorrect wi-fi information in bedroom. Breakfast is no longer provided. The pub closes at 10.00 pm which means after this time there are no members of staff available . Sadly this establishment needs to improve . It is overpriced and we will not be returning.We will also be letting locals know that visitors should look elsewhere.

Very bad tasting drinks, poor service, overall negative experience do not recommend. We asked to change drinks due to flat peroni and acidic tasting made and met with a rude response, lots of other customers saying the same. Overall bad pub

What a fantastic pub! Great food, service and atmosphere. Our first time but will certainly go back. My husband ordered half rack of ribs and I had a quarter. They were so tender, came with a small leaf salad and fries. Absolutely delicious! It was quantity with the ribs but for it was also pure QUALITY 👍 Well done and thank you x

Travelled for work, a beautiful place to stay. Rooms are nice and cosy, big TV in the room I stayed in, beautiful views out the attic windows. The staff were very friendly and happy to please. The food was very good, had a number of things from the menu each being cooked beautifully. Would absolutely stay here again if in the area.

Went there with my wife on a Friday evening, it was very nice , so I booked a table for Sunday evening Sat down at the chosen table and wondered why the menu hadn't been given to us , I ask at the bar and was then told they don't serve food Sunday evening , how strange , even took my phone number on the Friday . So we weren't very pleased, won't go there again for food

Staff are very welcoming and friendly, my dog likes it too, food is very good and they also have dog treats available.

I had the Ribs in Chips dish and it was absolutely delicious I would rate it very high and enjoyable, it was a lovely environment and really exceeded expectations. It was lively and friendly and I would definitely recommend!

Visited recently for an evening meal at this charming little pub on the banks of the nearby river. We had previously booked a table. Upon arrival we were shown to our window table by a nice young lady who took our drinks order. We ordered our food and had to wait a reasonable length of time which I don't mind as long as the food is freshly cooked which when it arrived it clearly had been. I ordered the chicken burger which was the best I have ever had, which I later told the chef during a conversation. In fact all of our food was excellent. Why no five stars you my ask? well the old chairs had to be the most uncomfortable I have ever sat on, but this won't deter us from making a return trip.

Great food, Great Location, poor service - We booked in for a meal here arrived at 7.30pm we were only allowed table for 2 hours which was not a problem only that we were 20 mins waiting at the bar for a drink then the girl did not know what a lager tops was. I asked for a bottle of still water with ice and lemon she served tap water without ice and lemon. We were waiting just under an hour for our food which was still not a problem, the food was lovely but as we had waited so long by the time we had eaten our table time had expired and the kitchen was now closed so we was told we could not have a pudding as it was too late. When we came to pay we were charged 10% service charge.

The area to get to the rooms was very dark, and being disabled this was not good. I also had to get up four flights of stairs, which was very hard and time-consuming as I struggle with stairs. We had a meal on the first night and the steak was amazing, in fact the whole meal was lovely. The second night, we got back at 9 pm, and the pub part was closed, so we couldn't get any food or drink, and being in the middle of nowhere meant we stayed hungry!! The room seemed to have been newly refurbished and was lovely, but the headboard was covered in dust. The coffee, sugar, and milk weren't replenished for the second day, so we had to drink decaf, and thankfully, we'd bought our own milk.

Visited on Saturday excited about a delicious meal, Having used this establishment a good few years ago, Found the menu quite limited, However the biggest disappointment came from the steak I ordered well done being still pink and runny on the inside, my partner not being sure of if her chicken was fully cooked! Then to top of the disappointment when asked how everything was and informed the young lady she was very nice and polite BTW, she went to tell the chef, who didn't come out for well over ten minutes despite the pub now being empty, and when he did he came over told me he knows how to cook a steak and what he's doing!! I found him rude and confrontational, When we paid the took £10 from the bill by way of compensation for a meal that wasn't correctly cooked and most of it left uneaten, I now unfortunately have to cross this once beautiful pub of my list of places to go locally.

Went for Sunday lunch, but no roast, just normal menu. Ordered only to be told a little later that one starter was not available, so reordered, starters delivered we were then told than one of our mainslwas unavailable, chose a different one. Food was very basic and not great. What was intended to be a birthday lunch was not at all enjoyable. Whole place is quite tatty, needs a lot of tlc.

We went to the Ship on Saturday at lunchtime, with two friends, just looking for a light lunch. There were only about eight people sitting outside - inside was only one other couple. We approached the bar and asked for a menu and one of the staff asked if we had booked! When we looked surprised and said no, she informed us that as they only had one chef they couldnt offer us a table and that was it. Neither of the girls behind the bar who were not doing anything at all, even thought to offer us a drink or suggest that they would have a word with the chef and see if they could at least offer us a sandwich or a salad which I thought was very poor. As a result, we went to The Riverside where we spent about £100 on food and drinks and had a lovely lunch, with very friendly waitresses. If I was the owner of this pub I would be pretty annoyed about the lack of effort on the part of the bar staff , given the money they lost that day along with the fact that, as a result of their complete indifference, we will definitely not be returning.

Very nice. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs. Loads of meat and great bbq sauce. Good chips and a side salad. My wife had the chicken burger which she said was awesome. Great pub.

Booked a table for 7:15 on a Thursday evening for dinner arrived on time, took 10 minutes just to be seen at the bar and be seated decided to sit outside as was a lovely evening was told someone will be with you shortly to take your order after 35 minutes of waiting for service without even a drink decided to leave, poor show £100 of my money you've lost

Great burger, lovely place, service at bar was slow but feel the lad was not used to serving, he was polite but took awhile.

We visited this lovely place with our dog. They were super friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was home cooked and delicious with generous portions and we left with full tummies. 😋

We had our small wedding reception meal in the room upstairs, could not have wished for anything more. staff were so helpful and friendly from booking and on the day Food was excellent would highly recommend.

We stopped in our van car park small but plenty of spaces , The ship inn was very welcoming from the moment we walked in till we left , Dog friendly ,( nice walk along the fen opposite ) Food outstanding prices reasonable not out of the way .very well presented,

The good me and my husband had was delicious. It wasn't quick but we knew that as it did clearly state it was made to order. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I'd recommend a good home cooked meal there for sure.

Excellent meal out for four. Nachos to share. Main meals were two surf and turf, a gammon and a half rack of ribs. I had the ribs, this is the first time I’ve actually got a proper rack of ribs in the UK. Usually you get those baby ribs which are nice enough but overpriced. This half rack was massive, juicy, very tender and with a really good bbq sauce. The steaks were good quality and cooked as requested, tiger prawns were big and tasty. Gammon was a good size and flavour. Not a great fan of the double cooked chips as a lot of people so that would be the only thing I would change. Drinks were reasonably priced. Service was great, friendly and accommodating. Questions answered confidently and good suggestions given to help us along as it was our first visit. The chef came out to check we were happy which was good. We will definitely visit the friendly place again in the future and will recommend highly.

Despite us being the only people staying overnight the chef and server were excellent, the food was first class. Sirloin steak cooked to perfection with lovely crisp and fluffy fries. Breakfast was just as good, generous portion sizes and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The rooms are large and airy with good views, overall a really pleasant stay which I would recommend

Very nice, especially for wakes and parties. In a beautiful spot, particularly in the summer, situated at the side of the river Glen. Good food, refreshments, polite staff, sun water birds, and memories. Being funeral directors, we get good feedback.

Unless you're sitting on top of the very nice stove fire the place is freezing...if they're there to let you in if you're checking in after 9pm

What a beautiful place for a family get together. Food is lovely staff are friendly and helpful. My boyfriend also took part in the food challenge, 5lb of bbq ribs in 45 mins. Never seen so much meat and yes he did it. Thankyou to all the staff for a wonderful lunch.

I would highly rate this place. The rooms are very comfortable, well maintained, warm and clean. The American lady who checked me in was extremely pleasant and very helpful. Kettle could have done with a descale. I didn't try the food unfortunately so cannot comment on that. But from looking at l the menu it looked good, although prices slightly on the high side. It would be good to see a discounted/simpler menu for guests. I.e beer and burger for £10, pizza, fries etc. Also a drinks menu in the room would be good. Would return though!

Our servers Beth and Taylor were both incredible with a warm welcome and meeting every ask. Truly service with a smile would definitely come again.

Lovely pub but meal took too long, nearly an hour, it wasn’t busy at all. Mid week evening. Food was only just warm one was cold. The fish batter was overcooked. Several of meals on menu weren’t even available.we were given money of the meal as we complained about this but the Chef just made excuses & recooked the cold one.

Arrived before 5pm and I was disappointed the pub/hotel wasn’t open as I had a room booked but as soon as it opened things got better the food was outstanding I had the half rack of ribs the best I’ve had in a long time .. all the staff where helpful and friendly . nice clean room

I spent the night here in my motorhome. I stayed free as I ate in the pub. Had a lovely meal, and good beer. Then a lovely walk along the river bank in the morning. The food is locally, ethically sourced, cooked with care and flair, and the staff were really friendly. I'll be back.

Very nice pub only problem is as with a lot of pub's these days they seem to cater more for people eating than just wanting a drink so often you can't get a seat at a table as there all reserved for people eating but on the plus side it's dog friendly also we went there last night which was Sunday they were supposed to be open till 7pm we bought a drink then went to get another at 6pm and the lad serving had locked the doors and closed early without even telling us plus other customers came and were turned away because he decided to close not good ship inn 🤔☹️

One of the most friendly, welcoming Inns we have ever visited. Whilst sat outside drinking coffee and having a chat before our journey home, the landlord offered to cook us breakfast(we hadn't pre-booked or asked). Breakfast was freshly cooked by the landlord himself and it was just what we needed after a good night out. Superb location with great views!

Friendly staff. Stayed two nights. Room was not cleaned or bed made during our stay. Coffee mugs not cleaned or replaced nor the drinks replenished . Strange tap for the bathroom. Usually seen in pub toilets. You have to hold down for water to flow !

Amazing food and service. All the meals coming out of the kitchen looked flawless, everyone in the dining area had the same reaction eachtime their food was presented to them "wow, this food is great and these chips are amazing 😁" I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a family meal, couples date night or just a casual drink The chef came into the dining room and greeted all the guests and ensured all the food was to their liking, please check this place out and give them a try.

Met a friend half way between our homes and it was totally the best place to meet. 3 dogs were welcomed, not just tolerated as is often the case and given water and we were handed treats for them. The lunch menu was not huge but varied however full menu was also available. The food was lovely! All tastes catered for and even when I thought there was a problem with my meal it was handled courteously. There was no issue just my own ignorance at what saffron looked like! Everything tasted completely fresh with quality ingredients. Desserts were especially good! Really nice staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Just returned from lunch at the Ship inn and it was lovely! Menu not massive but definitely big enough with wide variety to suit all tastes. Option of lunch and main menu dishes. Staff lovely and food very fresh with good quality ingredients. Desserts really tasty! I am very partial to crème brûlée and their baileys version definitely did not disappoint! We took 3 dogs with us and they were welcomed instead of tolerated with a bowl of water and treats provided as soon as arrived. Staff really friendly and helpful. Even a complaint that I raised was received courteously, especially when it was me being ignorant that caused it! Who knew fresh saffron was red strands? Not me!!! Re enforces the fresh food point though! Prices more than a standard chain pub but quality far superior so definitely warranted. We will return! 😀

Family meal for my 2 year old. Nice people, excellent service and quality food from the local area. Exceptional service since there was 8 of us and a lot of us wanted ribs.

My wife and I stayed here for dinner, bed and breakfast last Saturday night and had a relaxed, chilled evening with excellent food and fabulous friendly service. After a warm welcome and a brief walk along the river Welland, we started dinner with a blast from the past - a prawn cocktail but served with smoked salmon, crunchy lettuce squares and a delicate mayonnaise sauce. Truly delicious. I followed with grilled tuna on a tasty fresh baby leaf salad and green beans, baby sweetcorn. The chef found time to check how I liked the tuna and it was cooked to perfection, just a little pink inside, keeping it quite moist and delicious. Quite a short wine list which some may find disappointing but it makes it easier to choose and I enjoyed the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc with the Tuna (Jackson Estate 'The Stich'). New York cheesecake was super impressive with ice cream and cream (see photo). Only 4 rooms here, all upstairs, we had a view of the river through skylight windows, needed to keep both open as room was very warm. Excellent shower (no bath), good size comfortable room and very clean throughout. Full English breakfast freshly cooked and was as good as I have had anywhere else on my travels. Specifically very tasty bacon and crispy too plus baked beans that were served on the side and still hot towards teh end of the meal. Would stay here again. We were made to feel very welcome and staff always had time for a brief chat with us despite being obviously very busy. That is much appreciated. IF -- 9th July 2023.

An excellent riverside pub serving great food. Very friendly helpful staff. Signs to remind the customer they are not a fast food place, good things take time, though not too long. Great food well worth waiting for. Also dog friendly with several other customers making use of that. Plenty of parking adjacent and lots of seating outside for those fine Summer evenings. Would highly recommend it.

2nd time we have visited, from St Neots, this time we took our dog. Fantastic experience, water and treats left out for our dog at the table. The team there are friendly and made us feel very welcome.... The food is to die for! Generous meaty portions. The Ribs, oh my goodness are delicious x

Popped in for some dinner after hearing great things about their ribs and also the fact that Beard had visited and done their ribs challenge. We had a camembert starter which was lovely with plenty of bread. Me and the wife then ordered the ribs and without thinking ordered two portions of half rack of ribs only to be warned by the server that it was a lot of ribs (Heed the warning people a quarter rack is plenty hahaha) my wife changed to a quarter but I thought I could manage a half. I was very wrong I managed the quarter and that was it. We were too stuffed for dessert. Location was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back but might starve myself for a few days first as the ribs really were that good.

I am the fussiest person and complain at almost everything I eat out however the breakfast was of excellent quality and perfectly cooked you can tell the owner that cooks for you really cares she said to us a meal you eat out should always be as good as you can cook yourself I would say my breakfast was better and I forgot tho add it’s by far the best breakfast I’ve eaten

Not tried the rooms but the pub is excellent next time I visit I must try the ribs they look scrumptious but not sure if you have to order them before visiting?

After my dads recent passing, we booked the function room at the Ship Inn for the wake. The team their provided a delicious buffet of sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pie and cakes. The room itself was lovely and had a great view of the river and the surrounding countryside. The staff were great and very helpful. Thank you Ship Inn!

Stopped for a lovely lunch with friends on our way to the Lincolnshire Wolds. Friendly staff and a warm welcome on arrival. The sandwich menu was varied and tasty - great home made chips! Lovely setting next to the river.

The 3 of us booked Sunday roast . Welcomed warmly by 2 young ladies! We had okayed our JRTerrier & she had her own treat “pail” Fabulous food, Real ale. Great service. The pub exuded bonhomie from minute 1 to exiting the bar!!! Staff, customers...

Had a good night there,went in a group of nine some of them tried the rib challenge needless to say we all failed but we had a good night worth a visit.

AVOID unless you want to get ripped off! I emailed to book a tablet for 30ish people. Long story short, at the end of the night we were asked to pay a £100 room fee as we had to use the function room.. I had already left so my father just paid it as he presumed I knew about this. I had no idea that room was even the function room, not once was it mentioned on email that we had to use this room and there would be a £100 fee! They just presume you know this and presume you know the restaurant isn't big enough to accommodate this many people... I have spoken with them and requested a refund, gone back through every single email regarding this booking and they deny all wrong doing and will not refund us. Some of their repies were completely unprofessional and we are all completely baffled how they expect anyone to pay such fee when they haven't even once mentionted it, absolutely shocking management of this and had I of been there when they asked for the fee I would have obviously refused to pay this. None of our family will ever return back to this restaurant!

I’ve stayed here lots of times for business. Unfortunately this time when I came with my girlfriend I was disappointed. The bar staff were great but very young and left with a lot of responsibility. The room upon arrival was cold and the heating seemed not to work. The towel rail didn’t work either and there was a lack of hot water. Please note this is only one bad expert I’ve had, please don’t let this put you off. The food here is bloody great ALWAYS it’s just silly little things need sorting! I still ❤️ The Ship Thank you

We have just returned home from an overnight stay here at The Ship Inn. It was beautiful, the service was fantastic by both the Owner & the lady behind the bar (she was very busy & still new to the job but did not let this stop her, she was very welcoming & both lovely to chat to & could not do enough for us). The location, is perfect for an excellent nights sleep (very quiet, so if you're wanting a quiet relaxed night then this is for you). The food was top notch, could not fault. Great quality and very filling. The bar had character and atmosphere & the few people that came in where friendly and amiable. We booked the Executive Room, it was both cosy & stunning! There's a hairdryer, tea & coffee facilities, a heater & a fan. Also free parking available. Could not fault the place at all. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Susan & Team😊

Comfortable rooms, warm inviting bar with freshly cooked food to order. Dog friendly too, great walks wonderful hosts. Nothing not to like! We will return soon.
