Nice little pub - about £6 a pint - good beer gatden at the back. Nice place to spend a few hours.

Popped in by chance, and got to say what an absolute joy it was. Dog friendly and an extremely warm welcome. The food was delicious and the service first class. Decor was amazing and the gardens so inviting Thank you so much guys

You definitely need to book this very popular restaurant and I can see why. Not only a beautiful pub with comfy seating areas but fabulous food and excellent service. We opted for the Thai menu which is clearly their speciality but pub classics are also available. Not cheap but very good portions and we could have easily not ordered so much. We'll know for next time as definitely returning

Food was ace, then we sat around talking about weird stuff

First time visit 24/02/24 and we had a great evening. The food was the best we have all had in a long time. Food was super tasty and so much of it, i did suggest maybe they could do a smaller appetite plate. Between us we had the sharing platter for 4, panang lamb shank curry, chicken katsu curry and chicken pad thai. The waitress was lovely and looked after us well, making sure everything was ok, drinks etc..... i didnt catch her name apologies !! All in all food, atmosphere and service thoroughly deserves 5 stars, would give more if it allowed, and the manageress even organised us a taxi home. Thankyou again, we will be back soon

Not really a pub anymore, which is a shame, but a bloody lovely restaurant nonetheless.

Lovely interior (maybe less so those lampshades), food’s great too. All of the staff we’ve met have been lovely, but they’re so understaffed that the overall service is just appalling. We’ve had this multiple times but just yesterday we’d booked a table, had to wait quite a while to be seated, were promised menus…and they never arrived, we had to go and get them after 20 minutes of waiting. From then on the lack of service was consistent, we waited over an hour after receiving desert for someone to come along, but no, I had to go to the bar for the bill, then waited and again had to go to up pay. It’s not the staff’s fault, they’re busy, they just rarely visit the food tables on the right as you enter the pub - The Land That Service Forgot we call it. Lovely food though.

Spare of the moment lunch while visiting town for a walk. Warm welcome by the staff even though the pub was relatively busy they made us feel welcome and found us a table. Slightly limited menu due to it being Sunday, but that didn’t matter as the food was very tasty and well presented and not along wait for the food , attentive but not intrusive waiting staff The only negative was the gravy on the meal very thin and no taste, but dispute this I would recommend this pub/restaurant and will certainly visit again

We weren’t sure but gave it a go having previously visited before it does Thai. Service excellent and attentive, the 5 of of us really enjoyed the Thai mixed starter and various main courses.

Came from up north to meet my sister in the ship but she hadn't booked a table, the staff were very accommodating and we got a table for 2 hours ..

Having been for dri ks a number of times we went with some friends for a meal. Great service from all the staff, not quick, but I don't mind that, we had the table for over 3 hours, it's nice not to be rushed. Food was really good. All courses really tasty, with a good choice, we all enjoyed our food. Portions were generous and heat spot on. I'll definitely be back.

A strange fusion of traditional pub and Thai restaurant, nicely fitted out, a couple of ales available, the tables in front of the bar are a mistake, by all means maximise your business's footprint, but this is a step too far.

Great dog friendly pub serving Thai and traditional pub classics. The Thai food we had was excellent. When we went there they were short staffed due to staff being delayed coming back from holiday but Sonny did a sterling job and was unflappable and worked so hard and efficiently whilst at the same time training the barman Will who was on his first day.Will also did incredibly well.

I went there as a party of four, including a child, just over a week ago. We had booked in advance. Whilst the food was very good, the service was very slow. They were busy. However, we waited for 50 minutes between our shared starter and our main courses. It was after 9pm by the time our mains were served, but we couldn't finish our food as we had to leave on account of the 7 year old with us. She was supposed to be home by 9.30pm. The landlady did apologise for the slow service. It was a pity, as the food really was very good. My three star rating is purely for the slow service!

It was my first visit to the ship and I think I’ll be back. It’s a tricky one, as the food was incredible but service not so. We waited a few minutes after being seated before a drinks order was taken which was fine and we asked for some Thai crackers whilst we chose our food. The drinks were delivered and the waitress advised she would chase up the crackers. A very generous portion of crackers finally arrived and we were ready to order our food. Wow wow wow the food arrived and it was delicious… lamb shank curry, beef shin curry and crispy chilli beef were our choices and they were good. Trouble is this is where the service finished… no more offers of drinks and we only knew there was dessert as we overheard another table being offered then as we were leaving. 10/10 food, not so much for the service It was a Monday evening and relatively busy but we had booked.

We are lucky to live in Christchurch and have a good selection of eating places and bars but for us The ship ticks all the boxes with quality of food, presentation, surroundings, staff, and of course price. Staff always greet you with a smile which is always good to see these days So well done to The ship the perfect place for us 👍👏👏

Lovely venue, very relaxed atmosphere with good music and the staff were great- sunny on the bar was particularly friendly and helpful with our drinks and recommendations for food. There was a deal on the strawberry daiquiris which was great, and drinks were bought to our table promptly. We had the sharing board which was delicious and a great way to taste a few options. I had the phad Thai with prawns which was delicious, probably the best I’ve ever had- asked for the peanuts and spices on the side which they did, very accommodating- nothing was too much to ask! My partner had fish, can’t remember the name of the dish but was cooked perfectly and very flavoursome. Will return soon, many thanks

3rd time on visiting the ship and absolutely lovely. We don’t go out as often as we usually would as a family for a meal because of the cost and disappointment of a bad meal. Just to say the food at the ship is amazing big portions and tasty. Staff friendly all in all 10 out of ten.

Second time I’ve eaten here in the last few months. We were down from Lincolnshire for a family funeral. My wife was out with her friend for a pizza so I came on my own, and am I glad I did! The Ship used to be a very ordinary town centre pub, but now it serves some of the best food you’ll find anywhere. A menu of traditional pub dishes, but then a great Thai food section. I has sea bass, apparently done Korean style. It was fantastic! An absolute taste sensation. We’re back in August for wife’s friend’s birthday- I’ll be coming here again.

We had booked here for my stepdaughters 21st birthday family meal, and we couldn’t have chosen anywhere better. From booking to the end of the meal all the staff involved couldn’t have been more helpful, and the food is absolutely amazing, so much to choose from to cater for Thai food lovers and also pub classics to say spoilt for choice is an understatement. I have fish allergies and they were so helpful to ensure my choices were catered for, so I could have the dishes I wanted and nothing was to much trouble. All the food was excellent, and very good portions, I can not praise them enough for such a great time.

Great bar and food, friendly atmosphere, strangely there are tables at the bar so if it’s busy not a great deal of space at the bar causing blocking of the main walkway. Bizarre. But apart from that I would recommend.

Very busy when we went eve of 28th June 2022 730pm....food was fab ,manager/ waiter that evening was excellent, he coped very well and was polite and well-mannered , despite being under pressure. All round VG

Always great in The Ship Inn such a lovely part of the High Street in Christchurch ,food always excellent & with a wide range of dishes from fabulous Tai down to good old jacket potatoes which are Delish + sandwiches good selection of drinks & not forgeting a Cocktail should you want to endulge would recommend a visit either lunch or evening

Now a Thai Restaurant with nice food, they also have a variety of other types of food to satisfy other tastes including Spaghetti Bolognese, Cod & Chips etc.,

Eaten here before which was a good first experience. Came again and it was okay, found staff aren’t very attentive here, think it’s due to them being busy with the drinkers at the bar.

Rated as pub. Not much craft choice but a lovely place

Lucky to get one star. Had a Sunday lunch a year or so ago which should have been braised beef but was so surprised when i was given a 4 inch square large piece lump of fat , grizzle no meat at all . So I complained and the barman just looked puzzled and asked don't you want it ? He eventually exchanged it after making a sad excuse that it was just the cut of meat, with the cheaper sliced beef which was 3 wafer thin pieces and didn't pay me the difference. I went out the back as was sunny only to see the chef , through the wooden slats back of kitchen smoking but coughing and spitting ! I reluctantly went for a beer yesterday and had to pay £6 for a larger when only £4.60 for a premium lager at a more upper class pub the Thomas Tripp.

We had a lovely birthday celebration for our uncle last night who turned 86 and this was such a lovely choice to bring him for a delicious dinner. I especially love my Tom Ka Kung which is coconut cream tiger prawn lemon grass soup plus...

Nice atmosphere, much bigger inside than it appears, not tried the food yet. Customers are an inconvenience to the staff though, not really interested in serving people

Great Pan Thai food in the small but nicely done garden. The dog was welcome and some seating outside is covered. Bonus they had HSB on tap. The food pictures are the sharing plater and prawn crackers for 2.

Came in for a drink late afternoon. Barman very nonchalant! Told us every table we were going to sit at was reserved even though place was virtually empty! Think tables must have been booked for evening and not letting anyone sit there. Drinks Very expensive! We are local but wont be returning . Much more welcoming pubs/restaurants in Christchurch

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere...if you like Thai food,don't go anywhere else as this place is far better than other Thai restaurants in the area.

I like this place. It is really comfortable and very nicely decorated. I will definitely visit it again at some point. There are not many vegetarian options, however, unless I have missed some. Keep this in mind if you have this dietary need.

Fantastic lunch, my partner had the red Thai curry and said it was amazing. I had the duck breast. Big breast and wonderfully crispy. Will def come again.

The staff are really good fun in here, food is amazing. Had a big group next to our table which got a bit noisy at times but it's a pub, you've got to expect that. I enjoyed the atmosphere

There's plenty of choice to eat out in Christchurch but we chose The Ship as it looked warm and welcoming on a chilly February day. We were not dissapointed. The service and food were both excellent. I had the Sunday roast and my husband had...

decided on a whim to visit Christchurch as never been before and having wandered round we called into The Ship for lunch as looked good. Venue, decor and staff all great and menu looks good for an evening meal and lots of people having meals off of it but we decided on a sandwich and drink as lunchtime. The only criticism I have is I had a sandwich, which I will say really tasty, was expecting in white bloomer bread not bread obviously out of a supermarket standard white cut loaf packet. If you're going to put a certain bread on the menu please ensure that's what you serve or at least say that you have run out to give the customer the chance to change their mind. Saying all this would gladly go back to eat there again when in Christchurch.

The pub has a strange atmosphere as it’s centuries old but currently decorated in Asian style to go with the featured menu choices. Each seating area is well separated from the next and seating is comfortable. Wine choices are a bit limited. I have eaten...

Dropped by the Ship as it looked interesting; I'd never been to Christchurch before. Wow what a find! Was shown to an excellently located table in the front bay. Lovely wine and excellent food, good size portions too. Great jazz funk chill out tunes playing. Not expensive. Can't wait for an excuse to go there again.

Ok, we ordered way too much food and we drank quite a bit so the bill came to £45 per head. All the food was excellent. Enjoyed everything. The beef Massaman was my favourite, tender melt in the mouth meat, great flavour. Menu is Thai plus pub classics. We went full on Thai. Better than the one round the corner imho. Service was informal and nicely friendly (when we enquired about the noodles, our waitress admitted to no being sure and when off to the kitchen and came back out with a cheeky laugh and actual examples, perfect ) Having said all that, I'll not be inclined to go back to eat there because. Sadly the gents loo was a real mess by halfway through the evening. Sink blocked up and a shallow lake of "fluid" across almost the whole floor. Almost every fast food joint can keep its loos clean throughout service, so if you're charging restaurant prices..... Makes me wonder what standards are applied elsewhere in the operation. Might be ok in a spit n sawdust pub but if you're aspiring to be a restaurant, not really acceptable. I mentioned it to the staff, who reacted encouragingly but only cleared the sink, the floor was left in its pretty disgusting state. So if the loos had been clean this would have been a clear 5 stars.

Nice friendly place to Eat & Drink..

Lovely little pub setting. Thoroughly enjoyed the Red tai curry with chicken. As soon as mains were checked on though that was it. All service had all but gone and it was like we were forgotten about. Took ages to clear the table and waited half an hour just for 2 servings of ice cream. Need to decide what they want to be. A pub or restaurant as drinkers stood at the bar were putting a demand on staffs attention taking away from dining guests. Shouldn't have to wait an hour or so for deserts and the bill.

Very cold , and the weren't as much help full. Too many frames on the walls and mirrors, all i can say it wasn't restaurant...it was library..we never going there aging. Even one star is too much for them.

Nice town centre pub with outside space at the rear. The real ale that I had on this occasion was a bit flat, though on previous occasions it's been fine. We were a party of 8 and all of us enjoyed our food, which gives a choice of Thai dishes or standard pub food (e. g. fish & chips). We are at lunchtime, which was fine, but beware that the kitchen closes sharply at 3pm - we were too late to get any desserts! Would definitely go again.
