The Boathouse in Christchurch

Only been in here for the first time for an evening drink with the camera club and the service and atmosphere were fantastic. It is also dog friendly. The location is great for photography with sunsise in the winter months preferable.

Lovely meals served lots to choose from and very friendly staff. Try it won't be disappointed.

Ordered a sharing platter, promptly arrived. Issue with food was attended to and resolved immediately. Coffee lovely and outdoor part had heaters.

It was the first visit in many years. And I thought it was absolutely lovely. The lady that welcomed and served us was fab , food was yummy and reasonably priced. Great atmosphere too

In a great position overlooking the river Stour. Various areas of seating and a comfortable bar. We all had pizzas which were quickly delivered and excellent quality. A very enjoyable lunch for us all.

Lovely place to sit and have an Aperol spritz by the river. Perfect for British summer time! Staff all really friendly and service is quick.

Fabulous afternoon with lunch and desert. The service was first class. Nothing seemed like too much trouble and always with a huge smile. Hubby loved the fish. The batter was the best he’s had. The ribs were lovely. Good portion sizes. We had desert and both were delicious! Only downside in my opinion the price (a little expensive) but you get what you pay for 👌

A Massive shout out to The Boathouse restaurant in Christchurch for a wonderful family lunch for my 50th birthday yesterday 🎉🥳🎂🍹 This was a change of plan due to health reasons from original evening booking in The Chandelier Bar as this was no longer suitable for me , they kindly allowed us to change to a lunch instead (I had an eve gathering at home see my other post). From the original booking and organisation to making sure everything was perfect for me on the day. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic , so attentive, friendly and accommodating 🎊😋 Special thanks to Abi who I was in contact with via email and Jasmin and Tiziano ( sorry if spelt wrong) who looked after us so well. You helped make my birthday very special 🥳🎉😍

Flexible menu with good service albeit our waitress overlooked our starter. Great location on the water with easy parking.

Waited far too long to be served our meals given that it was not busy. I suspect that our order was overlooked as we were asked by the server to co firm what we had ordewasred sometime after she had taken the order. Sadly no apology was given for the delay!

Lovely spot for morning coffee.

Ordered 12 takeaway drinks. Staff couldn't work out where takeaway cups were despite a huge sign outside saying to order takeaway drinks at the bar inside. Lattes served with no coffee in it(just hot milk), lemonade was basically just fizzy water. Wouldn't give us a tray even and wouldn't open side door so had to walk round the whole outside with 12 drinks. Would not recommend for a quick coffee stop

Came for drinks and to sit outside. Coffee had hardly any coffee in so had to go back and have more put in. Lemonade was just soda water. Seemed quite disorganised, staff were friendly though. Quality of drinks needs to be improved.

A lucky find. Ordered a roast chicken lunch, and my fiancée had seabass, which was the fish of the day, and calamari aswell. There was quite a few gluten-free choices too. All the food was an excellent standard. Had a lovely view of the river whilst eating. Service was good, with all staff very helpful and quick

A lovely little find today by the water. The food was very nice and well presented. I am gluten intolerant and there were a good number of options on the menu! 😊 I had the sea bass and calamari today. both were lovely dishes! I will definitely return in the warmer months to come.

A fabulous lunch experience for 14 of us! A 50th birthday party. Food was lovely. Staff were absolutely amazing! Fully recommended and look forward to returning 😁👍

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Wonderful interior. Located in a beautiful spot by the river. A very nice collection of different foods. Very nice place to go with friends or family.

What a let down. Great location / terrible food

Yesterday we were celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was really good and Jasmine treated us charmingly, without her it would not have been the same. We were very happy to be able to speak a little Spanish with her. Happy to come back again😊

Good food, Arancini starter too small for the price. drinks were good, highly recommend all in all 4/5.

My wife and I had an excellent meal here...and the service matched. Full marks! If I had one gripe it's the lack of dress code. Most people were either dressed casual/smart casual but one silly narcissistic instagram-wannabe was wearing a one-piece lycra-type clothing item that left absolutely nothing to the imagination (regrettably) and was more suited to a venue offering 'glamour entertainment '. Her choice of clothing was profoundly inappropriate to the venue and she should've been denied entry.

Family brunch. Had the NYC pancakes with bacon, scrambled egg and maple syrup. Pancakes were fresh, scambled egg tasty and bacon well cooked. A really lovely meal on a grey! Staff friendly and efficient. Thank you

Pleasantly surprised actually- I don’t know why I was just expecting the food to be average but it was super tasty. I had the chilli noddles. My bf had the fish pie , his mum had the roast . All very happy. They were also really great with a dog confrontation… not sure what to call it but made sure everyone was ok and offered to take the drinks off the bill which I thought was just lovely as they didn’t have to do that

Never a negative thing to say about the boathouse. Went for breakfast, the service was polite and accommodating. They were to quick to feel as if we were being pushed out so were really able to enjoy our food. Food was delicious as always. The right temperature of serving, plenty on the plate and presented lovely! Will always recommend it.

Nice food, good service and occupied us for our needs. Dog friendly in majority of areas, but not all is proper tables (more sofa type). Occasionally a bit slow on service but overall ok.

Visited with our two dogs, were welcomed and given a lovely table in the conservatory overlooking the quay. The staff and service was fast, efficient and very friendly. We ordered two breakfasts and some sausage’s for the dogs, food was delicious, good portion and cooked well, dogs loved their sausage, delivered to them on their own plate!!! Will definitely be visiting again x thank you x

Its for a certain crowd of a certain age with a certain income bracket. Didn't have anything to eat, just drinks. Nice enough, but they don't do shots or stuff like that. Would never go there by choice only if others choose. Pretentious.

Met up for in The Boathouse for lunch with a friend which we found the atmosphere was very relaxing with pleasent surrounding , My friend ordered the duck pizza and I had the the sea bass of the special board which we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and as my friend couldn't finish the pizza ,the waitress ask if she would like to take it home ,which she did . I'd really recommend The Boat house well worth a visit.

The steak in here is just amazing. Sourced locally serve medium rare. Just Mouth watering will go back when next in the area.

Everything was nice the only thing i didn't like smell , guys you need to figure out something about SMELL!!!!

We had an absolutely fantastic family meal at The Boathouse, four generations celebrating a 90th birthday and a 25th wedding anniversary. The menu is amazing, so much choice and we all really enjoyed the food. Service was exceptional from everyone, especially Tizano, what a gentleman! We will 100% return to The Boathouse.

Had a lovely meal here for my wife’s birthday. The staff were great and very attentive too.

Atlantic cod was not good, to be honest, to the degree it was like one you could get it frozen from ICELAND.

Good location near Christchurch Quay. The staff and service are good and the atmosphere benefits from the view overlooking the harbour. We have visited the Boathouse, usually with visitors, many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our visitors are consistently impressed with the experience.

Had an early dinner with some work colleagues. We had pre booked so everything was ready on arrival. Food was really good. I had a Thai red chicken curry which was delicious and actually had a bit of a kick, very tasty. Everyone else was really happy with their food. It’s a little pricey than some places but the service was very good as well as the food. I’d recommend the Boathouse and would visit again.

Lovely place to catch up with friends. Share some mezza a couple of pizzas and a bottle of fizz. Lovely views of the river stour .

Dog friendly good service yummy food cold beers

The food was great, one of our party had the wrong meal delivered so she had to wait while it was cooked. This is not the place to come for a quiet meal - babies, dogs and drunk people made sure of that but a great atmosphere for a few drinks. Cosy by the wood burner.

Great venue with a buzzy atmosphere, the service is friendly and attentive. On the pricey side for what it is. Read the menu carefully as there are add on costs to the price for many of the dishes. However if you want to keep it simple there is a great pizza section. Cocktails are good and there is often live music. They handle large groups well if you are celebrating or having a get together.

I hired the Chandelier Bar for a surprise party for my wife and could not be happier with the venue, food and service we received. The location was perfect and the venue itself was lovely. The booking process was simple and nothing was left to chance. The views are of course stunning. A wonderful place to spend a few hours, I definitely made the right choice with the Boathouse!

Nice food - but for the price you pay its a great pity the tables are not regularly cleaned. I wouldn't eat at home like it and it's annoying to pay for shoddy service.

What a nice restaurant with a very well rounded menu that had dishes that all four of us loved. I had the pork chop with parsnips and it was amazing. Next time I am in the area, I will be back here.

Lovely location and friendly chatty staff. I only ordered a portion of fries to takeaway so I can only comment on that particular item but it was £5 for a small box of really horrible cheap nasty chips. Maybe the rest of the food is better but then again if you can't make decent chips and especially if you're going to charge that much. Has definitely put me off coming here for food again.

Good menu and friendly informal service. Had the chicken & haloumi skewers which were succulent. Very generous portions and good value for money.

Visited Friday night for a meal as we heard they had a great gluten free menu. It didn’t disappoint. Huge selection of food and the staff there were impeccable. Table wasn’t quite ready when we arrived but got a drink from the bar on the table tab, and just after we received our drinks the table was ready. Lots of table staff which were very responsive and not too intrusive. Great atmosphere and will definitely visit again.

I must admit we like the Boathouse. Staff always pleasant. Visited Sunday. Very few tables left at 1220hrs. So sat on stools on terrace. Great place to people watch. It's not cheapest place but choice of drinks, level of service, and quality of food balances this. BUT... I have noticed in last 5 years the quantity and at times quality of the Pannini is questionable. But always tasty. Case of "Shrink inflation ". But will always return. Could you look at a loyalty card?

We visit the Boathouse a lot and always have a great time. We were out last night to celebrate my sons 21st birthday and we had a space on the jetty under the permanent marquee, with approximately 25 friends and family. We were so well looked after by Simon, Cam and Honey and all the staff there.Keep doing what you do as it’s awesome.

First visit, won't be my last. Very impressed.

Lovely restaurant with it’s own crazy golf course! Excellent waiting staff were very attentive to my little boy, thank you.

My wife and I just visited here for a drink. It's in a superb location, plenty of seating. The food looked very well presented, and the bar man was spot on.

Delicious food and friendly service for my birthday meal celebration. Slightly expensive but we don’t do it very often! Would’ve been nice to have received a token something to recognise it being my birthday, but not the end of the world. Fish on the fish & chips was slightly mediocre compared to normal.

Chicken Cesar Salad had hardly any chicken. Chicken skewers was a small dish and the salad was tiny. Overpriced food for what was presented and the service was slow. Sadly, will not return.
