Food was really good chef did a great job staff really friendly great music choice and just an overall great pub would recommend it to anyone

First visit since the pub has been taken over. Ordered two parmo's both were delicious and reasonably priced. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will definitely return.

We went to try the new menu as management has changed and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food is now much better quality and portion size was great, we had two large Parmos. The chips were lovely and home cooked chunky chips. The service was great as well. We were very impressed and we will be back.

Excellent lunch with beautiful cod. Highly recommended. Two of us had the small portion of fish and chips and were suprised how generous it was. One had the full size and the fish was nearly hanging off the larger plate. Complete with tartare sauce it was delicious.

Sat in here now ordered lunch one beef and one pork when it came was ginormous beef pigs in blankets carrots turnips French beans potato roast potatoes red cabbage roast parsnip broccoli cauliflower cheese and stuffing!!! One pint of neck oil and a large white wine £37 !!!! Amazing

When you arrive and feel like you are disturbing the bar staff mid conversation, that should have been a red flag, also they were eating their dinner whilst standing at the bar, this is not good hygiene or setting a professional tone. Bank holiday (The Queen's Funeral), we had been watching this on Tv and needed somewhere to eat, no other food outlets open at this time in Marske and that is a shame as the food was awful and the lack of drinks options was a bit of a shock. we have been told since that the Ship used to be a good place to visit for food and / or a drink, this was not the case for us. you may well be happy to know that we shall not visit this public house again and as informed by some locals their nick name seems to live up to the food and service (or lack of) given, they call it The Ship Hole

We came with friends and their kids for a pub lunch in early September. The bar staff were great as we arrived just before they properly opened, but it was raining so they let us jump in out of the rain and sit at a table to have some drinks before the rest of the party arrived. I had my first parmo here! It was exactly as good as I'd been told and one of the younger members of our group, who is a self-proclaimed "Parmo Expert" said it's one of the best he's had in a long time, and I have no reason not to believe him. We were overwhelmed by the variety in just the parmo options and went for the original which was well made, tasty, the chicken was not dry at all. The space was fab for a family-friendly meal; no loud, obnoxious music, the staff were attentive and often came by to ask if a nearby open door was bothering us or making us cold, and our food was brought quickly. Would really recommend as a great place to get some lovely food for a very reasonable price.

This is our local pub and today (21st Aug) My fiancee and I decided to have 2 Sunday dinners. Well it was lovely, you got the beef & roasties already on your plate with gravy and a Yorkshire pudding, then an extra dish came with your veg and a boat thing of extra gravy. The beef was lovely and tender and once everything was loaded onto the plate it was full. Overall we both cleared our plates as it was nice and it was filling,  plus all for £11 each. Give it a go

On holiday and looking for somewhere to have Sunday roast. Not knowing the area didn't really know where to eat but so glad we found The Ship. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff and the roast was delicious and great value. I had beef and my husband had chicken. Both came with roasties yorkie and roast parsnip then a separate dish of mash cabbage broccoli carrots Swede and another dish of cauliflower cheese! And extra gravy! Would definitely recommend!

we visited as we had been told it was dog friendly,it was the food was acceptable but small in portion ,the parmo tasted great and my wife enjoyed her fish but it did not fill either of us. staff were few in number and a bit slow but very pleasant

We have been to The Ship a few times for dinner and drinks and each time it's been nice. We both have the paramo when we go and that comes with chips, a dip and salad. We obviously like it otherwise we wouldn't keep ordering the same lol. The only downside is the menu, they have cut it in half - but other than that we always enjoy our stay.

Found this friendly pub whilst staying in Marske. Great food and a really nice welcoming atmosphere. Particularly enjoyed the Fishermen's Choir and the Wed quiz night.

If you’re staying in Marske by the Sea, then do visit this pub. Good food, varied menu including vegetarian options and a warm, friendly welcome. There is something happening in the pub almost every evening, from quizzes to Salsa. Great find.

Lastnight me and my boyfriend came for food here and both ordered pepperoni parmos, when it came the chicken tasted like wet dog and something was definitely not right. the plate was dripping in grease and the cheese tasted like plastic. didn’t eat more than 2 mouth fulls. Over heard another lady on the table next to us say how vile the chicken tasted too. glad we never eat more as i think we would have been very very poorly will never be back

This public house "The Ship" is a huge Tudor Style building with ample parking. My family were on holiday in Marske by the Sea and booked a table for the evening menu. We were told by friends to sample the traditional Teeside dish, the "The Chicken Parmo". My husband and I ordered the Parmo with mushrooms. What a delightful dish and it was huge. The friendly staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Later in the week we returned to yet ordering another Parmo and this one was even bigger. Our son ordered a Parmo, but it was too much for him to finish and the waitress put it in foil for us to eat later. The Ship has a huge selection of dishes. Mum in law had the gammon and that too was enormous. A trip to the Ship is a must to sample the atmosphere, evening entertainment and the gorgeous food it has to offer. Will be back to this little diamond to sample more of these Parmos and other delights. Try it out future diners, you wont be disappointed.

We like to sit outside with our kids and dog. The kitchen is up some metal steps out the back where we sit.The foul language screaming out the kitchen windows from the chefs is just ridiculous. Also spotted a chef run downstairs into the garage where I assume the freezers are and grab two bags of supermarket frozen fish or chicken.Take a look at the photos of the beer garden. Does it really take much to sweep up and jet wash??Decent oint but that's about it.

Visited for the lunch time menu, pub wasn’t too busy. Disappointingly there was only one pie serving left which was a shame because the pies are delicious as I know from previous experience and I was looking forward to the Chicken and Leek. The meals were ok and nicely cooked. Staff were friendly and we had around a 15 min wait for our food.

Came for a late lunch with the family after walking on the beach. Plenty of room to be seated, friendly staff and locals, food was good and arrived quickly after order.

We have lived in Marske for more than 40 years and never had a meal in The Ship as we were going out for a meal thought we would put that right so on Tuesday night we paid a visit.On a Tuesday night it was Parmo night so two of us went for the full Parmo and the lady’s went for fish and chips and scampi and chips, the food arrived in fairly good time and was very hot. The food was ok but not anything special the chips were overcooked, limp and very dark in colour we noticed that both the fish and scampi were also quite dark so perhaps the oil needs changing.The parmo’s were very large and plenty of topping but again overcooked and had a consistency of shoe leather which was a shame it could have been so much better.The service was very good and we were asked if everything was ok and to be truthful it was ok but that was it, it was just ok nothing that would make me come back it was just average pub grub and overcooked. I can cook better myself so why go out and pay for it.

Used to be my local when I lived in Marske and still go when visiting the area....get some decent live music and the atmosphere is pretty decent if a lot quieter than in years gone by.

You know sometimes when go want to go somewhere different, just to experience a place? Well today, we thought we'd give Sunday lunch here a try.

We were lucky to be able to visit a few times over the last couple of weeks for our dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We took our dog and we were asked to sit in one of the adjoining rooms, off the main bar area, we were happy to do this as not everyone is a fan of dogs. The food was wonderful. The cottage pie and the potatoes and leek bake that was served with the beef and vegetables was lovely, the beef fell to bits as well. Looking forward to going back and hoping they are on the special board again.

Great place. We only visited for drinks but were made to feel very welcome. A large bar that has something for everyone whether you are dining, into your sport or simply drinking. I like that the bar is segregated into 'zones' with dedicated areas. The drinks were very well kept and the prices reasonable. An enjoyable visit.

Ordered three Sunday dinners consisting of lamb and beef which were thick slices and cooked to perfection, all vegetables were fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. One complaint was the pint of Amstel was flat, however this was resolved by a staff member going out of there way to replace the pint of lager swiftly, will be visiting again.

Went here with my husband for parmo night it was busyish but service was quick and we didn't have to wait long for our food which was gorgeous and the parmos are quite big I had to leave a little bit unfortunately I would recommend going

Ate at this pub three times in the week we were on holiday. Recommend fish pie and Chicken Parmo (order half of one if you haven't a big appetite) Chicken pie was lovely but the Steak pie was to die for. Don't miss the delicious homemade chips either. Friendly pub. Nice decor. Although it is on main road, there is ample parking at the rear.

I visited this place.for a coffee and loved the ambience of the place. Comfortable. Choice of bars. I had no intention of eating until I saw food being served to other customers and thought I had to try some. I had a small Parmo which was fantastic. Really enjoyed the food and it was also great value. I might just book in sometime for a few days.

Had an excellent Sunday lunch here. Went for the large portion and got loads of meat, two Yorkshire puddings, a separate dish of veg and my own gravy boat. Very good value, and very tasty. Couldn't manage it all though!

Visited with family, food was delicious would definitely go again, the chicken pie from the menu was unavailable but the alternatives were steak or corned beef, which suited my group. Also had the cheese and bacon panini and a tuna and mayo wrap both cane with chips, not a massive portion but certainly enough for me.

In for a meal early Sat evening special on the board mince & dumpling £8-95 or 2 for £14 so we had this.Thought we might be in for a wait as the pub was quite busy but service was quick & pleasant & we were brought extra gravy. Food was warm but I tend to like mine steaming hot also served on cold plates, apart from this we enjoyed it & pints were nice to. Staff nice & pleasant.

I stayed at The Ship for a few days early December 2017, and was made most welcome by Tony and Jan. The breakfasts were terrific: freshly cooked and with generous portions. Evening meals were very tasty too. My room was spacious and pleasant. I've rated this 5 stars for the service, but I think the owners could invest in the property, as some windows and carpets need replacing.

Buffet style breakfast. No one at bar to take the order, waited 7 mins. Poor service from all staff. Food was very basic and poor quality. Not worth the money and definantly will not be going back.

We called in The Ship in yesterday for lunch, this was our second visit. The food was again excellent and the service friendly and good. The Ship is traditionally furnished and the dog friendly bar is very interesting with lots of memorabilia , the games room looks interesting too.

We called in late Sunday afternoon for food. Although it took a while it was good when it came, Yorkshire pudding could of done with a little less batter as it was uncooked inside. Staff were friendly.

Took nearly an hour to receive two parmos on a Saturday night but they tasted very good so we will be returning! Shame they stop serving food at 7pm when they have music on though!

Mi primera visita al pub y disfrutamos de una excelente comida con un amigo hoy. La comida era muy razonable y muy sabroso. El personal es acogedor y servicial. Sin duda volveremos.

We visited the Ship Inn today for lunch. The Ship has recently been taken over so we decided to try it out. I had the fish and chips which was delicious as was the other food ordered. The staff were very friendly and attentive so we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

I actually read some reviews before making my order and our table wasn't clean so started to feel a little concerned. Placing the order at the bar took longer than it should have but from then the time it took the food to get to the table was reasonable.It didn't look all too appetising but the taste of both mine and my mothers meal was nice.The decor is very old and the chairs are threadbare but for value for money the meals are roundabout the £8 mark and portion size is good and good choice of deserts, even if we were too full to actually order them.

I'm very disappointed as the food served tonight was disgraceful. Waited an hour for 3 of the 7 meals to arrive, the mixed grills were the cheapest meat cuts and stone cold and the peas were still frozen.After another 15 minutes the children's meals were served, cold pizza and undercooked chips. Finally after 90 minutes my meal arrived and I sent it straight back as the rest of my family had eaten part of their meal and by this time I really did not want to stay. On a positive note the staff were friendly and apologetic and refunded for all of the meals. We left and called in for a takeaway. Such a shame as I've eaten here before and had enjoyed a delicious meal.

Arrived here today for dinner with no expectations.. Just good pub grub.. The food arrived and on initial thoughts looked lovely1. Parma and chipsChips were severely undercooked, but the Salad and Parma were lovely2. Gammon, pineapple, eggChips, severely undercooked, no pineapple received. Egg over cooked underneath, undercooked at the yoke. Salad and gammon were fine.3. Childs chicken nuggets and chipsNuggets fine, chips severely undercooked, most of them were green, my son was nearly sick at the table4. Childs pizza and chipsChips severely undercooked, pizza cooked on the top, but still cold underneath..We first raised the issue that the pizza was cold, it was sent back to the kitchen to be microwaved.When we raised the issue of the chips green and undercooked, we were brought two small baskets of well over cooked chips, which appeared to be scrap ends...I then highlighted no pineapple had arrived with the gammon.. To which I received a response of 'would you like a drink?' I didn't accept.. I wanted to leave!In all honesty.. The meal was one of the worst I have had anywhere, I would not recommend to anyone, unless you do not value good food.I wasn't offered any compensation for the total lack of customer satisfaction, in fact to end it all, the bar staff came to ask if we enjoyed our food, stood on my foot, and proceeded to clear the table while one of our party was still eating... Just bad manners....If I could write a review without providing a star, then I would have...

First time in this area and found this to be a lovely pub. The food was really good as was the service. And the price very surprising. Would recommend

We were there this weekend, the food was luke was and very greasy.It is over priced, the wine is expensive and not very good, and my husband tells me the beer is awful.Landlord was shouting and screaming at his staff like a loonatic and it really put my husband and I off ever returning.Better places in the area - avoid.

The supersaver menu runs all day until 6pm and has meals for £3.99 and they are freshly produced with homemade burgers and traditonal pub food. Makes taking the family out for a treat after a dog walk on the beach affordable. Dogs are permitted to sit in the Fishermans' Bar which is useful on a wet and windy day.

My husband and I had a breakfast here and it was only average. Not a meal that would make you want to go back unfortunately.

The meals are good the service was very good we go once a month with family and have a great night out, its clean and tidy, the staff are friendly and helpful, you can book and stay at the ship at Marske by the sea and then you can visit Redcar and saltburn

Always good at The Ship. Good nights out or great for dinnertime snacks etc. Food is not too expensive and they offer themed food nights. Live bands at weekends.

I have been a few times to this pub with my wife as I enjoy the range of beers available. This time I decided to order a meal - bangers and mash. They had run out of mashed potato so the waitress asked if I could have chips instead. When my meal arrived, the sausages were served in a bowl on top of the chips. The chips and gravy were floating in a sea of grease - absolutely disgusting. I returned my meal, was given a refund and left. I won't be eating there again.

Attracted in by the sign out front saying dogs were allowed, we found ample parking. Dogs are only allowed in one particular room, which we had to our selves. Food took around 45mins to arrive which was a bit longer than we had expected given that they didn't look too busy. We had all ordered stodgy pub food and generally that is what we got, however the puffed pastry pie top was burnt from one meal and the onion rings we're soggy in another. The other 3 meals were parmos and were exactly what was expected.All in all wouldn't object to going there again but given the choice I'd probably give somewhere else a try.

We couldn't get a table in our usual place so tried here, our usual place will now be a thing of the past!! Out meal was fantastic, good hearty food, freshly prepared, cooked to perfection. Presentation was also great. Highly recommend, very reasonably priced, service and staff are as good as the food! We wanted to stay longer but had to go home to undo too button on our pants!!!!

I ate here with friends. We sat in the back room where the pool table and dart board is. What a pleasant surprise to find a selection of salads on the menu, I am watching what I eat at the moment and hate the fact that going out for a meal sets everything back by about a week!I choose the chicken and bacon salad and asked for the dressing to be on the side - this was not a problem. The salad was brought in a lovely large bowl and it was really nice with lettuce, peppers, onions etc, the chicken was big chunks and the bacon was not fatty at all. I was very impressed. My friends all ordered different things from a Parmo to fish pie and they all thoroughly enjoyed it (the chips were delicious!) I think because this place is so local for me I tend to overlook it when going out for a meal, I will not do so again!Will definitely be returning with my family very soon.I also found the all the bar staff very friendly, helpful and pleasant. I have been twice over the past couple of weeks. The atmosphere is great + there's a good variety of decent quality food at reasonable prices.The staff are very friendly too, which always helps.I can thoroughly recommend the Sunday roasts.

Great pub if you're looking for friendly service and a family atmosphere. Went for an early dinner, four adults with two kids (6 and 1). Good range of meals on the menu, very reasonably priced and on a Saturday before 6pm most items come with a free alcoholic or soft drink. Would recommend the chicken parmo (when in Rome and all that), freshly made and very light. Good value for money.

went to the Ship for a Christmas Meal with 10 friends and it was brilliant.All the starters came at the same time,all food was piping hot and the puddings were good.With coffee and mince pies served as part of the deal we couldnt fault it.The service was good and nothing was too much trouble.The following day I went in for lunch with 5 friends and what a change.The soup I had was lukewarm but i didn't want to kick up a fuss.My main course was disappointing as I ordered a large filled Yorkshire pudding filled with mince.Instead I was served 3 small Yorkshire puddings with mince.For dessert the cheesecake hadn't set and instead of saying it is off the menu it was served in a glass like an Eton mess.Presentation was nil.I was told if the pudding wasn't acceptable I could have another dessert free of charge but I didn't want this.II was disappointed that 2 visits on 2 days following each other should be so different.Maybe the management need to aim for consistancy.It's hard to recommend a place which was so different from one day to the next.

Against my better judgement I agreed to visit this restaurant again. After experienced abysmal meals on a few previous occasions I reluctantly agreed to give them "one more chance". What a mistake! To begin with two people asked for 8oz rump steaks only to be told after a wait of nearly 10 minutes there was NO rump steak so we agreed to accept a 6oz sirloin. When the meals were finally delivered the CHIPS WERE COLD, THE MUSHROOM HAD BEEN WARMED UP IN WATER, AND THE ONION WAS HACKED INTO VERY LARGE PIECES. We were not offered a sauce of any kind, e.g mustard etc. the service was appalling and the staff were anything but accommodating. ( Very different from the Zetland Hotel staff the previous day). I have warned a number of people against visiting this hotel / restaurant and will certainly do so in the future. It will take a change of management & chef before I visit this dismal place again!

Half-way along the route from Saltburn to Redcar this is an ideal stop for the coastal walker. The menu was extensive, with full meals or lunch snacks. The beer was well kept and a good variety too. The staff were quiet but friendly and once prompted gave us good local advice. For those in cars there is a good car park at the rear and a beer garden to the side.

just gave the ship a try and thoroughly enjoyed it, i had a lamb rogan josh, wife a chicken diane and daughter a jacket potato with tuna mayo, 3 pints beer/lager and 4 cokes all for £32, will be trying curry night in a few weeks time

never having visited the area before and looking for somewhere to eat The Ship looked a likely place at 4.30pm. Dogs welcome in the Fishermans bar, excellent food and excellent prices. Very friendly staff and excellent service. Helpful with directions too. Got very busy as we were leaving so obviously well known for it's service and food. This is a pub but comfortable and friendly and we would definitely go back. Recommended.

Thought I'd give it another chance but really wish I hadn't. Lager is terrible, food is disgusting & there is no atmosphere. Worst pub in the area which is a shame because it used to be the best.

Love the history of the old building, very interesting. Been loads of times before and always enjoyed good choice, quality & fair price but not this time. Hopefully it was just a one off, they were very busy but that's not excuse for undercooked meal and abruptness of one member of staff.

Have to admit first time I went past this pub it didnt appeal, but it was recommended to try it, andI certainly was not disappointed. I suggest you order a Chicken Parmo, basically its a breaded butterfly chicken breast, covered with Bechamel sauce, melted cheese and a topping of your choice (I have spicy, wife had ham and pineapple). The chips come in a small wire basket, but chips as really nice, not frozen. Must hve enjoyed it a lot as went back 3 times in one week.

We visited early evening 11/6/14 & were very disappointed. The portions were small & the food was cold. This pub used to serve good food but has definitely gone downhill. Will not be repeating the experience.

We were visiting Marske for the weekend and had most of our meals in the Ship. Food was excellent especially the chips!! Good value for money.

I called in today and was very unimpressed as I ordered a curry I ordered a tikka on arrival it was yellow in colour so I tasted it .As I first thought this was not a tikka but a korma I complained about it The manager was called over a young woman a told her the problem she told me it was there tikka I said it's got no taste and tikka isn't that odour or creamy in flavour and taste I was made out to be a liar I am not amused by it at all it was a waste of time and money won't be returning in a hurry

We have had lunch here several times. The staff are very friendly, the menu extensive and the food generally very good. Although on Saturday lunchtime my salmon and peas were luke warm and the chips piping hot. We will definitely keep going back, as the food is very good, if only they would turn the music down. It is very intrusive and distracting and you can't get away from it - there seems to be speakers everwhere. Some friends of ours also commented on the noise. Please don't let this spoil an excellent local for food, atmosphere and staff.

a local pub that has a welcoming feel, with engaging staff that give you a friendly greeting,that i have had more than a few well kept beers at. the only down side i have found is the food - having only eating here twice in the past, i now stick to nuts & crisps as both times the food was at best awful.But i do understand that sunday lunches are quite good

we went on band night ,which can get very busy with great bands playing so its best to get there early .we had beef stir fry which was delicious.

Thought the Ship deserved a good review after me and the family enjoyed our pulled pork parmo so much. If you haven't had a meal in there for a while I think you will be pleasantly surprised. The decor in the lounge is quite upmarket these days and the real ale was the best I'd had in there for a long time.Friendly staff and proprietors, family friendly, and comforting to see the 5 star hygiene award by the front door.

Food choice and quality very reasonable and very good value. Decent staff and service and easy parking. A good midweek spot when casual dining is called for.

We often go to The Ship to celebrate someones Birthday and there are usually around 20 of us, so we get a private room all to ourselves upstairs. They always make us feel welcome and at home, give us excellent service and good food. If they didn't we wouldn't keep going back time after time.

i live in marske and go down to the ship alot as it is such great service the meals are lovely and not expensive either! Great atmosphere and friendly service

We visited this excellent family ran pub and restaurant on 03/08/2013 whilst visiting friends in the area. The service was great as was the home made food, we will definitely visit again! Other customers sat by also commented that their meals were great! I do however think I left my jacket.
