This ship has sunk and is on the sea bed Not been for a while. En route mentioned to park on street as car park was always rammed. There were only 6 cars in the car park. Red flag was not waving. Went inside looking forward to a nice meal as per previous experiences, the gaff was nigh on empty. A single Sunday menu with some items not available. Ordered two roast beef. Beef was tougher than boot leather and I nearly choked. Complained and it was swapped out for chicken but ate vegetables. Chicken served on its own. Issue apparently is with the supplier!!!! The chicken was more expensive than the beef!!!!! What has gone wrong here. It used to be so popular. For sure we won’t be going again.

Me and my family came to the ship for a meal the staff where amazing so was the food, i got the cheese and bacon burger which was delicious!

Came to the ship today for Sunday lunch, first time visiting in a few years and the experience was wonderful! The roast beef was so tender, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Will definitely be back!!

We haven't been to the ship for years. A reservation was essential last time we went there but we decided to pop in for a snack as we were passing. There was 1 car in the car park. That should have been the warning that made us drive on by but we stopped and went in. The good points - the staff were friendly and the glass of sauvignon blanc was nice. We just wanted a snack so ordered two starters. There was only one other table occupied but the starter took along time to come. The Pate came with sourdough bread which was stale and really should have been toasted to hide the staleness. The Pate had a strange milky liquid under the fat lid. We also ordered a humus with flat bread. The flat bread was stale and the humus had an unusual taste. I took both dishes back to the bar and we left. It was a waste of £24. IT IS NOT WORTH VISITING THIS RESTAURANT. WHAT A SHAME.

Haven’t eaten out locally in a while so we decided to go for Sunday lunch. The pub was very busy, great atmosphere, staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning

We visited The Ship at Elswick today for a surprise 90th birthday celebration and firstly we were impressed by the picturesque village it’s located in. We arrived early, well it was a surprise party, and we were greeted warmly by the staff. They had already set up a table for 21 guests and we all got seated and had a little chat and catchup. We had ordered a 3 course meal and the starters came out quickly and were enjoyed by everyone. The mains were many and varied in choice and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their personal choice as they did the sweets. Each course was served by plenty of friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. As well as a large party of 21, the superb staff managed to cope with many other guests who also looked like they were enjoying the super food. A big thank you to the chef’s, back of house and front of house staff and everyone at The Ship. I would recommend you go and try this delightful venue.

Good for a family meal out, something for everyone no matter what age or tastebuds. Very fast service so not easy to have a leisurely catch up, but nice food, good size portions and very well presented

Came here for a few drinks and food after work, the service was amazing, all the staff were so lovely and welcoming, our food and drinks order were taken very quickly, and arrived very quick to, would definitely recommend coming here and will definitely be back.

More than half of the menu was unavailable, including the Sunday dinner we actually booked for. The icing on the cake however was the burger we tried to order that was offered to us with no bun as they didn't have any of those either. The food that was eventually presented to us left a lot to be desired and was poor even on the best day. We will nor be wasting money here again. Please do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to eat. Very disappointing

Me and my friends had a fantastic experience at the ship. We were served be Jordan who was very good at looking after us, the food arrived on time didn’t take to long or to quick it all tasted delicious as well. The staff are all friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the ship for any event.

We have just left the Ship after yet another disappointing visit!! The service is absolutely fine, very friendly, but unfortunately the food we received was anything but! Starters were ok but what can go wrong with garlic bread, and tomato soup. If you like butter with your bread when having soup, bring your own because you don’t get any! I had the tikka masala which was obviously a cheap supermarket curry at the very best and the naan bread was freezing cold! My wife had scampi which was definitely just frozen scampi and the meal portion size was appalling! We only live around the corner from the Ship and often wonder why we don’t make life easier for ourselves and walk round for our tea more often. Tonight is the reason, we could have gone to Iceland and made a better tea for ourselves for less than a quarter of the price we were charged! We are not looking for Michelin star food but, the food we ordered tonight was just basic food. Do yourselves a favour and don’t bother eating here, cook it at home or go elsewhere, either way you’ll have a far better tea!!!

This wasn't our first visit at the Ship, and it definitely won't be our last. We couldn't fault anything. The service was great, from the moment we arrived, and all the staff were friendly and attentive. The meals we had were excellent. There seemed to be a few new faces in the team, but you could definitely see that there had been some positive changes. Can't wait to go back again.

Came in with a few friends and from start to finish we enjoyed everything from the atmosphere and lovely staff, I decided to have the southern fried chicken burger with salt and chilli chips and it was delicious the salt and chilli chips are now a favourite which I’ll be back for very soon!

Amazing from start to finish. We visited for dinner, upon arrival the restaurant was busy with a great atmosphere. All of our courses were delicious and the service was warm and friendly. They have an incredible selection of gins behind the bar. We felt very well looked after and the team couldn't have been more helpful. We look forward to returning ASAP!

Visited The Ship for Sunday lunch and it didn’t disappoint. Our roast beef dinners were delicious. Great selection of drinks on the menu also. Staff all very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be back soon.

We have visited this pub several times over the last few months so this review is not specific to a single visit. The food is adequate, the service lacklustre and the toilets (both male and female) dreadful. The gents’ in particular is extremely malodorous. The pub has a lovely beer garden which is understandably extremely popular with parents and their young children. There are lots of play opportunities for the little ones and it’s a pleasant venue on a fine day. In the past, this has been an award winning pub. I suspect it would not attract such an accolade in its current state.

First time at the ship, friends recommended it, knowing we were going to Blackpool, and with Elswick being only a short distance from the M55, was worth dropping in for a snack, which I’m glad we did, we had a very pleasant lunch, very pleasantly surprised how friendly the young staff were, and the pub itself had a really nice warm atmosphere, my husband and I had Beer Battered Fish Finger sandwiches with chips, they were very nice, definitely recommend it,

New management brilliant! I’ve been coming many times and unfortunately the last time (blonde mgr) just seemed to not be as bothered as before. The staff seem to have had a lift and Jordan the new lad supervising the floor is the perfect fit. I’m really reluctant to write this as the two young women serving were trying their best but evidently there are issues with management. The pub was quiet, Tuesday evening. The order was emailed in advance as we were a big family group in for a birthday. We have visited many times previously. Drinks order from table - drinks came incorrect Starters - came out in twos over a 20 minute period , one soup was freezing cold and we returned . Two starters missing and we had to get up and chase up as to where they were. Chicken strips looked minuscule and dry. Mushrooms piping hot in places , freezing in others - microwaved?? Mains - the chips were like Aldi frozen skin on fries , so disappointing. Chicken burger was barely eaten as had unusual taste. Service - could’ve made so much more money! No one came over to see if we wanted more drinks and we like a few drinks! We would have ordered desserts … no one asked and so after waiting we decided to go. We are excellent tippers usually (esp after several glasses of wine!) but left feeling disappointed so didn’t tip as we would usually. One of the elders in the group mentioned politely (and with humour) at the bar as we were leaving about the standard of food needing an upgrade and the staff member looked terrified. So gutted for them as they deserve decent training and looked like they’d been left holding the fort . We won’t be back for the next birthday :(

Mother’s Day 2024 table booked for 4 pm the earliest time we could get. A set menu for £30 but out of 6 items on starters and desert only 2 on each available. What we had was nice but not what we wanted

I’m so disappointed to be writing this but our experience was a disaster from start to finish. We had booked well in advance but the table wasn’t ready on arrival, that happens, totally fine but when we go to be seated the waitress says oh they’ve put someone else on your table so then we’re stood in the middle of the restaurant waiting for them to clean another table despite there being plenty made up. We then had to get our own menus and brush the crumbs off the seats. Again, it’s fine, these things happen, but it just never improved. We ordered the food after a long wait at the bar and one hour later they arrived: 2 x chicken tacos, 1 prawn cocktail and pork belly bites The chicken tacos were freezing cold and filled with chillis, I literally picked off a total of 30 from my portion and there was still loads on it. Couldn’t get a drink at the bar after waiting 15 mins either with a burning mouth! The prawn cocktail had a total of 3 baby prawns that my mum said tasted like frozen ones and they apparently should have been king prawns. The pork belly bites had little to no sauce, were rock hard and looked like dog food. They weren’t even eaten - my partners an ex chef and said they’ve clearly been thrown in the fryer to reheat hence the dryness. The service was terrible, and I feel awful for saying that as there was only a young girl working and it wasn’t her fault - she didn’t know what she was doing and seemed to have been thrown in the deep end. When she brought the starters over she didn’t mention what the dishes were, just said ‘ I think these are yours’ and shoved them on the table pushing the glasses etc. she slid the dishes into the wrong places too as she didn’t ask who’s was each dish.. it was very unprofessional and messy. Then 2 mins after she’d brought the starters she starts bringing out the mains? We o pointed out we hadn’t eaten our starters yet and she said what shall I do then do you not want it?? She also cleared the table before everyone was finished eating. I felt awful and didn’t want to complain to her as she was so young but when I mentioned how bad it had been she looked d like she could cry so I left it. She clearly hadn’t been trained appropriately. At this point we decided we didn’t want the mains anymore as for the price being paid, the standard of food and service we’d received didn’t reflect it & it wasn’t worth the risk of being poorly as the mains could’ve likely been sat on the pass for the past 30 mins whilst we ate starters. The lady at the bar understood and cancelled them for us thankfully. Very disappointed that we won’t be returning after this experience, unfortunately also ruined my mums Mother’s Day meal.

By far the worst experience I have ever had.. booked for 6:30 waited 30 mins to be told our table was ready to then got taken to our table to then be stood in the middle of the eating area to be told someone had given our table away..staff were rude food was terrible I felt so bad for the young lady who was getting it from everyone waited a hour for our starter which came cold! Never have I walked out of somewhere but I had no choice Terrible management when told we don’t want our mains and will pay our drinks she didn’t even argue she just agreed and said I’m sorry for that Poor!

Went as a party of six. My wife who is coeliac was immediately shown her gluten-free options, of which she was very happy with. All of us had two courses each and we all enjoyed the perfectly cooked food on offer. Washed down with a perfect pint of Guinness too.No complaints whatsoever. Loved it.

Please help the staff out management, cask ales on tap and nobody can pull a good pint, serving it like dish water. They have new staff on that don’t have a clue what they are doing, this is all down to bad management. It’s embarrassing, and unfair on the staff, customers pay very high prices for drinks so make it worth it when they drink it.

I ordered a Vietnamese King Prawn Curry I received a Shrimp Curry When I pointed out the discrepancy to the Manager she said their supplier had sent the shrimps instead of the King Prawns, she apologised and walked off!! We have been regularly diners at The Ship for decades and last night was by far our worst experience The staff were very young and obviously very inexperienced Service was slow and the bartender didn’t know how to prepare or present drinks We will think twice before returning

First time visiting The Ship Elswick. My husband and I went for lunch. Beautiful place which really took us by surprise. Had a fantastic meal from the Early Menu. I had Beer Battered Fish finger sandwich with chips, and my husband and Fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce. Both meals were absolutely delicious. I also had a dessert which was Lotus Biscoff Sundae. Amazing. Both of us had a drink each too, and it was brilliant value for money. Thank you so much to Jess, who was working the bar and taking our orders, and also to the chef. We will definitely be back. 5 stars

Ordered food at the bar, no one informed me the wait would be over 30 minutes for a roast dinner. After 40 minutes I enquired where my food was, member of staff didn’t seem surprised we had been waiting so long. 10 minutes later the food arrived, no apology for delay and no offer of complimentary drinks as we had both finished our drinks. Food was really nice and hot but we won’t be coming back. Table next to us also complained about the delay, what a shame.

We’ve visited the Ship with our four children and as a couple on a number of occasions since it has been taken over and it never fails to impress. The service is always very good, the staff are attentive and the atmosphere is that of a warm, welcoming and friendly pub. Arguably the best Sunday roast on the fylde coast. The trio of meats is a must. The double bacon cheeseburger is a family favourite with a side of salt and pepper chips, and cookie dough for dessert, you will not leave hungry! A great selection of well kept real ales are available, we couldn’t name a favourite, try them all 😜 All in all, a great place to eat and drink. Family friendly pub.

has-been a few years since last visit, used to be really busy , 2 other tables occupied , excellent log fire , unfortunately not lit , food portions small , quality of steak pie poor , 3 small pieces of steak , peas poor quality, very little mash on the sausage and mash, very overpriced.

The menu is very traditional fare and when it arrives at the table exceeds expectations the taste is brilliant and tastes really home made
