The food is excellent, the staff are friendly. It's s lovely pub to pop in to for a pint and a meal.

Sadly pub had a group of regular "travellers" in, several fights, very loud arguments, bar items thrown... Most people left.

Quiet upset with my experience here, been here plenty of times however one member of the bar start decided to get quite aggressive and confrontational when question on their pouring of a drink. Really disappointed that one member of staff let down the whole evening

Us five ladies had a lovely time here for our lunch. Dawn our waitress was helpful as usual & made sure that our orders were correct & what we wanted. The food was lovely & fresh & reasonably priced. We will definitely go again.

Hired the venue for my dads surprise 80th birthday party, The guys put on a stunning spread of top quality grub for a VERY reasonable price, Can’t rate the place any higher, Nev, the duty manager was so attentive and made sure everything was spot on, massive thankyou from myself and my dad👊🏻👊🏻

Part of Ember Inns, a lovely pub with a great menu. Ordered the sausage mash, ale and onion gravy and crispy onions which was delicious. Recommended

Booked a table through the phone, upon arrival we were blanked by staff members and ignored by staff stood at the bar. After waiting for 10 minutes we were finally seated and left to our own accord with no instructions on how to order any food or drinks. Thirty minutes go by before a member of my family realised we had to order the food ourselves at the bar, yet after ordering the food, we still had to wait over an hour to be served. I ordered my steak well done and when cut into, it was completely pink, the waiter said he would speak to the chef and be right back. However, fifteen minutes later after all of my family had finished eating, he was still not there. Frustrated and confused, I returned to the same member of staff and asked him what was going to be done about my meal to which he replied ‘let me talk to the chef now’. So what was done after the first complaint? The manager then offered to recook the steak which at that point was too late because I was already fed up and asking for the money back for said meal. Not only did have to ask for my money back, but they couldn’t even put the amount back on the card I used so i had to take change. Even after all of this, they only offered myself a complimentary desert, ignoring the other 4 members of my party and not even asking if they wanted anything. For spending over £80 on a meal, I did not feel although the ship ashore lived up to its standards of food, service or quality and for that, I am very disappointed.

Over five years now I've shopped at the Sainsbury's next door but visited here for the first time at Christmas and the second time last week. It's ok here!

Had a fantastic meal here, I highly recommend the beef rib. Nice cosy open fires to take the chill off too. AMAZING

We were passing and thought that we would head into the ship ashore after a long drive, we’re glad we did. Amazing food, my beef rib was outstanding. Bar and waiting staff were extremely chatty and pleasant We will definitely be back

Went for a pre Christmas meal with friends. Food was very mediocre, our meals arrived at different times. Not a patch on The Brewers Fayre just down the road. Wont return

We just had a really lovely meal here. The restaurant was very warm and inviting and very clean. I had some vegan options and I was very impressed. We didn't have dessert on this occasion but I'm looking forward to popping back in for the Vegan Cheezecake.

We were welcomed to the restaurant by name, which was a nice touch. The service was very good, efficient and polite. Throughout, it felt like there was nothing that was too much. The only criticism I can make is that we actually got our starter before we got our drinks!

We've been living in the area for years and had never gone to this pub. Well... didn't miss much to be honest. My wife and I decided to give it a whirl for lunch. I ordered the Crispy Prawns as a Starter and a Bacon Cheese Burger as main. My wife went with a bowl of tomato soup as starter and regular BBQ wings as main. The prawns came out... Description says King Prawns ...I paid £5.99 for ... THREE small prawns. Yes THREE... I had to chuckle when the waitress brought the plate. I looked at her with the humblest face I could muster and asked ... "Seriously?" I won't write her response but I liked it. The manager was pretty apathetic about this when I asked to speak with him. The rest of the food? Who cares! I paid £5.99 for three little prawns with some green vegetation and a pink sauce. It ruined the whole meal. They even came in a small plate try and make them look bigger, lol. You live and learn.

Long wait for food, nice when got it.

There were only 2 members of staff in front of house trying to serve festive menu guests and others eating as well as serving behind the bar. They were both very helpful and nice and did well under the circumstances but extremely understaffed. As a consequence most of our meals were served luke warm and there were extremely long waits before each course arrived. Even though we had asked for the next course when plates were collected. The main course despite pre ordering several weeks ago one had festive pie only came with sprouts and mashed potato as other veg was not available it was clear that the food had been standing for sometime before being served to us as it was very dry and luke warm and the veg was as if heated in microwave. The only thing that was served hot was the apple and blackberry crumble for dessert. All of my festive party were disappointed and said we would not return. Note the Manager did reach out and asked me to contact them to give them a chance to put right. I did and the duty manager took my details and said somebody would call back that day or at latest the following day nobody called!

Great food and an excellent selection of well kept real ales.

We came in for lunch on a cold December Saturday, and we were astonished by the atmosphere. The place had burning fireplaces and amazing Christmas decorations that just made everything super cosy. It wasn't packed. The service was excellent - smiling, polite, and quick. They had a good range of food options, and they prices seemed reasonable. The food was alright, what I would expect from a local pub. The onion rings were very nice, though. They also have Quiz nights, but I'm not sure how regular it is. Overall, it was a great experience.

Dogs welcome in the garden and pub. Food hot and lovely. Great range of drinks. Friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely service and welcoming, staff very friendly. Its Amazing how dog friendly this place is, truly modern how an establishment accepts that Dogs are part of a love filled family. The majority of visitors are Dog owners or at least had affection as a child and is Dog loving. The atmosphere is amazing and I realy appreciate how welcome my elderly Mother is treated especialy when she visits on her own, or with her little dog that sits with her! It's also perfect for those who aren't too keen on dogs, the pub offers a beautiful Latte with extra sugar it's sure to warm and sweeten a cold bitter dead heart. Will definitely visit again ☺️ Also with thanks to two members of staff in particular, one I believe was called George, or possibly Gregg, very friendly and was truly delighted to have a customer appreciate the dulsite tones of Craig David that they were playing. If his career in bar tending goes south I'm sure he is to find a future on Britain's got the pop factor on Ice with his own angelic rendition of "Don't love you no more". Also a thanks to the other chap who i believe lived somewhere in mid 17th Century Franch whom I believe was called Aramis. Who had an uncanny resemblence to Marco Pier White, Either way lovely chaps both of them.

IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE TOOK OUR NEW DOG TO THE PUB AND WAS VERY GOOD. STAFF WAS VERY GOOD AND WE ENJOY OUR STEAK DINNERS AND EATON MESS. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PUB

A little too dog friendly for my liking , dogs on the sofa, on the cushions, staff repeatedly petting and stroking them with no hand washing apparent, then serving drinks and meals Yuk !! Still got dogs standing on seats, not right despite earlier reply

Came in today for my Grandmothers 70th Birthday. Liam and Neville collectively looked after us with such care and kindness. Amazing customer service, always keeping check and were both approachable and very helpful. Thanks to both of you!

After checking out the website my wife and I decided to visit the ship ashore for a Sunday roast, so we booked a table. On arrival the following day we were told to 'sit where you like' So we chose a table and studied the menu but could find no mention of Sunday roast, I asked the waiter only to be told that they did not have the equipment to cater for roast lunches. We then reviewed the menu and decided to go for a steak (both sirloin, medium rare and one peppercorn sauce) When the meal arrived there was no sauce, the peas were shrivelled, the chips were cold, my wife's steak was well over, no mushroom and even the plates were cold. When the waiter returned to ask if everything was ok I told him how disappointed we were with the meal which we did not eat and didn't pay for. Then finished our drinks and left. On the way out the waiter apologised once more and said he would check out how they failed and what they could learn from their underperformance. Don't know kow if this is typical of this establishment or just a one off but needless to say we shall not be hurrying back.

Excellent staff, very nice food but chips were cooked a long time ago and had died, exterior paint work in need of attention. The service was quick but would have preferred fresh chips.

Terrible food experience on visit, young lad or restaurant staff delivered incorrect order. Pie was soggy and seemed microwaved, Vege was soggy and although manager tried to offer compensation I wouldn't be likely to return. If a pub is not busy on a Thursday there's usually a reason why.

My brother, his dogs and I often visit this pub for a few drinks and a bit of food. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, the beer is great (Timothy Taylor’s Landlord!) and the food reasonably priced. Liam and Nev in particular is a great guy and an excellent host! I highly recommend this boozer!

Not great. Items not available, didn't get what ordered, bit slow. Lettuce in the burger should have been put in the rubbish bin. The decor was very tired and the whole place would benefit from a good good clean.

Had a meal here, it wasn't as hot as I'd like but it was good. Serving staff were very friendly and corrected a mistake on the order with offer of a free drink while we waited which, was more than expected. Nice atmoshephere and decor.

Greeted to a woman behind the bar sorting some 17yr old a job out on the phone,when conducting business on a phone,loudly,propping up against the bar is not professional. I had steak ciabatta,asked for well done came out pink! I was lucky enough to have 3 out of the 5 strips of the steak being the fat cut!! Unreal. £30 for 2...the place was dead I now know why the businesses across the road don't come in for lunch! On a plus the waitress service was good no issues there 👍

Basic pub that serves good food. What set it apart was the staff, really attentive. Speedy food service and they made us feel welcome.

Terrible experience. Arrived at 5pm for my booking. Told we were the only booking so could sit where we like, but they were not serving food until 5.30pm. When we went up to order food, there were no Sunday dinners and no steaks. Ordered the posh fish and chips. When it arrived there were no mushy peas or tartar sauce. When we asked, were told they had run out! When we pointed out this wasn't very good especially as this was our third choice from the menu, the server got very defensive, saying it was only his third day and he only works here part time! No apology and no substitute offered. The meal was awful, chips recooked about three times. Will not be visiting again and will not recommend to anyone. Gave one star as cannot give none.

The most awful Sunday Lunch I have ever seen. I was refunded without question but the manager should be embarrassed expecting people to pay money for that so of standard.

Went there today (Sunday) at 17-00 they had no roast dinners left My second choice was steak but they only had one left which I ordered and paid for only to find out 10 minutes later I couldn't have. Settled for fish and chips but don't remember asking for a child's portion!! Our meal should have come with mushy peas and tartare sauce but they had run out of them as wellAnd to cap it all off it took 40 minutes to clear our finished plates. The drinks are very expensive and the dinner we had was poor quality. Overall it was a forgettable experience we won't be going there again

My wife ,daughter and my sister-in -law went to this pub, 23rd of April, was greeted by an amazing member of staff, don't know his name, tall, with longish hair, he was very pleasant and friendly, he is a credit to your pub,

We went today and had a terrible time. First when ordering most of the food was off the menu, when asked I was told they are changing the menu next week so had no stock in. We were not told this when calling to book or on arrival. We ordered and over an hour later waiting I was told there was no beef left and I could still have a roast dinner and order any meat so I opted for gammon which was available for gammon and chips. Fine. 30 mins later one of our party complained about the wait and we were offered a round of drinks which we politely declined and instead we had a £10 refund given but still no food. When it finally arrived the roast dinner was a piece of meat, cold potatoes, dry stuffing ball, dry cold Yorkshire, salty gravy and cold peas. Nothing like what's described on the menu which should have had parsnips, carrots, steamed veg and a pot of gravy, also ordered pigs in blankets which never arrived but at this point we were so fed up i could be bothered to ask for them. I asked the staff member if this is a roast dinner? She apologised gave me a refund. The rest of the food wasn't great and missing so many items on each plate. Again we were told about the change of menu. Our daughters scampi and chips wouldn't have been enough as a starter and my husbands steak was okish. So many people were waiting and complaining, It was awful, please avoid and save your money. I did feel sorry for the staff as they were really up against it. The management and owners have a lot to answer for this complete mess.

Good sized pub and fine for a drink. Food is average and priced to be just that. Don't expect gourmet. TVs and fireplaces make it a relatively nice place to have a drink. Dogs are allowed
