Traditional & very quaint pub in Grade II Listed Building just opposite the park & mins from the harbour. Great location. Atmosphere, service & food were all first class & cannot recommend the Sunday roast highly enough. Desserts to die for. A little gem of a pub. Give it a visit - you won’t be disappointed.

Best place we ate at during our break. Leslie, the new manager is fab, a people person that will take this place up to another level. It's true what they say about the steak pie!🤗🤗🤗

Came away with the dogs and was looking for a dog friendly pub... look no further, good menu reasonably priced. We did reserve a table as we wanted to make sure we could be seated out the way as i have a 9mth old rescue pup so all new experiences for her. Good job we reserved as it was getting quite busy as we were eating... always a good sign and a mix of locals and people getting away. Food was good as were the prices, good place if you want to drink, eat or both with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be visiting again. When we were about to leave the owner came over and spoke to us and said hello to the dogs and explained about my 1 eyed pirate girl being a rescue the Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue which he asked me to comment in my review (I wouldn't normally add another comalny on a review) Any doggy parents out there.... head to The Ship we need to use these dog friendly eating places or lose them and when you're here on holiday like me its good to be able to go out for a meal knowing the dogs can go too👌

The Sunday roast at Y Llong is fabulous, you can have a mix of all three meats, beef, turkey and pork, with fresh vegetables and the best cauliflower cheese....the staff are helpful and willing to give extra gravy 😁, nothing is too much trouble....thanks for a relaxing perfect afternoon.

Called in for something to eat, simple as that. Lovely warm welcome, nice atmosphere and a good and varied choice on the menu. My Mrs had Chilli, she said it was very good indeed, I had ribs, I like ribs and I reckon to know where the best ones are - ‘till now . . . . these ribs I had here have to be the best I ever had, beautifully cooked, loads of moist juicy meat, delicious sauce and gorgeous chips, simply off the scale, topped off with a special of treacle and spiced Iran’s tart / wow ! Pub food of the likes I have never had before, it really was THAT good.

Our experience in The Ship/ Y Llong in Porthmadog was jusy what we wanted. The atmosphere was lovely and the mellow lighting contributing to it. The food was delicious and the bilingual service was efficient and friendly. We were comfortably warm and able to have a really pleasant relaxing evrning.

Went on a Saturday night and had a lovely warm welcoming reception. A nice respite from the cold and wet weather outside. Order taken promptly and service was good. Had a fab Steak and Ale Pie and my better half had the Thai fishcakes. Both were delicious and arrived on hot plates!. Had a lovely IPA and was told the Prosecco was good, and reasonably priced. All in all a great night. We will be back.

Received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our reserved table. The food arrived promptly, hot and was delicious 😋. Staff checked on us and brought our next round of drinks to the table.

We booked a table for 2 consecutive nights as we’d been here previously about 8 weeks ago and had a lovely time. We arrived early and ordered drinks, asked for the menus and were told that they’d be brought to our table. 30 minutes later after asking again the menus arrived. We ordered our food and after entering the pub 75 minutes earlier and watching others arrive after us, order, eat their meals and leave the place, I asked why we’d been ignored for so long? The girl behind the bar was very apologetic and we don’t blame her at all. We realised then that the owner a guy called Rob, who was sitting behind us for most of the evening and was keen to apologise, whilst sitting on his backside, clearly watching his staff struggle, it all felt completely insincere and insulting. We refused our food which had miraculously appeared just after complaining, I would never eat food from a kitchen after complaining and so we left. We offered 2 or 3 times to pay for our drinks and they refused to take our money. To treat returning customers as this is demeaning and embarrassing and we won’t be back. The real issue for me was that having taken insulin 20 minutes after ordering our meals, we had to leave to try and find some food before I developed a major issue.

Unfortunately the food was very overpriced for what it was, the chicken goujons in particular were terrible, clearly cooked from frozen and the kind you could buy in bulk from Iceland. For the price of £15 it was a total rip off. Staff were okay.

The Ship was being taken over, we were in on Sunday and there weren't many in, good luck to them, it used to be a good place to eat and drink.

My favourite pub beer is fantastic. Food is always really good and the services exceptional

The meals were out of this world, I had homemade steak and ale pie, the meat was so tender, and my partner had the bbq rack of ribs and he said they were perfect, we also had waffle and ice cream for desert, wow they were amazing

I found this pub by chance while I passed by in Porthmadog and it was a nice surprise. I had one of the best pie ever in the Uk travels, the beers were very good and the staff very nice and kind

Really disappointed when both our first and second choice places to eat were full. It was a blessing in disguise as The Ship was a wonderful surprise. Food portions were large, they beat all three of us. Prices were reasonable. The service was excellent friendly & attentive Would recommend everyone in the area visuts

It’s a real traditional pub that serves great food with superb Beavertown on draught. The staff are extremely helpful and kind and I wish we lived next door to the place.

With staying local, wanted a Sunday dinner for my wife and daughter. The Ship was recommended on some local Facebook sites and reserved at table. More than happy for the dog to come into the bar. Table was reserved and order placed. Food was quick to arrive, hot and plentiful. All meals were fantastic and will be visiting again. All three of us and dog very full. Thanks for looking after us.

The most amazing food with a brilliant atmosphere. Staff lovely and premises spotlessly clean. Ate on a Tuesday night and after food we were treated to some lovely live music which was excellent. Would not hesitate to return.

Well it was ONE of the best meals I had in a pub for a long time! Everything was freshly made The portion size is perfect and not over priced. The staff was friendly and quick The place is clean and the people are friendly too DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TO VISIT if you here in Porthmadog

Short trip to Porthadog- wandered in here when passing! Feels like a cosy locals place. Beer good, food good quality and home style… definitely worth a visit!

Called in after looking for somewhere to eat and all cafes closed by 4-30. Entered the Ship Inn to be greeted by lovely staff and ordered 3 steak and ale pies and a chilli-con-carni. One Chef had not turned in for work, but service was quick and the food was delicious , meat just melted in the mouth and so much of it. Would highly recommend this Inn to everyone.

We were a group of 10 looking for a place for food and to watch the England game. We were looked after by the staff who were kind enough to let us watch the game. We all ordered the steak pie which was fantastic. Proper home cooked meal presented well and reasonably priced. The beers were good and a good selection

I would say this is a pub that provides food and a few draught beers. Do note the order I have placed those items in as I think that shows the priorities of this pub which is situated behind a park away from the High Street.

We had the Sunday roast. We were given large portions of meat and ample veg.

The best roast Sunday lunch I've had in years. Beautifully presented and excellently prepared. Great value and generous portions. Sadly, there was no real ale today, so I had to have Madri that specialist (yuck) Spanish beer brewed in Warrington. Worth a visit this place!

Visited today whilst on family holiday. Was recommended by local coffee shop employee. Have got to say it was probably the best pub grub we've ever had. We had burgers the lasagne and steak pie which had enough veg to feed an army..... ❤️ Incredible value, lovely staff who opened the bar early for us 5 star 🌟

I don’t recommend. I came here last night and had a cheeseburger basket meal. Although the price meant it wasn’t going to be amazing, I didn’t expect a rubbery, weird textured beef burger. The cheese was like pizza cheese, I’ve never tasted such a horrific burger. My Nan did enjoy her burger though which is why I haven’t rated this place 1 star. Unsure what has happened to make my burger taste so disgusting. When I told the girl who took my burger she lacked customer service skills, I said the burger really did taste disgusting and the other details above and all she said was okay. A little bit of acknowledgment towards me would be nice such as ‘I’m so sorry about that, let me go speak to another member of staff’. Although a drink I believe was knocked off the bill please sort out the burger. It didn’t even have sauce inside like ketchup. Also to add I have had diareah all early morning of today. Not good.

We were on holiday in Portmeirion and decided to visit the Ship on the Saturday night. Luckily we had booked a fortnight or so beforehand Wow we certainly made the right decision, the place was packed, the atmosphere was superb and the food ? That was the best we have had for a long long time.9

This is the sort of Pub that you remember from your youth and you are lucky to find these days. Cozy tradition pub, serving very large portions of traditional pub grub (Hint[ the steak and ale pie is especially good). No ''craft beer,'' or Nettle and Quinoa tadziones - good, solid food here. The Welsh Cyder is good too. I would have given Y Llong 5 stars except for two relativelyminor things; 1 the table was very sticky and is in need of a good washing-down with vinegar or sugar water 2. The Menu looked as though it was printed in 1975 and had a lot of handling in the last 50 years. Get some new ones photocopiedan replace them when tey get grubby folks!

Porthmadog really lacks good pubs and good places to eat, which is odd for a tourist town. Consequently, the Ship is VERY popular. It serves really nice homecooked dishes and is excellent value for money. Proper pub grub. You can't argue with it. However, it's strangely unfriendly and inhospitable. You feel like they are doing you a favour by serving you and they persist with a Covid era table booking system, which means you can go there at 5pm and every table in the pub has a 'reserved' sign on it. Incredulous looking people are turned away, despite being surrounded by empty tables. It's a strange way to run a pub.

We came here as were looking for some dog friendly pub food during our stay at Porthmadog. And we are so glad we came. You definitely need to prebook as it was busy! We got the two meals for £20 - a chicken curry and lasagne. Plus a portion of chips of course. Our bill came to £40ish but considering we had two pints of beer and two pints of coke, not a bad bill at all. The food was delicious!!! I would recommend the lasagne as it was gorgeous. If we lived closer, we would definitely be regulars.

We ordered two Sunday lunch take away meals, absolutely fabulous, best value for money ever. We had loads of meat, peas, red cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, mash, roast potato, with Yorkshire pudding and stuffing and gravy all for only £8, amazing value and good quality food.

What rude staff opening time is 2:00 and lights was on we trying to ring up wondering what's going on as we are out side waiting. We looked through the window to see staff stood there then they turn there backs and turn the lights off. Don't they understand the opening times are opening times ?? RUDE / poor

Visited after a local person recommended it to us, staff were welcoming and friendly food was lovely, hot, and substantial portions, the beef and ale pie was gorgeous, in fact we went back the second night would highly recommend and will definitely be going back next time we are in the area

Fantastic little pub! We visited here in July when we were in the area and saw a band called 'Brooke Stevens Band'. My dad loved them. After we got chatting to the lovely owner of the pub, Bridget, we found out that her birthday was the same day as my dad's in October. My Dad said he would love to come back to celebrate his 80th Birthday. Bridget amazingly arranged to have the same band on in the pub, especially for my dad, we put balloons up and banners, and everyone made him feel so special. He really enjoyed himself, and it made his birthday so Fantastic. The food in the ship is incredible, all home cooked and delicious (steak pie is truly amazing). Thankyou so much Bridget for your hospitality and making my dad's 80th birthday such a great night. We are all very grateful.

Had dinner here early in the week. Nice pub. Warm welcome. Good beers. Beautiful food. The Ship was busy but not too busy to find a table. We ordered steak and ale pie. Served in a pot with a very light pastry lid. Succulent meat and rich gravy inside. Served with veg. Crisp cooked chips and extra gravy. It is a beautiful steak and ale pie. The best I have had. Very tasty. Very meaty. Lovely pastry. The chips are nice and light... cut in an unusual shape... but great for scooping the rich gravy of the pie. Definitely recommend a visit. Decor had chadburns engineering too

My sister and I were staying in an apartment at the marina and came in for an evening meal. The food was delicious for both a vegetarian and a meat eater. Reasonable price too.

From the offset staff were rude, ordered drinks then the contact less machine was thrusted in my direction. Had to ask the woman if she cared to let me know how much to pay! Overall no atmosphere and swiftly moved on to a decent venue, greeted by staff without the attitude. Thanks to the bar woman with an attitude I saved myself some money, had food elsewhere and most importantly a good night.

Lovely little pub close to the harbour Has four different meals here over four nights all where very good and reasonably priced good choice on menu too ! Service was very friendly and quick plus the beer and lager where nice and not too expensive

Found this place a few years ago and always come back to it every time we're in Porthmadog. The food is superb, Sunday lunch is amazing, the landlady and staff are just so friendly and helpful, well worth a visit for food or just a beer.

Wow ! Simply wow ! Seriously read on if you want a tasty, wholesome, homemade and fabulous meal in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere! We’ve paid a LOT MORE for meals and not been as happy as dining here! Great home-cooked, tasty fooder and plentiful plate of grub! Honestly, food (and team!) here beats everywhere locally hands-down! Highly recommended and encouraged 150%! You will NOT BE disappointed! Bridgette and the team aim to please and they sure do that! Wonderful place to choose to dine! Xx

There's always a warm welcome at the Ship, and Bridget could not do more for us. We had a lovely meal, with a huge thumbs up for the ribeye steak. The meal came with all the trimmings and everything was cooked perfectly. Thank you so much for making it a lovely evening

We were recommended to try this venue. The long and the short, not overly impressed. We ordered one of the loaded burgers and the chilli. The order took 50 minutes to get to us after I asked if we had been forgotten due to a big order in the next room. They could have been more proactive and let us know about the long delay. The burger was okay, but the one I had 2 nights previous in The Australia pub was better quality, in my opinion. The chilli was a nice flavour but a bit sparse of meat. Maybe we just had a bad midweek experience but won't be returning.

Rang to book a table and for a birthday a couple of weeks ago and they said weren't taking reservations, just turn up. We turned up and said they were fully booked and I could see two tables with reserved signs on them. Staff were really rude and unhelpful. Shame. It used to be really good. They missed out on a booking for seven that night and in the future.

Probably one of the best kept pubs i’ve been to, great selection of pints, madri, neck oil and this cruzcampo. Staff are super welcoming, support this pub when coming to Porth!

Had the curry with rice and chips and was really enjoyable, service was good and the pub has a great friendly atmosphere.

Waste of time. Went here on a Monday when asked if there was a table a rude guy behind the bar mumbled to sit there. Asked if they don’t gluten free and he went to check, came back with a menu for us all and said there was limited options as it was a Monday would of been nice to know this either online or on the door otherwise wouldn’t of wasted our time. Was told that had to order drinks at the bar and someone would come and take your food order. Well let’s say THE STAFF DONR TALK TO YOU IF ONLY FOR THEIR AREAS!!! Seemed pretty ridiculous. Wasn’t told there was a delay for food and waited an hour to be given what looked to be pre microwaved food that I would get at a cafe. For a one course meal for four people and one drink each costed us more money then at a different pub that we had two courses. Don’t bother going there.
