Given the slope of the garden, and drinks food etc. having to be brought to the table (COVID rules) - the staff really must be very fit. Service good. Simple pub menu, and pub grub - but the fish and chips were amazing.

We visited this lovely pub after a very wet walk along the coast. We received a warm welcome (3 soggy humans, 2 soggy dogs). Food was excellent, lovely homely surroundings and Cornish hospitality. To top it all, the lady behind the bar heard of our plans for our soggy walk back to retrieve our car, she contacted a local chap who came to the pub and gave my husband a lift to collect our car, saving us a wet walk back. How kind is that? If you’re in the area go visit, you won’t be disappointed. Fab.

The four of us visited for lunch after a long coastal walk with our two dogs. Warm welcome from landlady and locals. Good beer (only Tribute on handpump). Good range of gins. We ordered toasted sandwiches and chips and after a short wait were served hot, tasty and filling food. In fact we struggled to finish it as the sandwiches were well filled and accompanied by a side salad. The chips were too delicious to leave!

We visited on a damp Easter Sunday having prebooked a table. The pub was busy with both diners and drinkers giving the bar a good ambience. The roast beef was first class. Tasty with a delicious gravy and fab roast spuds. For me a green veg such as broccoli would have improved the visual appeal but that is a minor observation. Treacle tart and custard for dessert was nothing special but perfectly ok. I have given the pub a 'good' rating for two reasons. The food service and welcome could have been a bit friendlier. Smiles cost nothing. But my main issue is why on earth the landlord felt it necessary to have the tv on and showing a Carry On film. It did nothing for the atmosphere. I can understand having it on for a big sporting event but just for the sake of it seemed pointless.

Lovely atmosphere. Typical Cornish Pub by the sea. Have eaten here twice before and it was great. This time sadly main course not so good. Custard still great though!!!v

Our guests from central London thought they had died and gone to heaven. The St Austell beer is very well kept; food is attractively presented, plentiful and tasty; the staff are as helpful and as friendly as you will find anywhere in the county..... Pubs of this size and quality are becoming rare so if you are staying in the area or passing through the beautiful village of Portloe, give it a try.

We were staying near here so gave it a go. The food was nice enough but the service was indifferent and not particularly friendly. Don't know if we would bother agan.

Stopped for lunch at this pub near the lovely harbour of Portloe. Sat in the sunshine in the beer garden and had delicious Crab Pasta and Ham sandwiches plus two drinks for under £20. Inside of pub has a roaring fire and is very comfy. Cloakrooms spotless. Very welcoming staff will be returning well worth a visit!

The staff were very friendly. The hot drinks were alright and the cakes were alright. They didn't rush us. The whole atmosphere was really nice and lovely. I didn't have to raise my voice to speak to my boyfriend who has a hearing impairment which is a hearing aid.

On holiday for a week and we visited 3 times. First time was for a drink only, second for an evening meal and thenthirdnfir Sunday lunch. On all occasions, service was friendly, attentive (without being in your face or false) and courteous. Our evening meal was a beautiful piece of grilled haddock in a very tasty sauce with vegetables and potatoes. We also ordered a side of truffled mac n cheese. It was absolutely amazing. Sunday lunch was probably the best I've ever eaten as a pub dining experience and I've eaten a fair few in my 59 years. We opted for the 3 meat version of beef, pork and turkey. The vegetable selection was interesting and perfectly cooked. The giant yorkshire pudding was delicious but for me, the roast potatoes and gravy were the jewels in the very large crown. There was no room for pudding but on our evening visit, we did share the amaretto chocolate torte, which was fantastic 😀. For the quality and portion sizes, I would say The Pityme Inn is excellent value for money.

I found the staff not that friendly and helpful to be honest , you could tell who were local and who were visitors to the area , my self being a visitor. I’m a great lover of costa but probably will not come to this one again
