Booked in for an evening meal. Menu is smaller than previous visits but service was prompt and food was tasty. Menu on facebook is an old one

Came for roast .lovely food if only not lukewarm. Should have mentioned at the time but was hungry Beef undercooked for my liking

Friendly and welcoming staff for us and our 1 year old. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, as were the drinks. A lovely atmosphere for a quiet, family meal.

When you walk into a pub and get a lovely welcome from a smiling helpful member of staff on a damp wet day it cheers you up , we found our short visit memorable and will return soon.

Everything about our dinner at the Ship Inn was excellent. From the welcome we received when we came in, the offer of a taste of the local beer before we ordered two pints, the tasty cheesy nachos, to the two Japanese-style main courses (chicken and salmon), all of which were served most efficiently and in a friendly manner. A lovely evening.

Visited in half term with grandparents beginning of the week. Booked a table and sat in the window of bar area. Comfy seating. Ordered food and was delivered promptly. Freshly made and really tasty. Will return

The venue is good and it is well situated. However, the food was extremely disappointing. The Sunday roast was served cool, beef was grisly and the roast potatoes were hard and dried out on the outside. Chips were full of grease with little potato left and the eggs undercooked, even on return to kitchen in the ham, egg and chips. The cauliflower cheese lacked cheese sauce. The Brie in the breadcrumbs had clearly leaked out thus very empty inside. The manager was unapologetic and in denial which is a shame as we were a large group who will sadly not return.

Booked 21 of us in for a Sunday lunchtime paid £5 deposit each on booking manager was very polite and the meals started rolling out just about warm roast potatoes very hard like they had been pre cooked beef was rare but very tough we did mention our concerns but he didn't seem bothered we paid bill in full but would not be revisiting

Really friendly staff who accommodated us just before kitchen closing. : food was maximum in quality and quantity; we chose chilli concarne, smoked haddock & mozzarella fishcakes, hunters chicken - with rustic chips , all were delicious . 4 stars not 5 only because it was more a restaurant than pub vibe than you’d expect from the outside.

Haven't been to The Ship for a while but previously had great meals here. We ordered three roast dinners, 2 beef and 1 mixed. Service was very slow, 30 min wait for anyone to take our order, then another 30 min wait for drinks. Food looked lovely but sadly once we started eating we realised the beef was cold and the veg just warm. I lifted up my red cabbage and found a chicken bone - slightly confusing when I ordered beef. Very disappointed - will not return again.

Went here for lunch with husband and 5yr old. Had a Hallumi burger and husband had chicken burger. Real highlights were the chips! REALLY good- feel like these might be the best chips I’ve ever eaten, They are skin on and cut in a special way so the entire chip is perfectly crispy. Going to try replicating them at home. Also the waiter was fantastic -brought a great energy to the room- he even bargained successfully with my daughter to eat more main before her icecream. Husband was very pleased with the local beers.

Looking for somewhere to eat on a January evening - we were delighted with the professional reception and hospitality received from all staff Very knowledgeable about the menu and gin!! We had the best steaks ever, cooked to our requirements and the gorgeous presentation was a feast for the eyes Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant as the menu caters for all If ever visit Swanage again, will definitely return here.

Called in on a visit to Swanage with friends for lunch. Friendly welcome and shown to a nice table in the window with nice views. Drinks order taken by a lovely waiter who when asked told us a bit about the history of the pub. As we were decided on our food he took our order and returned with the drinks. A reasonable wait to allow us to chat and then food arrived. Food was really nicely presented, plentiful and well cooked. A lovely pub lunch. We were not pestered or hurried and enjoyed a really meal and nice time in the warm comfortable Ship pub.

Superb Sunday roast. Beef was cooked to perfection, big portion and a great selection of veg. Cauliflower cheese was exceptional (it’s an optional add on, don’t hesitate!)
