The Sheringham Trawler in North Norfolk

Extremely welcoming and professional, friendly staff who helped with baby needs and celebration extras we'd brought. Only place in Norfolk I've found that fries in beef dripping, if you want the taste of Yorkshire fish and chips, it's here.

As we all know, if prepared and cooked well, fish&chips can be superb. So if you want a superb meal at a very reasonable price then I’d highly recommend this place as they really are excellent. Staff couldn’t do enough to help either. My advice would be to sit down and have them rather than takeaway and have at their best.

Fabulous fish and chips, have been here many many times to eat in and it's consistently good. My Dad sometimes comes on his own and it's a nice atmosphere where you would feel comfortable. They also do great gluten-free fish and chips.

Mid week fish & chip lunch time family meal 3 of us plus two dogs. Great quality fish, not the usual over cooked dry fish often found in chip shops. Fresh and moist. Dog friendly was the reason we decided to eat here. Was not disappointed. Will return.

A very nice Dog friendly restaurant with extremely attentive staff. The food is absolutely fantastic and cooked the way it should be. A proper Chippy. The staff ensured that we and our dog were comfortable and offered a treat to our dog and a little extra sausage as well, so no complaints from the dog!! Witnessed a very thorough cleaning of tables post customer attendance so very hygienic and caring for all.

I've eaten at the Trawler 3 times now, and I thoroughly enjoyed it each time. Before eating there I'd had no idea that fish and chips had been traditionally deep-fried in beef dripping. I love the smell of the dripping when you walk in the shop! The food is never too oily, the chips are quite generous, and the fish, no matter whether it is "large" or "regular" is a big size. The fact that they also offer pensioners a set deal on the menu is also great, as in the case of my parents. They also enjoyed it and one struggled to finish everything on her plate! Definitely one of the best fish and chip places in England!

I booked the Sheringham Trawler for a Fish & Chip lunch for 9 people to celebrate my mum’s 80th birthday. Upon arriving after a short but cold walk from the steam train journey we were warmly welcomed by the owner. My mum was delighted to see that the staff had put up banners, an 80th balloon and placed roses on the table for her. Food orders were placed and in no time the food arrived looking fresh and piping hot. I can only say that we all agreed it was by far the best Fish & Chips we’d have for a long time, it really was spot on! All the extras were great too. After the meal they surprised her with a lovely birthday cake. I hadn’t asked them to do any of this and they didn’t charge us a penny for it. Finally, the staff were all friendly (sung happy birthday). The place was spotlessly clean, and all for just over £100. I’ve never had such great value for money, hence my desire to write my review. A chipper with an eat-in area that is dog friendly - brilliant. I chose scampi and chips - very tasty (pics of menu attached - good value over 60’s special available). My dog had a sausage to take-away - no need to say that she enjoyed it! Good to see locals both eating in and ordering takeaways, supporting a local business. Nice and clean and the service was good.

Wow! This is the best chip shop in Sheringham! The chips are cooked in beef dripping rather than palm oil so they taste amazing. Thank you Mr Chippy for providing the best chip shop dinner we have had for years 😃

We came to Sheringham for the day for my birthday and I wanted fish and chips for dinner on the beach so we decided to give the Sheringham Trawler a go after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. We were not disappointed, the fish and chips were really tasty and so fresh. I wanted rock and chips and I got to choose which piece of rock I would like! The staff were really friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to go back!

Great fish and chips here. They looked a little bit under cooked, but tasted spot on. Dog friendly inside too which is a bonus!

Busy fish and chip restaurant and take away. We got seated due to a no show of a booking. Staff excellent and friendly. We had Rock and chips, mushy peas and a cup of tea. Super fresh Rock, well cooked. Perfect batter. Excellent chips. All in all super yummy.

I love coming here for Gluten free fish and chips, it's always busy but the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is so inviting and themed really well. Would highly recommend to everyone

Yesterday we went as a family to the Sheringham Trawler for lunch. I have eaten literally hundreds of portions of fish & chips from all around Great Britain & Europe & I can honestly say the food from here is possibly the best f & c we have had. I had the over 60's special f & c, mushy peas,curry, beans or gravy £ 10. I added 2 pineapple fritters at £1-50 each. Very clean & the staff were friendly & the place is dog friendly 10/10.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. It was amazing. It's cooked in beef dripping just as fish and chips should be. Keep what you're doing as you do it so, so we'll.

Being o a ps who regularly visit resident friends in Sheringham, this is our ' must go to' fish 'n chip resturant. Excellent value for OAP lunch+mushy peas+mug of super tea all for £10, value and quality of food and service cannot be beaten, keep up the good work and we will visit as often as we can.

Service was 10/10 on Sunday. Very attentive lady who served us and made sure we had everything we wanted. Including brown sauce. Unfortunately there were no clear signs if you want to eat In the restaurant you order at the table. We ordered and sat down and were politely told to move. Unfortunately we both went to that restaurant to sit down! Wasn't clearly signed. There should be signs at the order point. If there were I didn't see them. Fish chips and curry sauce was really good. Unfortunately the battered burger was so greasy it was inedible. The batter was extremely soggy. . . Would I go back?. . . YES. Friendly service is rare to find

Had a large cod n chips to share with mr wife so wasn’t too expensive that way they even provided an extra plate . Fried in Beef Dripping so taste was really nice and not greasy Very hot as freshly fried to order. Plenty of seats with enough staff probably longer waiting when really busy inside

A walk down to Sheringham from Sheringham Park ona sunny Sunday afternoon and what could be better than fish and chips before the walk back. Our lady server (partner of co-owner) was chatty and full of life;- really great to chat. The fish was flakey and very tasty, chips good and how can you fail with mushy peas!! Brilliant and highly recommend. Thank you!

We went there for lunch, 1 of us had large cod and chips and a pickle, and the other had large Haddock and chips and mushy peas both were very nice and they cook the fish and chips in beef dripping this of course made it taste really really nice 😋 The service was second to none when we went it was busy, but the serving staff told us to come back in 20 mins and there would be a table reserved for us. The atmosphere of the place was good as well playing really good music ( in my opinion) on the whole I would highly recommend this place 👌

Fish and chips very good ,staff were very unorganised, we had a long wait for our food and noticed people coming in after us were getting served in front of us ,had to get up and go and ask if someone would come and take our order ,she was very sorry ,so took the order and we waited and waited nothing came ,noticed drinks were being taken to other tables but not ours ,had to call someone over again and say could we have our tea's while waiting for our food ,eventually tea's arrived.Nice food spoilt by the service .

Was a handy fish and chip stop.

Stopped off in Sheringham on a rare Sunday off from work and looked for somewhere to sit and eat. I had medium chips, plain burger in a bun and gravy. It came to £9.90 which is about £2 cheaper than my usual chippy. Sadly when it arrived to the table I found out why. The burger was very low quality patty, deep fried by the taste. Not the worst burger I have had but still not good. The medium chips were nice but way too small and there was a lot of tiny crunchy ones among them.... I maybhave just got the last of that batch though. The staff were friendly, the actual place was comfy to sit in and eat. This would be a solid 3 stars..."it's ok" but it loses a star due to the fact they have a minimum card order price of £20. In this day and age not many carry cash, and £20 is high for a chippy. My colleague luckily had cash so we sorted it out.... bit honestly I wish we had tried somewhere else.

Superb. The food was cooked to perfection, not oily or dry. I recommend the Rock Salmon.

Not for vegetarians or vegans as everything is cooked in beef dripping! Even the veggie burger, What genius thought of that? Anyway the service was good but the place was empty.. Food was average. Also £20 minimum on card? What a joke.

We had a takeaway from here and have to say, it was lovely. The fish was brilliant white and nice and flakey. The batter was light and crispy. The chips were really nice too. Definitely recommend them and will be visiting next time we are in that part of the country.

Went in for takeaway half an hour before closing. Yes to gluten free, no fuss, great fish and chips. One happy gluten free customer. Thoroughly recommend this place.

Oh dear! Called in for some takeaway chips expecting golden, crispy fries although he cooked them while we waited- we were presented with a very sad (very small amount for ‘medium’ portion - probably 20 chips!) congealed and soggy - very poor! (and expensive) we won’t be returning 2/10 the little girl serving was lovely however.

Both a takeaway and eat-in fish and chips shop. Table service in the restaurant part, decent size fish and plenty of chips. Food was cooked to order and took a few minutes but was worth waiting for. Menu is fairly limited, but everything you would expect from a chippy. Limited drinks only tea and soft drinks as far as I could see. If you like your chippy tea served to you seated at a table with a mug of tea you're all set.

Card machine wasn't working so it was cash only. Not a problem. Had the pensioner meal deal. Fish and chips I had mushy peas, plus a mug of tea. All for £10. Excellent value.

Went on a Saturday and they were very busy, they soon found a place for us and all the young waitresses were very kind and polite. Our food was lovely the fish was great, my wife is gluten free and loved her fish too. Will definitely go again .

Good value great fish and chips!

Arrived towards the end of service on Sunday (they close at 7pm). Very friendly staff, cooked to order (fresh cod/haddock). Dogs are welcome, they gave our Charlie a treat, which he snaffled up. 🐶 It looks like kind of out dated from the outside, but we took a gamble & it paid off. Lovely bubbles on the beer batter Cod, nice & crisp, golden as it should be, with big chunks of flaky Cod fillet. Lashings of salt & vinegar, thick fresh cut chips topped off with mushy peas. Delicious, highly recommend 👌4.7/5

My god. without a doubt the best fish and chips I've had in a really long time. I'm talking beautifully cooked fish, chips with just the right crunch, best mushy peas I've had. I don't give praise lightly, so you know I mean it! Anyone in the area absolutely has to eat here

Today, along with 3 friends, had tea here ( one cod & chips, 1 plaice & chips, 1 cod & cheesey chips + mushy peas and 1 burger, cheesey chips + curry sauce). All were of excellent quality, well cooked and generous portions. Would recommend this place.

Very friendly honest service. Can't say much about the environment and atmosphere as I have never eaten in but looks clean and a lot nicer than your average chip shop, definitely has a family friendly fin vibe to it. You can definitely tell this is a passion of generations with traditionally cooked seaside sausages and chips cooked the right way.

Unfortunately, we turned up when the restaurant side was closed but still managed to get a takeaway. Fish and chips were lovely, certainly worth a visit. Could rate the atmosphere as takeaway Hence, it is not starred on atmosphere.

Oh dear another 😕 expensive Yarmouth priced chippy with horrible 😢 disgusting 🫣 fish and chips that make feel ill just avoid this place and pop up to SEAFARE up the road as Peggs are best!

Came here for dinner. The food was hot and delicious. Fantastic service. It’s my dad’s birthday today the staff went out of their way to buy a cake and provide us all with a cup of tea. Lights were turned off and staff brought a cake with candles out for my dad. Very thoughtful and kind of you all. Thank you for making my dad happy. We all appreciate what you did. Thank you so much from us all for a wonderful meal, tea and cake. Friendly and polite staff. We will be back again. We have been coming for years. The best fish and chips in sheringham.

Crispy fish n chip family meal on a cold Monday trip to Sheringham. Loved the lightly battered fish. Big table and well spaced from other diners. Food hot. Service excellent. Overs 60s special good value for an adequate portion.

Was ok, good service,good food, fair pricing, would have been 5* but the piece of fish I had was very small and thin not much fish all skin and batter. The other meals were good though. Dog friendly.

Had eaten here years before with Nan returned for nostalgic reasons. Yet again amazed by the quality of the cod and chips . Only downside card machine went down so had to seek cash point
