First time at this establishment, went for breakfast. Very nice interior which was very welcoming. The server/front of house was friendly, courtes and efficient. Breakfast was good and overall was good value, though a few more beans would be nice as I thought the portion was small but appreciate that can be personal preference. We would definitely re visit this pub and would recommend it to family and friends.

Hats off to the chef/chefs this is our 4th time visiting the shepard and dog and we literally cannot fault anything at all. The food is absolutely beautiful we have loved every single meal we've had. Also would like to say your waiting staff are smashing especially Amy I think she said her name was. We have been welcomed by her on a few occasions when we have been and she honestly is so polite and so helpful nothings ever to much. Like I said in my review back in October after our first visit 10/10 for us on evething. We've been back 5 times since then we absolutely love the place hats off to you all for making the shepard and dog such an amazing place to visit. See you on our next visit. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fresh home made food loved all we Ate. Erin and Lou who served us were fantastic very friendly and polite However what upset me was that I asked for mushrooms to be added to my pasta and was told no. Our server was lovely about it but it was the kitchen that refused !!!! That’s a first for me and we eat put alot. Thats has put me off coming back sadly

The best Sunday roasts we've had anywhere. Generous helpings of good quality locally sourced products. Amazing bread and butter pudding! Lovely warm welcome and attentive service by Molly. We will be back!

We ate here for Mother’s Day, amazing food and service. One of the best Sunday dinners in the area and the staff are always so lovely. Highly recommend this pub!

Super lunch had with friends. I always try to eat healthy and I was able to do this at the shepherd and dog from their menu. All their food is cooked fresh by their experience chef and they will assist anyone who has specific requirements. It’s also great for Sunday lunches, but be aware you’ll need to book a table as they are very popular

Last night my family (14) celebrated a 70,40 & 18th birthdays so it was special event. Thank you Molly & Betty and the rest of the staff for really outstanding food and service. You made it a wonderful family get together and made special memories. GIVE THIS PUB A TRY. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Sunday lunch with the family to celebrate a birthday. Our first visit to the Shepherd and Dog and certainly not our last. Service was excellent and the place was busy. Food was first class - a great traditional Sunday roast and plenty of alternatives if that's not your thing. I liked the smaller roasts for kids - don't see that too often - and again plenty of alternatives for them as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back.

Having read so many fantastic reviews, our visit was very disappointing. To start, our waitress was rather brusque, although her humour did seem to improve slightly as time went by. We waited some time for our food order to arrive and when it did there were several items missing which we had to ask for. We weren't asked if we wanted any sauces, so again had to ask for those. Each time we had to get someone's attention, which wasn't always easy. On the plus side the food was good. One of our party asked for another drink which never turned up. The final let down was the children's desserts. Our granddaughter wanted a strawberry sundae from the children's menu. Eventually the waiter appeared with what looked like some chocolate concoction, when we said we had asked for a childrens strawberry sundae he said he would go back and check. He then returned with a bowl of vanilla ice cream with a strawberry on the side and chocolate sauce on top. Our granddaughter doesn't like chocolate sauce and when we said this didn't look much like a strawberry sundae, we were told that it was, so we sent it back and it was taken off the bill, but nothing else was offered, which was a shame because it was our granddaughters birthday and she ended up with nothing. Unfortunately this experience has put us all off using the S&D in future.

We had a lovely fresh baked loaf of garlic bread to share for a starter. Wife loved it. She then had the lamb cutlets, which she said were delicious. I had ribeye steak and chips. Steak was a little dry but still very nice and correctly cooked. A bearnaise sauce would have been a nice option but that's just personal choice, they did have other sauces available. Service by Tyler was excellent, helpful, cheerful and attentive. She even convinced me I'd like the sticky toffee pudding even though it had dates in it. We shared one, well my wife ate most of it, but Tyler was right, it was lovely. We will be back thoroughly recommend. One small thought, may be if people haven't turned up for reserved tables in the bar by 730pm, take the reserved signs off. It's a bit unwelcoming turning up to a bar where all the tables are reserved. Bar staff were great and said we could grab a table anyway. It's a small point in what is a lovely place.

We were impressed by the welcoming, friendly staff when we entered. We ordered lamb cutlets and salmon fillet. Both meals were excellent. The vegetable accompaniments were generous and cooked well. We couldn't fault our first visit to this lovely eatery and will definitely be returning to sample more of the varied menu.

We went to The Shepherd & Dog for a belated birthday lunch with friends and it was my first visit. It is a beautiful traditional pub, with a lovely garden to enjoy in the summer. The bar area (which is dog friendly) is tastefully decorated in a traditional and warm style and the conservatory, where we had lunch, looked really festive and welcoming. The menu offers some traditional pub food with a modern twist, a set lunch menu mid week and a Specials menu, all of which looks mouth watering. There is also a good selection of Thai dishes, which was a lovely surprise. It was a stunning meal, served with a friendly smile in a most charming venue. We'll definitely be back, not just mid week but also for the promising Sunday lunch!

We booked this cosy restaurant for a 60th birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We were a large group (16) but Lou and the girls couldn't have been more accommodating for us! They were fabulous, we didn't feel rushed out, the food was absolutely incredible, both in taste and presentation. There were so many gluten free options which I think is what sets this restaurant apart from many others. They made a fuss of the birthday girl which was lovely :) Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough, we will definitely be back!

We held a surprise party in the marquee on Saturday at the Shepherd & Dog. Molly & Rebecca were so helpful in the lead up to the event and were very accommodating and helpful in all aspects of planning. When we arrived during the day to leave items ready for the evening, everyone was so helpful & polite, nothing was too much trouble. The bar staff on the evening were absolutely amazing. Everyone commented on how amazing the food was to and there was plenty to go round. We would highly recommend this venue for both food and events. Unfortunately felt extremely ripped off. Ordered the meat platter for £19.95. Two meats were not even included (chorizo and pepperoni). Three types of basic processed meats chucked on a plate with 5 dry breadsticks and not even a dipping sauce. Not even a piece of fresh bread. Very disappointed. A greedy profit making approach. Worst meal ever had. Waitress friendly only good thing to say. Fosters was flat too.

Amazing place! As a group of 20 we turned up only to find out someone in our party had accidentally booked the wrong pub, and without any booking the fabulous staff managed to accommodate us. Food was really good and we all enjoyed. The waiting staff were very attentive with regular checks on our drinks and even lollies for the children. The pub is lovely with a nice sized garden and room for kids to run around.

We are a small group of ‘Ladies That Lunch’. We meet at the end of each month to either just have a catch up or celebrate one of our birthday’s. Today it was Rose’s birthday celebrations and she chose the Shepherd & Dog as our venue. We are so glad she did, from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the lovely staff. The menu was good and suited everyone’s needs from warming fish pie, to a pub staple of Ham, Egg and Chips to the more exotic of Masaman curry or Raman Bowl. All finished off with a hot drink and a mini pud, which after our delicious meal was just enough, anything more would have spoilt our lunch experience. Not only was it great food but the prices were very reasonable and didn’t break the bank, service charge was included but we didn’t mind paying it as food, ambiance and service was brilliant and warranted it. Thank you to the kitchen and front of house team for making this a delightful lunch.

After much longing after reading rave reviews, we booked here for Mother's birthday for a Sunday lunch. Service was rather slow considering it was quite empty inside the pub, but the England vs Spain world cup was being shown in the garden which could contribute. Our server was pleasant enough and helpful. We ordered a selection of starters which were well received (though quite a wait, another table were sat, ordered and served their main while we waited for them to come out). These were the highlight of the meal and rather tasty. Another delayed wait for our main to come out. No worries, we thought, this place has such wonderful reviews it's got to be worth the wait. The presentation was undeniable lovely - we all ordered a roast with a small selection of sides. Sadly, that's where the pleasantries stopped, or certainly gained very mixed opinion. Our server checked down us less than 2 minutes after we had our plates delivered so had tried such a little amount we had no complaints. The vegetables were al dente, and lacking in portions size. Half a carrot, half a crunchy parsnip, a virtually raw tenderstem broccoli and some spring greens. The potatoes were disappointing and tasted as though cooked in a deep fryer which needed cleaning. Portions of beef (tasteless) and lamb (very tough) were good if not slightly bland, but the pork (quite nice) was tiny and enough to feed a small child at best. We had sides of crackling which was either spot on or inedible, but the cauliflower cheese was tasty. Condiments were dishes up for us. Despite the large amount of food left on plates, we were not asked about the food and did not want to be seen as people who just complained. A previously unmentioned service charge was added to the bill, which was un-queried as the waiter service was attentive. Unfortunately, despite rave reviews from others, we did not find the same experience and will chalk it up to a one-time experience.

Had a fabulous evening celebrating our friends birthday. It was my first visit here but I had heard really good reviews about it from our friends. They were spot on! The service is outstanding, very friendly and efficient especially considering the pub was packed out and they had an event going on outside too! The food was delicious although the lamb was served a little too pink for my liking however this wasn’t a problem at all it was taken away without any fuss and I received it back to my liking! Unfortunately it’s not on our doorstep otherwise I’d certainly become a regular there! I will however return especially to try the Sunday roast! Can’t recommend the Shepherd and Dog highly enough.
