The Beehive in Basildon

Went for an early dinner Friday 3rd May. Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and drinks, and the service as well. Food prices very reasonable as well. Well done everyone involved. We were very impressed and will be back soon.

they must have changed the chef Here,use to eat regular as the food was spot on,but recently the last 3 visits there was nothing what we picked on the menu,the food was overcooked,and today with 3 friends we all got our meals at different times,very disappointed with a venue we use to enjoy our food and meeting,all good things come to an end,the staff are brilliant

Good inside or outside.Back selling London Pride at £3.50.Food available too.Most comfortable pub in town.A must to visit.

Our first visit and meal there, very pleasant atmosphere, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good and at a very good price. Only thing to be aware of is the kitchen is not open on a Friday or Saturday night. We shall return.

Like a slightly average weatherspoons. Beer always o.k, typical pub food menu. As seems to be the norm you need to push through the smokers to get to the entrance. The main let down is the men's toilets, these were possibly cleaned some time in the previous decade. They have a unique smell of their own, which is beyond description. But as it's one of the only pubs in the town centre, I have to suffer it.

Food was amazing, drinks was cheap and the loft crew was so helpful with my party later on that evening 10/10

I had a really bad experience at the beehive that I feel I need to share. My wife and I faced unfriendly and discriminatory treatment from the security staff during our visit. Even though the place was busy, a security person wouldn't let my pregnant wife use the restroom. They used rude language and even got another staff member involved, causing unnecessary trouble outside. To make matters worse, two other security guys followed us, making nasty comments and threats. This kind of behavior is just not on, and it reflects badly on the pub. I hope the managers do something about it to make sure everyone feels welcome. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I can't recommend the beehive.

Come most weekends. Staff are very friendly Katie in particular Is always very welcoming and fast when it comes to serving would definitely recommend coming in when she's on shift !

I basically live at this pub when I'm not at home or shopping or put doing other things, the staff are always so friendly and the vibes are high. Shazza is amazing and always so kind and up for a laugh. Agree with the previous review, every pub needs a Shazza!

Popped in for a bite to eat and tried the bacon cheeseburger which was actually pretty darn tasty! Everything was cooked well and tasted delish! The service was good too Shazza the bar tender was quick and polite I definitely recommend this place for a good bite and friendly atmosphere

Great service as always. We were served by the super friendly and funny Sharon who made us feel welcome and was very polite and informative when we had questions about the menu - banter was on point, pints were fresh and food was delicious 🤤

I was given a food delivery from here where it is called "88th Street Burger Bar". There is no free parking for food delivery drivers and the nearest free parking is a long walk away. With the low amount getting paid for food deliveries, I would be losing money if I was to pay for paid parking. I still arrived on time and when I arrived I was told it would be a 5 minute wait. There is nowhere for drivers to sit and wait and no where to stand either without getting in the way and having to constantly move for staff to get access. Another driver there also had a long wait. It would not be so bad if they had somewhere for delivery drivers to sit and wait out of the way. It actually took 25 minutes until I was given the delivery in the end, where I was given no updates until I had waited 20 minutes and then managed to flag down a member of staff to make sure everything was ok and it was still coming. I could be wrong, but it seems like they can't cope with the demand for food ordered by present customers as well as deliveries. With demand being busy during a peak time I expect I missed out on another order elsewhere due to the excessive wait time here. The music was really loud which made it difficult to talk to staff and understand them, along with customers shouting at each other over the loud music to try to hear each other, making the long wait uncomfortable.

Slow service and over cooked steak. I'm amazed by the good reviews lol. I won't be back.

My partner and I came on Saturday 14th October to listen to a D J & have a couple of drinks - we were stopped at the door by a lady who said My partner was not allowed in as he had jogging bottoms on - we have never heard this before- there was someone with thigh high boots on which apparently was acceptable - luckily we went to the Orleto lounge where we were welcomed to have a drink- cannot believe this happened in Basildon where there is not that many pubs open now !!!!!

Drug tested a minor for blowing their nose and staff were extremely rude and felt unwelcoming and offered no aplogies.

What a charming wonderful place, went for drinks with family and had a fantastic time. Jamie had wonderful customer service. definitely worth a visit

This is a nice pub run by a very helpful friendly couple. It wasn't packed and my party of 6 were able to find a nice table in the corner by one of the large windows. It also has a nice outside area for those days when you don't want to sit inside. There is a good selection of beers and spirits.

Great fun night, it's nice to feel safe out in Basildon. The bar team were great and Sarah the manager was lovely as it was a birthday in the group!

Appalling customer service in loft by the bartender Luke, very rude and shouting at me for no reason. Thankfully a tall red head male stepped to calm the situation. I have always found the staff in loft friendly but on this occasion no.

Given drink in dirty glass. When asked for clean glass. Woman poured the drink into the other glass and gave it to me and stated that the grub on the glass was part of the glass... I explained I did not want the drink. The employees manager eventually refunded the drink. Was with party of 4. Would not go back after the service given.

Unfortunately the lack of healthy competition promotes complacency, authoritarian, chauvinistic behavior and narrow-mindedness. How can you have people in charge of security put women into dangerous situations? I came out of the Beehive to briefly speak to my husband leaving 2 of my girlfriends to finish their drinks. Upon my return I was advised by security that I wasn't allowed in as it was past 23:45. I explained to security that I just wanted to get my friends to come out as the pub was soon closing anyway. I was told "no". I called and messaged my friends but they didn't reply as it was too loud in the pub and they didn't hear me calling. My husband drove off home earlier as I didn't need him to pick us up, planning to go to the Loft next door. I found myself in a stressful situation when masses of intoxicated, lairy people started to come out of the pub but I wasn't allowed to reunite with my friends and I started to feel uneasy. I asked the bouncer who refused me entry if they could be so kind to get my girlfriends. I described them, pointed them out and explained that they haven't read my messages so they are not aware of me not being allowed back in but the bouncer refused to let me in or go get my friends. At this stage I decided that the situation was ludacris and I walked in to get my friends. We left before the pub was due to close and gone to the Loft where I was refused entry for "causing disturbance". The bouncer - a white, bald, podged bellied, beady eyed, tired looking, middle aged man who refused to provide me with his name but I trust my description will bring a face to mind, communicated to security at the Loft that I was to be denied entry. This is the most bizarre situation I have found myself in my 35 years. I was not drunk, not causing a scene nor being loud. I can only think that a small town mentality has influenced this behavior. I understand that rules are rules, however, discretion and common sense should be used in certain situations. If a reader has a woman or a vulnerable person in their life imagine an authoritarian figure cutting off that person's security system for the sake of a blanket approach rule. It makes no sense! And then imagine further power trip - hell bent on ruining the experience even outside said establishment. This behavior wouldn't last if people had elsewhere to go but for now Beehive security can do whatever they please as this is the main watering hole in Basildon. I just hope karma will find a way to repay the man with no brain.

Came in for a drink while on leave from the forces; was served by Ellie. Honestly was having a down day but her smile and taking the time to speak to me; asked how my day was etc. Ended up having a good chin wag and a laugh! She can really pour a damn good pint! I come down from Newcastle for my sister wedding that takes place Saturday, myself and my brothers come here Friday evening for a few drinks and food,I would definitely recommend this place. It’s just a shame we haven’t got this up north, Atmosphere was buzzing,the staff were very polite, and the burgers were amazing. I would like to say a thanks to Matt who helped us with our order and drinks, top man If you ever go to Basildon check this out

We had our family from Australia and Canada visiting, so we made the Beehive the place to meet up. Some family members had to come straight from work, wearing work clothes . We had our 11 Yr old Grandson with us too. Everyone ordered food and drinks. We were sitting outside as it was a lovely day. It was great to all be together. Suddenly, that all changed. A member of our family was approached by security as told to leave the premises as he had work clothes on, and I was told to leave as our grandson was no longer allowed to be there after 7 pm! This ruined the night. We weren't even allowed to finish drinks. 😡 I couldn't see any notice that showed there was a dress code. I now know it states online children are allowed in the pub up till 7 pm but couldn't see any rules about them being outside after 7 pm? We asked if we could at least finish our drinks but told no had to go immediately. My brother in law had to also leave as he had work shorts on with paint on them! As a family, we were all upset and very disappointed. It's a pub opposite a train station so people from work will pop in to drink. It's not a posh pub or restaurant, so why a dress code! We will find a different place to meet next time. We as a family won't go back in there and spend another penny! So upset.

Had a great time, it’s a lovely pub and a nice place to have a drink with friends. The bartender was brilliant think her name was kaela but she was great with our group and always smiling.

Great place to go and socialise with friends. Staff were all friendly and helpful, but special mention to Kaela for being so attentive and accommodating during the evening! Will definitely be coming back!
