I only popped in to watch the 6 nations on the big screen Great ale selection and comfortable seating Staff were friendly and welcoming

Great spot on Saturday afternoon for pub grub, few beers and watch the football/rugby.

Nice beer. Very nice staff. Would love to return to try their food.

Says they close at 8 on a Sunday. Went in at 19:16 and was told they were shut. It's one thing or the other. In response: that's not much use when you have walked 20 mins specifically to go there... Put the time alteration on Google.

I had the nicest dinner here recently! The food was great and the staff were even better. They were so helpful and accommodating and made the experience so memorable for us so if you’re lucky enough to get Izzy or Jodie as your waitress, you know you’ll have a good experience!

The best meal i’ve had in a long time. The food was unreal, and service was so lovely and informative. 1000% this place for a lovely Sunday meal!

Dan was expectional great customer service friendly and helpful had a good knowledge of the drinks available was able to provide detailed allergy information when asked about items on the menu, lovely beer garden There was a great atmosphere in the pub lovely menu choice and great customer service we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal which was well presented and delicious would certainly return and recommend

Tuesday 14th January 2025 Tonight, we had a pint of proper job in this well run, well maintained lively real ale pub. There were 3 real ales on the building, which was a great unspoilt Edwardian place. Good atmosphere and polite clientelle. The big issue which caused me to give 4 stars was the pint of real ale was £5.50 which was the dearest pint I had in Birmingham today

Fabulous city centre venue with the cosy feel of a country pub. This is our 3rd visit in the last year. Great friendly staff who are very accommodating. The chef takes the classic pub food menu and produces such tasty grub getting every bit of flavour out of his produce. Our furry friend was very welcome and spoilt with treats from the kitchen. Great selection of drinks to choose from.

Great old pub, a real pub not a gastro pub which was so nice to see. Large selection of gins and good draught ales. Recommend.

Visiting family in Jewellery Quarter and wanted a nice, cosy pub meal just after Christmas. Haven’t been here for almost 20yrs from when it was my local lunchtime spot when working at M&B round the corner! Didn’t really know what to expect but the food was fab! I had sausages and mash and it was the best I have ever tasted, sausages tasted homemade and herby. Hubby had steak and ale pie and he absolutely loved it. Fish pie, veg, beer was all lovely too! Staff friendly too. Definitely recommend, just wish we didn’t live miles away!

Stopped by and had some glasses of beers. A beautiful place.

Best pub in Brum! Lovely interior and a nice, relaxing atmosphere. The bar team are particularly attentive and run around a lot to make sure punters are served as quickly as possible. Good range of alcohol and the food is top notch too. Dog friendly with plenty of treats. An all round top, top boozer. I must say the team are very friendly and welcoming. I have got to know a few of them by name so big shout out to Nathan, Lorna and Tori!

I visited the Shakespeare summer hoe and I felt absolutely compelled to leave a glowing review My experience was fantastic, from the range of drinks to the fantastic food 10/10 all round I was served by Bradley and Nathan and they was both beyond pleasant

Popped in for a spot of lunch today, 17.12.24,and as always the staff were friendly and upbeat. The food was great, and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal here, the Shakespeare is probably my favourite pub in the city centre, so a big up to Nathan and the team ,they do an excellent job .Merry Christmas. I walked into the pub at noon, The lunch rush hums, a busy tune. With cane in hand, I took my seat, Ready for a drink that can't be beat. The menu’s print? A mystery, But Nathan came to rescue me. He grinned and said, “What can I get, A pint or something to cool you off, yet?” I asked for cider, light and sweet, He nodded, “I’ve got just the treat.” He disappeared, then swift as breeze, Returned with the drink that brought me ease. I took a sip, it hit the spot, Not too strong, but just the lot. He asked, “How’s that, is it okay?” I said, “It’s perfect for my day!” I ordered one more, just to try, Nathan didn’t blink an eye. He poured it quick, with perfect care, Like he knew exactly what was there. No need to ask, he’d know it right, He made sure every drink was light. A lunchtime visit, smooth and clear, Nathan’s service is top-tier! So here’s my review, simple and true, Nathan’s drinks will see you through. For lunch or drinks, you can't go wrong, He’s the best—just tag along!

Lovely meal at The Shakespeare Inn. Stopped in last minute on a Sunday evening and they were able to fit us in. Staff were helpful, providing good drinks recommendations. Service was prompt and the pies were amazing! Excellent value for money, a good variety of food options as well as a great selection of drinks. We visited with our two dogs, the staff were accommodating and we were able to sit in a "nook" so the dogs could lie down. Water was provided for the dogs and treats were available too ☺️

Come here regularly, always a good vibe and service is always quick. Nathan is stellar and always makes sure to give service with a smile

Just outside the shopping area so nice pub with a good mix of locals and tourists, while stood at the bar got offered seating by staff in the back room. Didn't realise the place was so big! Great tasty food and very friendly service!

Excellent meet and greet , and we quickly established we needed to order food quickly,. The waitress serving us read nothing short of brilliant. She took a time of our need for departure and everything worked round that. I have to say no we are regular attendees but different names

Everything a classy pub should be

We visited the Shakespeare Inn to celebrate our grandad's 90th birthday, and it was a fantastic experience. The pub had a warm, cosy, and wonderfully Christmassy atmosphere. It was lovely and toasty inside, and Bradley's service was absolutely top-notch—10/10! We were asked to pre-order our food, and everything was perfect with no mistakes. The food was absolutely delicious. Hands down, the best pub in Birmingham!

Been using this pub on various occasions for a few years. Seen it became busier as time passes. Our pre booked table was ready for us, even though the pub was rammed! Ale was top drawer quality, food superb, service brilliant. Love it!!

Great service from Lorna on a very busy Friday evening ,her attentive service enabled us to enjoy a relaxing meal before our concert . Beer was in fine condition ( Nicholson’s Pale ) and the food was excellent quality served very punctually. Thks again to all the staff ,see you all again soon 👍👍.

Always great drinks and service

Full of character, places Sports and dishes up quality food. Good wines and lots of beer to drink in the very big beer garden. Maybe a bit pricy,but worth the money. Won't be disappointed.

We were a group of five and were made very welcome. We had a great lunch of sandwiches, which were really good and well presented, along with some nice ales and friendly staff.

Visited as a rather large group that were a little worse for wear when we arrived. Food and staff were top notch. What a great little pub. Will definitely go again ( I want to try all of the pies)

Lovely old charming, traditional pub on edge of city centre. Cozy restaurant area, separate bar area, good well laid out rear garden outside area. Well located next to hotel, which didn't have restaurant service But also a good stop off as so many places of interest close by. Staff very friendly and helpful, very willing to assist. Very good choice.

What a find this pub was. Great range of drinks and the food was excellent. You will find the staff pleasant and very helpful I can't speak highly enough of this establishment. The beer garden is lovely and an added bonus with large screen Tvs showing Skysports.

The food is another highlight—each dish is presented with care and tastes absolutely superb. It's real value for money, and everything we've tried has been simply gorgeous. A special shout-out to Big John in the kitchen, who occasionally comes out to serve guests; he’s a polite gentleman with top-notch culinary skills. The staff at The Shakespeare are outstanding. Lorna, who often serves us, always greets us with a smile and takes the time to chat, which my 76-year-old mother really appreciates. The management team is equally fantastic, always up for a laugh and genuinely attentive to customers. Every staff member we've met has been brilliant, contributing to the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Overall, if you're looking for a place with superb food, a fantastic drink selection, and a welcoming vibe where you can unwind and enjoy yourself, The Shakespeare is definitely the place to be. It has quickly become one of my favourite spots, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

I loved it, I had the best burger I have ever had there! The service was great and the waiter was nice. Even the manager asked if we were enjoying the food. Definetly going again next time we are in Birmingham! I recommend the signature burger!

Came in for the opening ceremony for the Olympics and despite there being other sporting events on, Ryan and Nathan put it on for us. Nothing is ever too much trouble for this fantastic team. Shout-out to Lorna and the Kitchen team for fantastic service and a lovely mac and cheese. Highly recommend this lovely little venue with a cracking beer garden which is rare for Bham city centre.

Quick stop off on the way home after work, thought it would be busier for the football, but gladly it wasn’t - meant I could have a seat to enjoy my drink. Would usually opt for a Guinness, but it was quite warm in the pub so went for a cold cider. Always enjoy my visit to The Shakespeare.

I visited this place for the first time on Saturday, 29/06/2024, with some friends. We liked the location and the furniture, and we decided to sit outside. An older gentleman, probably the manager, came to our table to deliver a pint we had ordered and asked for an ID. I'm 26 and likely look older, so I was surprised. When I looked at him for options as I didn't have my ID on me, he responded rudely, leaving a bitter impression. I went inside to seek help from other waiters after asking people sitting nearby about the ID rule, which apparently was only applied to us. The same older gentleman asked for my ID again. Smiling, I asked if I had a teenage face, and he repeated his request with a serious expression. My friends and I were visibly frustrated by the situation.Then, the older gentleman laughed and said it was all a joke. He walked away and spoke to a colleague with a disgruntled look. I understood what he said but won’t share it here. Free advice to him (hope you won't take that as a joke): Remember, money is the same no matter who spends it. Professionalism is essential when someone pays for it. Save the grumbling and frustration for home.

Enjoyed our short stay. The ale was well kept and the food was tasty. The bar felt welcoming in the middle of the day and the service was good. it only droped a point as I thought the food portion sizes were smaller than I thought they should be for the price tag.

Delicious, hearty food - “simple” but excellently made. I cleaned my plates completely (vegan cottage pie, then a crumble). Partly because I was hungry; Partly because it was such good food. Friendly service from everyone we interacted with.
