Used to go to the bull loads many years back for work meetings (ahum) but the first visit in ages. Still a good un I'm glad to find and well worth the trip. Thought there used to be more booths/curtained areas but could be wrong. A unique pub among so many chains. Serving great quality, homely food (sausage and mash was spot on) and always felt a welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Hope to return a lot sooner 🤞👍

Historic pub in the Gunmakers Quarter. Centuries of gun trade workers, high/low brow customers have enjoyed a drink and meal here. History oozes from the walls. Good selection of draught and cask beers. Pub menu with some slight and enjoyable twists. Quiet, laidback vibe. Just come, have a pint and soak the history.

This is a brilliant pub. It’s a classic, old-style pub that has a community of regulars and exemplifies how pubs used to be! The bar tender was welcoming, friendly, sociable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the drinks. The resident cat (of 16 years!) was a welcome edition. Never before have I been to a pub with a cat, and it brought me joy! For food I had the jacket potato with cheese and beans. This I thought was a reasonable price on balance of the quality and the atmosphere, however I would prefer to see more vegetarian mains if possible. The jacket itself, however, did not disappoint - it was thinly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the portion size was generous, including the side salad. The toilets were clean and clientele friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit and hope to re-visit myself when back in Birmingham!

We were in Birmingham for the day to do some shopping and having a wander around and came upon The Bull by accident. But what a happy accident - beautiful old style pub with a great range of cask ales along with lagers and ciders etc. Really friendly warm welcome - feels 'old fashioned' inside, but in a very good way. We didn't eat but the menu seemed a reasonable price and the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked really wholesome fare. Plan to go back when next in the area. The Gravediggers 'Mild' was a thing of beauty!

My single room was OK small but so cozy, clean and comfortable, The pub itself is splendid - the staff are welcoming, you feel immediately at home; and it seemed to have a good bunch of 'regulars'; and with a good range of real ales and other beers as well. The food is good hearty pub grub. And it is so central - you can walk from the main stations As a solo woman staying overnight I felt really 'at home' - I sat in the pub back room doing some work in the evening while the regulars chatted in the main room. OK if you want more space and supplement-fresh decor , go to a hotel - and pay double - and spend the evening in a soul-less bar. This is not a hotel - it's more a guesthouse attached to a pub.

I was in Birmingham with my 15yo daughter for a show and booked this as the cheapest hotel I could find as was literally sleeping, breakfast then out. So you get what you pay for. The room, no 4, was a throw back to the 40s, marked taupe coloured walls and doors, but our room was a good size, a double and single, the bed was super squishy, comfy for me, patterned coloured duvet colour, gorgeous window lol, and large modernised bathroom, crisp white towels. It was clean and comfy, TV, tea coffee, it did what it was meant to. but if you like modern, neutral, don't stay here. As a room, no complaints. PROBLEM WAS... my booking said £5 ea for breakfast, book it on arrival, I did, then got a paper note through the door at 11pm saying "sorry, there was a miscommunication and there will be no breakfast in the morning". Luckily I always have biscuits with me so we had tea and bikkies in bed before we got dressed. Then we went to Wetherspoons 10 mins away! Not ideal, I wouldn't choose to breakfast there but it was a fix. I feel bad as I am more than happy to give my money to keep these authentic old pubs going, but seriously, if you commit to a service...deliver! The young guy who served us was very apologetic, didn't know and was super friendly. Hotel is 20 mins walk from centre of town and there is good manky paid parking 20 steps away @ £7/day (sorry for the blurry pics, taken from video)

Fairly convenient for the city center and reasonable rates but the plus factor ends there. Room was very small as was the bathroom and whilst reasonably clean it was showing its age with the decor and furnishing. Mattress could have done with replacing as you could feel all the springs. Room was stiflingly hot, ok not the Hotels fault but you couldn't really open the window due to the road noise from the ring road directly outside. Plenty of adjacent parking available but not the best of areas at night.

Paseando por Gunmakers Quarter, mi hermano gemelo Stephen y yo descubrimos The Bull Pub y qué descubrimiento tan increíble.

We visited this pub towards the end of our Birmingham ale ramble with Cheltenham CAMRA - I think it was one of those instances of keeping the best until last, even though we had already visited some great hostelries. This was certainly one of the day's highlights - yes not quite as extensive a range of ales as in some other venues, but a perfect pint (I opted for 'Burning Soul Hop4ward' followed by 'Fixed Wheel Blackheath Stout') poured by the friendliest bar-person (being PC) of the day. And the food was excellent too.Highly recommended - ignore the historic adverse comments as the recent change of ownership was clearly for much the better (and presumably all earlier reviews should now be removed in line with normal TripAdvisor policy in such circumstances?!).

This pub is a real Birmingham gem! It offers a good mix of perfectly kept real ale as well as some great world lagers. You'll meet the brilliant and attentive staff and feel at home in a great chilled atmosphere. There are 'pub cats' that are mostly found napping but sometimes roam about looking for some fuss, which for me adds to the experience, but that's perhaps not for everyone. I highly recommend visiting this place as I've thoroughly enjoyed drinking there both times I've been. It's worth noting, they do also offer a full menu of food, which looks great but I haven't tried it so I can't comment.

Unfortunately the lager tasted off so had to buy a bottle, again not a problem and reasonably priced. The menu expensive for what it is. Sausage and onions sandwich £7 on a basic sliced loaf served on a crust slice not the best. As it was empty a bit of quiet back ground music might have given a bit more of an atmosphere. It was also cold (why do pubs not have heating on in February??) was told the fire was just for show but we found the plug to put the fire on .

Her pub!I could have sat there all day, watching the world go by. Thank you all at the Bull for reminding me of how good things used to be. When I come back to the old home town again, I will revisit.

Been going here for years. Without a doubt, one of Birmingham's best pubs! Food is basic, but excellent! Rose is a great host, and always has time for a chat. You're not rushed out of the door at closing time, and Rose will call you a Taxi, should you require one. Great place for a chat, no boom boom juke box! All in all, "A great little boozer!"

As already stated an old fashioned English pub, you don't get them like this anymore. Love it very relaxing environment to come to. No garden just benches outside. This is situated in the Gun Quarter of Bham not far from the station.Only came for drinks no food, however the menu has the usual pub meals. Prices start from tenner for hot meals, selection of sandwiches/omelette from pound upwards. There is free wifi and we had no problem getting connected. Don't know how she keeps it so clean and tidy as there are so many China mugs, jugs hanging up on the ceiling all shiny and clean.Worth popping in, loads of history about the place.

Others had said not as good as it used to be and although my pint of pedigree was fine others drinks not necessarily so. Could go either way based on my visit. Will be interested to see other future reviews.

This 2 roomed pub, on the outskirts of the city centre, has a bar as you go in, & a more restaurant feel right hand side. Small cosy snug behind bar by kitchen. 2 ladies toilets. It has a newer more pricy menu than last year. Most mains £10- £15 each. Sandwiches £7, dessert £5. My salmon & veg was nice, big piece of salmon too.Only 2 real ales on the day we went in.Food served till 9.30pm.The pub cat was roaming outside on our visit.Landlady been here over 20 years, plenty of jugs hanging on ceiling above.

I was here for a short lunch after working at Aston University. The place is quite small and not very "visible" if you are not looking for it, but the food is nice, and the atmosphere is warm and familiar. Not the right place for a romantic dinner, but good for a lunch break
