Nothing to do with her being Jamaican and in the back, so your defence is incorrect. Also, you state I didn't say anything about the food in my review, kindly note that I have given the food 5 stars which you can clearly see above so I don't know why you are trying to claim otherwise. Accept constructive criticism without the need to be combative and you and your 'Jamaican friend' at the back won't have any further issues! Telephone order, arrived at the time I was told.. food not ready. On top of that, was shouted at by the female in the back.

Food was excellent had the curried mutton (boneless) large portion and fried dumplings. Good sized portions. Served up in firm plastic boxes. Just popped it in the microwave when I got home. Couldn't fault it.

Food on a different level, the chicken soup is first class, but the jerk chicken is on a different level.

I ordered the jerk chicken patty (£2). It was tasty; the patty wasn’t crispy or flaky but it was soft, stodgy and warm. The flavours were deliciously savoury and comforting. Would highly recommended!!

Home cooked hearty food that preserves flavour and spices come all the way from B90 to eat here always whenever free.

I got the large oxtail dinner with rice n peas, plantain and coleslaw. It was amazing and a great portion of meaty pieces. I have been trying to find good quality Jamaican in England since moving 1.5 years ago, and it felt like home.

Food was nice 👍🏾, only one minor, my food was cold but it was busy and I can over look that because if I went back she would of warmed it for me, and when I took it home and warmed it I wasn't disappointed, rice n peas, fry chicken with oxtail gravy. Toooooooo nice, only reason why I haven't been before is because its not the best location due to traffic and parking 🅿️, but after that beautiful food I will find parking lol, manners and respect to the people working hard 💪🏾🤜🏾🙏🏾

Small business, staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great and always a good selection to choose from.

Very impressed with the variety and level of service six days per week, how the staff achieve what they do in such a small space so consistently is remarkable, hence its little wonder this outlet is so popular, (Well done Blue Marlin)

service was smooth, quick & easy, and the food is 10/10! i ordered oxtail and it was without a doubt the best one I have ever had. love that it is halal, generous portion sizes and would highly recommend

Had multiple meals all dry no gravey staff are rude

We ordered curry mutton with rice and peas (they didn't have any of what I actually wanted to order) - __- fried chicken with rice, peas and veg, plantain and fried dumplings to take out. The food didn't have much taste. The rice barely had any peas and on top of that, the rice didn't have the reddish colour from the peas which is what any jamaican would expect. The plantain wasn't ripe, so it had no taste. The dumplings were alright... Pretty much all other reviews are good, so maybe quality control was lacking the day we ordered due to us ordering quite late. Idk.

Elite experience, a regular customer & constantly impressed every time I go. Got the extra large brown stew chicken meal which was superb - highly recommend this spot!!! Edit: Recently had the cow foot & callaloo & okra - exceptional as well!

Not been for an eternity. Food still on point, although dumplings a little flaky. Tortoise speed service, may be a good thing that they’re busy. Sign of a popular establishment. Food order not perfect, called to rectify, told the amount will be knocked off the ‘next’ order. Say I don’t want to order again? MAY, give them another opportunity

I luv blue marlin food. But this time round, I wasn't happy, oxtails tasted like it came out the freezer, and on top of that after canceling one of my orders, to be told that the canceled order was still made, and member of staff didn't offer to cancel the the canceled order and still charged me anyway. It not the customer fault if the member of staff wasn't listening properly. So I don't appreciate having to pay for a canceled order, that I didn't want. Need to sort out the few issues and I well change my review.

I travel from Croydon to Birmingham on a regular basis. Tried this place out and the food is 10/10, freshly made and the lady serving me was very friendly which is different usually we get alot of attitude in jerk shops down Croydon, kind of a norm lol. Also One of girls ran to my car when they realised they forgot the plantain. Good service and good food. Definitely recommend.

Today, me and my partner went to this place for some Jamaican takeaway. We absolutely loved the food, I ordered the lamb mutton with rice and my partner who has asperger's and is a very wary eater ordered the jerk chicken and chips, he loved the chicken which I am very happy about becuase he almost never eats foreign food since its new to him. Thank you so much, will definitely be coming again soon.

Best Carribbean food around, simple as that.

I visited Blue marlin after many years and I was not disappointed. Definitely one of the most underrated places in Birmingham for Jamaican food. The food is always consistent and the portion sizes are value for money. Honeslty probably the best patties I have tasted in the whole of Birmingham. Convientant city center location with friendly staff and service. 10/10 highly recommend.

Waited ages for the food and even then the woman didn't tell me it was ready or if she called out my number it wasn't loud enough

Visited here for a quick snack, dumplings was excellent, fast service and friendly, and polite in front of the house. Finally, looking at a menu, everything seemed to be reasonably priced.

Food is perfect!! They always cater to our fussy needs and the food is always hot and fresh. There’s a little wait each time but that shows how in demand they are and how fresh the food is. Can never fault it

The young black girl who was working in the week day is very rude I made a phone order and she got my order wrong then tried to argue with me in the shop full of customer very rude and disrespectful she lucky I never drag her from behind the counter with her rude self. She should listen to customer order and repeat it back to them instead of assuming you know what the order is.

My husband ordered for him self n I had some it was amazing jerk chicken with rice n peas now I’ve ordered today proper Jamaican food tasted amazing

Unfortunately I won't be coming back here. I went in to collect an order recently. Service was okay so no complaints there. But the food ... I was not satisfied with. I ordered an ackee and saltfish meal and had 3 festivals. The rice was mushy and clumped together, and over half of it went to waste because i simply couldn't eat it. The festivals were NOT fresh. At all. A day or two old judging by the whiplash I got from taking bites. I also found a hair in my festival. I have a photo but can't attach it for some reason. My friends who used to come here often warned me not to come back because apparently they'd "gone downhill" but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I didn't contact the shop directly to complain because I simply won't be returning. I only contact the shop to complain if I plan on coming back. Food used to be really nice, but noone wants mushy rice and stale festivals. 😒

Went in spent £26 was told after paid no white rice left so 1 meal rice and peas. Was charged an additional £1.50 for a festival (which I forgot to order) and a bag apparently. Get home no festival no veg on 2 of the meals requested. Called up and let them know wasn't pleased. I specifically asked if my order was correct and was told it was. After I go for my complimentary festival won't be going back to Blue Marlin again!! The 1 star was for Nicola who spoke to me and tried to do the right thing. Lamara charged me an extra 50p for a bag and gave me no receipt for it and my festival. Shop wasn't busy either!

Amazing food. I always go for the Jerk Chicken with beans, rice and vegetables. The peppered steak is delicious as well. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. Would definitely recommend

Reliable service Friendly staff Tasty food

Hot and hearty food, not necessarily spicy, more a slight peppery kick to their lamb curry with either rice or chips (I’d say chips are better). I prefer the same option from Khans though hence the 4 stars. Some different drink options too are worth a try.

I went here last year on a visit to Birmingham with my son. As soon as he knew I was coming up to see my sister, he made me promise to get him food to bring back to London, this is how good the food was. We have so many restaurants in London, but he wanted food from here. I can tell you, it did not disappoint. Great portion size, perfectly cooked and the lady who served me was soooo nice. Best Caribbean food in Birmingham 👌🏼

Been coming here for years. Food is always perfect. Sizes are generous and the prices are amazingly reasonable. Speedy service too! Would deffinetly recommend.

We had jerk chicken, ox tail, dumplings, plantain and ginger pinapple juice and it was all incredible. 100% recommend and will be back for more.

Food here is amazing and so well priced. Portions are very generous and staff are quite friendly too. Service could be a tad quicker though, but the quality of food makes up for it.

Came in at a busy time for these guys but there’s was nothing short of friendly accommodating service, Food is always spot on To my pleasant after paying surprise I was The lovely staff member that served me told me I had won a half price dinner Due to being the 100 customer What’s a great thing to do, I was more than happy to pay full price as it’s worth it. Highly recommend Great staff and food and this gesture has just cheered up my hardworking day! Keep it going blue marlins

First time I came and it was chaotic, while placing my order somebody came in behind me and they stopped taking my order to serve the person behind me and appeared to try taking both orders at the same time. My daughter then asked for a pattie and the server tapped the cabinet. What does tapping the window mean? Another customer then told me it means that they had run out. Why not just say that you have run out? Was a couple in the shop that had placed a telephone order but didn't realise until they got home that the order was wrong. On a plus side the food was good, vdry tasty and the portion sizes were adequate. Will give it another go, but I hope the service is better next time.

Ordered Jerk Chicken and Fried Chicken meals with rice and peas. Also a couple of patties. Its been a while since I had a good Jerk Chicken meal. The boneless breast was cooked to perfection, nice, soft and tender. The Lamb pattie was alright but the Jerk Beef was 🔥🔥🔥, full of flavour .

The Callaloo and Ocra was insane 🙏 and the dumplings were 🔥. Will def be back again and again.

It's gone back to being chaotic , hopefully it is a one off i ordered my food to be picked up at 12.30 and stood there stil waiting at 1pm

Amazing food, reasonably priced, good service and consistent food over the last 5/6 years of me visiting - has become my number 1 Jamaican restaurant and takeaway with my go-to dish being Jerk chicken and rice! Recommend to call ahead and order as wait can be a little long, but you cant rush good food and its always worth it! 5* food from the lovely ladies at Blue Marlin!

The food is excellent as usual but needs more hands during busy period.

Service was good. Food was tasty BUT myself and two others all had a bad stomach. We ate around 7pm and had stomach cramps etc from 5am the following morning. For 2/3 of us this has continued into the evening. We all had large mutton dinner with different rice so I can only guess it was the mutton unfortuantely.

Can’t even get a coffee in the place Takes 20 minutes to make it they have milk Absolutely worst cafe in brum in my experience

As soon as I realised we were around the corner from Blue Marlin, dinner was sorted. I'd go more often if it was closer to home. Food is well tasty and fresh. My mouths watering as I type. Would definitely recommend this Caribbean food take away. Parking available. Telephone orders welcome, to avoid possible queue time as shop very popular. Imagine if it had seating, restaurant would be fully booked.

I'm from Wales and was passing through Brum, I needed some soul food and this came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Easy to find. Easy parking on the side road. Pleasant staff serving Didn't have to wait long for my order. I ordered, curry mutton, oxtail, saltfish patties saltfish fritters, dumplings lx2 of it all and got to say was lush, except a bit too much salt for me in the fritters (but I don't have salt in my food) and the oxtail tasted more bbq than curry. My teenage son loved it too. But I would 100% recommend this place.

I'm from a place called Stafford and very rarely get a chance to taste food this flavoursome, unless I cook it myself! People saying it's reheated. .you need at least a day for spices to thoroughly combine?. .not sure if this was, but it tasted fresh with no sauce skin or crust bits of rice etc. The server was polite and even directed me to the local hair shop, thank you lady. Authentic and well worth the 8.50 for a large mutton with rice and peas, and just a quid for 3 fresh festival dumplings. .I'd be massive if I lived in Birmingham is my final comment 🤤

One of the best Caribbean takeaways in Birmingham. Happy to see business is thriving and they have opened another shop. A few years ago I used to eat here everyday and even though I don't visit as regular anymore the food quality and taste is still excellent.

Microwaved food not fresh at all! Ordered rice and peas requested, no steam veg. I like to think i speak decent english but was shocked to see my order contained what I specifically asked not to have. This was quickly rectified by removing the veg and adding abit more rice. Which is fine but tbh I expect some new fresh rice as a whole. But what shocked me the most was when this was put into the microwave second time making the food taste dry loosing any taste to it. This just somes up this shop they don’t care about the food they serve all about sales Customer service poor as well!!!! Definitely not going back!

Not sure what other great reviews are about after what I've just had. (maybe a bad day?) Frozen steam veg & frozen chicken bites (meant to be jerk chicken) coated in some jerk sauce with no proper seasoning (where is the skin of the chicken?) Never saw jerk chicken like that inna mi life ta rass. See attached for what im talking about. 1* for the Rice and peas which was okay and edible. Really wanted to like this meal but it was a pure waste. The search for a decent caribbean continues...

Just been here had mutton curry it was quite bland the meat im sure was stewing beef not mutton but maybe wrong! The rice was all clumped up and quite stodgy but the worst was what i can only explain as a ripped up bit of plastic bag that was in my food i was actually chewing on it and it actually made me throw up!!! This should never happen ever!!!!!
