Decent Nicholson's pub a couple of minutes walk from Birmingham New Street Station. Seven cask beers on handpump when I visited all of which were pale ales. I will not be visiting this pub again until I can be sure that it will be offering a selection of beer styles.

We visited with our dog. I booked a table however for what ever reason we were not able to book for the dining room but the staff saved a table for us in the bar area. The staff on were fabulous. The didn't just accept or tolerate our dog the went out of the way to welcome him. Fetching water and fussing him. Embarassingly our dog was sick. We asked for some equipment which we could clean up with but they wouldn't hear of it and insisted on clearing it up for us. All the staff that night were personable and friendly they behaved as if nothing was too much trouble. We would gladly recommend The Baccus Bar to our friends and will definitely make a return visit.

I don't leave a whole lot of reviews, but for this place I am making an exception. I joked on FB: "An hour wait for food? This better be amazing food." It absolutely was. The only thing I'm upset about is that I wasn't hungry enough to devour every bit of it. Legitimately, if I could get the pie filling in a bowl like a stew, I'm relatively certain I could eat two pounds of it. The vegetables were also fantastic, and the chips were top notch on their own, but with the side of sauce it came with: beautiful. Highly recommend. Show up early and hungry. Also, the staff were completely slammed, but they handled it like total pros. Props to them.

Love this place! Full of atmosphere and theatre, top range of drinks and service stop on. This bar is under the Hotel and as such you can't get a mobile signal so everyone is talking, socialising and there's no annoying phone use. I didn't eat here so can't comment on the quality, but the menu looks pretty comprehensive and eclectic. It's not the cheapest place to eat and drink but it's full of charm, and pseudo history.

Tuesday 14th January 2025 This pub next to Birmingham New Street Station is a gem it is like a Belgium pun under the ground and feels like a typical Ntwerp church bar The place resembles a 18rh centuary church interior and the staff and clentelle so behaved this pub has 5 hand pumped ales on and there are so well kept. This venue has to be seen to be believed - truly awe inspiring but why do they try to sell so many cask ales when there does not appear to be the demand? Perhaps it’s best to try before buying then you don’t have to ask for it to be replaced?

Been here before years ago on a friday night when it was lively and heaving. This time I visited during a quiet daytime. It's a striking place to be in terms of decor. They serve some fantastic beers on tap, and are also good for a coffee. They made my wife a lovely cappuccino. The service was superb and friendly. Loved the surroundings and atmosphere of the place but £7.25 for a pint of Madris is extortionate. We had the Sunday dinner after seeing other diners getting theirs and was extremely disappointed. Two small slices of dried out Beef and the vegetables were just about warm. Looked like the food had been sat under a heat lamp for to long. Also £4.50 for a tiny portion of cauliflower cheese is overpriced. I don't mind paying for good food but at least try and serve it hot

We were here on a Saturday evening for a few drinks. The atmosphere and interior were very nice - a really interesting place to relax. However, the service leaves much to be desired. There were only two bartenders working at the bar , and unfortunately they did not know how to make cocktails correctly: the proportions were wrong, and they could not make a non-alcoholic cocktail at all. I wish the staff knew the menu better and knew how to make drinks, especially on weekends when the flow of guests is high. We hope that in the future the service will be at the level of the atmosphere of the establishment.

You've asked for more detailed feedback so here you go. Bacchus bar has a very lovely ambiance and was always a pub I enjoyed going to, however, visiting on Friday night it was very quiet but most importantly the drinks (Guinness and peroni) were quite poor (Guinness not poured properly and too cold, Peroni on the edge of flat) for £14.35 meant we had one drink and left rather than stay for 2 or 3. I've seen your replies to other comments about prices that you do regular price comparisons and that's fair enough, however, my own experience of Birmingham restaurants, pubs and bars would suggest this is very much on the high side (which is fine if the product is also high quality)

What a bizarre experience. Popped in for a quick pint while waiting for a train. They had 'old perculier' available to which I was quite looking forward to as it's one of my favorites. As I ordered there was an 'explosion' under my foot which to myself and everyone's surprise was a small fire cracker, no doubt a practice joke played by someone who was either working or a customer of the pub. The issue was how poor quality the beer was. As it was way past it's time I returned to the bar to the same staff member that served me. I said it wasn't right, he said 'it's fine I had a few last night' I said I 'thinks it's past it's date' he said he would check the cellar, to which he returned and said 'it's fine it has 26 days left'. Apparently he was a manager, my question is why does he know nothing about Ale? (ale goes off 5-7 days after first pull) and secondly why not just replace the pint even if you think I'm wrong? I left my expensive pint (£6.20!) of rotten ale and left.

What do a pair of Aussie tourists fresh off the plane get for dinner on their first night in Birmingham? Easy answer, a pie, of course! But not just any old pie, no no my friend. You ain’t had a pie until you have ventured into the subterranean bar/ restaurant that is Bacchus. Located in the Burlington Arcade in the heart of Birmingham you descend down a fight of stairs into the most over themed, ostentatiously decorated pub you have, and will, ever experience. Is this a negative? No way! The venue is cozy and inviting and has lots of little nooks and crannies where you can secrete yourself for an intimate dinner or relaxed drinks with mates. The choices at the bar are extensive and the food coming out of the kitchen is top notch. Their pies are what they are famous for and for good reason. Packed with quality filling and doubling down on flavour the range of pies is impressive and great value of money. I’ve left the best for last. The service is impeccable. The staff are amazing here. Super friendly and attentive and most importantly can have a joke about how rubbish English beer and cricket is compared to Australia. We were served by the guy who I assume is running the show down there. Will, what can I say… the guy is an absolute star. Smart, witty and handsome; I was about to marry my mum off to him if I thought I could get away with my dad not finding out… We had a great time. Cheers guys.

Ten years since I last ventured into the city centre, but my God daughter fancied lunch there, so after checking she'd be welcome (15), off we toddled. Just a manageable walk from Navigation St parking, it was refreshing to find a couple of lifts in the foyer, and another inside the entrance, always a bonus when you're on crutches! It was 4pm, and just starting to look busy, but the place is huge, it was still the Midland Hotel last time I went! We found ourselves a secluded table, and perused the menu, I'm a fussy ol'bugger, and she likes to be less predictable than others of her generation. We settled on our choices, and as I stood to head and order at the bar, a man mountain of a guy (Mitch) seeing me on sticks, approached to take our order. He sensibly questioned for dietary limits, and quickly advised that my batter covered fish dishes, might not be in best keeping with my Diabetes, and so having discussed some more options, I decided on a slow cooked brisket pie, it was up to me if I ate the pastry(?), and my wee guest opted for Haddock. He brought drinks over too while we waited for our fayre, and the table was soon dressed with cutlery and condiments, by Mitchs alter- ego, Will, a tiny wee fella, full of charm and banter. My pie was proper mansize, piping hot, and the fish lived up to its billing, she wolfed it down. The two fellas, without hovering, or bothering, stayed within earshot of our table, just so that nothing would be an effort for us, and we took advantage of a couple of classic desserts to round off our meal. Both of the lads checked that we were satisfied, took time to chat to us both, and finally, escorted us through the magnificently decorated vaults, and back to the door. The look on my god daughters face as we exited, said it all, we'll be going back again, not always the case. All too many restaurants focus solely on the paying adults, fawning, and hovering, to the point of annoyance, but these lads were completely inclusive of both of us, she loved being expected to interact, and not ignored. Bacchus, you did us proud, and we'll be back!

As someone else said, it's a Gem! Quirky yet elegant setting, interesting and unusual menu and drinks options. Really good coffee. The staff are lovely. if you like the idea behind Melt, then you'll enjoy how they've interpreted it.

Consistently great food from here. Eveytime I pass through Brum, I have to stop by. Certainly in my favorite restaurant list.

We have visited the Warehouse since 1976 and although not regulars due to living in London for most of the time since then we have never had a bad experience. The food has always been great. We have no problems should the menu be limited. It has been wonderful to eat at a vegetarian venue and I am very sad to hear of the closure. There have been ups and downs over the years and I'm just hoping that for Birmingham's sake someone will come to the rescue. Vegetarianism and Veganism are in vogue so what's the problem?
