We have visited the Warehouse since 1976 and although not regulars due to living in London for most of the time since then we have never had a bad experience. The food has always been great. We have no problems should the menu be limited. It has been wonderful to eat at a vegetarian venue and I am very sad to hear of the closure. There have been ups and downs over the years and I'm just hoping that for Birmingham's sake someone will come to the rescue. Vegetarianism and Veganism are in vogue so what's the problem?

First review so please be gentle.. Went for a visit to get the loaded chips and burger which I've always loved. Instead I found that things have changed quite a lot. The place seems to be more of a café now than a restaurant, which I think makes more sense! I ended up getting a very realistic vegan tuna sandwich as part of a meal deal, with some crisps and coffee. The staff were very friendly, loved the vibe and was impressed by the 'pay as you feel' soup option! Also, I wouldn't book a dinner here, but its a good place to relax just behind town and is also attached to a cute bookstore.

Sorry I’m about to ramble. I’ve just been to this cafe in digbeth with my vegan cousin. I am a carnivore and a generally picky eater; I hate vegetables generally. I was really disappointed that there was only soup, sandwiches and baked goods, as my cousin promised there were burgers that tasted like real meat on the menu. I settled for the pay as you feel soup, I payed 3 pounds as I didn’t want to be too stingy. I was pleasantly surprised by the meal; it was roast carrot and corriander. As I’ve said previously I hate vegetables but it was so good I got seconds. Aesthetically the cafe is more D.I.Y in appearance which isn’t everyones cup of tea, but I must say it was a very homey feel (the chairs were a bit s*** I’d recommend the couch.) I would definitely visit again, in spite of the limited menu.

Waited 50 mins for food to arrive. Asked again when we can expect food, Had to ask for wine we ordered, forgotten order,was told main chef off sick and they were doing their best. Also it is a busy Saturday so delays can be expected. No cutlery on table, no condiments, decided to find them myself. On a positive note the food was good. Expectations were high due to previous reviews however felt let down.

Had a delicious lunch here. I had the doner kebab with seitan "meat". Absolutely lovely. And a side order of delicious chips. A wonderful vegan cafe.

We came in for lunch today (9 April). I had seen the good reviews, And I really wanted to love this place, but sadly I didn't. We felt the service was a bit cold to lukewarm and generally unwelcoming. There was barely any customers in the cafe, so it's not as if they were rushed off their feet. The various menus and specials weren't fully explained to us, so ordering was obtuse and unnecessarily clunky with me having to prise information from the two servers. The menu on the counter was stained and in a dirty plastic holder. My falafel wasn't that tasty, lacked seasoning and my husband's burger was just a burger, with a lettuce leaf inside plonked into a big plate. My husband who is a meat eater said the burger tasted ok. But for the price you'd expect a side of salad or fries to be included. The loaded chips was about 15 chips with beetroot and dressing in a small metal tin. No condiments were offered. Nor cutlery, and I can see now from other reviews this a get your own cutlery place, but this wasn't explained to us either. The venue is very shabby and tired looking. The toilet was grim! I would have loved to try the coffee and cake but the atmosphere was so inhospitable and joyless,we chose to leave. She did ask us whether we enjoyed the meal and I did the whole polite "yes, thank you" thing because I was too annoyed and disappointed and just wanted to go. As a dietary vegan for over 30 years, the days when we should just be grateful for any meagre offerings are in the past. Thankfully there is now so much choice and next time I come to Birmingham I'll try a different restaurant.

Having checked the website which says the warehouse cafe is now open again . I booked for 15/01/2022 as a birthday surprise. The website re directs you to a booking agent website and allowed me to book a table for 3. I left my contact details for nearly two weeks in this booking and no one advised me the cafe was closed. I took my partner and child for her birthday meal to find it shut , upon calling the phone number the automated message stated they were closed until February 2022. I have sent emails regarding this incident to warehouse cafe and the booking agent Fork. Only Fork responded . What a disappointing experience and unless they do respond to my email to apologise I won’t be re visiting. Be careful if you choose to book at the cafe !

Visited Saturday 10th of July bit of a slow start the service was a bit slow but the food more than made up for it absolutely brilliant food couldn't recommend it highly enough it was simply fantastic

You will be coming back once you've been once. Pretty convinced if I could cook like this I would be Vegan 100%. Warehouse cafe is best Vegan restaurant in Birmingham.

Really impressed with the Covid practices in place and also had a great meal. Would highly recommend the veg curry.

Lovely chilled place with incredible vegan food options. Staff have always been super friendly when I’ve gone, there’s a good selection of food/drinks/baked goods and the portions are generous. We went for an evening meal and I had an incredible burger and loaded fries (probably my favourite). Went again another evening and had an unreal ‘fake’ ‘fish and chips’. We also sampled some of their cakes and would 100% recommend. Overall a welcoming and relaxed place, definitely worth visiting more than once!

My boyfriend and I had a voucher as a present. Food was amazing! Lots of choice and we also had some yummy cake (brownie and flapjack) to take away with us. Definitely a place I will be going back to! Thank you :)

The Warehouse Cafe goes from strength to strength. Awesomely tasty food in a really nice, relaxed atmosphere. I am vegetarian not vegan and find it hard to believe that they can make food so tasty whilst keeping it vegan. Good selection of drinks available and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Three great vegan delights served up to us at this right-on cooperative near Moor Street station. The buddha bowls and kebabs were delicious. Try the organic beer too ...

First time here, the food was excellent, lovely flavours and textures, really well thought out. Definitely recommend a visit!

We arranged to meet up with my niece here for lunch as she is studying at Birmingham and I have never really been to the city before. Great little place, which is ran as a workers cooperative. Laid back interior which encourages you to move about and feel at home, which is helped by the warm and friendly staff.On to the food. You look at the menu, decide what you want then go to the counter and order it and pay at the same time. There isn't much time between ordering and it being brought out. The first thing that struck me was the size of the portions, it was huge! I had gone for the Dirty Kebab Burger, my partner had the kebab and my niece had the wrap. Absolutely delicious, I managed to clear my plate, but I was entering wafer thin mint stage by the end. Everyone else was pretty much the same. By the time we left the place was started to fill up, so you may need to check in advance for tables (this was a Saturday at about 1.30.I would quite happily have paid twice what I paid. We enjoyed it so much, we went back the next day for more.Go, doesn't matter if you aren't vegan, the food is fantastic, portions are generous, the staff are lovely and the place is chilled out. Best place in brum? Maybe.

Not been here for a good 20 years as I used to live in London. Came with a friend and wow - we loved it. Food was amazing. We had the mezze platter, seitan doner, seitan topped chips and sweet potato fries. All very good. Great service. Love the co-operative idea. Also great booze selection. In short I’m in love. Carry on the good work guys.

I've visited this restaurant a few times with friends. Its in Digbeth - if you know The Original Patty Men burger restaurant, its just round the corner from there.The management know what they're doing and the staff know the menu and are very helpful and friendly. If you have a friend with particular requirements, this place will make sure they're looked after. The atmosphere is casual and I got the impression people working locally like to pop in for lunchThey used to be vegetarian but now they have vegan options too, including cakeThey deserve kudos for being the original vegetarian restaurant in Birmingham and for keeping it going and sticking to their values and quality, and I know they've won awards previously

Lovely vibe and very chilled atmosphere. We ordered food and drink and although the food was delicious it did take nearly an hour to arrive (and the cafe wasn’t full). This place would be fabulous as long as the service is a little quicker. Great menu choices!!

Great place, went with partner who has wanted to visit for some time (i was happy as could have a look in Spokes next door!) - but i throw myself in and went for the Fish and Chips (banana blossom) - was very surprised as was great!!!! would return!

I am not a vegetarian but have visited here usually with a dear friend who is. Having said that the last time was somewhile ago. So I was surprised to find that the focus here is not totally on food anymore but more of a community center or something similar. We thought the menu choice had significantly dropped of. The food which seemed to take a long time to arrive was tasty and we'll presented. So not as bad as we were beginning to think.

I've been a longtime fan of the Warehouse Café for about five years. Booked my birthday party there and was not disappointed! Probably the best vegan food I've ever had, at a good price in a lovely, relaxed setting. Really love the fact it's a worker's coop, as you know you're not lining the pockets of some franchise owner

I have been attending the warehouse cafe for many years due to their food and ethos, when it came to my knowledge they had shifted to a co operative I was extremely curious as to see how this would work in practice and I am happy to see I was delighted to see it do so.

I visited The Warehouse Cafe after doing an event in Digbeth. I was staying in Birmingham alone overnight and to be honest wasn't looking forward to trying to find somewhere decent to eat vegan or vegetarian food - and eating out alone.

I really enjoyed eating at Warehouse Cafe. I thought the food was excellent value and tasted great. There's a lovely atmosphere and the coffee was great too. We came with our baby son and we felt very welcome.

This cafe is in the most unlikely of locations but luckily it is in an area where there is plenty of pay and display parking and is very handy for Digbeth coach station.

The place is good to chill. Nice beverage options. Food options are limited. Live singer is very good. Nice place to hang out with friends.

Came here with a friend, between us we have 3 children under 3. They were very friendly and helpful but not overbearing, offered to move around a couple of tables to make more room for buggies if we needed and didn't mind the kids playing with the Christmas tree. It's a nice big space so they could walk around the sofa where we were sitting without disturbing other people. I know this isn't just a one off aswell because they've been the same each time I've been in.

Warehouse Cafe is such a wonderful home of good, soul-hugging food ("fish" and chips are a personal fave). But it's also so much more - the workers are so enthusiastic and keen to make sure you're comfortable. There's such a great vibe at each event I attend with friends - I've even invited friends to Brum just to check it out! A huge shout out and thanks to the Cafe - holds a special place in our hearts and long may it remain.

Reservé un cupón grupal para regresar con otros miembros de la familia y primero se canceló la reserva porque las horas habían cambiado, mi hija reservó su cupón y llegó según lo programado y en realidad fue rechazado porque nuevamente la cocina se estaba cerrando antes de que se confirmara . He tratado de contactarme desde entonces por correo electrónico y por teléfono, todo lo cual permanece sin respuesta. Es una pena, ya que me encanta el espíritu y la comida, pero la falta de organización y atención al cliente es inaceptable.

I've been a visitor here for over 20 years and have always loved the food and atmosphere. It's always been a favourite place for consistent gorgeous vegetarian and vegan food. We finally got round to visiting since the change to a cooperative and I was very much looking forward to it. I have a mixed bag of comments though. We'd booked a table for 3pm and when we arrived we were told that it was closing at 4 today, not a massive problem but it would have been useful to have been told this when booking and we then had to wait 40 minutes for the food, there was only one food order before us. There was an item missing and halfway through waiting for the food I had to go and ask if we could have our drinks while we were waiting (they had been forgotten). Some of the items I'd wanted to order weren't available. I also thought that the menu leaned too much towards meaty substitute dishes rather than good wholesome vegan cooking as it used to be but that is just my own personal preference. It all seemed very disorganised. The food when it arrived was really nice, the chips are amazing! It was my birthday and my husband had asked when he made the booking for a cake to be brought over but that message hadn't been passed on so they said they would bring a slice over with a candle in but in the space of half an hour they forgot that too. The staff were all extremely friendly but sadly rather all over the place. All in all mixed feelings. I love the whole ethos of the place but think if you are paying those prices you do expect reasonable service. I wouldn't go for a meal again but would definitely visit again for coffee and cake.

Myself and 3 friends visited here around 5:30pm on a Friday. It was nice and warm outside so the whole front of the cafe was open. We sat on one of the sofas + low coffee table style tables at the back of the room.

We went to the warehouse cafe for a team work lunch. This possibly made us more time-aware then other casual diners, but it did take an awfully long time for us to get our food, and it wasn’t as if there were many other people being served either.

My friend and I visited The Warehouse Cafe, first time since it reopened and moved downstairs. It’s now Co-operatively run which is great.

I have been here a number of times and never had a bad experience. The food is not only delicious but wholesome and hearty (a quality that most vegan options at other places lack)! I fully recommend the Dirty Seitan Kebab Burger but if you want something a bit more quirky, then the Sinner! There is also a great selection of cakes and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)!

I had Seitan Doner Kebab, my partner the kebab burger both extremely yummy. Hearty portion sizes, chips had a lovely seasoning, and homemade vegan mayo was a lovely touch. Seitan rly well done, not too heavy, good texture.

Our first visit to this restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The starter sharing platter was delicious and imaginative and main courses were generous and tasty. The vegetables and herbs were fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful, as well as being interested in our feedback about the dishes, and the ambiance was relaxed. Will definitely be going again.

We visited to use a Groupon voucher, which was a gift. Had a starter of broccoli bhaji - wonderful! Then a cheeseburger for main meal. We're both mostly plant based and I need gluten free and our needs were completely catered for. Atmosphere was relaxed and the food was freshly cooked, so tasty and the portions were really good. Would definitely visit again. Might have to save room for cake next times those looked excellent too. Beer from Coventry's vegan brewery - all good!

We bought some Groupon vouchers for this restaurant as it was my daughter’s birthday and she used to enjoy the Warehouse so we thought we would go for a family meal. We used to be regulars but it has changed somewhat and been closed, so we haven’t been for a while.

The service and atmosphere was great for our lunch, most importantly the food was fantastic - fresh, well presented and very tasty. The groupon voucher also made our visit very cost effective. Already organising our return :)

This place cannot be rated highly enough. The food was phenomenal vegan fare. I enjoyed a delicious seitan vegan kebab which I am restraining myself not to go back and eat endlessly. Served with perfectly cooked chips. I had it alongside a delicious ale. The venue is great not least because it's all worker-owned, meaning decision making is democratic and profits are shared. An essential model for doing things differently. Very friendly workers, and loads of interesting events too. Phenomenal.

Popped in for lunch as this place has changed hands again. It was packed with bodies everywhere. No one was is a hurry to move and all the large parties took over the place. I ordered soup to go. They kindly washed and used my own insulated mug. Tasted fab. Will go again real soon. Got 15% discount voucher off next visit.

Went here after somebody brought us a Groupon. Fantastic value and quality food. My partner ordered the bhudda bowl, was one of the cheapest meals but the portion was massive. I ordered the seitan kebab that is pictured, it tasted amazing. Highly recommend.

Visited here last weekend with friends and had the best meal I'd had anywhere for a long time. Beautifully prepared and extremely tasty. Friendly staff too. And rally good value vegan wine. Will definitely be back there when in Birmingham again.

A remarkable claim from two fifty plus chip eating veterans, but the wide eyed look that passed between us as we bit into the first perfectly cooked piece of potato said it all. I am not veggie but would rate my cheeseburger as one of the best I have ever tasted and my veggie partner just refused to share any of her seitan kebab. As we were using a voucher we had to "force" down a dessert and once again my mango cheesecake was amazing. Washed down with a reasonably priced and delicious bottle of the house pinot grigio this was a delightful late lunch that the welcoming staff and perfect weather made truly memorable.

This place is fab. The food was delicious & the people are so friendly & cannot do enough for you. It is really reasonably priced especially given the standard of the good. Seriously people you have to visit - I’ll be back very soon!

This was my first visit for a while l did not know the place had new management.Lots of burgers on the menu and chips.Too many chips for me so my friend finished them they were nice and crispy. I had a hot chocolate to warm me up on a cold wet June day.l was disappointed there were no vegan cake only flapjacks.

We really enjoyed our first visit here since the cafe changed hands and reopened in March this year. The food quality has always been good, but tonight it was superb. From our broccoli bhajis for starters, through our mains of fried halloumi / beanie burgers / Buddha bowls of vegetable goodness and lovely potato chips with skins, to our selection of cakes for dessert - everything was delicious! The locally brewed IPA vegan draught beer and vegan wine from Chile were also great. Immanuel and his front our house team were friendly and the coop system seems to be working very well.

Elegí Batata Harra Wrap, en el tablero de especiales con fichas de distribución y sriracha mayo para menores de 10 años. Este lugar es una visita obligada, y un precio tan razonable. Ideal para parejas, familias, encuentros con amigos, simplemente cualquier persona que aprecie la buena comida, preparada con mucho cariño por chefs que se preocupan. Bueno, un poco diferente a la última vez que visitamos! Ahora está en la planta baja, un poco más a lo largo del bloque y un poco más informal. Pero la comida sigue siendo excelente. No me di cuenta de lo deliciosa que puede ser la comida vegetariana, y teníamos un grupo de cuatro personas que estaban igualmente impresionados. Servicio ligeramente excéntrico, pero nos ofrecieron (¡y se llevaron!) Pasteles caseros como recompensa. Cómo crear clientes satisfechos. Aprende de ello tus grandes restaurantes impersonales. Ιδιαίτερες υφές και γεύσεις αλλά σίγουρα όχι κάτι που αξίζει να επαναλάβεις. Η κοπέλα στο ταμείο ήταν το πιο φωτεινό στοιχείο του μαγαζιού.

Perfect food that is probably the best vegan dish I've had so far. There were four of us eating. No complaints about anything. Clean, rustic, welcoming and really lovely staff. Thank you so much!

If you like rustic settings and homemade veggie dishes, this is the place for you. As it is not a chain, you feel good in supporting an independent business off the beaten track just outside the city centre. I had the bean burger, fries with coleslaw, very tasty indeed and I felt full for hours. My friend had the thick parsnip soup with buttery tasting toast minus the butter. We both came out feeling happy we had made the effort to re-try this venue as only re-opened three weeks ago. Don't be shy give it a try.

Visited with a friend and can honestly say this was one of the best meals I’d had in a long time. The cheese burger was fantastic and the meal size itself pretty huge. Ultra lovely staff too!

Has been difficult to contact recently possibly due to moving next door which is now more spacious and was well worth the wait! With a table of 5 and everyone happy with their meal, it was a pre concert meal as we were going onto the Jam House. The restaurant happily hooked us up with a Taxi .The Beetroot Pakora's are amazing and also the Kebab which was plentiful and flavourful. I always look forward to visiting here and the staff were very helpful and cheerful.

Vegan long before it was ‘fashionable’. Those in the know have been going for years. Excellent menu that meat can’t beat! Go on give a try , it may even be a life changer .

The Warehouse Cafe is a great place for vegans, vegetarians and anyone who wants to know just how delicious vegan food is. The beetroot bhajis were amazing and the seitan doner kebab a revelation. We finished our meal with a bread and butter pudding with custard and an apple crumble with custard; both were stunning. A fabulous meal with great service; the only thing we regret is not living closer to The Warehouse Cafe for frequent repeat visits.

We went for Sunday Lunch and one of our party has some food intolerances. They couldn’t have been more helpful. The food was delicious.

My husband booked this as a pre cinema treat for his Mom who is a vegetarian. They had both been before but it was my first time.

This is still a nice place to go for dinner and currently it is BYOB which is always good. But not as good as it used to be.

Another of those Brummie gems, hidden away in the backstreets behind Moor St Station. They have moved to street level now which is so much easier for the disabled, but they continue to maintain a high standard of vegetarian/vegan dishes at very reasonable prices. Since moving downstairs they do not have a licence, so bring your own.

Warehouse Cafe catered for my daughter's 21st birthday. We chose the menu and asked them to make us a vegan cake. I have to say I was a little uncertain initially as I am not vegan myself, but I have to say that Vee and the team excelled.

Llegamos en un almuerzo de lunes a viernes, fuimos los únicos al principio. El servicio fue bueno, aunque limpiar los pisos después del horario de apertura es bastante amateur. En general, la comida era decente, pero un poco sosa para mis gustos. Tenía papas fritas y el buñuelo de maíz y médula con una cola de karma, todo estaba bien.

Booked in advance and stopped off in Birmingham specifically to visit The Warehouse Cafe on a recent road trip. Food was pretty uninspired, had goats cheese parcel to start with, which took ages to come out but got sharing platter as compensation. Sharing platter was put down without any explanation as to what anything on it was. Starter was average when it finally came.

A fabulous Vegan Restaurant. Been about three times . Short walk from the Bull Ring - 10 out of 10 - highly recomended

The place was understaffed on this visit, but the working server was lovely. Started with the mezze platter and the pea and spinach soup of the day. Both of them were unique for this style and variety of restaurant but were delicious. The mains were the halloumi fish and chips and a falafel wrap. Both were amazingly flavourful and the chips were the perfect cross of thick and crispy and not over-salted. Would definitely recommend as a great range of vegan food and look forward to coming back when there are more servers on duty.
