I was greeted by the manager Joseph who was very helpful and welcoming. We were booked in very promptly and left to sort out our things. The room was spacious and packed with amenities for our convenience the bed was comfy. We had drinks at the bar in the evening and nothing was too much to ask the staff. Breakfast was laid out ready in the morning and was very nice. We had our evening meal at their Caribbean restaurant and it was amazing very well made and tasty. Service was 10/10. The only downside was parking however this is in no way the hotels fault due to location.

Clean, decent older rooms, but the service is superb. Ideal location within walking distance of .........everything you can walk to! A lovely old hotel with real charm and lots of interesting features. We will certainly go back.

The Shakespeare's in a convenient town centre location with a 7 minute walk from both the railway station and Piece Hall. It's in the perfect location for overnight stays for concert goers or when visiting our beautiful local destinations such as Hebden Bridge, Brighouse, Hardcastle Craggs but not fogetting Gentleman Jack's old stomping ground of Shibden Hall. I'd never tried Caribbean food before I called in thinking I'd try it for something different and grab a takeaway. I was immediatley sold as they play reggae and the food's both authentic as well as delicious. It's all made by a delightful lady who hails from Central Africa to traditional recipes learnt at her mother's house as she grew up. She's little spoken English but is fluent in French so with my tiny bit from O-level which hasn't been used since I left school we're managing nicely to talk to each other . Spotlessly clean, excellent food with both genuinely helpful & friendly staff and management it's truly got it all. If you don't believe me then try it for yourself ! I guarantee you'll find something you love ♡♡♡ ☆☆☆ ☆☆☆ P▪︎S ▪︎☆☆☆ Please check out Local Giving as we're trying to sponsor the manager, Joseph's, next visit to his birth home in a rural African village.137 children depend on him to keep them in school at £30 a term. He's worked really hard with villagers to get clean water into the village & set up farms to maintai the locals independence. So little over there means the world to these people and costs coppers compared to what we'd spend. Pennies for aspirin so far better value to buy there. We need £1500 for Joseph's flight and to give him enough to buy essentials for the villagers. Many thanks in advance! Every penny you give will make a huge difference to these strong , independent & hard working people. We're looking into this becoming a registered charity and if I didn't believe it was all about board I'd not touch it with a barge pole.

Super friendly staff, big comfy bed and thick blackout curtains for a lie in! Literally a two minute walk from The Peice Hall, one of the most beautiful gig venues in the North East and it's also a Carribean restaurant! There's also a great bar just over the road called Mum's House where we had a couple of fantastic nights with the locals. A lovely, lovely place..

I stayed here overnight and was very impressed with the service I received. My room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I found them very welcoming. The only downside was car parking as I had to go out at 9am to move my car due to limits on the car park. This is in no way the hotels fault and wasn't a huge issue, more a minor inconvenience. Breakfast was delicious and well prepared. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Highly recommended and I will definitely book here again when I am next staying in the area

Had a booking on 12th August 2023 when I went there and was told there's no booking in my name. Staff was very rude, unhelpful. I even showed my booking confirmation, but it was still no help. They ripping people stay away. Manager very rude. No customer service skills at all.

We visited Halifax just for one night to attend an event at The Piece Hall. The hotel was a short walk from the venue. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home straight away. The room was clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. We had a continental breakfast which was great. The hotel was very good value for money and we would have no hesitation in staying again if we revisited the area.

Really lovely building (I'm a fan of stained glass windows!!). Rooms lovely and spacious. Ours had solid dark wood furniture and although it faced the road it was quiet at night even with the window open. Continental breakfast- toast, cereal, cheese, crackers, fruit, Danish, tea and coffee. Special shout out to Rick - really jolly, friendly and helpful. New Caribbean menu sounded fabulous- we didn't get chance to try it this time, but definitely will when we next visit.

Not very good at all Continental breakfast which wasn't. They seem to have no idea. Bathroom plug in sink let all the water out as soon as you filled. TV remote control missing so no TV on first night. Second night was given RC but couldn't get BBC & some other channels. Signal terrible. Didn't have my reservation when I arrived. Two young lads seem to be running the place

A proper hotel in the middle of Halifax. Good size rooms with nice high ceilings. A good breakfast and only a five minute walk from the train station. Plenty of decent pubs and beer in Halifax. Plenty of places to visit within a 30 minute drive and Peice Hall which is spectacular is only a few minutes away. And the hotel owners are vert nice people.

Room was FREEZING. LOUD NOISES FROM OUTSIDE FROM PASSERBY's and TOO CLOSE to a NIGHTCLUB with music Blaring until 4.00am. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED FROM THE HOTEL. NO PARKING OUTSIDE BE WARNED YOU HAVE TP PAY IN A LOCAL CAR PARK WHICH THEY DONT MAKE YOU AWARE OF. MANAGEMNET NO WHERE TO BE SEEN - CALLS ON DIVERT to someone that sounded like he was at home with his kids. checked in at 10.00pm - even though I called ahead to state we were still arriving - owner said anytime after 3.00pm. Told the receptionist (lovely girl) and she came up to check and agreed room was freezing and there was a cold draught and the HEATING WAS OFF. When I rang the owner he said use the ELECTRIC HEATER - when i asked how long would it take to get it to my room he said "How long is going from ground floor to 1st Floor" We then found out there was no heater as it was faulty- was not offered alternative room or to obtain a heater to warm the room. MANAGEMENT HAVE OFFERED NO APOLOGY OR ANY DEDUCTION IN OUR ROOM COST £70.00 - BETTER OFF BOOKING THE PREMIER INN - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

So... As a Hotel, same as many. What sets this place apart from a lot of other places are the people who work there. I won't call them staff as they give off the vibe of being a family which they pass on to their guests. I came here for a few days on a business trip with a colleague and they genuinely welcomed us into their 'home.' they couldn't have been more hospitable if they tried. Breakfast was definitely worth paying the extra and trust me when I say you shouldn't stop there. Don't bother looking around Halifax for somewhere to have dinner, go to the restaurant within. We tried various dishes and each one was cooked to perfection and the portions were exceptionally good value for money. If you're really lucky, you'll get to meet the chef (a true character) and the lovely young lady with the natural dark locks (sorry I forgot your name). So to summarise, if you're having a stopover in Halifax, don't bother wasting your time looking around, just trust me and come here.

What awful customer service. My card got charged for a reservation which was cancelled by email as requested a couple of months before the booking date, and when I asked for an immediate refund, the phone was slammed down on me! I visited this gem of a hotel after hearing that the well known Hotel/ Restaurant owner called Carlo was back in business with this his new venture. I stayed in one of the Double bedrooms and as they are all new rooms they are truly luxurious, all are en-suite, modern bathrooms, large flat screen televisions, free wi-fi, and the most comfortable bed imaginable. I did think of going out to eat but as the hotel also has its own restaurant called The Romeo and Juliet I decided to eat in instead. The meal was delicious, again Carlo has use his expertise to create a restaurant with great ambience, and a very extensive menu at reasonable prices. Altogether a lovely visit to this wonderful hotel and I will definitely be returning there when I am in Halifax again. I would rate this hotel five stars.
