Beautiful little boozer! Lovely staff and great vibes!

Only popped in for 1 on our way to another pub but will be back. Can't rate it higher because we weren't there long.

Good atmosphere and great drinks. Will definitely use again

Had a really disappointing experience here yesterday. I have dietary restrictions and was absolutely humiliated by a member of the bar staff when I enquired about a dish. He literally tossed his head back, laughed in my face and walked away. I seldom leave reviews, but I'm still so mad and upset at the situation; it just ruined the night for me. Bar staff really need to work on their hospitality and allergen awareness - will not be returning.

Lilo is awesome and Lis was one of the mists resilient barmaids I’ve meet at the bar!! Also Joy@ plays there sometimes on Fridays and he is so worth it

Loved it in here. Packed full of the interesting history of Bristol. When you go in, check out the board with lots of facts on (above the first sitting you get to on the left). Lovely staff and great food too x

Came for a few hours to get some work done. Staff are great. Lush sunny garden with good WiFi, good selection of non-alcoholic drinks, and great vegan snacks!

The vibe here is great the food is also too shelf.

Had a large booking (18 heads) and the staff were amazing! Kitchen super speedy too and food was exactly what we were after.

To paraphrase the Bard, Good wine, good meat. Good God! Let's, eat. Actually, might have totally made that up. But it applies. From memory, Tuesdays are pub quiz night, Wednesdays are open mike night, and weekends it depends. Generally quieter in the week, gets lively at the weekends. See photo for typical menu.

Brilliant in all ways. Spent a whole Sunday here until almost closing... Lovely little garden, roast dinner was fantastic and coctails delicious. The bar staff were so friendly. I will definitely be returning soon

The Shakespeare provides the perfect pub experience one's looking for with sumptuous food and free flowing pints to liven up your Sunday Roast or frankly anyday of the week. It's also a very happening pub with music in the evenings and live events a few times during the week. I would definitely recommend it

Food was absolutely lovely brilliant deal on a Thursday £10 for meal including a pint staff are excellent so polite and friendly highly recommend 5⭐

Amazing food and great staff and prices.

We always have a good time at the shaky and I mean that someone who plays in a band there. It's a bit tight on space and the toilets are fairly basic but it's a great crowd a mixture of hipsters and locals who always seem to love a bit of our entertainment.

Absolutely love the shakey, it is the proper heart of Totterdown and a great venue for food, drink, pub quiz or music. Well worth a visit

Excellent pub, was there on the 29th with my pals playing connect 4 and having pints, no photos to add (yet) but hopefully will soon, I know my pal James took some good photos that really captures that special moment, can’t wait to see them

Smashing little pub with a great quiz on Tuesdays, live music most weekends. Limited menu but good quality and nicely presented. The landlord and his team are really nice, friendly and helpful.

Not the original, but definitely the best Shakespeare pub in Bristol. And a great pub by its own merit. Good selection of lagers and IPA's, and a solid burger menu. They also serve a banging Sunday roast, and booking is advisable for that. This has always been a "local" pub to the good people of Totterdown, however it's reputation as a music venue transcended the hilly Bristol neighborhood early on, and it attracts a fair share of its clientele from across the city and beyond. I've known this pub to change hands 3 or 4 times in the last 20 years, but the live music and good atmosphere have remained constant

I'm giving a 1 star (which I rarely do) but I was so so disappointed with the Shakespeare last weekend! I had booked a table for 2 people for a Sunday roast at 3pm (for a special occasion) and the pub contacted me saying that it was all booked in. We planned the day around going to the pub for the roast, took a walk and sat in the park close by to walk to the pub for 3pm. They called me at 2.50pm, as we were walking to the pub, to say that they had ran out of roast dinners!!!! We were extremely disappointed and annoyed that 1) they didn't save roasts for those people who actually booked a table and 2) that they rang us 10 minutes before we were due to arrive!!! Trying to get another booking at that time for a roast was impossible and we just had to walk around trying to find a place to eat! Terribly disappointed and won't be going back! I don't recommend going here if this is how they treat their potential customers!!

This is just a great pub. I saw a EURO 2020 game there the other night with some filling, tasty and free nachos for the table. The bar staff were friendly and even tidied the pub around me when they wanted to close up as I'd made friends during the evening as it's a friendly place. The Lilley cider is a winner too: sweet, strong and drinkable 👍

The food here is SO TASTY. Their roasts are fantastic (wish they'd bring back the delicious goats cheese and sweet potato pies), as are their delicious soup&salad meals. Really nice atmosphere and they have board games. Love coming here for a chill Sunday pint and a roast.

They had great beer and it was a friendly enough place. However, the clientele became quite raucous and there was a pungent aroma of luxury tobacco. Part way through the evening, without warning or explanation, they dimmed a section of the pub lighting which me and my (non romantic) companion were using. This was actually quite annoying.

We went to The Shakespeare with a Wriggle deal for burger and a pint and it was delicious. Really good quality - a freshly prepared and cooked meal. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. Live music playing too which was an added bonus. Will definitely be going back!
