Waited over an hour for food, when it eventually arrived it was over cooked and tasteless. Not a friendly atmosphere for a Country Pub.

Wrote on Facebook site that I had not enjoyed the Sunday lunch but it looks like you cannot put less than good reviews they removed it so I'm putting it on here the Sunday roast of beef was , veg still needed another ten minutes cooking carrots where raw my mash was ok but Mrs said her's was lumpy roast beef had been cooked to quick and was like a training shoe sole the price of £14.99 was about average but not worth it the alcohol free lager was £8 + a pint total rip off I was driving so I could not drink alcohol. No worries though we won't be going there again . These new tenants need to learn how to run a pub we have been using the outlet for many years but sadly won't be using this place anymore well not till they leave ,.....

We decided to nip out for a family lunch and chose The Shady Oak. We're so glad we did. A warm welcome, excellent choice and the food was delicious.

7 adults and 3 children visited for Mother's day lunch. The management are comparatively new and they have got off to a very good start. Four of us are vegetarian and there were good options plus a range of roasts. The children were very well catered for and we all enjoyed our meal. Service was good and all the staff friendly and prices reasonable.. A really good experience all round.

This was by far one of the worst pubs in the High Peak. Food was terrible and cold. Pint tasted funny. I had chicken tenders with salt&pepper chips and my wife had the steak and ale pie. The batter on the chicken tenders was soggy the salt and pepper chips had some awful shop bought seasoning on. Onto the steak and ale pie. It was 4 pieces of tough beef with gravy. We both had soft drinksand one alcoholic and it was Rola cola at 3.50 altogether the bill was over £40 overpriced &terrbile

Called in on NYE and the staff are very welcoming and friendly, the menu is simple but good for choice and all at a same cheap price. We both had a cheeseburger with fries, the burger was big, the fries portion size was enormous and the fosters was great. We will definitely be returning again to try more items on the menu and hopefully manage a pudding this time.

My only critism was that room 13 had the kitchen extractor outside the window which made the room smell like cookies when I arrived. I had to close the window to prevent the noise and smell entering the room. The extractor seemed to remain on all night which could annoy some guests as it wasn't quiet. The breakfast was good and the location was very central.

Good sized weatherspoons, not too over crowded like a few others, food is alright for the price as well.

Lovely pub in picturesque village. Sat outside, to eat in the sun. I had chicken wings, which were the smallest I'd ever seen or had. But the lovely Halloumi fries made up for it. Expensive. But two other pubs on competition. Would try other food, menu looked fabulous for main dishes. The pub is the official start of the Pennine Way. Lots of country walks in the Peak District
