The booked table we were assigned for our party of 7 was too small. We were given a bench seat and 3 chairs. When one of our party went to get another chair she was snapped at by the waitress and told that we couldn’t have another chair as she needed. it. There was plenty of room for another chair at the other side of the table. This resulted in 4 adults squashed onto an enclosed bench, the table did not reach the end person making it impossible for her to eat anything. This was a special occasion and unfortunately the attitude and rudeness of the staff member spoiled our experience. I can honestly say that I have never been spoken to in such a manner by waiting staff when out for a meal.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Coffee and tea was just as we like it, nice and strong and hot! We even got free biscuits. Will try food next time. Keep up the good work 👍🏻☕

I came in specially, with friends for afternoon tea, as I'd heard so many good things. I was definitely NOT disappointed. What an amazing spread. One a year Ritz is ok, but coming here every month, priceless. Also alongside afternoon tea, additions included. Truly worth more, but no jacket and tie needed(Ritz).

Lovely venue and great cakes and sandwiches. They really made us feel special.

Booked afternoon tea for a family gathering and were absolutely delighted with the food and service, the atmosphere was fantastic so calm and relaxed. If you’re in the area and want quality and good service please give them a try.

First time in the secret tearooms, beautiful place, lovely staff, and brilliant poached eggs, on toast, with yolk oozing out. A must visit anytime you are in Brighouse.

One of the best cafes ever been in. If you come to Brighouse, a must visit. On Bethel Street near the main park. I did my usual test, poached eggs on toast. Absolutely perfect. Great service and some lovely people to chat to 😁

Change your sign to open until 4:30pm stop serving at 4pm. Visited yesterday with my elderly Dad, who uses a zimmer. He was elated to have managed the 2 steps into the Tearooms via the front entrance (the rear entrance is cobbled and too steep for many people with mobility issues). He spotted the lush cakes on display and wanted a cup of tea and a slice of chocolate cake. I was assisting my Dad into the booth closest to the door when we were approached and told the coffee machine had been cleaned!? Scratching my head here.... It's 4pm you don't close until 4:30pm!@?! Three customers in the tearooms and didn't want to dampen their experience, so we silently left. Holding the door helping my Dad back down the two steps with no offer of I'll hold the door... No customer service. The previous owner couldn't do enough for you. The new owners need to take a leaf out of their book.

Beautiful.meal and hands down best scones I've ever had

Took my mum for afternoon tea, she loved it. Mum has very simple tastes and when booking I requested no sauces or chutneys on the sandwiches and a plain scone no currants or raisins, all were made as requested they even made two plain scones that morning while making fruit scones. Will definitely return. Thank you to the wonderful staff that made it a lovely afternoon.

Don’t be fooled by the small shopfront it’s like a tardis inside. Lots of different levels, steps up & down to plenty of tables. Something for everyone on the menu, we had vegetarian breakfast, scrambled eggs & bacon, cheese on toast. All agreed food is excellent, well presented and super tasty. Best cheese on toast I’ve ever had, loads of melted cheese on 2 slices of brown bread. Customer Service is excellent, I was given little scissors to open the brown sauce sachets without asking.

This tea room is exceptional for gluten free, I had the choice of 4 cakes today, I chose coffee and walnut to go with the excellent americano coffee.

I have visited today with my 2 daughters for a late Xmas present. The staff are amazing and so friendly . Gorgeous decorated and clean . We had the afternoon tea for the 3 of us . All I can say is wow . We started off with a portion of leek and potato home made soup and a cheese scone .. The sandwiches were made with such fresh bread and ingredients . We had a choice of tuna and cucumber , chicken , ham , cheese . In a mixture of brown and white bread . And now the desserts . !!!! Cream scone with jam , brownies , macaroons , orange sponge /cake , coconut slice and a lemon cream mousse . We couldn’t even attempt to eat it all as it was so lovely but so filling . The lovely staff brought us some boxes to box all the remaining items . I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have been to and will defo be visiting more frequently. Thankyou for a lovely time and gorgeous food .

Great place. They've always been very welcoming. They were good at being in contact when I booked for a group. The food is large and tasty - breakfast is great and the cakes are delicious. There are vegan options and the downstairs has a lovely fire - so cute.

After reading the great reviews I had booked it for myself and my mum ..I was not overly impressed ..I’ve paid a lot less and had a lot nicer …one small cup of coffee ..had to pay for another cup …I think the price you pay for what you get is not worth it ..would not return ..

My husband & I tried this tea room on Sat 2nd Sept without booking & were lucky to get a table straight away, there's several rooms on 2 levels. The decor was very cute & a mix of oldey worldy & pretty bunting etc. The staff were really friendly & helpful, my husband doesn't often give a tip when paying but he wanted to show his appreciation here ! The menu was quite extensive, ranging from breakfasts till 12 noon, to sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, salads, daily specials, hot meals & cakes etc. You could also book afternoon teas in advance. My husband loved his homemade mushroom & tarragon soup with toasted panini, he thought it was 1 of the tastiest soups he's ever had. My ham sandwiches were on lovely, fresh thick bread & the ham was quality & home done, they came with salad & a pot of posh crisps, it was really filling & my husband had to help me finish it off. We really enjoyed our lunch at the Secret Tearoom & would recommend it to anyone, we will definitely return, thank you for a lovely visit.

Never been before but a lovely tea room. I gad coffee and a scone with jam and cream . It was lovely. The service was spot on too.

I had lunch at The Secret Tea Rooms while visiting Brighouse and I enjoyed it so much that I booked to come back for one of their Afternoon Teas. The menu offers a good, varied choice. The food is excellent and so is the service. The place has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere and the staff are friendly, pleasant and helpful. Their Afternoon Tea is delicious and I would definitely recommend it. Thank you for making both my visits so enjoyable.

Fabulous food and service, price reflects the experience but charge extra for oat milk and also marmalade with toast. At £3.50 for a medium americana, wouldn't expect to pay extra for a bit of oat milk.

Had the absolute best afternoon tea today at the Secret Tearoom. The food was delicious and plentiful. Beautiful ambient surroundings and lovely staff who made us feel both welcome and valued. Highly recommended

Michelle has arranged for afternoon tea to be delivered to my mum and aunts on several occasions and they have been very impressed every time. After hearing great feedback from both my mum and my auntie who have been of a number of occasions and mentioned that The Secret Tea Rooms offer gluten free options, I was absolutely delighted to try this little place out. Visited to take my mum for a little mother's day treat. At first it seemed really quiet and the back tables on the ground floor weren't available due to bookings, so instantly knew it was popular. Thankfully one of the tables by the counter was available as the other option was to go upstairs, but due to mobility issues it would have been really difficult for me. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful despite the clear pressure they must have felt due to so many customers arriving at once and the food was great. It was so nice and refreshing to be able to walk into a cafe and to have at least a decent choice of gluten free options rather than some places who either don't offer anything or the smallest brownie at a ridiculous price. Was also amazed at the portion sizes and how reasonably priced the gluten free sausage sandwich was. Will definitely be returning and spreading the word.

What more can you ask for - very good food (a special shout-out for the prawn sandwiches) and excellent service. Nothing is too much trouble for the cheery staff.

Having had s few afternoon teas , the soup was a nice touch . Everything was lovely . The only things that I can fault is the charging of extra for another tea and coffee that should have been included in the price . That pushed the price up considerably. And my friend and I was placed in a position where my friend was directing people to where the toilets were. No visible sign telling you . Leading to people confused about where to go

I have had lunch (with friends) at this establishment over the last 2 years which always retains the same relaxing atmosphere with top class table service. There are varied menu choices, including afternoon tea, if desired. The food is always tasty and plentiful. A must to visit when in Brighouse.

Pleasant stroll with my friend and her baby 10 month old granddaughter in a pram . We called here and asked if it was ok to bring in a pram. No problem with a couple of minutes a table was found For brunch we had poached eggs in wholemeal sourdough I had mine with pancetta and my friends had smoked salmon. They both came with a handful of rocket leaves. We had two coffees each . £28.80 in total Fab food (just wish the poached eggs had been runny) but taste was perfect It filled the spot and we’ll be back . Next time I’ll ask for no rocket and my eggs to be cooked runny

Me and my daughter visited this cafe a couple weeks ago had a lovely afternoon tea was shown up stairs and it was like going back in time just like an old fashioned little tea room but its not a little one to me it looked very vintage looking which i loved and the upstairs where we were sat was very quaint and the ladies that served us was really nice and we werent waiting long for the tea and food highly recommend this tea room if you want a nice afternoon tea

After having a lovely lunch in the cafe last week, I ordered Afternoon Tea to be delivered today for my aunt and me. It was beautiful! The sandwiches were delicious with a large selection of cakes to finish off with. Enough left over for tomorrow's lunch. ONE TO RECOMMEND

We had another lovely lunch here today,ordering the home made stew and potatoes. The portions are generous and well presented Would recommend the chilli nachos,. The staff are always so friendly and helpful,my friends travel to Brighouse from Guisley and always want to come here.

I feel rather blessed to have such a positive and cozy tea rooms on my doorstep... I visit quite regularly and love taking friends there for tea and cakes or something a bit more filling. Most recently I took a friend of mine for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The eggs benedict we both had were delicious and service is always excellent with such hard working staff and a very "welcome home" feel. I enjoy introducing people to this place because it has a rather unique atmosphere with an almost TARDIS like "bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside" effect, with plenty of seating but always feeling like you have some privacy for your conversations.

Great venue, attentive staff and home made scones made on the premises

Was shown to a table, then left to look at the menu. We then waited 15minutes, nobody came back to ask us what we would like. Eventually got fed up of waiting so left. On the way out none of the staff acknowledged us as we passed the counter, or said goodbye/thank you as we reached the door. Really disappointed as the menu and cakes looked really good. looked really nice.

Visited today and the visit exceeded my expectations, Great service with immaculate surroundings. The soup, cheese scones followed by the tiers of finger sandwiches and goodies washed down with a silver service pot of tea for two was quite lovely. Terrific value for money too...

First visit for Afternoon Tea - expect this to be the first of many. Soup (delicious), various sandwiches ( all very tasty) Cheesecake (superb), Cream Scone ( yummy), various cakes (all very moorish) and super pot of tea. Very disappointed 😢 Brought my God mother and husband for festive afternoon tea !! Pea and mint soup to start - not a favourite of everyone I’m sure !! Sandwiches were lovely no complaints there ! But then.... bought in chocolate roll... bought in mince pies... bought in biscuits... bought in Christmas cake ... the only home made cake was the scone - surly afternoon tea should be home made cakes, or is that just me could have bought the cakes from Asda for a third of the price !!

An absolutely delightful cafe. I met a friend there this morning. She had two pots of lovely tea, I had two delicious flavoured lattes and we shared a very nice toasted teacake. I heartily recommend the Secret Tea Rooms.

I don't like to leave negative reviews, but £5+ for Avocado Smash to Takeaway seems a bit... EXPENSIVE! I thought (hoped) it would have come with a Salad. The Bread was OK, a bit too "Doorsteppy" for me and the Avocado wasn't particularly Seasoned. Don't get me wrong, I know we have all been Affected by Covid but I'm sure the price of Bread and Salad hasn't gone up that much! My partner even went to the Chippy and was back before mine was even Ready! The Waitress handed me my Box and walked off. I could have just walked away without Paying (I was tempted) but I'm not like that. So I waited patiently until the Staff Noticed me. Also, it wasn't clear on what was Vegan or Vegetarian...What we guessed was Veggie was very limited to Cheese... Not great for Vegans. It wasn't really clear whether the Takeaway Menu was the same as the Dine In Menu either. I couldn't see any Other Menus to Determine whether we could Dine In (Us being both Veggie)...

Called in to this very busy tearoom, we where seated very quickly food was really good, (make sure your Hungary if you order the club sandwich) Could not fault the food or service we would certainly recommend this neat little tea room
