Not the best selection of drinks, and the inside is quite run down, all the chairs are different from each other and look quite old, same with the paintwork/decorations. Staff was nice though and dogs were allowed in which although we didn't have ours with us, was always nice to see!

This is a decent traditional multi spaced pub which, although slightly out of town is still only a four minute walk north of Halifax train station. We utilised it as the first stop and meeting place for the Pubs Galore crawl and it was reassuring busy when we rucked up early Friday lunchtime, or at least due to the fantastic sunny weather, the outside patio area to the front of the pub was. Internally it’s a front bar room with two additional rooms to the right, one carpeted and one with a flagstone floor. Six hand pumps on the bar with one unused and TT Landlord, Saltaire Blonde, Acorn Brewery Barnsley Bitter and Titanic Brewery Plum Porter available on the others. The fifth was badged with with TT Landlord Dark but had a small ‘coming soon sign’ in front of it, so it was unclear if it was on or not and as I only had eyes for the Plum Porter. Some impressive serving behind the jump to handle the queue we had generated which included the barmaid nipping down to the cellar to change the TT Landlord barrel mid pint for the round in front of us. All in all I thought this was a very good pub and an ideal start or end to a crawl when visiting Halifax by train.

Avoid thus pub. An initially Friendly girl working when I went, but avoid it, toilets were disgusting , the place wasn't clean or had its floors mopped. Only 3 ales on when it had 6 pumps. The beer was off, when I pointed this out the girl said nothing, then as I said I was leaving she said I'll change the barrel without even tasting it to see if it was off !! Therefore she probably knew it was already off !! Avoid

It's not a restaurant hence the empty rating for food because there is none. For the other aspects it gets 5 so effortlessly that it makes the star system almost redundant. The array of well kept ales is not quite as expansive as The Royal Oak but it makes little difference. The pub has a beautiful light which drifts or streams in depending on the weather; and light, to me, can make or break a pub. But here it's lovely, whether it's packed or just a couple of old boys enjoying a peaceful pint. Very friendly and efficient service, always welcoming and warm which is how a pub should be.

This place is disgraceful. Forces staff to work on zero hours contracts and then discards them with no explanation. Do they not realise people have kids to feed and rent to pay. Disgusting way to treat people. Don't encourage this by giving them your hard earned money.

Absolutely fantastic stay it was a perfect location and a 2 min walk from peace hall …. The pub is very old with a lot of history it’s very interesting to hear . It has a great selection on beers and drinks and amazing pork pies . The rooms are tastefully decorated with very comfy beds and spacious rooms . There is 4 rooms in the pub with one shared huge bathroom with a shower and bath ….it was never a problem having a shared bathroom it seemed to work between all us guest and never a problem . Also had a huge kitchen to make tea / coffee cook breakfast …. All utensils were available to use . The two girls on shift while we stayed were Kira I think and Ellena who were such a delight and very helpful . I would highly recommend staying here it felt home from home . Great prices per night to . We can’t wait to come back .

Great little pub. Aptly named as it's next door to the Minster. As I walked in, I heard "bells were ringing out" from Fairytale of New York, while bells at the Minster were in full peal, a triple bell experience! These 2 beers were available for anyone liking their beer dark and sweet. Other beers included Staropramen. No food on offer except crisps etc.

Phoned before I booked to check i could have a quiet room, not overlooking a road. Told yes, most rooms at the back Arrived and given room at the front, over looking road and train line which you could clearly hear.. About 7 guys right under my window really loud as seats under my window outside front of pub and one window didnt close. Went to ask about changing the room and also about WiFi. But felt odd as when walking to bar, everyone turns, stops talking, listening in. So just asked for WiFi password for now. Went back to the room. 3 different options for pub WiFi. Not one of them worked. Went back down to ask again and asked my guys at the bar if I was from London as complaining. Steve, the guy managing the place said he had no idea about Internet and couldn't help. Still didnt ask about the room as felt I couldn't right then. When pub closed, I asked to change room. Finally gave me a room at the back. Then said he was closing up and going home. I asked who else was in the building. He said noone except me as noone lives or works on premises over night. I would never have booked if I had known I would be the only person there from pub closing time. I asked who to contact if a problem and he said he didnt know. Then said he would give me his mobile no. 5 mins later I contacted him as still no WiFi and no TV remote. No response. Also I asked him when in new room, where a locked door in my room led too as was really worried someone could enter from the other side. He said he had no idea. No response when I contacted him. I felt completely vulnerable there and just after 11pm I left and found another place. The next day I got a message from him saying "sorry, I went home to bed". - but I had contacted 5 mins after he gave me the key to the new room. And also - gave me a number noone was going to answer even if I really needed to. I dont know about food as didn't eat here.

Ring O' Bells is a proper pub which oozes its 400 year old legacy. You'll find an equally warm welcome from both bar staff and regular patrons. Nestled on the outskirts of the town with the historic Halifax Minster as a most atmospheric backdrop, The Ring O' Bells is a real ale drinkers paradise with a constant variety of quality, ever changing award winning beers. Lager drinkers can take comfort with the reliable, premium Staropramun on offer. This place is marvellous. What raises it above the bar, for me, however, is the outstanding music playlist which provides a most epic soundtrack for the surroundings (inside the bar and beer garden areas.) I went at lunchtime today with some colleagues from work and Come Together by Primal Scream was just one of the legendary tracks played during my lunchtime pint. If there was ever a pub that deserved support and patronage in Halifax, then The Ring O' Bells is it. Cazart!
