This is a lovely little cafe. Had a couple of visits in the last week. Lots of choice on the menu and reasonable prices. The only problem is it needs better organisation. We waited over twenty minutes for some cakes today, after we'd spent a lot in the cafe a bit earlier. When we eventually got the cakes the one my daughter had ordered had all been sold. They need a better system. A separate system for eat in and eat out would be a start. Shame really because a lot of people were disappointed and you'll probably lose customers despite staff being lovely and polite.

Utter chaos! No one in charge, shambolic from start to finish. Our order taken but only three of four items arrived as it "hadn't been passed to the kitchen". I ordered a Mocha, it arrived spilt with the spoon in the cup; I never did see my cheese & ham toasted sandwich... Orders pinned to shelf and all over counter, nothing being processed despite so many staff they were tripping over themselves; needs Gordon Ramsey to sort it out. Others in our group experienced the same mayhem - avoid at all costs!

First visit here. Brunch was in an upstairs function room, no toilets up there, only outside at the end of the building. Not sure if there is a lift. Young staff looked like they lacked confidence, I had to ask for hot drink as they hadn’t waited until everyone was seated on arrival. It was lukewarm. Food was ok but too much sweet stuff with no sausage roll or quiche. No dessert cutlery provided.

A highlight of a trip to Elsham is the tearoom.being a coeliac finding gluten free cakes is very difficult. The cakes at the Secret Garden are excellent and the service is fantastic. It was therefore really disappointing to ask for the gluten free option only to be informed that there wasn’t one. They would do one for the afternoon. The millionaire short bread is a poor substitute. Please could you remember to have any gluten free cake available at all times. I heard 3 people ask for it and 2 of these walked away without using the tearoom. It is a small request but continually being left with no gluten free options at many caffès is hard.

We booked this venue for a surprise Baby Shower for my daughter, as she was married at Elsham-afternoon tea for friends and family. The service was excellent, staff couldn’t have been more helpful-and the tables were decorated and each table setting had a quiz about babies . The food was delicious , still warm scones , sandwiches with salad and coleslaw and cakes , including lemon drizzle and a scrumptious cup cake , tea and coffee was plentiful and we were supplied with containers to take home anything we couldn’t eat . All in all we had a lovely afternoon with special thanks to the staff who helped us to spring the surprise 😁

Everything was excellent, the staff were friendly and attentive, food (halloumi panini with home made coleslaw) and coffee first class. The setting is lovely, up a long drive past fields of sheep. We looked out onto the stable courtyard which was attractive even on a rainy day in October. The tables are well spaced compared to most cafes. I will definitely be returning, apparently it’s wise to book. Stunning autumnal flower arrangements in pumpkins were dotted about. Prices are very reasonable and plenty of choice on the menu.

This looked like a lovely little tearoom but everything else was terrible. The service was incredibly inefficient. There was a large queue but despite three staff behind the counter, they only took one order at once - not one each - and seemed to have no notion of the queue. The menu had stated to ask the servers about vegan dishes so I did. She pointed to the stack where I’d just put the menu back and said “There’s a menu right there”. We finally ordered beans on toast with a vegan sausage roll and a coffee each. This came to over £18. The food came on a side plate with just one slice of bread, barely toasted, lukewarm beans and the sausage roll wasn’t even warm. It was a lot of money for a kid-sized portion. If we hadn’t been so hungry I would’ve left the food, asked for a refund and gone elsewhere.

When looking on Google I thought the secret garden tearooms would be a nice place to go for our wedding anniversary whilst we were visiting Brigg. We were seated inside and ordered a cheese scone and the soup of the day plus two soft drinks, after a couple of minutes the cheese scone arrived which I could tell straight away it had been re heated, as there was steam coming from it when I cut into it, after about 15 minutes I asked where the soup was that I had ordered and the waitress said she would go and find out. About 5 minutes passed and she came back and told me that the soup is made separately and comes at a different time to any other order, we waited another 15 mins and I went to the till and spoke to whom I assumed was the manageress, who abruptly told that the soup is made separately to any order I said why was this not explained at the point of ordering. I suspect they had just forgot to make the soup as as soon as I asked for my money back the soup was on the way out of the kitchen. A very disappointing experience for somewhere that was recommended to us by other local businesses in Brigg these businesses were also shocked at what had happened. Would I go again No, I would use the Brigg garden centre which is amazing by the way with lots to do with the kids.

Not to be recommended. Arrived for Afternoon Tea, had to wait in almost empty restaurant for a table to be wiped. Waitress came to table for drinks order, usually all the Tea Rooms we visit you get a pot of tea/cafetiere, I got a mug of coffee. Waited for her to ask which sandwiches we required, nope, you get what you get a standard no where else do I know this. When two of four quarters came I could not eat, so I asked about this only to be told we were asked when booking for dietery requirements. Mine is choice so having thought they were referring to gluten, etc. had not made comment. Attitude verbally from waitress "well we have many customers who like our Afternoon Tea". Be aware customers you get what you get and have to be glad of it.

Called in at lunch time, we both had jacket potato with coronation chicken, super service. The coronation chicken was delicious and the sauce was a nice pale yellow colour, not the hideous bright yellow that looks like radioactive waste. The potato was cooked through and not raw in the middle with a nice brown cooked skin without being hard and burnt. Lovely pot of tea for two, that you could poor without it spilling everywhere. (why can't all teapots poor properly without it coming out of the lid) Highly recommended

I received a voucher as a gift for afternoon tea for two just before covid hit and lockdown restrictions were imposed. The voucher expired earlier on this year having not been able to use it due to covid restrictions. I assumed that I should contact to book once restrictions were lifted thinking that booking might finally be a possibility, and upon doing so was told that the voucher would no longer be valid because I had failed to contact the tea room before the voucher expired and this was whilst everything was closed! The lady I spoke to said she'd check with the owners but I was told not to hold my breath. I left my number and was told to expect a call back - the call never came. Very disappointed.

Good quality, excellent friendly service, all at a very reasonable price. After we were shown to our table, a large pot of tea was brought soon after. My daughter and I had four cups of tea each from this pot and it was not quite empty. The staff were friendly and efficient. The bottom platter consisted of four mixed sandwiches: tuna, ham, cheese and egg plus a fresh crisp salad, a small pot of tasty onion chutney and plain crisps. The bread was soft and fresh. The top layer had a large piece of red velvet cake, a sultana scone with a generous serving of Cornish cream and strawberry jam and a brownie square all garnished with strawberries and an orange segment. The food was delicious and filling. I would heartily recommend this place, I will definitely return. I thought it was excellent value for money.

Took my neighbour for an impromptu lunch here after booking a Brownie party in at the Mad as a Potter painting studio (same location) We decided to have sandwiches, ham on brown & cheese on brown - both plates arrived heaving with what most places would deem to be a main course sized salad whilst here it was just a garnish!! Homemade coleslaw and a dinky jam pot filled with chutney topped off the display quirkily served on mismatched china. One coffee freshly made and one pot of tea completed the ensemble with a thoughtful extra pot of hot water for the tea. Definitely well worth a visit and you may even have a visit from one of the peacocks.

I visited this place with my friend & 3 young children. It was quite a cold day, but there was no heating on & it felt quite cold inside this tearoom. Despite this the tearoom was very welcoming & was decorated lovely. We had afternoon tea which cost £8. For that price we got unlimited tea or coffee, 4 squares of sandwiches, a few crisps, salad, coleslaw served in a miniature teacup, a slice of lemon cake, a miniature chocolate brownie, fruit scone with jam & cream and fresh strawberries, all served on a 2 tier cake stand. The bread used for the sandwiches was delicious, very soft & fresh. The lemon cake was a bit dry, but the scone was nice. The children had a kids meal, sandwiches, crisps, raisins & a drink. The day we were there they had ran out of the boxes the kids meal is normally served in, so it was brought on a plate. It cost £3.50 & my kids seemed to enjoy it. It would of been nice to have some cakes suitable for children, like little fairy buns, but there were only large slices of cake available. So my children were a bit disappointed that they never got a cake. But I'm sure at weekends & school holidays these would be available. They did have some toys, colouring pictures & crayons available to keep children entertained though, which was a nice touch. We will definitely be returning to this tearoom, probably on a a warmer day though. But £8 for such a lovely afternoon tea was great value.

As a group of 4 friends who hadn't seen each other for a while, we were looking forward to visiting the Soho Secret Tea Room and enjoying afternoon tea. On arrival we sat at a very cramped table with a sticky tablecloth. When our tea came we weren't given individual teas, but two, one to share between two. This is fair enough but the teas were not identical!! This was very disappointing. There was one big piece of cake and one smaller one which we had to share as we wanted to try both. The sandwiches were tasteless and had too much butter/margarine. When we left the staff didn't even say goodbye. There was no atmosphere in there. When I visited about 4 years ago it was so much nicer with friendly staff. Never again!

Menu limited margarine covered sandwiches or pannini's ham, cheese or tuna. Service slow, expensive.

I visited this cafe when it first opened and I could see the potential. It is in a beautiful setting and a lot of effort has gone into the decor.

Visited with my family, but was disappointed, cramped & unclean. We ordered afternoon tea, not one was the same, the sandwiches was supposed to be ginger sandwiches, not squares, cheap white bread, couldn't taste the egg from all the margarine, cheese & tuna filling was very minimal and the game was plastic, at least the side salad was fresh, carrot cake was more like a bitter ginger cake and not sure was the filling was, not like a carrot cake I have ever had, the other cake I believe was lemon as the icing smelt if this but the cake looked uncooked. I couldn't bring myself to eat the scone, just looked cheap shop bought, the pot of tea was nice, but the coffee just came in a tall chipped late glass, plate was dirty and when replaced the other was too. Waitress just passed the plates around Knapkins didn't look fresh.

We booked last week for afternoon tea for two (and my 20month old) We arrived quite early on the Friday and the tea room was already busy, despite that the service was great there was hardly a wait and the staff were lovely and very accomodating to my daughter aswell as myself and my friend. Already looking forward to our next afternoon tea.

The Secret Garden Tearoom is without a doubt one of the friendliest and most helpful places I have had the fortune of visiting. My Mum and Dad came up from Essex for a long weekend stay and we decided to pay Elsham Hall a visit and grab a spot of lunch whist we were there.

We visited The Secret Garden tearooms today for the first time.....such a success!! On my own with 2 young children, I was struggling to think of somewhere to take them where they'd enjoy the food, have a memorable time and we could enjoy some special family time together.....this place was perfect!! The lovely ladies in there were so welcoming and got us a lovely table overlooking the beautiful carousel ride outside. We then ordered 2 children's boxes which could be tailored to the children's preferences and a panini for myself. The food was freshly made, lovely quality and there wasn't a bit left at the end, which is always a good sign! My daughter even asked for seconds, which is unheard of! The afternoon teas looked incredibly tempting and seemed very popular, so I'll definitely be back to sample them another day! All in all, a lovely lunch with great service, in a perfect setting - do visit the park at Elsham Hall afterwards, it's a delight!

It was a bit of a surprise to discover that the food would be boxed, but even so it was a tasty tea. Apparently the reason for the boxes was because the gardens were busy. The cost of £8 was reasonable, but not sure if that was just for the day. Will return when not busy.

This Tearoom serves a great afternoon tea... It is what I call a "proper" afternoon tea, with lovely fresh food served on individual cake stands, with plenty of crisps, side salad and seasonal coleslaw! We all brought home a "doggy" bag! There is plenty of room and we had a room all to ourselves on comfy chairs. In good weather there are also plenty of outside tables. It is well worth a visit!

Had pre ordered the afternoon tea which was very enjoyable and great value. It's now served per person so you get a cake stand with a mix of sandwiches, crisps, coleslaw and salad at the bottom, and a scone/jam/cream, a brownie, a slice of cake and a few strawberries on the top tier. I didn't look at the menu as having been before and had the afternoon tea I knew I wanted it again! The teapot was regularly refilled and I've no complaints about the food or the service.

The first impression was of a strong smell of frying although there was nothing on the menu that explained the smell. Plastic table cloths in one room and uncovered tables in the other. Leaves blown in from the courtyard. Message written on the fridge in black marker pen reminding the staff to wash the lettuce. Lack of choice on the menu. If you did not want bread/panini's for a meal then you would struggle to find anything. On the positive the staff were welcoming and friendly. It is ok for a quick meal if your main reason for your visit is to visit Elsham Hall grounds, particularly if you have children.

My family & I stumbled across this fabulous find.... Cafe Jazz, located nearby Primark in Scunthorpe town centre. The menu has standard cafe dishes & all made from scratch says Sam, the lovely friendly owner. I opted for ‘full works’ breakfast which was really tasty & included Lincolnshire sausages & a generous serving of black pudding! The breakfast included a coffee & was amazing value for money! Well worth a visit when your planning a shopping trip to the town centre! Thanks Sam & team! And thank you for the COVID safe environment! We appreciated it.

Really shocked at the level of service we received yesterday. Visited with our 10 month old baby. Ordered a breakfast and a beans on toast to be told it was a half an hour wait, no problem sat outside it was a lovely day. After an hour wait we went back in to find where our food was to be told it was a further 20 minute wait (they hadn't started making it) & that we could have a refund if we wanted. I asked for a refund as we simply couldn't expect our baby to wait longer. They told us they would only refund the food and not the drinks as we had drunk them. Yes we drank them an hour ago while waiting for our breakfast. Eventually they did refund the whole order which I was grateful for but having ruined our morning out & then had to argue for a full refund it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Had someone come out after 30 mins after our order and let us know that they were completely running behind and perhaps offered us a complimentary drink the whole situation could have been handled differently. I didn't think in this day and age people could offer such shoddy service.
