Stayed for work, Steve and team friendly, food A+, lager cold. Room clean, bed comfortable, after a long days work everything you need. Unfortunately I started too early for breakfast but if the evening meal was anything to go bye I missed out.

A gem of a good old school pub to the front of the building and then a lovely restaurant to the rear. I can’t comment on the rooms as I’ve never stayed Great choice of beverages to suit anyone The food is lovely and plentiful and reasonably priced. The staff are very welcoming and friendly Steven (owner), Faye, and Amy thank you!! We have returned many times over the last two years without disappointment.

We just had our Easter Sunday Lunch in the restaurant. Our waitress was attentive and greeted us on arriving She told us when she handed us our menus of the couple items that were not available to order. Which is a refreshing change, usually you find when you ask for it. It wasn't rushed and intervals between each course were just right. Food was cooked nicely, not overcooked and plenty of it. Price was reasonable. Menu choice was good. Restaurant is very nicely furnished Had another Sunday Lunch at the Black Bull Inn. Food really is very consistent. It's hot, tasty and plenty off it. Service equally just as good. Would certainly recommend eating here when food is served.

Well it is the only pub in the village . Nice and friendly .

Amazing friendly warm welcome. Visited a few times now as family moved into village . Atmosphere is so warm and cosy makes you want to linger . Great banter from owners , go as a customer certainly leave as a friend . Good food lovely and plentiful . Well worth a stay when in area .

Not stay here was at a wedding reception in the garden. I must give a call out for Fay this lady went all out and really looked after us.

We popped in for a few drinks as we were staying in the area. We didn't eat and it was a wet day but we were very impressed with the warm welcome we received. I would definitely stop in again if I'm in the area.

Great food great service go back time and time again

This place has changed for the better over the years I've been staying, the rooms have been modernised and everywhere has been spruced up. The bar side is welcoming and warmed in winter by a huge log burner. The restaurant is plush and the food very good which ever side of the hotel you eat. The beer garden is huge and well maintained, lots for kids to do. WIFI works well all over the hotel.

I visited on a Tuesday evening for a meal. The restaurant was quiet but the staff were very welcoming. I was given enough time to decide what I wanted from the menu and my eyes were already drawn to the sweets but alas I didn't get to try one. The main course was excellent and cooked just the way I wanted it, however, although I thought that I was hungry when I went in I was obviously not hungry enough, I couldn't finish it but the quality of the food kept making me eat more. I gave up in the end defeated by the portion size. I did mention the portion size and also heard other diners say that there was too much for them. Quality and price I can't praise enough, but smaller portions please

I recently stayed for a week due to business, the accommodation was excellent and staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. A special mention to Steve and Joanne, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you!

Went here with friends we found the food to really good 1 had ploughman’s lunch which she said was very good 1 had the you fat burger which was massive and tasted very good but very filling so he couldn’t eat it all ,1 had ribeye which was also very good , I had sirloin which came with chips tomato mushroom and peas it was very good and cooked to my liking , the staff did come and explain they is a wait for the food as it’s all cooked fresh and to be fair we didn’t wait that long , the meals are of reasonable price , the restaurant decoration is very nicely done too , don’t take notice of the car park (yes does look abit neglected but you don’t eat out there , we for sure will be back it’s a little gem of a place

1st time I've been here for years & I have to say the food was delicious, I'm very fussy when it comes to steaks & the Rib eye was perfect, would recommend this .

After reading some bad reviews, I thought we would give the Black Bull Inn a try as it has now been renovated and recent reviews I read are better, the pub from outside looks bit uninviting as the car park had lots of rubbish lying around i e furniture broken garden ornaments etc, the garden area looked nice with lots of play equipment for children shame the weather was not better as would have sat in the garden, Me and my husband went on a Saturday evening the restaurant was quiet with lots of empty tables? Upon entering we were greeted by a young girl she was very friendly and smiley ,and was happy to answer all our questions regarding the gluten free options as my husband has coeliac , she checked with the chef when we queried a few things on menu ,we both had a diet coke from the tap not much flavour bit gassy so not sure if the barrel was getting low ?My husband decided to have the gluten free fish and chips and I chose the beef burger. We did have to wait a while until our food arrived , but to be fair it was worth the wait the fish was enormous and the chips were lovely, my burger had the most lovely flavour really impressed with the flavours and portion size had a job to eat it all . After eating that huge meal I decided to look at the dessert menu I went for the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream as its my all time favourite , when the pudding arrived I was very disappointed with the portion size of the sticky toffee pudding it was the most smallest piece I have ever seen it was a small square with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream not sure if the kitchen was getting low on the sticky toffee pudding shame I did not take a pictures ,I think realistically I paid £4.95 for 2 scoops of ice cream really, but I was not disappointed with the flavours of the pudding the ice cream had white chocolate shavings in real shame that the pudding was rubbish portion size, it has not put me off visiting the pub again but next time no pudding though shame as I look forward to my desserts .

Was staying at the Ashbourne Hotel in North Killingholme and as this was the only pub within walking distance I dined here 2 nights. Starters not great - tampura prawns swimming in olive oil chicken wings under cooked. Main course fair and prices reasonable.

Not to my liking. Was part of a group and they had obviously struggled to serve us all at the same time without supplying overcooked or slightly cold food. The owner is really trying hard though and the service was friendly.

We visited the Black Bull for the first time for perhaps two years..... and the transformation is amazing. The restaurant area is pleasing on the eye - it has been decorated well and the general ambiance of the eating area is so much better than on our previous visit. Perhaps more importantly the menu choices were good. The food was well presented and flavoursome - it is now like eating at a restaurant rather than eating “pub food”. Will definitely use the restaurant again soon.

Came up for a family wedding from Plymouthome. Went to the Black Bull for Christmas lunch. The place was lovely and cosy. The food was lovely nothing was too much trouble. Excellent service. The staff very was friendly and helpful well done making our vist so wonderful.

What a great place to stay i had really warm welcome by the hosts and staff .bar and restaurant are really nice it has a lovley big garden at the back with children's play area. My room is clean and cosey redecorated as is the bath room. I had a meal deal ..food and a pint for a tenner it was delicious just what I needed after a 14 hr day ..i highly recommend this place

This was my first visit as I was in town visiting friends. The inside has been newly decorated to an excellent standard. The menu had a good selection and fairly priced. I ordered a burger my friends went with steak on a stone. The steak comes out raw served on a red hot stone and you can cook it to your own taste. Friendly staff and they made us aware of the theme nights, the medieval banquet sounds very good. I had a good time and will be happy to eat there in the future.

Never ever ever ever would I grace the establishment with my presence or my money again 2 Fish cakes and salad x 2 and veg to share and a drink each £28 One fish cake each arrived on a plate with nothing else. The we had to ask for the salad which looked like it had been thrown together by a 2 year old and we had to share that . The veg was ok and the 2nd fish cake arrived after we had finished the 1st one No condiments and the the cutlery was dirty !!!! Shocking !!!!

From the outside this inn hasn't changed in years, inside is a very different story. To keep it short the food is very reasonably priced, freshly cooked and extremely good. I heartily recommend it.

Ignore the outside appearance of the building and take a step inside - you won't be disappointed. Elegant and tasteful decoration create a relaxing atmosphere in which to enjoy any social gathering, big or small. The management and staff are warm and friendly too. Food is excellent. Looking forward to spring/summer and relaxing in the garden area.

Had a fantastic meal at the black Bull in East Halton, anyone looking for a really great meal at a great price should try this place, new owners have spent a fortune turning this into a lovely pub/ restaurant, very welcoming and friendly, food prepared and cooked by a personal friend and excellent chef Gordon , kids welcome with play area outside too! Just got back from a Sunday Lunch at the Black Bull, East Halton. We decided to try it after my husband saw images of the inside in the internet, it was clear lots of work had been done it looked great, and it was! The layout is super and deco a great mix of modern with lovely antique furnishings dotted about. They are still making improvements so will just get better. It is immaculate and airy with tables not packed in so nice and private. Great start, then the food arrived and it was beautifully presented and tasted AMAZING. Great menu with fresh local ingredients, we went for a tradition Sunday lunch which was superb but as the menu looked so good will try the fish next time, it is too easy to go for the same meal when you have enjoyed it so much! Staff and owners are all very welcoming, friendly and attentive, we really enjoyed our afternoon so thank you. We will definitely be back. Give it a go you really will not be disappointed, a real gem!

Un poco decepcionado por tener que esperar una hora para la comida a la mesa, y el restaurante estaba bastante fría, sin calefacción, lo que hizo incómoda sentarte. Cuando la comida llegó, fue muy agradable, pero no prisa en volver.

Sábado por la noche visitó por primera vez y tristemente no volvería basado en nuestra experiencia. Tengo que decir que la señorita que cuidó de nosotros, era muy agradable, servicial y agradable, por desgracia la espera y la calidad de la comida fue un poco decepcionante. La comida era muy grasosa, pero seca, el pollo kiev no gusto de ajo, el gamon era muy 'wet' con agua/grasa inundando el plato y las patatas fritas eran muy hecha y seca. Después de leer algunos comentarios de gran pasado pensamos en darle una oportunidad y me decepcionó que no estuvo a la altura de las expectativas.

La comida estaba bien, pero me quedé muy decepcionado. Esto fue porque en el menú decía el bistec con patatas fritas, sin embargo, vino llegó con cuñas de patata cuando llegó. Si lo hubiera sabido, no hubiera pedido porque odio las cuñas de patata. Necesita ser mirado en el menú para el futuro.

Admittedly, we only had drinks after a great walk in the surrounding countryside, but still, an impression's given, an opinion's formed. The barmaid was pleasant enough but didn't have a smile or a kind word in her locker. One decent bitter on draught but no signage so no-one really knew what it was. Tasted darned good though. The barmaid eating her toast behind the bar is a big no-no with hygiene standards these days, but this is a pub out of time. A couple of punters playing pool, a guy perched on a bar stool in silent contemplation of his mobile phone, a one horse town, a dead end pub twinned with the moon - no atmosphere. Didn't stay for a second round.

Excellent service. Food was excellent and drinks are cheap. Will definitely come back again. We had steak on the hot lava plates with side orders of onion rings and extra fries. Over the moon with the service. Was very quiet no loud leary music and we was able to hold a conversation. The staff didn't hound you and was available immediately if we wanted anything.

I can honestly say this is the worst place I have ever eaten in, infact I didn't even eat there. The food was that poor I wouldn't have fed it to my dog! I should have realised when there was an empty restaurant. I ordered lasagna and waited an hour, when it arrived I was horrified to find ice in it, it got sent back and I heard the microwave ping and it was back and I have never seen any thing like it so I have kindly attached photo. I didn't pay for my meal and my families meals were just as bad. Another poor couple did come in who went on to complain about there meal. Oh dear I feel really saddened by this as I am a a local. I wish I had gone to the Yarborough now which is in the next village along in ulceby. This place has so much potential but I was told not to go in but thought I would see for my self. Never again and will make sure i don't recommend this place.

We desperately needed somewhere to dine before our flight, so unfortunately ended up hereThe customer service was absolutely dreadful. The tables were dirty, dusty and drear. We waited about 45 mins for 4 portions of chips and a sandwich. Ridiculous!! Never again!

Found this pub online looking for a dog friendly pub in the area, I was really impressed from my initial call to enquire availability to the time we left after eating a cracking meal. Great hospitality from the landlord / lady - nothing was too much trouble and they displayed a genuine interest in our welfare and that of our dogs - they even put a bowl of fresh water by our table as we sat down to eat without being prompted. Good value for money food - my stake was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended, especially for dog owners wanting a quality bite to eat (dogs only allowed in the bar) in a friendly environment. Thanks very much.

Popped in for an impromptu Sunday lunch - it was well after 3 so the rush was well over. Food served piping hot and plenty of it. Quirky place which I think added to its charm. Friendly efficient service - good ale - what more could you ask for and good value. Will be back

We came for a drink Lovely garden outside and kids playarea so we decided to stay for a meal well I wish we hadn't the pub is more like a store room there is bits and bobs everywhere and the food was nothing special either was bland and cold and had to remove a long brown hair from my daughters plate when I went to complain about my meal there was a young blonde woman who showed no interest what's so ever will not be going again

Attended a private family Christening on a beautiful sunny afternoon . We were able to take advantage of the extensive outdoor setting with a great play area for the children to enjoy while the adults relaxed in seats that are the best I have seen in any outdoor area . The buffet was plentiful with a good choice and a nice touch was the unexpected free ice cream cones fot the children.The owners and staff worked hard to ensure everyone was looked after.This is a venue that should be considered for any similar events.

we had scampi here on a lovely sunny saturday, the food was a cut above the average pub food, and the garden setting very pleasent.the menu is vey extensive, if a little on the pricey side.would visit again

We booked for Friday night 05/06/2015 and I asked if they had vegaterian options and there reply was yes, on arrival we ordered drinks I asked what the cask beer was and they could not tell me as the person who had put the barrel on was not there, they gave me a sample and I ordered the same, we sat down at our table and ordered our food with 3 of us wanting the mushroom pot with blue cheese sauce as starters and as there was only one vegaterian option for the main meal we asked for the brie wedges for a main course and ordered 3 other dishes, around 5 minutes later the waitress came to us and said there was no blue cheese sauce available for the mushroom pot and also they had no brie wedges, we decided to pay for our drinks and leave .The decoration of the rooms looked well worn. Our experience was one of disappointment as they appear to have no idea what they are doing and whats on offer
