The Sea Hotel in South Tyneside

Fantastic night stay helpful friendly staff, price reasonable for everything and room was beautiful and view was amazing definitely worth 5*

Stayed here a few years ago and it was terrible, went the other day as was told it was taken over and revamped. Worse service ever! Ordered a coffee and half a shandy, was informed no 0% alcohol at all, asked for half three times but still got a pint.. Idiot young barman with no clue called Michael. Me and my friend Moved to the restaurant area with drinks. Old couple waiting ages for their meal and when it arrives was cold, they simply asked for it to be boxed to take home as it was cold, I felt sorry for them. Talking to an American couple they had terrible service and again Michael the young clueless kid didn't know what food was available so made many trips to the chef. I ordered coffee and cake, coffee came, no cake, I complained to be told chef is baking it! Rubbish and a lie. When it came twenty minutes later it wasn't warm and moist but had been in a fridge, lied to, more like he forgot. So I told him I want a free coffee and got one. I booked for mother's day afternoon tea for seven people but because of the terrible service I cancelled it at reception.. She didn't give a rats, no apology nothing. Take it from me... Avoid this place. DO NOT PAY FOR PARKING, GO INTO THE HOTEL REGISTER YOUR REG AND IT'S FREE ALL DAY! Wonder what the rubbish idiotic reply will be to this review, no excuse for young staff who don't care. No excuses excepted. I'll wait for the silly response with my popcorn and feet up to have a good giggle. Trust me people, AVOID THIS PLACE.

Hotel offered all the basic amenities at a reasonable price. There was no lift which which was reasonably problematic how assistance was offered. Great location.

We go for coffee and cake at a very reasonable price Plus Sunday lunch is always excellent

Supposed to be sports bar,footie never seems to be on,u ask for prem match,not available. U come for a drink,it takes ages for bar person to get to bar.

This was better before the refurbishment took place it is near the beach and the show ground it is within walking distance of the town centre

Been a while since I last stopped here.It has had an upgrade.I stayed one night. Room was nice. Food was decent. It was empty so was limited staff but I wasn't made to wait for anything. All in all a decent cheap hotel.

Tried the 3 course meal for £14.95 last Sunday and wow, the food was out of this world. Great taste and amazing value for money. Place has been tastefully refurbished and staff are friendly. I wish the new owners Good Luck. Hope this helps get the word out. We will be back.

Excellent function room, free parking. Facilities lovely and ideal for big party or wedding

What a place had to go down to reception 4 times ,key didn't work ,bath plug didn't fit didn't stay for breakfast low quality ohh and no heating dispite changing rooms

Stayed here 22nd May 2024, as we were going to a concert. This was our second time of staying and the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, which is mostly complete. The hotel is really nice now, all freshly painted and nice decor throughout. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is ideally located, next to an amusement park, the sea and Ocean Drive where there are a lot of nice restaurants. There is no need to eat out though as there is a lovely restaurant in the hotel. We had a full English breakfast there and it was excellent.

Lovely large room with amenities as you'd expect for a 3* hotel. Stones throw to the sea front, or views across the large Marine Park. Staff are helpful and friendly. Parking on site is free if you're staying, else pay and display. One downfall, the walls are paper thin, you can clearly hear people chatting in the next room, even with the TV or music on..
