Been ordering from here for a long time get the same order chicken tikka with rice chips and nan bread came tonight it was cold nan bread over cooked it was hard chips and rice undercooked put in complaint and they just brushed it off no one even ate it no ordering from.here again

Always great food, and ready on time.

Ordered with a quote time of 50 minutes, this was changed to 1 hour - 1 hour 15. Still no food at the 2 hour mark. Prompted restaurant and they added another 30 mins to delivery time without telling me. Cancelled order!

Food was delicious, plenty of it and piping hot, delivery was 1hr 35 mins but within their time given when we ordered so not a complaint. First order in years after moving back to shields, won’t be the last 👌🏽

Always a consistently brilliant meal from the team in Abbeys. Hardly surprising they're so busy as quality of food is amazing and service from the team is fantastic. Keep up the brilliant work, would recommend to anyone.

The food from here is honestly amazing, I’ve been getting from here for years but the delivery times now are a joke, having to wait almost 3 hours for a curry just isn’t for me. Rang the restaurant and was told they had too many orders, then why accept them ? Not even an apology on the phone and was told my food was with the driver. Then took a further 40 minutes to arrive. Not happy and expect a full refund.

Waited 2.5 hours from ordering at 17:45 for my food, order was later than the time they gave me by over an hour. Ended up calling and was fobbed off and told the driver will be with you in a couple of minutes. Poor service and not shocking delivery time - it’s a shame as the food was really nice.

forgot pompadoms rice was bland mixed kebab had no salad rang to say didn't get salad why ? never again plus lady on phone needs some customer service training

Used to go here years ago, when I lived in South Shields, It didn't disappoint, ordered double so I could freeze a meal.... Superb value for money...

Nearly a 4 hour wait. Ordered 6:15 came nearly 10 past 10. Chicken wasn’t cooked properly. But everything else was nice .

I ordered at 6.18pm and arrived at 9.30pm. over 3 hours for delivery and told twice it was being packed when it wasn't. starters had no salad. curries hardly had any base sauce and were way too thick. The onions in both curries were barely cooked. Rice was thankfully ok, which isnt much of a saving grace. Wouldn't order from here again.

despite the problems abbeys had tonight. the food was still amazing And to give them credit they did keep me up to date with what was happening. just don't order when they have 50% off. You could be in for a wait

Bhajis were like leather, chips seemed old and had been reheated. Had some chicken which smelled like bad eggs so left the rest. Never had a problem before but won't be ordering from there again.

Food is great and can't knock it, however the attitude on the delivery driver is absolutely disgusting and they need to replace him so sadly won't order again due to this

Started using Abby’s South Shields around 6 months ago after being recommended by a friend and have been meaning to leave a review for a while but kept forgetting. So, had about 10-12 orders now and have to say the food has been superb every time, with last weeks Beef Madras being one of the nicest I’ve ever had anywhere ! It’s great that they are consistent in the quality - not everywhere is ! To top it off, delivery is usually earlier than specified, and the delivery staff are very friendly.

it's the go to Indian take away. never had a bad curry from here.

Food came 30 mins before it was due which would have been great if we were given the correct items. Gave us chips instead of naan. We don’t eat chips hence why we ordered a naan. Payed almost £30 got offered free starter but missing the free starter. Onion bhaji were cold as well. Curry’s were fine but not very hot. Rice was the best thing. Disappointed when paying so much deffo expected better :(

Was initially put off by the neon red colour but it was very tasty, light and fresh. Will try more.

Wouldn't go anywhere other than Abbeys. Not had a bad experience. Tonight however I ordered my usual and an extra curry appeared in my delivery in error. Called the shop to let them know and was told to keep it and enjoy it! Food is always amazing and service is even better!

This complaint is not for Abby's it is for two Sundays dinners I ordered on Sunday it took my money and the restraunt was closed I want my refund and how come I don't get any discount vouchers all the orders I do

The staff curry i had off the menu waa really bad full of okra about 3 pices of chicken all so dry cld not eat it the curry went in the bin i have pictures of this normally nice from here but sorry that staff curry was vile i wont order again

Ordered over £70 worth of food for the family and everything was spot on. Nothing missing or incorrect and tasted great thank you.

Ordered chicken tikka main, vindaloo chicken, chips, rice, nan bread, sheek kebab. The chicken tikka was yesterday’s. It was hard and had a rancid taste. Also the chicken in the curry tasted rancid. I’ll stay with Viking tandoori next time. Only went here on a friend’s recommendation. Never again. Rotten. Getting money back.

Everything was tremendous especially the Sri Lanka and the balti naan was perfect as it was cooked that bit longer

Missing a few bits but everything didn’t taste right. I ordered a SRI Lankan that tasted like a bland curry. My partners bread for her mushroom puree was missing and daughter’s masala was way over sweet. Sadly won’t be returning as everything was just a bit average. Chicken also wasn’t great and quite dry.

I normally order from the Dilshad but have not received parts of the order for the last 3 orders so have tried different shops, all very bland and sometimes cold. We orderd from Abbey's and I can tell you we won't be going anywhere else now!! Food was hot, rice was spot on!! and the curry was probably the tastiest we've ever had!! Full of flavour! Food is lovely but if you are placing an order don’t be fooled by the expected delivery times as they are NEVER correct. If you do ring to ask when it will arrive you can expect to be advised that it’s next delivery….over 2hrs later it will arrive and probably be missing something…. Update, order placed 18:44, arrived 21:15, was due 19:57 and rang 20:30 for an update and was advised it would be 20mins by a rude individual …apparently they are very busy and website times don’t need updating 🙄. I have used for over a year but service is getting worse and this is my last order.

Food nice. Issue time and again is the delivery time. 3rd time ordering and 3rd time app updates to say courier is on the way only for it to take over an hour to arrive. Been given back £3 each time for cost of delivery, however tonight's order, app said on way at 19:30, only for the lady on phone to say driver was given food 5mins ago at 20:25! At least be accurate and honest!

Hi sorry to have to say this but order was wrong I ordered a prawn rogan Josh and a chicken rogan Josh was delivered not sure why you have a time slot as was 45 minutes late when ordered at about 6.30pm for a 19.45 slot . Yes your food is good but you must improve on customer service

I ordered from Abbey on a recommendation. Unfortunately the food took nearly 2 hours to be delivered, despite me living 1 mile away. The madras was weak and had a thick/ bland consistency. It had no trace of spice at all. However on a bright note, the poppadoms, chapatti and sauces I ordered were spot on. Also the lamb in my madras was cooked to perfection.

First time ordering here yesterday, 24/02/24 lady on phone was lovely, food was delicious! Always get nervous trying places for the first time, but can definitely say we will be ordering again! Thank you

The last two orders from here the delivery time has kept changing and ended up being 3 hours for delivery. Tonight the delivery time was being changed again, so I rang to say we would collect instead as we have a child who was hungry. The woman on the phone was very snotty and just said you won’t get your £3 delivery fee back. Food wasn’t great, onion Bahjis were very overdone and very hard! Will not be ordering from here again and have ordered from here for years!

The food is absolutely faultless, abbeys never fails to impress. The only issue is the delivery time being late, which is a common occurrence. Well worth the wait
