The Sands Bar & Grill in Suffolk Coastal

Ver disappointed. Two young girls on duty who were indifferent to our questions. We sat down and neither came to ask if we needed drinks before ordering. There was only one other family in the restaurant. Left without ordering. Have been before with better results but not happy with the lack of service.

Ordered are meals and all was fine until the owner came over and took my ketchup of my table to give to another customer when I hadn’t even finished my meal I said to her I wasn’t finished yet to which she got me another bottle,when I opened it it was absolutely disgusting,all black.I wasn’t happy so went to speak to her and she was so rude to me,would never eat there again.they need to clean there ketchup bottles daily AVOID

Popped in today whilst out with family. It was really quiet and if I'm honest I didn't expect much. I was so wrong! The food was brilliant. Both my mum and I had vegan burgers and they were so good! Chips and onion rings were great and not greasy. Coleslaw was really creamy and lovely too. My daughter wanted scrambled egg on toast and the staff were really helpful in sending out a child's size portion on little toast for her. I tried the scrambled egg and again, it was delicious. Staff were so friendly, really helpful and just made our meal very relaxed and enjoyable. Also very reasonably priced. Hope we can visit again in the future 😊

Myself and my wife went for a day trip to Felixstowe, we got a little hungry so went to get some dinner. Every restaurant I go to I always order the burgers, This place has the best burgers I’ve ever eaten and the pulled pork was heavily ,the owners are absolutely amazing chatty and welcoming and great service too, highly recommend this place to anyone. 6/11/21

Our daughter is incredibly fussy with food ,they were great here and made her exactly what she wanted. Really friendly we went back the next night will definitely come back again.

The portions were enormous, the ribs and chicken schnitzel were amazing. Burgers were full on meat fest. Even my daughters kids meal of macaroni cheese was good. Onion rings and garlic mushrooms were lovely. Friendly staff. Total worth trying! Ps no puddings so you don’t have to save room!

Very kind and helpful people. We arrived, they were closing, they even ran us home. Very much appreciated.

As regular visitors to Felixstowe we've never visited Sands Bar and Grill. Doesn't look much from the outside and never seemed busy. Having had breakfast there we can fully understand why it's so quiet. Food was cold, bland and expensive for what it is. Bacon anemic, left in the sun, better to ask how people want the bacon rather than serve it white which is really unappealing, we laughed when we saw it. Both breakfasts went back, something we're loathed and rarely do. One was warmed up and the bacon cooked and the other replaced. Second time round was an improvement but still not great. Parts of it were still cold which was quite an achievement. Didn't seem like anyone really cared which is a shame as Sands is in a prominent position and should be a goldmine. We really don't want to be leaving negative reviews after the year hospitality has had but when you have such a poor experience we feel we have to warn others not to waste their money. There is a take away across the fountain from sands that does an egg and bacon roll. Gutted we didn't just go there. Won't be going back.

Myself, my parter and his daughter attempted a visit for lunch today. Upon arrived. We chose to check in manually. This was a breach of GDPR, we were a form to take to the table with other people’s names, addresses and phone numbers on there. This was left on our table until we left. We then waited 15 minutes for someone to approach our table to collect our order, of which we ordered both drinks and food. Over half an hour later, we asked the staff where our drinks were and were told that our order had been lost, by a member of staff who chose to wear her mask over her chin. The only option we were given would be for us to re order and we would be at the back of the pile with another 30 minute wait time for the food. We chose to leave and all we got was a ‘wishy-washy’ apology, no offer of a being fast tracked for food or complimentary drinks.

We had an absolutely lovely meal on sunday evening here with our friends. The steak was cooked perfect the whole meal was delicious. Very friendly owners ... we will be back X

Ate at the Restaurant 3 times in a week, the service was brilliant food plentiful and lovely. Good price to top it off.well worth a visit or 2. I had my 2 Cocker spaniel with me and the owners Son loved them and they were allowed outside the restaurant

Friendly welcome, quick service, super clean, great value for money and tasty cuisine. We had 5 different dishes and everyone loved what they had (inc the 2 children). Couldn’t fault this place, pleased we found it and will be going back again!

Very welcoming, great atmosphere, amazing and gorgeous staff, very nice food. I just could not get enough of the friendly service. I wish I could have stayed in the area longer to visit the bar a few more times. Keep up the good work!

A friend and I were supposed to be in Turkey and was cancelled so decided to go Costa del Felixstowe xx we went out and were hungry and came across this place so friendly from the moment we came to the door and the food is incredible I would highly recommend this amazing place xx

Stopped here for drinks and dinner again on Saturday. Food is always so good and tasty, staff always friendly and welcoming and always good value for money. Why go anywhere else? Highly recommended.

Me and a group of friends ended up having an unplanned meal here, and were very pleasantly surprised! The prices were reasonable, the food and drinks were superb, and the staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful! I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Small portions, food lukewarm half the food from menu wasn’t on plate, hot chocolate tasted like heated up milkshake poor service rude staff not member came out and asked how food was not good value for money, wasted a hour of my life will not be going back staff also eating and drinking behind bar poor customer skills.

Went here for breakfast lovely food here staff friendly sat by the window so could watch the world go ,this is no greasy spoon cafe the breakfast was really lovely and very reasonably priced.

Arranged a surprise birthday meal here for hubby's birthday on Sunday 10th November as food is so good. We had a brilliant time with all arrangement's sorted and spot on.10 meal's superbly cooked and presented at set time served by super friendly happy staff.So thanks Sands to all staff on duty Sunday for a lovely time, great food, great service and great value for money.See you all very soon Highly recommended.

Lovely little family run cafe / restaurant. Popped in for breakfast & a few drinks. The cooked breakfast was very high quality with the drinks to match (see photo’s) We will definitely return!

Looks a bit rough from the outside and the table tops are quite sticky. The facilities need updating as they have seen better days but the meal was excellent. Service was fine but we had to queue up for a while to order and pay for the meal in advance

Food good, and not expensive. Decor much improved. Shame the piano accordion relegated to the corner! Really great place. Staff very good, especially the yong lady with blonde hair. So helpful! A u-turn from my first impressions a few months ago. Now 100% 5 star!

Ordered some chips to takeaway so we could eat them on our drive home. When they were brought out to us we opened the box to add salt only to find a curly pube. Told the management and we got no apology. They simply just gave us new ones rudely with no offer of anything else. Absolutely vile. No excuses.

Visited Felixstowe with a friend and we stopped here for lunch and also went back for drinks in the evening. The food was plentiful, decent quality and very cheap. The best thing about this place was the staff though, they couldn’t do enough for us, especially Michaela. We would definitely return.

Stopped in here for lunch at 2pm was very quite but looked nice we order 2 adult meals I child's meal my partner had the burger which he said was nice and my child enjoyed his meal but I had a jacket potato which had been microwaved and was still very hard I tried to get the managers attention but he was too busy with friends /family not very attentive as non one even came to see if everything was ok we sat for a good 15mins after finishing out meal and no one even came to clear out table I used there toilet which I have to say are the worst I've ever seen disgusting dosent even cut it after leaving we went in to the amusement next door as we walked past after our table still hadn't been cleared we was only 1 of 3 tables in there.

I was travelling in the area for work purposes and was in need of some refreshment before my 4 hour drive.

Today myself and my husband went here and it was lovely the staff were so kind and caring and happy the food was lovely and the drinks and all prices were very good not to high myself and my partner really enjoyed the meal

Nicely refurbished and long overdue. Staff cannot seem to cope when crowded. I feel that either the way the system works here is wrong or it is understaffed. Just waiting for drinks took ages, even worse than it used to be!

We visited the sands bar and grill (I think formerly sands diner) this morning, when entering the gentleman who was serving greeted us, he was very friendly, we chose a booth and noticed that the decor has been done to a very high standard, very interesting to look at. We ordered breakfast and the 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitress was polite and attentive. I love coffee and had a lovely cappuccino, the kids were over the moon to find they served appletiser, they have a vast selection of drinks. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and for £35 for 4 breakfasts and drinks it’s very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back on our next visit to try the menu as the burgers sound fab.

Was in area for work and place looked nice. Paid £7.95 for an all day breakfast. Came out with 1 sausage 1 bacon 1 egg 4 small mushrooms and some beans. Seriously disappointing.

El servicio no era bueno, visitó con dos niños con hambre a la hora del almuerzo. Los adultos comidas apareció tras una considerable espera seguido bastante rápidamente por una de las comidas de los niños nos dijeron que la segunda era volver! Después de esperar 10 minutos me preguntó donde la segunda comida del niño estaba teniendo en cuenta que iba a ser la misma que la primera. Me dijeron que seria "dos minutos", 10 minutos después de la comida aún no había llegado. Por esta vez nuestros dos hijos estaban compartiendo la primera cena como el segundo niño era muy hambrientos.

La cafetería ofrece comidas tipo "fish and chips", algunas comidas pasta, patatas chaqueta, y tiene una lista de especiales diarios. Era agradable tener algo diferente a la usual de chippy easide' comida que normalmente dan en complejos de estos días. Muy buena cocina a un precio razonable

Parecía estar muy lleno así que metimos en algo para comer. Tomamos el desayuno. Absolutamente repugnante. No tengo ni idea de lo que la "salchicha", pero sin duda no era de carne y todo lo demás estaba nadando en aceite. Fuimos al baño cuando terminado no había servilletas y fueron igual de repugnante que una pierda así también. Evitar! ! !

Tomamos un café aquí antes y no estaba mal. Probamos un aperitivo. Tenía una hamburguesa que era bastante normal, pero mi esposa tenía una hamburguesa de pollo. Olía raro y era de color gris. Cuando nos quejamos, nos dijeron que el chef cocinará otro. A la tarde. nos devolviera el dinero, y la izquierda no quisimos. Nunca más mejor prevenir que curar.

Este lugar está ubicado frente al mar en Felixstowe y yo realmente creo que esta es la única razón por la que todavía están en actividad. . . Ubicación, Ubicación, ubicación.

Para el personal que pasó por el café eran tipo de café estaba bien, agradable lugar es viejo y cansado, parece poco elegante desde el exterior. Aseos para hombres eran asquerosas plantas wet aseos señoras no estaban mal pero algunos cubículos estaban cerradas. Tiene una calificación de 5 comida pero no estoy seguro de que volvería a comer allí, no estaba muy lleno, aunque era, Felixstowe hay mucha competencia.

La comida pésima y el servicio de risa en este lugar es legendario. Yo fui a por mi coche y mistakingly lavados este domingo pasado por allí para tomar un té mientras aguardaba. En todos mis años nunca he visto un café tan mal llevado. Hace Aspecto Fawlty Towers como el Ritz.

Never in my life been into a place that is so run down. After waiting for our food then my son giving a plate to then be taken away from him as it was the wrong order.. My lil girls food that burnt you could chuck chicken nuggets at window n they ws smash. Staff haven't a clue and the manager needs the sack. Even more so when my self works within the health and food inspection. Full report shall be written. Will never go back there and advise ppl nva to go and eat there. Even the toilets were shocking.

As a family we had been here previously and had a lovely breakfast. Whilst in Felixstowe on a day trip we decided to go here again but this time for lunch, well what a mistake!!! On arrival restaurant seemed reasonable busy, but lots of tables free. All five of us dining decided to go for the cod and chips. We went to the bar to order, staff seemed disorganised and when asked for five cod and chips, the waitress replied "i dont think we have enough i will have to check". That sort comment makes you wonder about their food storage. After 1 hour of waiting, we queried where our food was? We asked a clueless waitress and she reluctantly asked the chef. On returning to us she said it will be ready soon, getting frustrated we asked how long is soon, she bluntly replied "i dunno". Finally after abother 25 minutes it arrived, with the last one arriving 10 minutes after the first one! What a joke!Before we left we took an obligatory trip to the ladies room, well what can i say!! It was filthy, disgusting and worse than any public toliets we had been in all day!All in all the place was dirty, the staff need customer training and we definitely will NOT be coming back here again!!

Absolutely disgusting!When we went to order the food they were very slow I questioned the price of bill because it seemed very high for what I had the girl that I went to had a bad attitude on her and didn't like being questioned that put me off going back straight away, then we were waiting 45 minutes for fish and chips it was very tasteless the fish was frozen not fresh like you would think for a seaside cafeMy sons meal came and his sausage was burnt and the beans were dry.I have never sat in a cafe where so many people have complained about the slow service and the food.Absolutely disgusting would never go there again.

This is the only place, in my life, where I have cancelled my order and left. We arrived and placed our order for food at 13:20, the place was maybe a third full, we had only ordered jacket potatoes. At 14:00 the food still hadn't arrived, I was on my lunch break so went to enquire, the lady behind the counter seemed oblivious and our order hadn't even been passed to the kitchen. At 14:20 we demanded our money back and left, I went back to work starving. The lady behind the counter is very slow and not very switched on. The people on the table opposite us also waited 50 minutes for one portion of fish and chips and said it was the worst they'd tasted. Would never step foot in this place again.

I have been here only twice, both occasions it was okay for me, so it is a shame they gained bad reviews from others on other occasions. The restaurant is really a cafe, it is a bit rough and ready, but the food was good, prices reasonable, and the service excellent. It is opposite the beach, next to the Sunday market, well placed and convenient. Most of the other local food places are take-away only, and slightly cheaper, if that is what you want. My wife and I had the all-day breakfast, lots of well cooked food for only £5 each. If you want a stylish restaurant this is not the place to go, but for some decent grub, in the warm and dry, it is well worth a visit.

Afriend suggested we go to this place, under the impression it was under new management as the Name had changed to Sands Diner. sadly after we ordered, the chef came out, who was the same man who I had argued with on my last visit there. I ordered a melted cheese and mushroom baguette with onion rings and chips, and my friend ordered the fish and chips. we had kids meals for our two girls. To cut a very long story short, the food was very basic, very bland, cold, the fish was sloppy, the baguette down one side was actually burnt to charcoal effect and the chips tasted like they had been cooked in the same fat from the last time I went there. my baguette was given to me with onions in it, which was not on the menu or asked for, but before I said anything the waitress put it in front of me and said, "I don't know why he has put onions in it, I didn't ask him to!", then walked off. I was shocked that she had not only bought it out to me burnt, but it wasn't even what I ordered! The mature waitress was nice but sadly didn't really make a huge difference to our experience. they had no baby changing facilities, and when asked we were told to change the nappies at the table next to us! we were advised that by law they do not have to provide baby changing facilities. I don't know how accurate that is but you would think they just would, and certainly not in the place where people are eating! so after the horrendous main, I don't know what possessed us, but we chose a dessert of sticky toffee pudding. the bowls actually came out with dead flies and a layer of dust around the entire edge of the bowls! When I went to complain, a young waitress asked what I wanted and I noticed she was on her way with two dishes so I said I'd wait, but she put the food down and asked me again. I told her, and almost immediately the chef (awful man) came out asking what my problem was. The young waitress remained where she was with the food she had been taking out for almost 9 minutes in the end! during this time the 'Chef' examined our bowls, took them away and asked us if we wanted a replacement, we said no thank you, a refund would be better. After counting his till money, he then gave us the refund of the desserts.

Had a Birthday Party at this Restaurant and was very disappointed that after paying £750 the manager gave the children water to drink and he added that Jonny Manning only gave him £10.00 towards drinks for the kids. Also during the party he told one little boy to shut up. The children at the party are not used to this abuse and this man should never be around children so my ADVICE TO ANYONE LOOKING TO HAVE THEIR PARTY THERE IS TO AVOID BOTH MANNINGS AND THE SANDS BAR. It's a shame as it is a good set up but Mannings are not professional in their business as I am still awaiting my receipt and refund and YES JONNY MANNING I will tell the whole of FELIXSTOWE exactly how you treat people. HAVE YOU NOT HEARD OF KARMA when you become a father and your child is ever told to shut up by a stranger and after you paid out £750 you will then feel like I do. The thing is I would have used your party theme again not the sands restaurant with that man working there. You are not a professional business man if you were you would have treated this grand mother better. BUT JUST REMEMBER WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND GOOD LUCK ON THAT

I don't understand the bad reviews here this is my second time in a few weeks and once again it was worth the visit good hot food excellent service and the place was packed so it must mean something although they were busy we only had to wait 15 minutes which wasn't bad considering

25 minute wait for a coffee 50 minute wait for food, how none of the party got sick from it is nothing short of a miracle. Cakes on the counter were being spoken over and spat on with no cover over them. germ fest!!!!!This place needs to rethink and re do its health and safety as someone is going to end up seriously ill from this place.

I worked 2 days at the sands before I got told I was no longer needed. He gave me no reason why. I also got treated very badly while at working my 2 days. I did everything I was asked to the best I could and even did more then staff that worked there for longer. I would not recommend getting a job at the sands as the manager is horrible tears his staff of 15/16 year olds badly by swearing at the shouting at them and not giving any praise. Not only that but the food is badly prepared on dirty surfaces with dirty pots and pans. It is also prepared days before it is served as they just warm it up for instance the meat for the cavery. Please do not eat r get a job at the sands!

after working here for a few weeks now i have a picture of how the place is run which is appalling, the manager and staff are incredibly rude to customers and will put in no effort to help you. food is cooked days, even weeks in advance prepared on the uncleaned side which isnt wiped down!! it is a miracle no body has gotten seriosly ill from eating here, more suprising it hasnt been shut down. you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After reading other reviews I was very sceptical about visiting the restaurant but my friend and I were pleasantly surprised I had fish and chips and my friend had scampi it arrived quickly and was very hot the fish was delicious and the chips were crisp and golden our waitress was helpful and friendly the only downside was they didn't have diet drinks only cola which I don't like but that was a small glinch to an otherwise enjoyable meal will definitely go there again

Well what can I say when ever I come to Felixstowe I always eat in a nice little cafe on beach station road cafe 7 but on Saturday I was with a couple of friends who were hungry and we was near the sands so we decided to try that, we'll what can I say I walked in and it was dirty and staff were rude but my friends still wanted to stay I looked at food as it was coming out and there was no way I was going to eat there it looked terrible so I got up and left and went to cafe 7 defo the best place to eat in Felixstowe and defo won't be trying any where els... do not visit or if you do then be warned....

Went on trip to felixstowe yesterday, saw sands bar advertising carvery and 4 of us went in. A foriegn man came over and I asked if we should sit anywhere specific, which he ignored and abruptly said 'you want just drinks or food?' My partner answered food and with that the foreign man brushed past us to the carvery area, saying 'you want drinks? Vodka, wine?' I once again asked where we should sit, there were many free tables, again he ignored me and started brushing spilt food from the dining plate with his not so clean sleeve - nice touch! I looked at the carvery band noticed a big green fly happily wandering around andvover the meats, I said to him ' you have a fly crawling on your food' to which he replied ' go and eat somewhere else then!' We were absolutely lost for words, the man fled to the back of the shop and we left, somewhat in shock! Being two mature couples we would probably have spent quite a lot of money had we not left, however, on reflection, we are glad we did leave as his hygeine standards leaves a lot to be desired, still can't quite believe it, thanks for the experience sands bar!

Well we came here for breakfast on a Sunday, what a shambles, waited for about 12 minutes, and had to go and order our food, one young lad serving, anyway somebody came out and took the order, didn't ask if I wanted fried bread or toast with my order, waited 10 minutes for food, then they got it wrong with my partners food, she had ordered poached egg on toast, and they came with two full breakfasts, so by the time I had eaten mine, hers arrived, very poor service, and I kept looking at where they had the carvery, and the meat had been taken out of the oven and just left there, hygiene say no more, would not recommend

We go to this place every now and then for an all-day breakfast. The food itself is good and for the price it's good value. So I didn't give only one star. My positive thoughts, however, end there. What really brings this place down is the absolutely shocking service. Went to the counter to order and was kept waiting for a minute or so while the girl was chatting away merrily to her friend and not bothering to serve the customer! This is typical behaviour, not a one-off. The staff seem to deliberately avoid customers. If you DO manage to speak to one of the staff, for example, to ask for cutlery, they will tell you, as if you're thick, where it is so you can go and get it yourself - no matter whether the person who needs the cutlery is elderly, or a single parent out with young children, etc. They are apparently incapable of crossing the floor to get anything for you, and they like to run off and hide as soon as you've paid to make sure you carry your own drinks - no matter how many there are. I serve customers in my job so I am sympathetic when people are under-staffed or very busy, but that is NOT the case here. They spend most of their time wandering about aimlessly or chatting to each other / their mates, and have an indifferent, dismissive attitude, as if serving customers is beneath them. The decor, cleanliness etc is average, and the food is good for the money, but only go here if you don't mind completely non-existent service.

Came here with my 3yo and a friend. Wasn't even sure which door was the entrance as there was no indication whatsoever. Finally got in, found a grubby looking table and went to order food. I get there to find two waitresses having a conversation swearing like troopers. One went off in a huff and the one on the till looked at me and walked off. The manager came out, looked at me and started to serve a girl behind me, so I start to get peed off.He then asked if I was being served and said 'what do you want?' I replied asking for a kids meal by which point he started talking to the guy behind me. I waited for him to look at me before I continued and he said 'come on tell me what you want; she'll look after you (waitress) and I'll cook it, and I tell you what, if you smile, I'll even make it taste good.' I repeated my order: 'yeah yeah I got the kids meal, what else is it?' Too stunned to contest him, I asked for a spanish omelette whilst pointing at the menu to which he replied 'nah, we don't do them.'Had to leave the place before I made a scene. Never before have I been brought to tears in a cafe and I'm so glad I never got past ordering. I genuinely have no idea how this nutjob keeps a business afloat.

Visiting the area, saw plenty of customers through the windows. Encouraged we went inside. Decor dated & needs a good clean. Found a table which looked like it hadn't been wiped in a while. Chose our food & ordered at counter. Only one person working front of house & one person serving food. Long wait for food. Food much better than we assumed it would be at reasonable price, although you have to get your own knives, forks & condiments.

Are lunch here very recently with a colleague before a meeting nearby.The food was just what I needed a five hour journey. The omelettes are great.. Staff friendly, place I'd clean and good views out to sea.

Found this restaurant purely by chance on a day out. Has to be said it was one of the best fish and chip meals I have ever had. Brilliant service and value.

Having been to the Sands before and had a pleasant carvery served by very polite and accommodating staff we thought we would go there again planning to eat there as we had before.On entering noticed the new windows and doors and thought what an improvement, how wrong we were! Ordered the kids food and drinks and were told to pay for the carvery separately .so we waited for the kids meals to come and after being given somebodys elses food the childrens finally arrived, we then went to get our cavery and got in the queue that was waiting rather impatiently , approximately 15 mins later and the people in front of us walking out the owner finally turned up without an apology and started mumbling to himself then very rudely asked(or should i say grunted ) my partner what meat she wanted, she replied pork please then he asked how much meat she wanted she replied 3 and he started to cut the meat and put it on 3 plates ,when my partner said she only wanted 1 plate, instead of saying sorry i misunderstood was told rudely thats not what she said , by then i had had enough so had walked off , my partner then returned without any food and said he had carried on being rude to her after i had left.the only saving grace was that both our children had been fed.Spoilt our other wise nice day.

went into there on sunday for a roast lack of staff didnt have a clue what they were doing waited for my carvery for over 20mins to pick my meat and the gentlemen didnt apologise and was incredibly rude dumped it on my plate. It was dry warm and horrible. the rest of the orders took ages when came out was wrong order the girl was rude about it and slammed it back down. worst customer experience i have ever experienced in my life and horrible food. People were walking out wasnt even that many people in their and they couldn't handle it. WILL NEVER RETURN!!!!!

Went into the Sands diner today, ordered food. 3 of us, 2 meals arrived, long gap so I went to enquire. I remarked that the place seemed a bit disorganised, and the girl went mad and told me to go away!!!! We had paid out over £20 for this insult. My grandsons garlic bread eventually arrived via the owner as I found out, and I pointed out that the girl needed some customer service training. Summing up, food not bad but service and general tidiness APPALLING!!!!! Will not be paying another visit.

One of the worst places I have ever eaten. Service absolutelly terrible, looked like we disturbing them. Quality of food very low, could do better breakfast at home with better atmosphere.

Looks like average sea front place to eat. Seems clean, until you visit the toilets, I think the cleaner is only given enough time for a quick wipe over and I don't think they are checked again until the next day. There appears to be plenty of staff but it seems to take forever to place an order and even longer for below average food to arrive. My daughter ordered a 'days special', the rest of our group had nearly finished before hers arrived. The children's menu promises ice cream if their plate is cleared, but I didn't force my grandchildren to eat anything from their plates as it looked so unappetising. Get the impression that it's a not bothered money hungry owner leading a pleasant but clueless staff who are not given any guidance or training. Improve communication between waiting staff and the kitchen and they may get some returning customers.

After the Sunday market we thought that we'd get a spot of breakfast, what a waste of time and money that was,the service was poor & the food was awful in fact I'm not exaggerating if I said that was the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life. I certainly wouldn't go back there again.

I live in felixstowe and went here a few times about a year ago and it was ok good cafe food.After seeing it being renovated in the middle of summer??I took my mum and my so for a bit of lunch. I will be honest the food was standard cafe food but the service was horrific. They also had old tatty menus which I'm sure were the same as when I went last and not even 1 menu per table. Stood in a line of 3 people and at a guess I'd say it took 10-15 minutes to be served even though the 2 young girl staff stood yapping to a friend of theirs the whole time while another young girl was rushing around trying to clear the tables dropping things as she went. It came to my turn I stood with the menu in hand at the counter the woman serving finally came back (2 girls still chatting). she stood messing about with her order pad then went to walk away and at the last second turned and I promise I'm not making this up said "oh are you waiting to order?".When food came out my chips never came and had to go and ask and again waited a good few minutes before being seen despite being the only person standing there.And old couple who ordered their food before us still hadn't got there's by the time we had finished and left, they must have got a refund because they walked out 5 minutes after us.

My family and I had been once before for a coffee stop and thought next time in the area we'd have something to eat. Worst mistake I made this year! The place was only a third full, so not packed, yet I had to go round different tables to locate a menu. I then queued up for 20 minutes to place my order. I had heard people getting annoyed at the till in front of me. When I got to the till, the guy completely ignored my existence, spoke rudely to his staff on something and kept eyeballing something else. Eventually, he just looked at the menu in my hand and said "what have you got?", meaning what would you like. Not even a sorry to keep you waiting. The serving of the food was totally disorganised as the (very) young waitresses were not told correctly by him which tables the food was going to. The food was passable at best. Jacket potatoes were small and the burger my 9 yr old son ordered tasted really bad like it was off, but was seriously low grade meat regardless. I heard other people moaning about the service and even one person said the guy at the till swore about a customer after he paid!! It turns out the guy at the till was the owner!! I almost thought it was actually a joke because this place seemed like it was intentionally UN-ticking every customer service box in the manual. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID. Really unbelievable!!

My family and I went to this food place today to have some lunch, admittedly we had planned on the chippy up the road but they had just closed, so we went in and ordered our food. I ordered a bun with just mushrooms, fried onions and cheese in, and a side of onion rings (I don't like the typical vegetarian burger which is what the lady said they had) and my husband ordered a cod chips and mushy peas but My daughter didn't fancy anything, (thank goodness!). While we were waiting for our food my daughter and I went to use the toilet facilities, and I was horrified when in almost each stall there appeared to be smears of excrement on the floor, walls and in the toilets themselves. There was no soap in any of the dispensers or the squeezy soap on the side. We should have just walked out then... but our food came and it was nicely presented and my husband tucked into his. I had a handful of chips and 2 onion rings and a bite out of the burger, before I pushed it aside. The Bun tasted stale although it was soft on the top the bottom was not, there was something a little funky about the cheese and my husband thought the mushroom looked more like doner meat than mushroom. It was vile. I then picked up an onion ring and found a hair on it then some kind of clear jelly substance stretched between two of my chips. It looked the the stuff slugs leave behind. I went to pay after hubby finished and I was not asked anything about the meal or whether we were satisfied. I immediately told the lady who took my order, about my findings and showed her, making sure she saw what my complaint was. She agreed she could see and was not sure what the clear stuff was on my chips. She then took it back to the till area where a man very rudely asked what my problem was. I had to explain as she looked at him like a child unable to talk, when he asked to see, I would say she almost swept the plate of any evidence and rummaged roughly through my plate mumbling to him. I was cross and said, I had shown her what I was talking about and she had told me she could see it, so not to play dumb now. I then had an argument with the chap, who turned out to be the owner, as he said it was melted cheese, so I said the manky cheese had not even melted in my burger let alone on a chip on the other side of my plate, and orange cheese does not melt to a clear stretchy jelly!! He then claimed it was mayonnaise, which it was not. Mayo does turn clear but not in the space of five minutes, more like a few hours, but again mayo was on otherside of my plate. I had a refund of my meal but only after I twice disagreed with their lame offer of £1.50 off then £2.00 off. So to sum up this long BAD review, (I like detail) Don't go there, it's horrid food was not good, staff even worse, and I WILL report this to the local health inspector.

Stopped off here after missing a turn-off during a day trip to Great Yarmouth. The food was good, well cooked standard seaside cafe fare and quick but Felixstowe is one of those English sea-side towns that was probably good many years ago but now just seem dated and out of touch. The staff were friendly with the customers but the male owner/manager seemed a little exasperated with the woman who served us who looked a little vague.

We have been here a couple of times and always had a Sunday Carvery which has always been nice, we went yesterday and decided to have fish and chips, we waited for a long while then I went up and asked if we had been forgotten, she said we were next, they had clearly forgotten our order and a while later it appeared, hot fish which was burnt, cold chips and mushy peas!!! you would think at the Seaside fish and chips would be good, (not here yesterday) We will not go again, and the staff had a bit of a don't care attitude!!

Great value carvery with good choice of quality meats and fresh veg. Very friendly service from gentleman named Mustapha.

My breakfast was decent and hot. Excellent bacon. Reasonably priced. The rather distracted waitress didn't give me the choice of toast or fried bread either, she only seemed interested in sitting at the bar reading the Sun -although the cup tea she made me was perfect!

Stopped of for something to eat. As first walk in looks nice but on closer look was bit dirty but would do. They had no coke on tap or clean glasses to put the bottle in to. Food was ok what expected for price. Was not happy to see staff rolling their roll ups behind the bar to smoke. Very un-proffesional

We decided to try this place for a cooked breakfast as hadn't been for a very long time. Oh dear - wished we hadn't! We both ordered the same cooked breakfast except for a couple of replacement items which they very obligingly agreed to.The eggs and bacon were lovely, the sausage tasted 'funny' - could have been due to the strange tasting baked beans that were so sugary I had no choice but to leave them. It was a case of 'let's just get out of here!'It also said on the menu that there was a choice of fried bread or toast - it would have been nice to have had the choice when ordering. As were were sitting waiting for our food I noticed the 'snail trails' into the restaurant from the doors and this made me question (in my head) how clean the place was. I won't be going back!

We found this place a few years ago, looking for shelter from a thunderstorm. It was good. We came back recently, and it is still good. Located at the south end of Felixstowe promenade, where the parking is free, it is a matter of yards from the beach. Ice creams, teas & coffees, sandwiches, something & chips, curries, or lasagne are all served quickly, taste good, and the staff are friendly, and helpful. It is one of the few places to eat at this end of the promenade, but their prices are very reasonable. It has a bar.

A very nice location to have lunch.Right on the seafront with views of the beach out the front and water fountain to the side.We have had some lovely meals here.Their onion rings are just fab as are their baquettes (especially the one with chicken cooked in garlic butter)Also their carvery is fantastic.You do have to wait a while sometimes when its busy but its always worth the wait.They also sell Henry Westens Cider which is one of my personal faves so its all good.Kids meals are very reasonably price and a nice size and the kids get a free icecream for every empty plate..Also tables outside for "al fresco" dining :-)

Large seafront location next to amusement arcade so lots of capacity. Food was really nice and well prepared. Staff friendly if a little overwhelmed with the half term rush. A bit mucky but adequate for tourists (like us) and those straight off the beach. Fresh flowers on all tables is nice touch. Located on the front south of town. No frills but would use again. Free parking on road outside.
