Wow, what a discovery this “so British” pub is. The atmosphere is incredible and warm! The fish and chips are really crispy and delicious 🤤! Thank you to the pub team for taking great care of me! I will come back for sure

Possibly one of our favourite hotels we have ever stayed in and for the price it was even more pleasantly surprising. The staff were friendly, and helpful. The say was amazing, on the steps of Westminster, and situated in relative walking distance to everything. For being at the centre of London it was a quiet stay. This is a true hidden gem of a hotel.

I have been to this hotel and pub four times and can recommend it to anyone visiting London. Of course the rooms in this location have their price, but it's worth it. All employees were always friendly and helpful. The food and drink in the pub is typically English but of good quality, especially the English breakfast. The rooms are small but quiet and with comfortable beds.

Location is great for getting to the top sites! Make sure you have the person who checks you in teach you how to run the thermostat. Great morning breakfast 🍳. I do recommend! 💜💜💜

Sunday lunch was good, if overpriced. Pies were small and the staff said that even the chefs would not know whether the chicken in them was battery farmed or free range.

A real hidden gem! This was the perfect hotel for a short stay. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, the decor was cosy and had real character. The pub downstairs is a great place to relax after walking around town all day. The location is great too, right in the middle of Westminster.

We had dinner at the hotel's pub and it was excellent. We ordered a pie board to share and a main course suggested by the waiter. To finish, we chose two desserts that were also not far behind. We highly recommend the experience.

The pub was open on Christmas, which was absolutely wonderful. It had such a cozy atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Although the coffee wasn’t quite to my taste, I must admit, it’s a pub after all, and we were probably at fault for ordering coffee instead of beer. But it was a bit too early in the day for alcohol for me. That said, the place itself is lovely—warm, atmospheric, and perfectly located near Westminster Abbey. I’d definitely recommend stopping by, whether for a drink or just to enjoy the ambiance. Given how great the pub is, I imagine the attached hotel must also be excellent!

Very good if it weren't for the fact that they gave us the room next to the elevator door and every time people went up and down you could hear the door and the whistle that the door made. Very poor breakfast...

The most rude, horrible, racist and disgusting waiter I have ever met in my life. Barely spoke a word of English, cleared plates before we had finished, and generally had a foul tone. Unfortunately didn’t catch his name, but he was running the dining area.

Stayed at the hotel for 3 days during the autumn holidays. The location is great, close to all the sights, the hop-on hop-off bus even stopped in front of the door. Clean, quiet.

I only ever visit this beautiful bar/restaurant once a year, that is on Remembrance Sunday, for after service drinks & songs. I've never eaten here, but the meals look excellent, I've never stayed in the hotel, as an independent, it's expensive & beyond what I could afford, but, I'm sure it's worth a stay for those who can afford the prices.

The second time we stay in this hotel, now with four of us. The hotel has now been renovated and looks beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are neat and clean and fully equipped. The extensive breakfast is served in the beautiful pub below and is delicious. The pub is busy, they have a great menu for lunch/dinner. The location of the hotel is perfect, a few minutes' walk from the tube, Westminster Abbey and St. James' Park. The staff is hospitable and friendly. Prices have gone up after the renovation, but everything in London is more expensive than 2 years ago. I will also choose this hotel next time in London.

Close to all the attractions we wanted to see, and the tube access was a 3 minute walk so you can get anywhere in London in moments. Complimentary breakfast was delicious, and the staff and room were top notch. Local pubs and restaurants so there is plenty of places within a 5 to 10 min walk. My wife and I were out 'late' walking back from dinner 10/11 pm and always felt safe as this is a very nice area with lots of locals and tourists about. Would stay here again if we visit London and would recommend to friends and family. Big Ben was not 5 minutes away! So special!!

My husband and I stayed here in July 2024 for 4 nights and loved every minute! The location couldn't be better as it's within walking distance of all the major attractions in London. Our room was wonderful with just the right amount of practical needs mixed with English style. The front desk staff were great and easy to work with from check in to check out and sharing with us information about the area. We also went to the pub downstairs a couple of times for breakfast, (which was GREAT!!), dinner, and drinks! We would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone else.

Tenía queso a la parrilla. -Estaba bien. Mi marido pidió el bocadillo de coronación frito. Literalmente nada de pollo. Nueces de pan frito. El mismo problema para una pareja a nuestro lado. Tampoco hay pollo discernible en su bocadillo. Cortamos cada trozo de nugget abierto y no se ve pollo en ninguna parte. Deberían estar avergonzados de servir esto. Mi Aperol spritz estaba bien, pero hay tanto hielo en él, que apenas hay bebida. La pareja de nuestro otro lado tiene pescado con papas fritas. Una porción muy grande. Se veía bien. Tuvimos una comida familiar con 16 de nosotros, todos nuestros principales habían sido pre-ordenados por lo que el restaurante sabía platos exactos de antemano. Si bien el personal era brillante y no podría haber sido más servicial, en general nos decepcionamos con la comida que no se sirve particularmente caliente y la carne en algunos platos asados era de mala calidad. Muchos de nosotros comimos pasteles que parecían apetitosos, pero la calidad de la carne fue decepcionante.

Rude staff intimidated my friend and upset them. Requested an incorrectly described meal to be sent back then proceed to argue aggressively with us for nearly half an hour. Service should be lower than 0 stars for this experience, won't be returning which is a shame as live nearby

Could not have asked for a nicer or more convenient location to stay on our trip to London! The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, especially Vic in the pub. Our room was a good size for two, with a small couch and comfortable bed. The hotel provided milk, coffee, and water in the room as well as a hair dryer and fresh towels as needed. I loved that the plugs by the bed were USB-friendly and that there was a switch for the whole room by the bed! Very nice touch. Everyone in my party (3 rooms, 6 people) were incredibly pleased with our rooms. Breakfast each morning was delicious (I recommend the Eggs Benedict or the Full English). Location was stunning, within walking distance of Westminster Abbey, St. James Underground station, a little further to Trafalgar Square, and more. Also within walking distance of many coffee spots (Pret a Manger and Costa) and other pubs if you need variety (like Blue Boar or Adam and Eve). We felt incredibly safe walking around during the day and night. Plus, the little mints at the front desk were delightful. :) We would highly, highly, highly recommend this hotel and pub to anyone visiting London!

Stopped to have some British fish and chips and it didn’t disappoint. From the moment we arrived until we left full and happy we were well cared for. Our server was friendly and keep track of us, food was hot and fresh. Batter on the fish was light and crispy, peas were perfectly mushy and the fries were crispy. Toffee pudding was delicious as well.

Absolutely 5⭐️ and more!! We had a wonderful evening at the Sanctuary House Pub last night, perfectly capped off by the England Euros Quarterfinal win! The staff were fantastic…welcoming, friendly, attentive, and kind. The pub was super clean as were the restrooms. I had made a reservation earlier in the week to be sure we had a table for the game and for my visiting sister to get to experience the match and pub atmosphere. The Sanctuary House did not disappoint on either. The food was all superb! I can’t recommend the Chicken, Bacon, Leek Pie enough!! The Fish & Chips and the Fish Pie were also given top ratings by my husband and sister. The beers were perfect and we had a wonderful evening. We haven’t been to a Fuller’s yet that wasn’t fantastic and we can’t wait to return to The Sanctuary House again!

By mistake, I left my pricey outfit in my closet when I checked out. When I called the hotel less than three days later, they informed me that they were unable to locate it. The hotel will not accept responsibility for the belongings of its guests and shows no concern for them. It's unbelievable that they didn't save the dress I had left hanging in the wardrobe. The clothing was not thrown in the rubbish bin by me. I'm quite dissatisfied with how staff members handle misplaced property.

I found this place last minute and all I’m going to say is I’ll definitely be checking availability whenever I’m back in town. Brilliant little place with quiet, clean and comfortable rooms and the convenience of nice food and drink in the bar. The staff were all lovely to deal with.

Nice pub in Westminster, not too busy... nice service and food

This hotel has lovely helpful staff particularly Teresa (sorry if I have spelt it incorrectly) and Destiny at breakfast. The location is only minutes away from the tube and main attractions. The rooms are very clean and the shower was very good. Nice pub food for a meal. Obviously very expensive due to the location but cannot fault the service at all.

This was our first English Pub. Its decor was exactly what an English pub should look like. We all had the Sunday roast (because it was Sunday) and were disappointed because the proteins were very dry and they were out of the stuffing (the reason we went there). The vegetables and wine gravy were wonderful. The service was slow.

Fantastic hotel/inn. It is part of the Fullers pub/inns and very well done. Our room was small but well appointed and very well decorated.

I paid for a larger room. When I checked in, they gave me a smaller room and when I ask for a separate bed, they charged me $120 more for it. So I over paid twice for a tiny room. On top of that, front desk clerk was very rude. I won’t go back.

If you want to do Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace and Big Ben you can't do much better than the Sanctuary House. Very charming, great breakfast, helpful staff ... Just lovely.

Found this gem after the first pub we went to didn't serve Sunday Roast and we found this after desperately googling "top restaurants sunday roast westminister"! The tables were well spaced out and even though it was quite busy, it didn't feel cramped. We both ordered the Sirloin of Owton's beef and a bottle of red wine and we were delighted with our find. Ticks every box for a Sunday Roast; beef cooked pinked, light and crispy yorkshire pudding, hearty serving of vegetables and roast potatoes and drowned in gravy. We didn't wait long for our food to be served. The bar staff (where we ordered food) and the wait staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.

Myself and partner were staying in Westminster for the weekend, the Sanctuary Pub was recommended and didn’t disappoint. Great atmosphere and hospitality, friendly staff and good food.

This is in regard to the pub not the Hotel. OMG well that was a way to make me feel welcome... NOT. I waited to be served even though it wasn't busy I was like invisible maybe because I am female that 2 men were served before me. The person who served me didn't say good evening or hello. As I was meeting someone I had to stay but will not be returning.

We arrived in London on a Sunday and we had to have their famous Sunday Roast. By the time we left our hotel we had only a few options. We came to the Sanctuary House by recommendation from our Hotel, and this place both offered Sunday roast and fish & chips. They have a really small dining area where there are wait staff that can serve you. There is plenty of seating , however you have to order your food at the bar and pick it up yourself. Not a deal breaker but for your information. We ordered fish & chips, Sunday roast, Guinness, and sticky toffee pudding. The food was great to experience, however I have tasted better fish and chips in the states. They lo serving peas with it, which did not taste great. Sunday roast was very tasty, but comparable to our pot roast. Sticky toffee pudding was delicious! And their Guinness beer seems stronger, because I was buzzin! Nice place to hang out with family and friends. Bar was not rowdy or too loud. Server and bartenders were very friendly!

During our brief one-day visit to London, squeezed into a near 20-hour layover, we had just a few must-see attractions in mind, including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and Westminster Abbey. To our delight, we managed to see them all! However, I knew we couldn't leave London without enjoying “proper” fish and chips. And wow, did we land at the perfect place! The Sanctuary House Restaurant was just amazing! Its traditional pub-like ambiance, extraordinary service and the spectacular food transported us into the heart of British culture. And oh, the fish and chips — the crown jewel of British cuisine, were nothing short of heavenly! Deliciously light and crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside! Yum! My wife enjoyed the incredible squash and sweet potato pie!Each dish was a work of art in presentation. From our incredible meal to the outstanding service The Sanctuary House is an experience that will linger in our palates and our memories. If fate brings us back to London, we will surely want to return! Highly recommended!

We visited this pub several times while visiting London. Our hotel was nearby, and of the several pubs we visited, this was the best one. A proper superb pub. The food was excellent, and service was as well.

Looking to get our of the rain, my family moved away from Westminster hoping for a pub that offered warmth and something good to eat and drink. We happened to find both when we secured a table in the corner at the Sanctuary House. The staff was pleasant, the beers were reasonable, and the food was solid. The boys enjoyed some traditional fish n chips (in which they got a LOT of fish), while my wife and I dined on a Steak & Fuller's London Pie and a Cheddar and Onion Quiche. Great location and solid food.

Like my title, handy if staying next door but not our 1st choice usually. We tried to check in early but couldn’t so decided to spend 90 minutes here. Drinks very expensive even for London. Well over £30 for 4 normal drinks. Food adequate, we had 4 x fish finger sandwiches, not bad although one couple were asked white or brown bread and we weren’t so ended up with brown that wouldn’t have been our first choice. Strange way seating people too. They waited until all the tables were empty in the upstairs section, then took 20 minutes cleaning them all before letting anyone sit down. Ridiculous with so many people waiting. Bad management. Not enough staff behind the bar, could take twice as much money with a bit of effort and thought. Their loss.

The food was expensive and pretty luke warm. The bill when it arrived also carried a service charge of 12 5% not agreed prior. There was also no option not to pay this. Not what we expect from a Fullers pub

A pricey evening but good food & table service. Recently renovated, the pub was a little too warm with no signs of being able to open a window. The menu is good, with two of us having pies & the other fish. I will take issue with the bottled Fullers beer being over £6 a bottle which is madness!

Went inside because we were cold and hungry, Left £70 poorer with three way below average burgers ("They're well done already" she explained), some decent chips and a whole lot of disappointment for our effort. It IS pretty.

We were able to have breakfast here twice while staying at the attached hotel. Small selection, but something for everyone and good portions. The dinner menu, though, was amazing. Very tasty chips (French fries), great bar selection and local cask beers, but the standouts were the savory pies. My wife got the steak, shallots, and mushroom pie and it was great. I ordered the 5-spice duck, cranberry, and port pie…my friends, I do not have existential moments when eating food but once every few years. *Every*Single*Bite* was a taste of nirvana. The pastry was flaky but not dry. The duck was not overly fatty, perfectly textures, and the cranberry and spice blend lent the gravy an overall flavor I had never experienced before. And now I’m salivating at just remembering it.

We were looking for a place to eat near our hotel and found Sanctuary House Restaurant after checking with other pubs that had stopped serving food. The food was ok, but nothing special. The service was more haphazard; our food came before our drinks which we had to remind them about. On a more positive note, the pub clearly attracts some regulars who were having a good time.
