The Salmon Leap in South Lanarkshire

Massive let down for lunch today. The meal... steak pie was absolutely terrible... very few veg. Chips cremated. Had to look for waitress/barmaid to pay our bill. 1st and last visit

So the food is absolutely amazing , dr8nks selection brilliant and great company

Only complaint is the racing on the TVs all night on a Friday night!! No music just horse racing!! Makes it feel like an old man’s pub.. no one was watching it !

No chef again ! You are going to lose a lot of business as I've heard from a number of people that the kitchen is shut when it should be open 😒

What a lovely surprise we had today when we popped in for an unplanned, quick bite to eat! The food was delicious, well presented, decent sized portions. The bar was cosy, comfortable and warm. The staff member on duty accommodated all our needs and gave us some fantastic menu suggestions. Will definitely be back.

We had a function here, 10/10 highly recommend. Staff were so lovely and helpful! Food was the best buffet food our whole party has had. We also forgot to order for a vegetarian and asked the staff last minute when the food came out and they sorted a wee vegetarian starter platter so last minute which was greatly appreciated.

The food was bland and not up to much. Over priced for the ingredients used. I ordered the stuffed potato skins, unfortunately they lacked any real flavour and it looked like a potato sliced up and very little toppings. Not stuffed potato skins. The service was excellent, couldn't fault the women.

Some people don't like the replica heads. Most people aren't bothered. Staff are excellent. It won 'Best pub of the year.' No need to say anymore.

Popped in for dinner last night, had never been to the Salmon Leap before this! The food was so nice and reasonably priced, staff were really nice and the place was nicely decoarted and clean. Will definitely go back!

Food is excellent. Went for Sunday dinner and it was amazing. Steak pie... excellent. A member of our party got salmon and was also tasty. Very good value. Singer playing in lounge and food fabulous

Superb food and great service from Young Cameron. Could not fault the food here at all, had meatballs and bruschetta to start plus we had the steak pie and chicken and leak pie. The portions were more than generous and left us completely full. The food came out piping hot and was very fresh. We will definitely be back, young Cameron’s service was excellent as he was very polite and friendly.

Refurbished but toilets are a disgrace. Dirty, smelly and no locks on most of the doors.

New ownership have brought this place back to life and the refurb is lovely. Management and the team are great and always happy to help. Our lunch was great also!

Myself and a friend just had lunch highly recommend we had haggis bon bons and loaded potato skins and dessert both of us had biscoff cheesecake beautiful and the price was great as well

This is a great pub. What an atmosphere before a night out or even just staying in the pub. This pub now appeales to all ages. The bar staff are absolutely amazing..

The salmon leap is a great place for food and drink and the staff are very friendly, also a great atmosphere, but unfortunately staff and customers are vaping within the premises, of which is illegal, especially customers sitting at the bar where you have to stand to order a drink

Just stopped in for a quick bite and the Mrs and I were delighted with our food and the service...would recommend to anyone ...and we'll definitely be back 👍😋

Went to the New Years party here. Staff excellent and well looked after.

I was at a wake in the function hall. Food was lovely and plentiful. Couldn't comment really on atmosphere as it was a wake but clean and looked nice

It was a good night, good company, and great service, but the food wasn't cooked properly as the sausage rolls were cold.

What can I say,the menu and service was fantastic, struggled to eat the mains after the starter, only problem I'd have is servings to big!! Give the leep a full 5star rating.

The food was delicious and the portions were huge. The team did everything to make our large party of 13 enjoy a great night.

Recently refurbished and was invited to an eighteenth birthday party, cold buffet was laid on, small steak pies were great along with the pakora, but no sausage rolls!!! DJ was great but too loud for the size of the room IMO!!! Drinks were served by hard working staff who were run ragged all nite, but they were really happy and polite. Gents toilets are a large trough and 2 small hand basins with manual turn on and off taps!! Left on mostly, 1 hand dryer not ever up to the job, get a couple of dysons!!!! All in all a decent nite, but sort out the gents toilets!!!!

We went for a meal and drinks. . Service was great. . The food was delicious and they Also had a glutton free choice . Small restaurant but nice and cosy and nice staff .

Massive improvement on last owners. Music great at weekends. But could do with dropping the volume down a bit when the bar not so busy.

Refurbished and what a change , the salmon is now a fantastic couple friendly place to be with great staff and a fantastic atmosphere if you haven't been please try you won't be disappointed

End of an era. Closed its doors on Sunday 29th January 2023 under Drew and Allison, their fault for neglecting the place. Looking forward to a new chapter when it reopens, albeit under new management

My friend and I had the spicy bean burger and this is not a big Mac burger with chips. Everything was delicious and friendly service. Velicious in the Salmon Leap is just what E K needs.

Did catering for a 60th Birthday Party here at weekend a lovely hall and amazing friendly well organised staff

Came with my wife expecting they still do food ..was here last year and had a nice .meal .due to Clovis I was told they can't do food ..sad ..as food was lovely here .

I’d suggest you’d be hard pushed to get value for money like this for some tasty pub grub. Jim the Chef goes out his way to get the orders served up and the portions are huge. For great pub grub and especially the Pakora, I can recommend the Salmon Leap.

Lovely pub this and i heard so much about the steak pie and had it and it lived up to the hype, will definitely be coming back and definitely getting the steak pie again

Had a function here, can't comment on the bar or lounge. Hall was fine, food from Jim was great, and bar staff were really good. Service and communication were appalling. Picked the hall and got DJ all sorted, decorations bought, gets to a couple days before and only then are we told no decorations on the walls, fine we adapted. Day of we set up early, finish setting up and get told that we are in the wrong room for they've booked for us. Tried to make us move to a hall we never picked from the beginning. Get that straighented out and night goes alright. At the end we talk about cleaning up and what we want to keep. Go back to find out all our decorations were binned. Woman didn't have a great attitude whenever speaking to her, wouldn't book a function here again.

We have not been here for ages ..but once again the steak pie and fish were excellent.. didnt know the waiter was actualy the chef aswell .brilliant ..the food was fresh and well presented with full of flavour .we will be back..love this place allthough a bit tight on space in the snug bar They should serve food in other bar

Our meal was lovely and the manager was very nice he went out his way to make our day pleasant we also had desert and it was great as well and the price was very good for the whole meal. The only problem is it eating area is very small not a lot of tables but I liked it that way not to much noise I would recommend The Salmon Leap.

This is a no frills but decent local pub which benefits from friendly staff and locals. A good selection of drinks and really good pub grub, the steak pie and the pakora are especially good. If you want a well cooked meal at a fair price, don't waste your time in the so called gastropubs in East Kilbride. Go here, you won't be disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised when entering this pub as from the outside it is not a nice looking building however inside the décor although was dark, it was really nice and the staff were incredibly friendly too.

Place is an absolute joke . Had my baby shower back in October . A week after booking they done an offer for a dj with the hall for 75 I'd already paid 50 for the hall apparently they couldn't give me the deal as I booked the week before ... Same thing happened I booked this January for my son's christening next Saturday. Chose the same hall I had my baby shower in. Went in to confirm table numbers etc today. They've booked me in the wrong hall and a baby shower ( booked on 10th Feb) was in the hall I'm supposed to have . I said well you will have to do something to sort this . Woman was for doing nothing about it . Told me I needed my receipt of booking etc . Went away home to get that ... 2 hours later i get a call to say it's all sorted and changed . No I don't think so . Customer service is absolutely appauling. How you dealt with me as a paying customer is appauling. I am now without a venue next Saturday for what was supposed to be my son's special day. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole . Wish I had booked the murray bar . Staff where amazing when speaking with them hall is free LCD screens for putting usb in for photos etc. Lesson learned here and I will never book with them again !

Came back here again for food with my grandaughter for a meal and phoned first to make sure kids are allowed in to what time and was told 9 .brill..food was good and the service by bar staff was excellant .good food and staff .nice pakoras

we have been great followers of john and his chef from berits and browns to sky bar and the salmon leap to enjoyin the best in food wherever we go ,we came back here this week and enjoyed our food once again -brill bar food ,keep up the good food john and chef ,,we will be back again soon ,best bar food in ek

My daughter was raving about the lovely meal she had here and must admit I was surprised but becided to give it a go. We were not disappointed and have been going regularly ever since. The steak pie is brilliant as is the fish and the carbonara is the best I have ever tasted. If you like good quality food cooked to perfection this is the place to go. Thanks Jim for all the lovely meals.

First Class food and reasonably priced, We have visited this pub dozens of times and never had reason for any kind of complaint. Jim always gives a friendly welcome and provides a first class service. I fully recommend you give this pub a visit.

Just had dinner here my daughter had mac n cheese she is a very fussy eater and she had the lot I had a club sandwich and wasn't disappointed the 3 tier was bursting at the seem with filling brilliant definitely recommend this place

Drink a bit expensive and warm Guinness

Hadn't been in here for many years but we were using the function room for a stag party. Room itself was fine however, it was bang smack in the middle of the heat wave and there appeared to be some issue opening windows (noise complaints) so it was like an oven to the point the condensation was dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom. Yuk. Also, one of the worst pints of Guinness I've ever been poured. Needs a good bit of work to bring up to standard. No idea what the bar/lounge is like or the food.

Private function - food good but facilities very poor - we all left early - spoilt birthday party. Only offerred £25 compensation - refused.

Been here a few times now and love the freshness of the food .i had fish n chips and wife had chicken fillet burger which was nice. .good bar food

Nice local East Kilbride public house.. very very basic. Staff pleasant.. function suite has too many seats cramed together and windows tie wrapped closed.. not good on a hot day as no air.. but as said basic and ok

It was good to be in a very freindly atmosphere and enjoyed the comapny. The drinks were surprisingly cheap.

Enjoyed a lunch here with a friend. The Staff, surroundings, food and menus were all very nice. The homemade soup was especially nice. I'll definitely be back

Attended a party in the function suite, great party however as soon as u went in the door the heat hit u! 24 degrees out side and every window locked! Only 1 fan working! Windows actually have tie wraps to prevent u from opening!

Me and my wife came here on Friday for lunch and we must say that the standard of qaulity food as pub grub stand out from any other pub, in East Kilbride. I had the steak pie with mash, and my wife had the curry of the day we were overwelmed by the standard of food we were given, the curry was so authentic, with fried rice and chapati on the side, were amazing. The staff were great and very attentive. Overall we will be back here again in the snugbar

Can not thank Jim enough for his amazing steak pie & apple pie served to 35 family & friends at my my dad's funeral yesterday.

Jim cooked 35 steak pies followed by apple pie for my dad's funeral yesterday! Not one complaint everybody loved it...although some couldn't finish his very generous portions. He was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and he just could not do enough for us. We had eaten there twice in just over a week and have loved his haggis fritters curry & lasange...oh and sticky toffee pudding...lol And will be popping in again before we return to Brighton on Sunday....😉😂 Thank you Jim...it was a difficult time And you made it easier knowing I didn't have to worry x Just love Jim's steak pie!!

Nice old style pub with good barstaff and you can also have a bite to eat.

Had a lovely lunchtime meal here with friends. Steak pie was lovely, vegetables were perfectly cooked. 👍
