Stopped here on our way home from Edinburgh. The service was friendly and there was plenty of choice. The bacon/sausage rolls we had were yummy. Had a takeaway coffee and a cake which was fresh and delicious. Everyone looked hard at work. Recommended!!

Aroma has some good points, good quality coffee tea soup and homebaking. But sitting in is always a letdown, service is disorganised and slow, hotdrink cups thick and small in volume. It could be so much better

We were visiting Biggar for the day so we decided to nip in here we had cakes coffees and a tea and we had my Black Labrador Tank with us . What an absolutely wonderful establishment they greeted Tank as if he was human many thanks for the water for him. Also all attention he got so nice to have such lovely and friendly staff paying attention to him and everyone else, you made us all feel so and welcome even other customers were lovely . Now the cakes wow, ginger cake for dad he said it was delicious tried to get a taste all gone, my mum and I had millionaire shortcake and partner Victoria sponge they were all lovely and £20 for the 4 of us was definitely worth money. Unisex toilet was nice clean and fresh . We will definitely be coming back here and trying some food it was that good ,friendly and welcoming all the ladies were so nice polite and could not do enough for all customers. Thank you and a woof from Tank

I dropped in with my granddaughter recently for lunch. The menu covers a typical selection of breakfast and lunch items including soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, filled rolls, paninis, etc Despite the fact that it was busy on arrival we managed to get a table, place an order and have this delivered in a fairly short timescale, in contrast to some visits in the past when service has been slow. All the staff seemed to be working to a purpose, were friendly and efficient! I had a couple of rolls with Lorne sausage (£2.95 each), whilst my granddaughter had a Coronation chicken sandwich which was served with a little salad, coleslaw and crisps (£5.50). We both enjoyed our choices, although the salad dressing wasn’t a hit (personal preference not to have it). Next up was a plain scone with butter (£2.60) and a slice of carrot cake (£2.30) with tea and coffee. The scone seemed to go down well but I thought the cake was a bit dry. Overall, decent enough lunch for around £20 for two. Unisex toilet was well maintained.

Randomly stopped off for lunch whilst travelling, overall excellent! Friendly helpful staff, clean interior & nice atmosphere. Was quite busy though service still pretty quick. Couple of minor niggles stops it getting 5-stars, I had a cheese sandwich, was filled with grated cheese so as soon as you pick up most of the cheese falls out hehe. My partner had a jacket potato, skin not very crispy as if had been microwaved. Both meals were tasty though & excellent coffee. We'll plan to stop there for lunch again next time we head that way.

Stopped off on the way back from Edinburgh, the aroma of coffee coming from the cafe drew us in. The Gluten-Free breakfast my wife had was good as was my eggs benedict. There was a wait for the food to be served, but we were informed of this when we ordered. So we had coffee & tea while waiting and more coffee once it arrived. (The coffee is very good) Staff all very friendly and the place was very busy.

I have been to Aroma twice before and had an overall good experience - notably at quiet times. Today is warm and I’m with a buggy and my 18 month old. I was thirsty so wanted to get an orange juice to take away and sit outside with. I lifted my 25lb toddler out of the buggy to save space for them while ordering. I was 3rd in the queue. I was singled out in the queue within 30 seconds of entering the premises and asked are you inside to which I said no at a table outside. She said ok I’ll serve you at the Hatch - absolutely fine I thought. I went outside to the hatch, still holding my toddler, I waited there on the step to the entrance to be served for 5 minutes in which time the same member of staff who banished me to the hatch served both the people who were in front of me in the queue and 2 people who were behind me in the queue - one of the people behind me in the queue had also been sitting outside - luckily for them they weren’t banished to the hatch. When service at the hatch didn’t happen after 5 minutes, I left. Still thirsty. I couldn’t hold my toddler still any longer. Don’t tell people you will serve them at the hatch and leave them stood with a toddler in arms for ages ignoring them. It’s rude and says you don’t appreciate how challenging it is to be out and about with under 2s. The community cafe in Biggar is so welcoming for all including families with young children. We will make sure we only go there in the future.

Myself and my partner have just moved to the area and during a weekend wander we went into Aroma for a takeaway coffee and a cake. The young lady behind the counter (light brown hair) didn’t seem at all interested in us being there. Didn’t say hello, what can I get you just asked if we were sitting in or taking away it was said as more of a threat I would say. So we ordered our coffees, I said thanks very much with a smile to no reaction what so ever. We were quite put out by the icy interaction in this cafe, it’s not what you expect really. Either she’s working there for free and hates it or she just hates it. Very odd. The cafe does look like it could be a lovely place to be in if it weren’t for the icy ness of some staff, it feels like a real shame really. Do the owners care? I’d suggest sending staff to the chippy over the road for some training on customer service. We find the staff in there very chatty and happy to serve you and grateful for your custom.

The food I would give a 7/10 faulting it on portion size and temperature but praising the homemade coleslaw which was delicious. I am a bit of a tea expert and their loose leaf tea was slightly stale so I had to reorder. Great selection of desserts although some cakes were a bit dry. We ordered a lot of food with a big party of guests and tried to be pleasant in the few complaints we made but the staff were sadly stoney and lacked warmth and personality.

We ordered soup with crusty bread and a toasted sandwich with tap water to drink and waited over 20 minutes for it to be brought out. what we got was tasty but the service was slow to the point of irritation. Not amused to be charged an extra 50p for paying by card!

Stopped here for a cuppa and a slice of cake. Very quick service, spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Really good value.

Had lunch on a family outing. Good soup, great Scottish breakfast and they didn't bat an eyelid at my sons request for a ham, cheese and Marie rose prawn sandwich. Great place for a nice lunch

I used to go there all the time but we have stopped going as often because it is getting more expensive every time.

Passing through Biggar looking for a coffee shop. There was a parking space on the street outside so ventured in. It was quite quiet, we looked at the cake cabinet and the waitress asked us to take a table and gave us menus. We had Eggs Benedict and a Tuna Mayonnaise Baguette, an Americano coffee and Fruit Tea, then 2 traybakes and another coffee. £22.85. The food was good, the homemade tray bakes excellent and the coffee ok - not much crema on top. The service a bit impersonal, the unisex toilet could do with a freshen up - a coat of gloss paint on the skirting board and around the WC would help.

Would avoid this “bar/restaurant” like you where avoiding the plague or in modern day context COVID. The starters are for kids at nursery, the main meals are for the teenagers who are yet to go thro

Love it here, that unmistakable aroma of books and coffee as you walk in....Good selection of books and the coffee is so much nicer than the main brand ones nearby. Staff are always nice too.
