We were seated as soon as we arrived. Painful experience ordering drinks for 4 people. When drinks came I was given a pint of shandy instead of pint of beer which was replaced. We had to grab waiters attention to order food. We had to wait 40 minutes for food to arrive and restaurant was not that busy. All 4 plates arrived at same time but had to wait another 5 mins for side order of onion rings. Three of us ordered ribs which were okay albeit on the little dry side. One of us ordered pork belly teriyaki and there was only 2 very small pieces of pork in the dish and covered with lots of soya sauce which made the dish very salty and the onions had a burnt taste. This dish was not good value for money. Overall service was under par and staff had no personality apart from one young man who was a nice chap. I did not complain on the day as my Sister gets very embarrassed and did not want me to cause any fuss on the day. It was our first time at the restaurant and it was an overall disappointing experience however I believe everyone deserves a 2nd chance and we will try Sunday carvery with you to see if we have a better experience with you next time.

Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Most meals came out dried up as if they had been sitting under heat for a prolonged period of time. This was overpriced pub food presented to a poor standard. The range available on the menu was very limited with no steak or chicken option available.

Nice food, quick service and friendly staff. Unfortunately the garden is overrun with rats! We must have seen up to 30 whist eating our evening meal. They were very brazen, coming near to the dining area with no fear. Unfortunately, will not be returning until the rat problem is sorted.

We came for a bite to eat at lunchtime with the dogs Food was ok nothing spectacular, but good enough. The lovely thing about this place is the beautiful gardens, pigs and decor. A nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. We ate outside and table service is only inside. This meant 4 trips to the bar for drinks and food order, each time there was a queue. When I ordered I was given an amount and just paid. This included an optional service charge!! I had not noticed this at the time, so returned to queue again to have this refunded. Seemed more than cheeky!!

Visited here just before 5pm on a Saturday evening with our 2 year old Grandson. And, although almost empty at this time, we were seated at a table right at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets (probably because we had a small child that might have disturbed other diners!). We ordered food and drinks promptly upon arriving as we did not have long. We felt that it was a very limited menu, with mainly burgers or fish and chips. Having waited for at least 15 minutes, I decided to ask if we could have our drinks, apparently they had been left on the bar and not brought over. We waited a further 20 minutes for our food to arrive. Unfortunately it was not particularly great, and certainly not worth the final bill. I doubt that we will be hurrying back here again soon.

Came here as a late birthday lunch for my cousin. An out the way country pub with a garden that's probably lovely in the summer. Opted for the carvery. Very generous with the meat. Not a great deal of veg choice but still plenty to fill the plate and me. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Sensible price for what we all had. Would certainly come again.

Great place and great bar staff. Sadly let down by the food quality. Sunday lunch appears to be hit and miss as to the time you happen to eat. All the meats were, to our opinion underdone and quite tasteless. The vegetables looked an unappetising mess. We would not order the Sunday carvery again.

To be fair it's a lovely pub inside, with a shop on the left as you come in, selling jams, pickles, and the like. It was a lovely day when we popped in, so outside we went. The garden, dear oh dear. Tatty mismatched furniture. Tables covered in green and white cheqered plastic. Rubbish, old ladders. A table on its side. As we drove out, a sign advertising the shop was thrown in the bushes. Having a toddler in our party we thought this was good as would slow down waiting times. table booked at 6.15pm, my toddler was only served his dinner at 8.15pm, we had another wait and our party were served our dinners at 9pm!!! the food that came out was mediocre and certainly didn’t warrant the cost on the menu . My cousin and I love this place. We meet here about three times a year for a catch up and lunch. It is always lovely and we both really enjoy it. The staff here are superb! The food is usually brilliant too! but this time my cousin was very disappointed that the pork belly was served on a "balsamic glazed zigzag" across the plate. Firstly she does not like any kind of vinegar and also, it is very unpleasant when mixed with gravy (or jus). She didn't want to make a fuss but it did rather spoil things. Apart from that, everything was lovely. We are already looking forward to our next visit in the summer.

We made our way to the Rusty Gun with my father in law. We had been recommended the carvery before but never made it down. The Rusty Gun has a great rustic decor mixed with modern details. The ceiling is a little low for me at 6’3” but this does add to the cost atmosphere. The carvery was full of flavor and generous in portions. Often I find that pork can be a little dry but upon seeing it on the tray it looked juicy … and I wasn’t disappointed. The beef tasted great but was a little gristly, the gammon was also bursting with flavor. As for the trimmings; the highlight was as a huge Yorkshire pudding and the cauliflower/broccoli cheese, all pooled in a thick rich gravy. The staff were very accommodating and friendly.

Costing £8:95! Main courses arrived after another 30 minutes, not great! The Winter Veg Bourguignon was supposed to be a large plate dish, quite small and like warm, the pie of the day was ok, nothing great! When we paid they had the cheek to charge a service charge! The bill came to well over £60! Very over priced and not good quality dishes, service vey very poor! Avoid! Other places do it better for a lot less money!

I organise a walking and lunch group. Most of the group do a walk from 10-12 and then lunch at the pub /restaurant. The Rusty Gun insisted on pre-orders 1 week before the lunch and said those that did not pre-order would not be fed. Further more I had to have my credit card swiped and the Rusty Gun would charge me £10 deposit for any no shows. The girl I placed our order with was fairly hard nosed/unpleasant. We are a group of pensioners and not all of the attendees are sure of attending a week before hand and a small amount of flexibility would have been appreciated. The range of food on the menu did not include "lite bites" like baguettes, baked potatoes, salads, etc. so quite a few elected to have a drink and not eat. For those that wanted a sizable meal at lunch time the food was quite good, if expensive. We elected not to return however as the venue were too inflexible to meet our groups needs.

Food was really good, although I was a little disappointed with my pork belly. It was well cooked but the skin was soggy and not crispy ans you’d expect. The pub itself is very cosy so atmosphere was nice but I was surprised at how slow the service was. We booked for 12:00, arrived at 5 to 12 and were seated straightaway but our food took well over 30mins to arrive despite us having pre-ordered and the pub not being very busy. We got our own drinks when needed always find it best with a large party. Went as a group of 10 today for pre selected festive lunch. The setting is lovely and very Christmassy but unfortunately the experience was ruined by very poor customer service. The pregnant lady who served was quite abrupt. There was a very long wait inbetween courses and no one coming round to ask if anyone wanted more drinks even though they were not particularly busy. They say they are vegetarian friendly on the website but there was only one choice and it was awful. I had a butternut squash with a flavourless lentil mush inside. The butternut squash was completely hard so I asked for it to be cooked a little more and it came back when everyone else had finished their mains the same but much more dry! I did enjoy going outside to see to pot bellied pigs but this was the only highlight the food was very mid and extremely expensive for what it was.

We both were very disappointed in our Christmas lunch!!...

We had booked from the Christmas menu prior to our arrival . We arrived on time and were seated at a very nice Christmas decorated table. We then waited 15 mins to give our drinks order. Another 15 mins later they brought out the soup that two of our party had pre ordered. A further 40 minutes later we were told to get our meal from the carvery. We assumed it would come to us as we pre orfered. We were not informed on booking that it was a carvery for those of us that had chosen the turkey dinner option. Though disappointed we went to get our food. The plates were cold all the food was cold. I don't mean just warm it was all stone cold. In edible. They said they had electrical issues with the hot plates. Why did they not tell us this from the moment we sat down. The waitress offered to change the veg to hot veg. Not the turkey or potato's or yorkie puds. The pigs in blankets and stuffing were hot as they came straight from the kitchen. Don't get me started on the gravy. It looked like I'd poured brown water on my meal, it was that runny. We all sent our meals back. We refused to pay for anything. So two of our party got absolutely nothing to eat. The manager couldn't give a toss about the issues. She even gave us a filthy look as we left. Our group of friends alway get together at Christmas for a lovely festive meal. You can imagine our huge disappointment.

The vegetarian options on the menu were very disappointing. One of the side dishes on the menu was 'skin-on fries' which I ordered with an omelette. However, what appeared on the plate was french fries that appear to be made from pre-processed potatoes and when I queried their appearance on my plate - I was told that this is all their supplier had sent them! When we asked what the letters 'ngic' meant after one dish, we were told the ng stood for no gluten, but she did not know what the 'ic' stood for. I suggest staff need better training.

arrived late and was cold. burger was over-cooked and was just burger and American cheese, no salad or sauce. Tasted awful. Haddock was unappetising. I'll never order from them again. Terrible.
