We visited the running horse on 30th December for a nice windy down meal, we decided to have a steak for my partner and I would try the beef and ale pie, As I was hungry I decided to order bread and butter with my pie, When the food arrived my partners steak was chewy and she was unsure to tell the waitress but it was described on the menu as prime sirloin steak and expensive to just leave, so when asked if everything was ok with our meals we decided to say no and that the steak was chewy, The waiter said that he would get it changed but would take a couple of minutes, during the time we was waiting for the steak to be replaced we carried on eating, my partner finished all her chips, as there was only a small amount on the plates and I eat my chips and pie, eventually the steak was replaced, the waiter bought out another steak on a plate and took my partners plate, shocked really they only replaced the steak she even had to take the salad of her old plate, then had to eat the steak on its own and on her own had I had finished my meal, to be be honest it was not relaxing at all and very stressful, not what we was expecting as a relaxing wind down meal, There were no apologies from the staff and we feel very disappointed in the way we were treated 😔

Traditional pub with a warm, welcoming feel. Food is consistently good and my children rate this as their favourite local place to eat. Staff are friendly, very efficient and could not do more to welcome you. We often use Tesco Clubcard vouchers when visiting - as a larger family this helps with the cost of eating out. Will definitely return.

I’ve visited several times but I had health problems this year and haven’t been able to eat out as nowhere caters for my dietary needs except this place. Booked early November for festive menu for six for Dec 22nd. Email confirmation came. Called in later to leave all selected choices, Had a second email on 21st. confirming our booking.Turned up to find they had no record of booking, they hastily arranged a table, nothing festive about the setting, no coloured napkins, no crackers etc. Waitress came, we had ordered four wild garlic prawns she said that they only had three, however she went away, came back said okay we can do four. ordered mains, they had not got even one vegetarian wellington which was the only vegetarian choice on the festive menu!!! Service was good, food was good. very disappointed overall.

People were friendly enough and it’s a nice pub. Lovely pub actually. Unfortunately, service is a little lack lustre and food is just awful. Smothered chicken with bacon was really hard, rump steak very chewy and over cooked what was requested. Gammon was harder than well done bacon. Nephew had chicken stripper burger - he said this was nice. Items missing off meals. Asked for ketchup and mayo, only ketchup arrived. This was once a bustling pub with care and attention paid to food. It’s a managed pub which makes a difference but there should still be a bit of care and love. Think maybe managers need to try and reignite their love for the place. It must be disheartening to have a beautiful pub with no patrons. It’s a tricky business.

Arrived Monday at 12.30 to find it was shut , no email cancelling the booking or a phone call saying they were going to closed. If there was a problem with the booking Chef and Brewer should advise customers, it was booked with the chef and brewer online booking so it’s not like they don’t have booking details to contact us. Not a lot to say about the food and drink as we left before our drinks order was taken. We had booked a table for 6:30 on entering the carpark and then the pub it was clear that Thursday was a quiet night. We Approached the bar to be met by a lady, introduced ourselves and said we had booked a table and jokingly said I hope you can fit us in. Clearly she had no sense of humor and responded with “well if you have booked we can” Didn’t seem happy, she checked the booking and told me my name With check point Charlie dealt with she took us to our table left us with drinks and food menu and left us whilst carrying out other tasks ? She passed us 3 or 4 more times but chose not to check if we wanted drinks My wife and I felt we where unwelcome in the pub with no more than 10 customers and 5 cars on carpark We decided to leave still with no communication from Mrs Grumpy We drove 10 mins to a pub from the same chain where the experience was 10 out of 10 and spent £58 on food and drink For us the running horse as bolted

My wife and I came to visit the pub for an evening meal last night and despite booking, when we sat down and read the menu, we were told that the main dish that we would’ve liked, was sold out. Chose another dish and that was sold out, and two further dishes the we would have had were also sold out so we had to have a common denominator that was actually available to eat. Took a bit of time to arrive, but It was itself satisfactory. My wife decided to have a pudding, and asked for the trifle. We were told that it was not available as it had sold out. This was in an evening on a weekday so, choice of meals they are offering for sale are clearly not matching up what they are physically purchasing which is very poor indeed. We attended the second night as we had booked two nights, and my wife and I elected to have the steak and ale pie which we ordered. Two minutes later we were then told that they only had one pie left, so my wife ordered a rump steak. It arrived and was as tender and tasty as a pair of Dr Martin boots. It was exceptionally tough. It was returned and my wife was left with an alternative that was available, of some chicken which was quite nice and management gave it free of charge and rightly so under the circumstances. They seem to lack consistency with food availability in the evenings as yesterday, we were told that both pies would definitely be available so we were very disappointed, when only one pie is available. Not an ideal situation and would not return to the pub again, as there would be no idea whether there was any food available that we would like to eat. All rather disappointing and if you have a menu option that sells well, the idea is that you buy a lot of that because you know that you are going to sell it. Not continually run out of it and then disappoint customers.

The service was 5/5 with two lovely ladies being very welcoming and attentive. The food was hit & miss with great starters and puddings but the main arriving cold on one plate and the other lacking quality on the fries which were advertised as skin on fries but actually looked like cheap fries out of a supermarket freezer . We did have to wait a while for the food to come out and the pub was not that busy but the ladies kept an eye on refilling our drinks . Discount was given for the cold meal ( smothered chicken) and it was returned to the chef to warm up. They could not do enough to rectify the issue. My vegatable burger was very nice .

Wasnt much choice on the menu (understandable as its Sunday) We could hear pretty much everything that was being shouted by the waiter when he was in and out the kitchen like "the pies are in the microwave". Pie's were too hard to eat and the mash potato was cold. The veg was just thrown on the plate and looked like a car crash. Chips were left off one of the meals and when I told the waiter he went to the kitchen and shouted "apparently she ordered chips not mash". Asked for some water with ice and it was warm waters. --- Stepping into the Running Horse on a lazy Sunday is like diving into a warm gravy bath, minus the weird looks from the neighbors. The ambiance is a delightful blend of rustic charm and the unmistakable scent of roasted meats, promising a culinary experience that’ll make your taste buds dance like they're at a barnyard hoedown. The Sunday dinner is a showstopper. The roast beef is so tender it practically apologizes for leaving the cow, while the Yorkshire puddings are puffed up with such pride, you'd think they’d just won a baking competition. The vegetables, often the unsung heroes of any meal, were seasoned and cooked to perfection – not a soggy carrot in sight! And let’s talk about the gravy. Oh, the gravy! It's rich, it's savory, and if it were any more comforting, it’d tuck you in at night and read you a bedtime story. Pour it over everything – the beef, the potatoes, the Yorkshire pud – heck, I’d drizzle it on the menu if they’d let me. The staff at the Running Horse are as warm and welcoming as the food. They’ve mastered the art of the perfect pour, ensuring your glass is never empty and your spirits always high. By the time you’re done, you’ll feel less like a customer and more like part of the family – the kind of family that knows how to cook a mean Sunday roast. In conclusion, if you’re looking to gallop into a meal that’ll leave you full and grinning, the Running Horse is your steed. Just make sure to wear your stretchy pants – you’re gonna need ‘em.

We went to the Running Horse on Tuesday with grandchildren. Lot of choice, staff were very good and attentive. The food was value for money but it was a little slow.

Fab place just outside of Bewdley. We had the trio of roasts and it was the best roast dinner I'd ever had. Meat was cooked to perfection! Service was fantastic & special mention to Tina & Jennie for the delicious meal!

Haven’t eaten here in a few years but heard that it had recently changed hands so we decided to give it a go. Menu was limited but the food was well cooked, portion size was generous and the service was timely and friendly. Enjoyed a sunny spot outside by the canal.
