We've visited a few times now and never had a bad experience. The whole team are lovely, great range of meals and drinks available. We will be back again soon

Great food doesn't take long to be waited by then served. Good quality overall and I would recommend to anyone who wants a place to go for food.

Fantastic service. Went for a quick bite to eat as my mom had had an awful afternoon and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Bev was amazing and really looked after my mom. Thank you.

Went for Sunday lunch. I had the roast which was just edible & my partner had the steak which was the worst she’d ever had. It was full of gristle & completely inedible. When I complained to the waiter he just shrugged his shoulders & walked away. If you value terrible service & dreadful food, come to the park gate inn. You won’t be dissapointed!

Not a bad place to stop. Always seems popular and the food is nice. Not somewhere I go regular but never disappointed on a visit here.

Nice relaxed place to go and have some food,we visited a few days ago,both myself & my partner really enjoyed our experience,staff were friendly & helpful,food came within 10 minutes and was piping hot,we both cleared our plates and promised we’d visit again soon.recommended 👍

Popped in with the missus n kids as we couldn’t be bothered to cook,the pub was spot on, staff were helpful and caring and very professional,they made us all feel welcome .food came and we soon tucked in as it looked superb 👌, there was plenty on the plates and even the kids cleared there plates. WILL BE BACK SOON !!!

Been going there since I was twenty with my girlfriend. We still go there two children and three grandchildren later. Seen it change. It's good basic pub grub when you want a bite to eat with no fuss.

The service we received from Rachel & Sophie was absolutely fantastic, the food was delicious too.

Great meal here last night we all had steak which was cooked exactly to each of our likings. This is probably a first that this has happened in a Marston's pub so fair play! Service was brilliant from the start we were greeted with a smile and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. Lovely outside area for when the weather is nice which hopefully for them it will be this weekend. Glad we visited and will be back soon highly recommend other people check it out too.

Just had lunch and I have to say that it was really good The staff are all so polite and friendly, the meals are a good size and great value and served piping hot and very quickly I would certainly recommend a visit and we will be coming back next time we are in the area

Great welcome from the start. Helpful with our 3 year old granddaughter. Food was tasty. Good portion size. Brought child’s out with ours which doesn’t always happen at some venues and can be challenging with a hungry 3 year old, so this really makes a difference. Staff were excellent throughout. Really enjoyable

Lunch out with a friend, happy to see that there was a Light Lunch option. I had the Hunters chicken- very nice. Then had jam sponge+ custard, which again was very nice, but not nearly enough custard served with it. We asked for more( which incurred an extra charge!) I know of other pubs where they will just give you a bit extra

We had an awful meal.The pub was practically empty but we still waited 45 minutes for our meal, and when it came my sons Buttermilk chicken was burnt to a crisp, there was more fat than gammon On the 4oz gammon, and everyone's Chips were coated in specks of black burned oil.It was like they haven't cleaned out the fryers in a long time it was disgraceful. We all left our chips and the fatty gammon.And complained to the lady at the bar who kindly took 20% off our bill and whispered to us that they are having problems with the chef. I'm sorry, but that is not good enough.Get a new chef. We were sat near the bar and 2 other tables also complained about quality of their food- rock hard vegetables, uncooked potatoes, food missing, etc. There was an elderly couple waiting to pay at the bar, and they must have waited for someone to turn up for over 10 minutes.There was nobody behind that bar serving anybody it was ridiculous. It's an absolute shambles , and you need to get in there and sort it out.

do not recommend this place for food, the children’s food came out with hair in the mash and on the plate, we told who i believe was Amanda that there was hair in the food and she didn’t apologise nor really care. the loaded fries was cold, mango chutney from the chicken tikka masala was frozen, and the chicken was dry. we paid £3 extra for some chips and the portion wasn’t good at all. there wasn’t a designated smoking area so whilst we was eating our food we had smoke blown into our faces and food, with young children eating is not acceptable.

Friendly staff and good service

We stayed locally before an early start at Dover for the ferry. We booked here for tea, very nice pub, accommodating, good food, friendly and looked after us well. We took the dog where they cooked him sausages. Overall a lovely family experience. Would highly recommend

We was going to eat there but the chose very low for the food and way too expensive so we left and had a lemon and lime drink and they couldn't get right way too much lime couldn't drink it

Now a dog friendly pub so had a lovely stop off for lunch after a big dog walk. Staff are very welcoming. Highly recommend the mix grill. Great value for money! Will be returning again very soon.

I can't thank the lovely team at The Park Gate Inn enough for accommodating our 80th Birthday meal for my dad, and for being so laid back and at ease with how demanding we were. Food quality was brilliant, everything came out quick and piping hot. None of us had a bad word to say! We've enjoyed many meals here over the years, and this is certainly at the top of my list to date. Thank you ever so much everyone, you all worked so hard with how busy it was, and still found the time to make us feel like the only customers in the pub. Food was very good atmosphere nice

Excellent gluten free knowledge whilst with a large crowd of people. All meals came together pipping hot and beautifully presented. Staff pleasant and welcoming. Lovely experience for our dad’s 80th birthday. Will definitely return!

Family Sunday lunch with our daughter Emma and family. Jill and myself had the gammon, cooked to perfection. All meals were tasty and good value. Staff were friendly and helpful. Revist Sunday 19th. Our order was taken incorrectly at the till. We ordered an adult fish and chips. Childrens fish fingers and chips supplied. To make matters worse we were told bad luck, we are busy so you will have to wait some time for replacement. We like to eat together, so my wife was forced to eat the child's meal. No apology or offer of recompense. We noticed other diners having issues also

Update: We gave the park gate another chance, and I'm sorry to this time the overall experience was worse alot worse, according to the Marston web site they open at 11am and start to serve food at 11.30am, well this is certainly not the case as we were told by one of the staff, we open at 11.30am and serve food from 12.00pm!! So as it was hot outside we waited inside by the bar for the next 20 minutes or so, now gone 11.30 someone finally took our order. Now this is one thing but the look we got for waiting inside was something else, we got the impression they didnt like us waiting inside and we should have waited outside, well if you updated website with the correct opening times then this wont happen would it. And to the food, small portions of cheap food which they charge a fortune for. Certainly not happy with the quality of the food, small portions and the prices charged, 2 burgers, hunters chicken and 3 soft drinks £34!! And that's with a 30% discount!!! The only thing that is any good is the chips, but the rest of it no.. Suffice to say I WILL NOT BE GOING HERE AGAIN!!! I've always liked the Park Gate pub but I haven't visited in a while, the last time we went 2 meals and drinks were about £20ins pounds, now I know everything has gone up but we ordered fish and chips, burger and 2 drinks and that came to over £30.... and the size of the portions are now very small my burger looked like a child's meal and the fish and chips well there was hardly any fish it was mostly batter. The pub is also getting very tired and could with being redecorated. But as I say I do like the park gate and its a lovely place to have a drink in the summer they just need to reduce their prices a bit, how about a sending some third off vouchers like they do sometimes.

Sons 18th birthday family meal. Staff really attentive food came out quickly and all together despite being bank holiday. Segregated an area so we didn't bother others and able to have big group photo in the middle. Originally 24 of us but think ended up at 20 but great venue for larger party

Ordered through my phone. Drinks didn’t come until after the food and only after I asked where they were. Apparently the staff hasn’t noticed then on the order We noticed after other customers left, their tables had been cleared quite quickly but they were not wiped down and were dirty. When arriving at the pub we had to move tables a couple of times as they hasn’t been wiped down

Got there to have name on table reservation ( I reserved online ) not just “reserved” which was quite nice . Food was ok no complaints waitresses very busy ( lack of staff I would say ) but we didn’t wait long between courses . Had a 30% main meal voucher which helped when bill came . Waitress understood re discount etc .

These guys were super accommodating when we visited last Sunday, even though they were obviously quite booked up. They advised us to order promptly if we can as they were expecting large groups. Food arrived quick and was tasty. All staff were friendly. Will visit again!

The 2 members of staff here were working so hard and the drinks were fine but the food was a completely different story. Long delays for food to arrive, nachos starter was cold, mains were over so cooked; chips covered in black burned pieces, burgers so well done they were almost inedible. It was the worst meal we've had out in a long while. Will not be returning here!

Always pleasant staff, good food and reasonably priced. It can get busy so book is a good idea if you don't like a crowd.

On the day when we arrived we were informed that they had no grill on so no steaks, mixed grills, gammon, which was disappointing as 2 of us had purposely chose the park gate cos we wanted to try the steak.. When the meals came out one had got numerous human hairs on the plate under the chips but didn't say anything as would have had to wait for another meal to be brought out. Otherwise was a nice evening staff pleasant and helpful.

Ordered. Snack inc 2 portions of chips and onion rings to find about 7 chips in each bowl. Think you should get more than that .

I booked a table as I had received a 30% discount code. We arrived and it was quite busy, we waited for someone to be available to seat us. We were warmly greeted but told we could sit anywhere the table reserved for us had been taken by others. ? A table was cleaned and made ready for us. I am a vegetarian and happy with the choice of starters but only burger or chilli for mains. I chose chilli and it was good. We had desert and paid as I left I asked if there was any point in booking and tge reply was no, they move the signs and sit down anyway. Very sad.

It's ok, not what it was once. A few years ago it'd be a 5* review. Just average ok if u want no fuss no frills feed. Staff were polite and friendly.

I booked a table for two online and it was ready for us when we arrived. Service was prompt and friendly. Meal was hot and wholesome and good value for money.

My wife and I used to use this pub for lunch with no complaints in the past ,so as my son and his wife where over from Australia i decided to book a table for Sunday Lunch ( big mistake ). All four of us where very dissapointed, ( this place had changed for the worse ). Some meals were not available to order from the Sunday lunch menu. The table was so scratched up and marked it was possibly harbouring all sorts of germs and viruses . We had to swap empty condiments from the next table as our were mostly empty. When we did get our food we were all very UNIMPRESSED . The steak was ordered as medium - well done , i,m sure if you had put some jump leads on it , it would have come back to life , it was almost raw and the plate was full of blood . The fries where very hard possibly been re-fried from earlier in the day. The plates where of child size obviously to make more money. All in all extremely unimpressed and overpriced, hence no tip was left. A total embarrassment to my wife and i , we will never use this place again for Sunday Lunch.

Some of the food that was ordered didn’t arrive, mine was appalling especially the way it was thrown onto the table, another table in my party were still waiting for their mains when others had finished and I had to go to the manager and get it out of the kitchen where you could tell it had been sitting for a wiile One person in my party ordered lasagne and chips and they forgot the chips They didn’t have the right ingredients for a mixed grill(no eggs) or any peppercorn sauce for the steak No mustard was on offer after us as we had the last 3 sachets The manager was helpful and provided us with a round of drinks and a couple of puddings for the kids Which I then had to go and remind him because they had been forgotten All in all for celebrating my marriage with people who couldn’t come to the ceremony it was not the best time and we will not be going to a marstons again

Food was brilliant, cooked properly, hot, presented well and also very quick. The only negative feedback we could offer is that they had run out of Apple Crumble for dessert (we required 3 portions). We were told this was because it was the most popular dessert - well, if that’s the case, PLEASE ENSURE YOU ORDER MORE THAN YOU ANTICIPATE selling in future. Also, the extortionate cost of £7 for a tiny little bottle of alcohol-free wine was disgusting! Unfortunately, we won’t be hurrying to visit again anytime soon. Shame really because it was a great pub a few years ago.

Food was over cooked, and the wait for it slap long we passed on desert. Been as bad before and doesn’t seem to get any better.

Ordered the vege chilli it arrived luke warm and literally 3spoons of chilli sent it back twice can only compare to a ready meal. My son ordered nachos again like warm and non descript shame as the pub is in a nice setting. The nice views do not match the food

Nice local pub and food. The online booking doesn’t work so even though we had booked and had an email confirmation, there wasn’t a table ready for us when we arrived, but luckily it wasn’t busy so we managed to find a seat.

Lovely to be able to bring our dog .Nice friendly staff and atmosphere. Food is nice but steaks can be a bit grisly. Also is there a mushroom and pea shortage! As most places are very mean with them . Chips are good 👍 but an alternative option would be nice. Overall lovely 😍

Didn't have the bottle of red Hardy's Main Road wine I wanted but they could've offered an alternative at the price of the one requested as a gesture. £1.80 for half a glass of lemonade to go with gin, so that's expensive. We ordered wings and cheese dips for starters which were lovely but definitely not worth £5.50 each. Only 5 wings and 4 cheese dippers. Ran out of mixed grills (this also happened on our previous visit) however the lady came over and offered to make 2 mixed grills up using a steak and gammon, which we accepted. However, the chips and onion rings were very greasy, but the rest of the meal was nice and perfectly cooked. I do understand that the Park Gate doesn't set the prices, so Marston needs to add more value, especially with the starters. Staff were great and tried very hard to accommodate regarding the food.

Place empty food cold Paid extra to “go large” and had less meat than the children’s meal. When I mentioned it I was bought out a bowl with xtra meat in it that was as tough as old boots. Obviously microwaved

We ordered 4 meals one of which was the Lasagne. My wife got half way through and found a piece of plastic film in the middle. No issues with the other 3 meals. Bought it to the waitresses attention and she apologised and offered to replace it in full. I was told to speak to the manager at the bar and they would off us something complimentary but we decided against that and just left after our meals were finished. Also not able to use blue light discount was a bit disappointing as you can use it pretty here 99% of the rest of the year.

We visited very early (16:50) on a Wednesday evening and it was almost empty. With only a few people coming in over the following hour. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The place is clean with lots of tables with reasonable amount of space between them. The food was good and the portion size wasn't too big. It's a convenient location and so will go again.

The nark down is because of the chips, they had black bits on then. I think the oil needed changing as the chicken strips tasted if fish and the children had fish fingers! The f o h staff were amazing, nothing seemed to much trouble I forgot to get names 🤦‍♀️ we had my grandson with us who is 5 and non verbal autistic they were fabulous with him. Thank you all for a special evening (it was my 50th birthday) made better.🩷
