Park Gate Inn in Wyre Forest

One person on the bar. Waited for ten minutes just to be seated at our pre booked table, and when we couldn't get seen we just sat at a table. Told there were no steaks, no fish, no naan breads and no draught soft drinks. Not told at any point there would be a wait for food but an hour after ordering we still had not had our starters. Our mains eventually arrived about 90 minutes after ordering. The food was average. I don't often give bad reviews but we will never come back again

Booked a table for tonight for 6 people at 7pm on arriving we were told they had no steak or fish left bit disappointing but understandable as was fairly busy, went to the bar to order and it looked there was only one member of staff on, who advised that they had no soft drinks on draft only J20s and a cans of iron bru or Sanpellegrino! one order was for a curry no naan breads so offered chips instead and we couldn't swap the steak which they didnt have for gammon on the mixed grill as it was pre packed... food ordered and then it was a 2 hour wait before it arrived, this wasn't explained to us when ordering as we would of left and gone somewhere else if we were told this in advance, we were offered a free drink as compensation or a pudding but after being there for l nearly 3 hours we had all had enough and wanted to go home, will not be returning based on this experience and would recommend it to others too.

Ordered food for 3 adults, after paying through the app as we sat outside, we were told by a member of staff that half of the things we ordered weren’t available and then 5 minutes after were also told that there would be a 30 minute wait because of a ‘blip’ in the kitchen. We in fact ended up waiting 50 minutes for our food and weren’t given any cutlery. I went inside to ask for some cutlery and sauces and a member of staff ‘barked’ at me that I needed to get my own cutlery and sauces. As for the missing items, we weren’t offered a refund, instead were told that the chef had given us a handful of chips extra. Wouldn’t recommend to anybody and definitely won’t visit again.

Visited recently and my God has this place gone down hill. Summers evening yet place was dead. First, steak over cooked. Ordered the bbq sharing ries, missing 40% of the ingredients. Tried to take my plates before we even finished eating. Just poor! Won't bother again. Almost £100 for 2 adults, 1 child, mains drinks and pudding. Awful. Toilets trashed, no excuse when it's so quiet

Food not great used to be good. Its not fresh it was like a microwaved cooked from a frozen meal. If you do eat there take cash. Don't pay by card you might get ripped off like I was with a surcharge tip which I'm certain I clicked no to. This mistake added £6.48 to the bill which should have been £32.00 for 2 main meals only and 2 drinks. This made the bill £38.48 for in my opinion 2 rubbish meals. Will not be returning because I asked for a refund on the surcharge and was told I couldn't have it back. Disgusting service.

We’re served by a girl named Arlo and the new gaffa Chris, both were lovely and attentive, little wait on food, but was hot and tasty when it finally came. Would happily come back here just for them and the food!

Venue is amazing. Picturesque, beer garden, kids play area. What else could you want? Staff are friendly and courteous with amazing service and the beer is great. Would get 6/5 if I could on here.

I came here with some vulnerable adults the old blonde woman that served us showed my service users absolutely no compassion and was so unbelievably rude. We paid with the same money everyone else pays with so why treat us differently. One of my service users is deaf and was trying to communicate to this lady, she looked at him like he was a total inconvenience. No wonder the place was dead.

Disappointing service. Waited over an hour for food, manager/shift leader was extremely obnoxious. Other people felt the same, some even walked out. Won't be returning

My daughter pre booked a table for my wife’s birthday for five of us last Sunday. The place not very busy at all. Went up to order meal and drinks, and was served my a lady who gave the impression she didn’t want to be there. Ordered two starters to share, but they came out separately. The second one 10 minutes after the first one. Then the mains came out in this order. Steak and chips( gluten free) and two mac and cheese. 5 minutes later the chicken burger is served and we had the opportunity to ask if the onion rings were gluten free. They were not, and the whole meal was taken back. Another 5 minutes pass and the steak and chips reappeared this time without the onions rings. After another 5 minutes I had to go and ask where the fifth meal was, which arrived 5 minutes after that. We had the usual apologies for the young man serving us. None of the food was very special and the new steak was over cooked and very dry. It certainly wasn’t medium rare as ordered. We didn’t order any pudding Very disappointing experience from start to finish.

We visited The Pub Gate Inn in Kidderminster for a special occasion and were so impressed with the warm, friendly service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome – they even decorated our table, which was such a lovely touch. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the fish and chips – crispy, fresh, and full of flavour. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Highly recommend for a meal out or a celebration!

We visited here during bank holiday weekend and it was very busy with people eating and drinking, we were advised it would be an hour wait on food, we could see they were busy so it wasn't an issue.. so we ordered our food and drinks at the bar and we were welcomed by the local customers at the bar. We have a non verbal autistic son that doesn't cope well with change.. but as soon as he saw the beer garden with the big woodland area they have he was in his element and he didn't want to leave, he was so happy! After ordering and being advised it was an hour wait our food arrived in 45 minutes, and let me tell you it was delicious! We will definitely be coming again and telling our family and friends!

1 hour 30 for loaded fries that take less than 10 minutes to cook . An hour I enquired how long my food would be; standard response of the bar staff '10 mins and your food would be out". This was a lie!! 20 mins after the substandard food arrived. No apology, actually shocked by the service received. I will not be returning!!

Went there for a drink in the sun. We had a Marston worker which meant we could get discount. Great we thought especially how expensive it is, then to be told we couldn't use it as they don't take them. We ordered our next drink on the app which gave us the discount we should have had on our first order. How can they get away with this totally wrong to be told one thing but lied to by the staff.

We had not seen our friend Kim for months.There was a lot of catching up to do. It was a sunny Wednesday, we decided to treat ourselves to lunch at the Park Gate Inn. We had been there before, after a canal boat trip. We knew what to expect. Kim had the ultimate vege burger, David had the chicken tikka masala and it was haddock and chips for me. I had to check the 'catch of the day', or more accurate what was in the defrosted fish basket. The menu didn't specify the fish. I found when a menu says 'fish' it could be 'Basa' or 'Dory', farmed Catfish fish from Vietnam. Not for me. The single-handed staff behind the bar said 'Haddock' so fish and chips for me and 'half s' of drinks each for us. The great venue, the tasty food, the excellent service ( by a single-handed friendly staff), the continuing good health of all present, a sunny day; could it have been better? Perhaps winning the lottery, but no one bought tickets. We chose to eat at a table inside, it was a good choice. We had all the privacy and peace we wanted for our discussion. There was pleasant background music to which Kim could not repress a 'boogie' move. Five stars for food,service atmosphere.

We have eaten here in the past and it was lovely, so decided to come for Sunday lunch yesterday. The food was OK, for the price it was very average. What stuck out most for us though was the service, or lack of! Firstly, the till system wasn't working properly - obviously being a Sunday it's difficult to find someone to fix this, so we just had to go along with it. Food was 'out of stock' then not out of stock. It was very quiet for a pub on a sunny Sunday, but still took 45mins for our food to arrive. As mentioned, it was nothing special, pub food but I would say price was a tad high for the standard received. They half cleared away our plates after 30mins, so we cleared the rest off ourselves. Desserts took a further 30mins to arrive. They were nice, but you would have to be hard pushed to ruin premade desserts and ice cream. When serving the desserts, the lad apologised about the long wait because he said 'I am the only one doing anything!' which wasn't a lie, because at that moment there were 2 members of staff standing behind the bar chatting. Overall it was good food, terrible service - it should not take 2.5hrs to serve 2 courses. Unsure what happened as it used to be lovely, great service etc, so gone downhill for sure. We would not recommend - spend your hard earned elsewhere!

Always made to feel so welcome here. And my pooch has always been made to feel just as welcome. Our go to Sunday drive out pub.

On their menu it says scan our QR code to order drinks at your table. What they don't tell you is that after 20mins of waiting, you need to go into the bar to ask where your drinks are to be told "we will sort them now". After another 10mins wait we had enough & walked in asking for a refund. The barmaid really didn't care but did say "sorry guys"!! Won't ever visit here again. The place looks run down, the garden benches look over 20yrs old.

Lovely meal with very good servis

The lady on shift today was lovely and very helpful. We popped in for a lunchtime meal. We ordered burgers, the quality was fantastic and came with fries and sauce. Also had sides of onion rings and halloumi fries which were so crispy and not at all greasy. All this and two pints of 0% beer came to about £40. I'd definitely come back here.

Ive been here a few times in the past so thought id visit today as a treat for my teenage girls. We met up with friends there. I've got to be honest the food weren't nice at all, and we were highly disappointed. A few of the meals weren't even touched. It's a shame as this place always used to be nice and the food used to be nice. There was a member of staff who friendly and was serving on the bar and there was another member of staff we seen who looked like she just didn't want to be there. Won't be visiting again.

Went last night for meal , 3 things ordered you didn't have , ordered Gammon ( which was just ok) I ordered chicken ,mushroom pie & fries,,, fries were cold, Pie ,,, well how can I describe it , Mush,,, looked like it had been just thrown into microwave , just a soggy dried up. mess,,, if I had 3 pieces of chicken that was an exaggeration, Couldn't eat it , Sorry won't be visiting again ,

Great food and service very good. Went at a quiet time so not much happening.

Never been before so decided to take my out mom for an early Mother’s Day present. Sat outside and tried to order via the scan code on the table but it failed to do so twice. Bought a wine for my mom which cost £7.50 for a tiny glass ! Ordered jacket and cheese for £8 odd. This came and was such a tiny portion I almost had a tear in my eye as I was so hungry. Small potato and had to pay extra for a pinch full of cheese. Wouldn’t have fed a new born. My mom ordered the hunters chicken for £8.49. Please see the below picture for portion size. Criminal !! It was just short of a child’s portion. My niece had the house salad for £12.49. It was delivered without any cutlery just for the server to say they were all inside and to get our own. When it came it was missing the brown rice, crispy onions and french dressing. The chicken and bacon was so dry it couldn’t even be swallowed. Think the chicken and pig had been starved of any fluid months before their demise. This was sent back and refund was given. The strong smell of cow cack was present throughout the whole experience, which was starting to taste better than the food. The last thing was some tartar sauce that I put on my salad but the dark colour of it made me check the expiry date. It was only 8 months out of date. The salad was returned but by the time a replacement came I had demolished the baby potato. No one was happy with the extortionate horrific food and we will not be returning. It’s making me give 1 star unfortunately.

Lovely pub excellent food and service 😀

Myself and three friends had lunch but the food was very disappointing. My friends ordered salad but there were four of the ingredients missing, when challenged were told the supplier had let them down. This wasn't good enough as we weren't advised on ordering.

Great place to take the kids providing it's not raining. Lots of outdoor seating, some woods, which are fenced off a they can run around in and 2 play areas outside, 1 big wooden train for younger kids and a big climbing frame for the larger kids. Outside could do with a bit of an update as looking a bit shabby, but otherwise fit for purpose. 2 for 1 on food which is OK, good selection, not Michelin star, but for the price you can't complain and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Not been here in a while and previous visits left us a little underwhelmed, however the location is great and halfway point to meant with family The welcome on arrival by the young man on the bar was great, he was friendly and very welcoming he apologized he was new and still finding his way around the till and the ordering process, if he hadn’t of mentioned this we would never have known, he was excellent The food came out in good time and met expectations from a Marston pub, we all commented it was good The pub was clean and well presented Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Thank you

Worst food ever had from a pub waiting 45 mins for cold burnt food. Not just one meal but both. chicken rock hard, cheese melted brown like tar. Not fit for human consumption.

I come often with family, always had a lovely meal , staff very friendly. Dog friendly so pop in after a walk for a drink . Kids area outside.

Food we ordered not available. Very unapologetic person asked for my alternative. We then did not get our refund for the difference in price & had to queue at the bar to get it! Very disappointed as our other experiences at Marstons have been great.

Empty on a Sunday but good food and decent draught selection

Family of 3, after waiting nearly an hour for food the steak and gammon was well over cooked and hard to eat. Our chips sll had black bits on so I don't know how often the cooking oil is changed. Would I go again....definitely not

Sunday lunch , the car park was virtually empty which didn’t give us much encouragement, and the Sunday roast was very poor, the food was Luke warm , the beef was fatty and tough , the roast potatoes were soggy. The place was nearly empty, which gives the feeling that the locals no longer use the pub, we certainly will not return . Very poor.

If I could give this pub 0 stars I would the tables are way to small and uncomfortable the food was cold and distasteful with little no veg on the roast beef’s no broccoli no cabbage no peas barely any gravy not to mention they had ran out of food and couldn’t bring a second meal out wait time to get severed was unbearable it’s a cheaply ran pub at high prices and extremely understaffed with only two bartenders who are also the waiters do not even bother waste time and money and a waste of a birthday day out

When you order an 8oz Sirloin steak and at least 4oz of it is gristle 🤢 mushrooms are shrivelled and the chips are covered in burnt bread crumbs 🥴 why is pub food so expensive and yet so rubbish ? Won’t be returning !!

15 family members including adults, children, babies and one disabled in wheelchair all catered for in a totally satisfactory manner. We'll done to all staff especially the young lady behind the bar. We had a great time.

We went for Christmas Day lunch and had a really great time. The food was nice, the staff.were all really helpful abd friendly and the atmosphere was really festive and welcoming. A really great day that I would recommend to anyone 😊

Look I get Christmas and the hell it causes this industry, I worked in it for 10 years but my god the food was not ok man. To start this tale I’ll tell you what me and my lovely wife had mixed grill and hunters chicken, cool easy and nice her food good nice chill but my food LORD HAVE MERCY. The sausages, look I get when your busy you can cook them in the fryer it’s normal it’s ok I don’t mind it, what I do mind is that it’s cooked for so long they looked as if they had years of childhood trauma beating them down. Next the chicken I'm not asking a lot a little salt pepper and cooked on the grill, again if your busy I get you batch cook and leave some in a hot hold but my god Gandhi’s flip flop had more flavour and moisture to it. The gammon was ok but the steak my god the steak I asked for medium rare and I get it sometimes you over cook nothing to cry about from me it is what it is but when it came out so broken I feel as if a cow died for no reason I know it sat in a hot hold after it’s been cooked and again I don’t care enough if it’s over but Jesus have some pride gang it’s your food you send to folks and I get your part of a chain so hey why care but dammm man I felt like I killed the family cat and this was my punishment 🥲. To make you guys understand I came to the epiphany half way through the food as I was about to send the meal back and the thought flew to me what’s the point if this is how you start how can you fix something that is ultimately so broken there is no point and I get that happens working for a chain but man I can say you deffo need a new chef or change the dynamics of the kitchen but if more people like me come to eat you would lose customers but I finished it off as wasting food is a no no for me FOH staff lovely nice lady’s Have a good Christmas gang ❤️

Lovely fresh fish and chips, as good as any at the seaside! Nice quiet pub. Great service from friendly staff. I eat often at the Park gate pub and it always provides consistent quality meals, could do with the menu being a bit broader, a shepherds pie, homemade stew or hotpot option maybe! It is a tad on the cold side while sitting and eating, could do with the heating on!

The food was fine, although the Thai veg curry was rather hot, but we felt that it was not a good, relaxed dining experience. Noone came to the table to ask for drinks or food orders. It was a bit daunting having to use the QR code on the table to order but we got away with this, as one of the items wasn't listed on the app so we went to the bar to order. For our desserts we did try using the app but it needed personal details plus payment on the app so again we had to get up and go to the bar to order 2 desserts and a coffee. The coffee machine was broken so the coffee took a while to arrive and when it did, it was slopped in the saucer. The lady serving was pleasant enough and, as I say, the food was good, but I can't see us going back.

Our food was was given to us with a smile and quick The response to our request fours sauces was met with a smile and immediate the food was great and tasty and the pub is always warm and friendly however the gents toilet was a bit smelly
