Beautiful tasty food, friendly staff. We have eaten here a good number of times and the food never disappoints!

Splendid pub with lovely staff and good food.

Went there for a couple of pints and to play pool. All the pool cues were bent and the pints were flat, despite being higher than usual price. Pub itself was pretty run down. Edit - after seeing the reply I thought I would add some more detail. I love listed buildings, especially pubs, and in no way thought the pub would be modern. Apologies for not taking photos of all areas, but it was noticeably more run down than when we had been there in May, especially in the room we were in. Eg. carpet being taken up from pool room, unable to play pool properly, for which you pay per game, because the cues were bent.

A very welcoming friendly pub which is dog friendly too. The Sunday roast and ham egg and chips were all delicious, and generous portions. The service was attentive,which was nice as the pub was busy,but everything under control! The desserts were homemade and amazing! There were 6 of us and we all agreed it was brilliant and good value for money. The Royal Oak will definitely be top of our list to meet up in future. Well done to all the team 👏 we will return soon! We were looking for an alternative pub, to meet the sister in law and family somewhere close to Warminster. We'd normally meet at the George at Longbridge Deverill, but feel it's lost it's spark. Choosing the Royal Oak based on these Google reviews, we went as a party of six for Sunday lunch We were not disappointed at all, plenty of choice on the menu, but the majority of us opted for the roast. Plenty of meat, spuds, veg and really good yorkies. Empty plates all round, no complaints. Desert menu was really impressive along with a wide selection of ice cream flavours. Service was really good, plenty of attention from the staff, and nicely no rush to get us out of the door. Will definitely be back.

What an amazing meal. Been meaning to call in here every time we drive past to longleat or centre parks. Highly recommend and definitely coming back.

Great pub for food! We've eaten at the Royal Oak a few times and have always loved the food. They have loads of options including veggie and vegan plus they offer gluten free alternatives and take celiac disease seriously too. The staff are always so lovely, smiley, and helpful. Will be back again soon!

We booked to have dinner here after a day at Longleat, there was 18 of us and they had organised a private space which they had made sure was warm with extra heaters (just what we needed after a snowy day). The staff were so friendly and attentive, the food was delicious and everyone ate everything on their plates. Thank you for having us and making us feel very welcome, would highly recommend

Very friendly staff who went the extra mile to serve 8 of us with food, even though we had not pre booked a table, and they were fully booked at the time we arrived. we can't thank them enough. even brought out water for our dog, which we thought was lovely of them to do . The food was perfect, very nice chips fresh scampi. All our food was lovely. We were informed at the start that there would be a 30-minute wait for food, which we fully agreed to considering we didn't pre book a table. The service was excellent, friendly, and warm. We would like to thank all the staff for making it a nice meal out for myself and my family, definitely 5 star's

Awesome food and service, a hidden gem

We booked a table as we were visiting the area and were recommended for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately the food took about 45 minutes to come out if not more and when you have been waiting I think you will always be a bit underwhelmed. The chips on the dishes that had them were very salty but given how long we waited we didn't complain which we probably should have as 4 of us all thought the same. Roast was very nice and childrens food was fine apart from the chips got left. The toilets be warned are very cold and I am not sure they have baby changer or disabled facilities. It was a busy Sunday so maybe this was reason for the slow food but there was no indication for this when we arrived and we had booked so they were expecting us.

Myself and hubby had a lovely long day at Longleat safari park seeing the lights. Phoned ahead to make sure Royal Oak had a table. Absolutely excellent lamb shank for us both and lovely veg! Really warm welcome from waitress and landlady. Thoroughly recommend for a lovely warming, hearty meal in a cosy pub! The only thing - ladies loos were a bit cold but landlady has only just taken over the pub and doing a really excellent job!!

We held our work Christmas Party here. 17 people. The menu was well thought out with a vegetation option for all courses. We were made very welcome and the food and drinks served efficiently.

So. I had a difficult day with no electricity for 12 hours. I was supposed to attend my works Xmas meal, but couldn't due to my puppy having anxiety with the storm. Anyway, I called Helen and explained I hadn't had a hot meal all day and if possible could i take it away. Without hesitation Helen finished my explanation for me and said, why don't you take it away. Which I did. Chef came out with it in a tray and a lovely member of staff carried it to my car for me. I've just finished my starter of black pudding, bacon and brie stack, which had a lovely balance of flavours, then onto my piping hot turkey dinner. Now usually I am disappointed with an Xmas dinner out, but I do have to say, loads of turkey which was cooked to perfection, not dry at all and beautifully cooked veg and roast spuds with loads of Gravy. Absolutely spot on!. Helen and her lovely team are great at hospitality. Nothing was a problem and they made me feel very special after having a tough day. Well done guys. Thank you so much!

Visited today 27/11/24 took my parents for lunch. Absolutely great food Sausages were amazing The Yorkshire pudding with cottage pie filling to die for and the chicken excellent. Always great food here. The staff are absolutely amazing also

Spent a weekend at the campsite in Longleat and ate here twice during the storms. Really friendly staff lovely atmosphere and you definitely won’t go hungry with the gorgeous food. Thanks to the Team for making a tough weekend great.

Absolutely 💯 for the most delicious Xmas dinner. I was part of a large group, every meal was faultless, presentation, cooked to perfection, if you have a large appetite this is not to missed, staff were lovely, the young lads serving us, left no stone unturned. Thank you for a fabulous evening.

A large group of work colleagues on our pre Christmas night out. We had a private room with all tables decorated, xmas crackers provided. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The staff were amazing, nothing too much trouble. The waitors deserved a medal 🏅

It took an hour and 20 mins to dish up the worst fish and chips I've ever had. I think it must have sat under the hot lamp for most of that time

The service was extremely slow. It took 1 hour and 20 mins to serve the worst Fish and chips I've ever had. I think my meal must have sat under a hot lamp for ages: the batter was like concrete and the chips were tough (with loads of bits as if I got the last of a batch or something) Otherwise the setting and everyone else's meals were good. However, mine left an awful lot to be desired.

Wow what can we say!.. We called last minute and they accommodated us, even though they were extremely busy.. We arrived and the service and food was outstanding!.. It really is such a truly heartwarming family pub, and we will most certainly be retuning!

Stopped off for a late lunch/early dinner. So much to choose from. Had the steak and ale pie with mash and the steak and kidney pudding with mash. Both delicious, hot and plentiful. Amazing value for money. Staff very attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Lovely place for families, dog friendly too. 5 star on all fronts.

My husband and I had the Wednesday roast £12.98 per head includes a hot dessert. We had the most amazing roast beef and roast pork meal The service was great, staff lovely. The best roast dinner we both had in a very long time. I would suggest you book as we got the last table at 1.30 pm.

We were staying locally at center parcs so decided to try this pub - glad we did as all of the food was top quality and fairly priced. Most of the table had pies and they were stuffed full of meat and delicious! The waitress was brilliant and would highly recommend visiting!

Simply amazing food!!! Tagliatelle with chorizo and chicken was to die for. Nice variety of Gin too. Zero Guinness was a bonus too. They had the fire going and it made the place warm and welcoming. Thankyou for a lovely evening.

True English pub with great food and wonderful staff! The pies are made from scratch and are loaded with large chunks of meat. The bean salad is also fantastic! Portion sizes are large and delicious! Well worth the money!

The food here is great! Proper pub food, not gastropub fodder. The pudding was also really good. We gambled with a house red and it was actually a really nice wine. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Initially when we walked in, it felt like a very local pub and that being non locals we didn’t belong… but that soon eased and the atmosphere was great by the time we left. Worth mentioning we got this vibe from the punters not the staff who were all welcoming. Really liked this place

This pub always has a lovely atmosphere and is very popular, rightly so. The service is constantly excellent and we are made to feel welcome. We have been many times and tried many dishes and each time the food is delicious.

Lovely vegan meal of burger, chips and salad. Extra points for beans in the salad and chef aware of meatless meal extra proteins! Very tasty burger, good salad and chips that were crunchy and with some colour which is how I like my chips! Good service as they were busy. Nice grassed area to front with tables and tree shade, grassed courtyard to back of pub good for children or dogs! It's a good pub with good food. Can recommend and will be back. Little pricier than some. Worth a visit.

The worst roast diner we’ve ever had. The roast potatoes were so dried out they definitely been warmed through several times and were disgusting. I think £19 for a shocking roast with frozen Yorkshire puddings is poor. We would never go again. Shame cause staff were lovely.

We had an excellent Sunday roast dinner for 16. All food was hot, well cooked but not over cooked. Service was excellent, staff could not of been more helpful. Will certainly recommend the Royal Oak, it has charm and a large garden with beautiful view.

We went for a drink and the food coming out looked so nice we booked for the following week. We weren’t disappointed. We had the mushroom tagliatelle (small plate), the lasagne and a cheesecake for pudding. Service, food and price all fab. Thank you ❤️

A lovely welcoming country pub with friendly helpful staff - even on the hottest day the staff were great! The Caesar salad was the best I’ve had from anywhere with lovely croutons too. Hubby loved his ham, egg and chips that was cooked to perfection! Would definitely recommend for any occasion looking at others enjoying themselves.

A busy pub & unfortunately the food suffered. The burgers in our beef burgers are too thick. The bun that our grandson had was hard. The ham & eggs, ham looked old & the eggs were over cooked. The drinks were good

Just come across this place on the way to Frome and so glad we did. Lovely staff and service and the view and the place are a delight. We both had the roast and it was top top drawer. Highly highly recommended if you are in the area.

We held a baby shower for my daughter here, we wanted an afternoon tea theme which the chef was happy to accommodate, all beautifully laid out and tasted great. It was perfect! The team from start to finish were amazing! Would highly recommend

I was looking forward to a nice lunch. Went in to order the drinks. Asked for a strawberry and lime rekorderlig and a prava. A non alcoholic rekorderlig emerged and I commented, “Said no point wasting it but could you please put a single shot of vodka in it?, obviously for the same price. “She said yes. Instead of reaching for the Smirnoff next to a bottle of grey goose she chose that and a shot was added. “Great I thought, how generous”. Upon the return to my table the bill flashed up on my phone. £15.80!!!!!! I went back in and asked how much the rekorderlig and pint were. About £10 which seemed about right. After returning to the bar I quizzed where did the rest of the bill come from it was the grey goose vodka In my mind, and I’d have to check the law on this, if you ask for a usually alcoholic drink and they do a non alcoholic version this must be specified when ordering. Also if you give a customer a supposedly nice act of faith by putting a shot for free in I think it is in very poor taste to add the more expensive one and then charge them for it. Needless to say we left without eating with a sour taste in our mouths. Must have been that non requested, overpriced, grey goose. And it was the landlady. Check your change and statements from this pub as it would seem she likes a bit extra on top of the tips After the landlady’s comments… It was not clearly displayed “on the bar”, it was in a fridge at ground level behind the bar. If the bottles had been faced up correctly and I had my monocle with me perhaps I would have spotted the small label that said non alcoholic. I wasn’t even aware there was a non alcoholic version of rekorderlig. I only noticed when it was on the bar. At which point I pointed this out and suggested adding a shot of vodka to resolve the situation without wasting a drink. I asked for “strawberry and lime rekorderlig”. Not “non alcoholic strawberry and lime rekordorlig”. If I ask for a pint of Guinness do I get given a pint of guiness zero? Never happened to me yet. Who orders a kopperberg and expects it to be non alcoholic in a pub? Probably very few After the duplicity I experienced we didn’t want to stay in your pub and my girlfriend was only half way though her drink but I wanted to go. I will gladly return you glasses for a refund of the vodka you so explicitly stated would be free Also the Smirnoff was literally next to the bottle of grey goose and you purposely chose the more expensive option. As for “being rude to your staff” I only spoke with you and I was polite until the point I that I figured out that I’d been fleeced and you were not prepared to try and remedy the situation. My only comment that could have been even considered to be rude was “bollox to eating here then”. The uncomfortable customers you speak of were probably doing a quick fiscal audit of their finances to compare it to their bill so they could more easily spot any discrepancy

American theme night was great a menu that you would definately find in a US diner. Great flavours a good choice and definately worth that money. Left the pub very full ready for a food sleep. Would recommend this pub for great food and staff. They also cater for larger private parties especially with the beer garden area.

Great pub with super friendly and attentive staff in a superb location. The view from the garden is breathtaking. Proper hearty pub food in a family run business. If there are cakes on the bar I recommend trying one, they are always out of this world!

We went there for my Birthday meal at the weekend and it was pleasant. The staff were polite and welcoming enough, although a few confusion with the order taking - thankfully the food came out correct. The food itself was lovely, rather large portions and everything was cooked really well. I had the Lamb and Veg pie - definitely something I’d recommend! The atmosphere was certainly lacking. For a Saturday evening near a campsite and Longleat Safari Park, it was extremely quiet - so much so that we were the last in there at 9pm. I wouldn’t not reckoned the place as it was nice but I think there may be better places to go nearby.

I am only marking for Sundays. Weekdays and evening menu is fantastic and always cooked to perfection, Sunday roast was disappointing in comparison.

As soon as we walked in, we got a big smile from the staff .That made me want to go back immediately.Fantastic food ,very reasonably priced for quality and amount.The pub itself is old but very clean and well set out with a beautiful garden.The waiter and waitress ,Finn and Christina gave a very good service .I thought they were highly trained but I was wrong they both hadn't been there long so we'll done to the landlady for employing them.I would highly recommend this pub to anyone

New management since we came a year ago.What a turn around...AMAZING !!!!! Helen and her wonderful staff were friendly and helpful.Seated quickly.Didn't wait long for the food.The roast was outstanding (best cauliflower cheese ever) and my husband had the burger.Chips were the best he had ever had !!! Would not hesitate to recommend anyone coming here.WHAT A JEM-Will be back 😊

Food was great, service was sooooo slow took over 2 hours and it was empty.

Went here for dinner and were disappointed with the quality of food for the price paid. Burger was over £20 after you add cheese and bacon and was OK - for £20 you expect a lot better. Lamb shank was nice but mash a bit dry - again at £23 you expect better. Bottle of wine - pinot grigio - £28. For the price we paid (just over £100) for 2 mains, bottle of wine and a couple of beers it was really just OK pub food and was about £30 too much in our opinion. Staff were friendly but unorganised - by the time they came and asked if we wanted a dessert we'd lost interest.

We were looking for somewhere to have a good old pub lunch and boy did we find it. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, the food was amazing, From the steak to the burger, everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I don't think I've ever had a chocolate brownie that was that good before. It is also a dog friendly pub, where dogs are welcomed throughout. Would highly recommend!

Family visiting so decided to book a table (for 6 adults plus dog!) Food was amazing, service was fantastic, even our dog had her own water bowl and treats! Mum made us all laugh about rhubarb crumble and custard. Well done to the staff and landlady. Thank you for making our day special

Had lunch with a friend on a busy Friday lunch time. We experienced a mix up with our order. But full credit to the owner for sorting out the problem swiftly & politely. It was very nice to have good customer service in a local pub.

Had the most amazing Mothers Day lunch here yesterday. Yummy roast beef with fab roast potatoes, seasonal veg and the gravy was amazing! All followed by a scrummy ginger and rhubarb crumble. Great pub with such a lovely, friendly atmosphere, fabulous staff and a roaring log fire - couldn’t ask for more- I highly recommend a visit 😊

We stopped in for lunch after a great week at Center Parcs. It couldn’t have been a better way to end a great holiday. The pub is really nice and spacious, the service was great with a really warm welcome. The food was outstanding. We will be coming back every time we go to Center Parcs.

Whilst visiting Bath for our 23rd anniversary we found this lovely country pub for a Sunday roast. The food and service was amazing. The landlady Helen and her daughter Victoria went out of their way to make us feel welcome and make our anniversary extra special. Would highly recommend and we’re looking forward to our next visit.

Group of 11 visited on Saturday for Nan's birthday. Helen was excellent in organising the skittles for us and kept checking to make sure we had all we needed. The sandwiches and complimentary chips were exactly what we needed - great quality food and such lovely staff. Helen, we wish you the best of luck!

We had 3 wonderful courses of food! A sharing starter and garlic bread to start. The Sunday lunches were excellent and enjoyed by all in the party (7). A few had room left for puddings, all of which were delicious. The pub has undergone a massive change for the better since Helen has taken over. A wonderful afternoon was had by all!!!
