Drinks maybe cheap but I found this pub vile. I Stopped off one Sunday evening for a quick drink, had to wait 10 mins as the lady behind the bar was vaping and then had to listen to her bang on about her balls being broken. Think she had been drinking as her words were a little slurred. Won't be going back there again 👎

Friendly pub, with nice staff, frequented by a lot of locals. Dog friendly with small outside seating areas, front and back. Conveniently, they sell Cobra beer to take out, which was splendid to accompany the Indian takeaways we ordered from the Indian establishment opposite at the back. Great combo.

This small, local pub was recommended and what a wonderful place! So relaxed, assuming, friendly, warm and cozy, and we were made to feel welcomed! A huge thanks goes to Mel, who was a great host and went above and beyond to put on a wonderful spread for our birthday celebration for family and friends. We will come back here again.

This place was recommended to us by our B&B Land Lady and as our title says we must of hit them on a bad day, the limited menu was reduced further as no fish was available at all and only one lasagne too. I do hope this next bit was genuine and not some scam for out of towners, they had no regular larger available and only had the expensive £4.60 Morelli. Having said the above the food that was served was quite good so credit where it is due to the chef having to work under the conditions of poor stock supply. Shame all in all probably wouldn't return due odd (not poor first visit)

My wife and I broke our journey for an unplanned Friday lunch at the Royal Oak. The staff were really welcoming when we walked in to this traditional pub. An extensive menu of pub food was offered, our orders taken promptly and the food served very soon after. My rather discerning wife enthused over her ham, egg and chips and my Brie and bacon sandwich was really enjoyable. The chips were the best I have tasted in a long time. The beer was well kept and the portions generous. All in all a first rate traditional pub lunch.

It was lovely to be welcomed into this pub but unfortunately the prices of meals are way too high. The meals are average only, which would be fine if the cost was comparable.

We needed to eat dinner close to our hotel and we found this pub. The food was good, service was good and price was very reasonable.

Popped in when passing and could not believe just how good the service was. Ordered a pint and was polietly shown to a table when asking to eat. I ordered the Beef & Ale pie and although served with mash was given a choice of chips or new potatoes. The pie was epic. Clearly home made and stuffed from top to bottom with succulent chunks of beef. The accompanying vegetables were fresh with the red cabbage caramelised to a perfect sweet taste. Half way through the meal I thought to myself that a little more gravy would just finish it off. Well the waitress read my mind as I was offered more gravy just moments later. The staff were interacting with customers and their children, giving a lovely personal touch. I overheard locals being welcomed and the staff paying great attention to how they've been, very pertinent in this kind of industry. Overall a very warming welcoming, friendly pub. Keep up the great work team!!

We recently visited as a large group of 30 people for a birthday meal. The service was amazing, all the food was brought out at the same time and was absolutely delicious. Helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit.

This is a great local - well kept beer, good honest food and a great welcome from Lisa the Landlady. It is also dog friendly so there are usually a selection of dogs lying in front of the fire.

We visited this pub in our town for the first time as they were offering a 20% discount. We were not disappointed the landlady greeted us with a friendly welcome. This pub is owned by Wadworths Brewery serving real ales. We booked our table and we ordered the Sunday roast. I order roast beef and the others ordered pork. I was pleased to note that our local butcher Cayford supplies the meat which as expected was excellent. The main courses are just £8 and £7 for smaller portions. We all agreed the food was excellent and the desserts were also very good. I can thoroughly recommend this place to eat in Frome - a new favourite of ours in future.

The refurb of this place is of a very high standard and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the food lets it down. Primarily, if you don't like burgers or fish and chips, find somewhere else. I visited with a friend and although my fish and chips were good, my friends meal was first served on completely cold vegetables. On pointing this out to the waiting staff, she offered a replacement which, we expected would be a plated meal with hot food. Unfortunately it was delivered as a pile of veg and potatoes thrown together in a tin dish. Not ideal and a real disappointment. Probably would not visit again.

Went for lunch with friends, all had the amazing home made pies. Haven’t had rabbit for a long time - all really enjoyed their lunch. Shame the only desserts available were ice cream but the pub has been very recently taken over by a very nice young couple so hopefully the menu will expand. Very quiet, but the road has limited access due to road closure at Limpley Stoke. Will certainly be returning.

An absolutely lovely little gem of a pub, tucked away in a quaint little mendips village. Really, cool old 14th century building with a traditional old English feel. Wood burners set into old large historic hearths. And low wood ceilings make for a very nice and cosy atmosphere. Rly friendly staff, that make you feel very welcome. And a surprisingly extensive menu for a UK countryside pub out the way, including good veggie options. I got the chicken and chorizo burger to share with my gf, and the portion size was large enough for both of us to share for lunch, and was decent. Nothing too fancy, just proper hearty soul warming pub grub. Exactly what we needed after an afternoon stroll. If you find yourself in the area, say doing some hill walking in the Mendips or visiting Wookey Hole, definitely worth a stop off. Village is quite pleasant too.
