A typical English pub with very friendly service. The food is freshly prepared and everything was extremely tasty. There was also vegetarian food if you wanted and special requests for children were also fulfilled.

Heads up, you need to book a table before you arrive. The ladies at the bar sorted a table out for us even though we didn’t book. Sunday roast was delicious. Highly recommend.

Just had a couple of drinks here. Others were eating and seemed happy with what was served. The landlord was friendly and the decor was ok if a little tired The toilets again were dated but clean

Just popped in for a drink. Have driven past loads of times,but this time we went in. Service excellent,atmosphere good,choice of ales good and not overpriced. Will definitely go in more.

Amazing Pub, fantastic price! Fantastic! Well run by 2 people, everyone felt welcomed and appreciated at the same time, loved the honest down to earth service. The food was very good, the selection is small but of such a high standard and made with home love.

We arose Sunday morning with the sound of gunfire shelling and what’s that? A spitfire over head! Not to worry it’s only our lads in drab practicing some manoeuvres on M.O.D land and the weekend follies of some rich WWII enthusiast. No it’s not 1943 it 2024 and we’re on the North Downs Way We scrambled some eggs and then our minds then got to rambling, we kept breakfast light for we wanted to eat a big lunch After a sometimes perilous jaunt where we saw a Bronze Age burial bowl with bonus bunker. we arrived at an establishment I shall not name here but let’s just say it was cash only and that doesn’t float with us plastic packing city slickers, bad biz if you ask me We continued on with a burning hanger and chanced upon the Royal Oak, stood back from the edge of this proud chalky length with it sign obscured by a extraction vent this pub could be over looked, but this pub is not missed because this extraction vent leads to a kitchen and this kitchen… With friendly hello and a very reasonable round we looked at the menu and saw roasts, we remembered it was Sunday! We sat in the garden and the sight of other happy guests receiving there respective roasts got up very excited Minted lamb, chicken and steak and kidney pudding roasts arrived promptly (yes you read that correctly steak and kidney pie roast!!! With a gravy boat so the Normans could have sailed over in It was a glossy meat feast but the trimmings were certainly not lacking: carrots, Broccoli, peas, cauliflower cheese, big roast spuds, yourshire pudding and mashed swede, all cooked perfectly. Absolutely stuffed we ordered dessert And another round Bana split, home made brownie and for me the home made pineapple turnover cake with custard so good and so delicious! With a cheery thank you to the kitchen staff we wee back on the road bellies and hearts full to the brim.

We stopped off before catching the ferry as had a bit of time to kill, lovely food and great friendly service, the locals and the bar staff wished us well on our onward journey.

I love stopping into this pub, normally after a nice walk down the waren we make this our refreshment break on the way home the best prices still around in a pub the best atmosphere it still feels like a pub should do the food is also great and reasonably prices dogs are allowed and hendrix always gets given biscuits when we go there he loves it.

We stopped here for a few pints and some food and we left with a huge smile on our faces. Despite being extremely busy on a Saturday evening, we were welcomed with a smile. We waited for a table while we had a pint in the sun and despite being busy we weren't forgotten about and were duly called in when the time was right. The food was spot on and was worth the wait. This was our last British pub before returning home to France and we have great memories of it. Our dog was also welcome so this was an added bonus. Great place.

Our van broke down and they gave us a cup of tea each and bacon sandwich. most friendly people you would meet. I would definitely recommend you coming here and if passing by you should come!!

This is a cracking stop on any journey along the cliffs. We were hiking from Folkestone to Dover and stopped here for a very hearty lunch at the best prices for pub food I've seen in the UK. Less than £5 for any main course. Desserts and pints great value too. They allow dogs and the locals in there were friendly too.

The landlord staff are really nice. Good lager.

Friendly pub at the top of the cliff. Very handy for the Folkestone-Dover walk. Decent pub grub prepared onsite at silly prices. Main + pud + 2x pints = £12! Thought they'd made a mistake but no the mains are £4. Excellent value.

Such a great little pub, under £50 for 5 of us for 2 courses each and drinks. Will definitely be going back. Such a friendly place. A traditional pub.

This is the place to go, it has everything you want good food good people wonderful atmosphere very welcoming and friendly. I cannot fault the Royal Oak in any way whatsoever. It is always busy so you need to book which is no surprise. Definitely the place to eat.

Found this pub by its previous reviews on Google and definitely not disappointed. Had two steaks fish and chips and what a delight to get both great food and lovely service. The whole experience was what u had hoped it would be great value for money. Land lady and land lord were very welcoming the waitress had a lovely smile and manner and the chef found time to have a chat with us . Well done to the team as I know working in the industry myself how important it is. Massive thank you To the start of our holiday .

Visit here on a weekly basis as the food, atmosphere and service is excellent. Lunch time menu is unbelievable for the price. Don't know how they do it. Regular events mainly for charitable causes. Regulars are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

Sensationelles und in meinen Augen traditionellen Pub mit dem besten Fish & Chips den ich in UK gegessen habe (frisch gefangen) Hab mir Dekret nochmal nur einen Fisch bestellt 😍 Preis- Leistungsverhältnis ist mehr als top, die Lage wunderschön und die Leute sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Yep, this is a real pub with the most lovely woman behind the bar. They weren't supposed to be serving food but she kindly made some chips for us which we appreciated as we were doing a long walk! Went down well with a proper beer. Such good value too!

Absolutely one of the best pubs we have visited in a long while!! Made to feel very welcome by the staff, kept warm by the log burning fire and the food was delicious and like the drinks they were a great price. Definitely worth a visit if your passing!

The Royal Oak at Capel de ferne. Is a fantastic pub with fantastic food at a very old price very good quality and excellent value. And by the way the the bar Lady is very nice and bubble. We had a wonderful day. We recommend the pub to all. It is a must to visit xx.

Kleiner älterer Pub, mit leckerem Essen, einer super netten Bedienung und ebenso netten Wirt, haben uns gut unterhalten. Preise völlig in Ordnung und Toiletten sauber. Waren hier ganz spontan an unserem letzten Abend hier in England.

We passed through on a cliffwalk from Dover to Folkestone and are so glad we stopped! Lots of locals and everyone was so friendly. The manager gave us a humongous plate of chips. They were delicious! Thank you for the warm welcome Royal Oak!

I go,this pub nearly every week. I support the monthly quiz and normally eat there at least once a week. My issue is with the sale of their crisps. I purchased 2 packets of plain crisps that cost me £1.70. 85p per packet. Not only do I feel this is very overpriced the packets being sold were endorsed with not to be sold separately. Which means they came out of a multi pack. I was very disappointed with this issue. I know times are hard for public as but to have a mark up of 300% is a bit too much. A small issue I know but if it needs to be addressed then let the public an know. I will still support the pub but avoiding purchasing crisps in the future.

Einen schöneren Empfang hätte man uns hier in UK nicht bereiten können. Wir hatten ein gutes Timing denn an diesem Tag war Live Musik Abend wie (glaube ich zumindest) jeden letzten Samstag im Monat. Wir haben den Pub betreten und ein netter Herr hinter der Bar hat uns direkt gefragt, was wir trinken möchten. Mein Freund konnte sich zuerst nicht entscheiden und ihm wurde zum Probieren erst mal 2 verschiedene Biere eingeschenkt (und das nicht zu knapp). Die anderen Gäste (sehr wahrscheinlich Stammkundschaft die in der Nähe wohnt) haben uns auch direkt herzlich empfangen und wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Das Bier und auch mein Cider waren gut und auch die Auswahl war nicht schlecht. Preise in Ordnung :) Kundenservice Note 1 mit Stern. Besser geht es nicht. Sehr herzlicher und netter Besitzer. Essen kann ich nicht beurteilen da es nicht jeden Tag warme Küche gibt. Nachtrag: Bei unserer Rückreise waren wir nochmal hier aber leider hatte diesmal jemand anders Thekendienst. Auch nett und freundlich die Dame aber wäre das unser erster Besuch hier gewesen wäre das kein Grund gewesen nochmal her zu kommen.

First time here it's a brilliant pub never been in a friendlier place the local people and staff are the best asked the guy behind the bar if he could ring a taxi he got his car out and ran us back to the campsite... Brilliant and well priced too.
